Chapter 3

Victor's P.O.V

I felt her hand against my cheek feeling anything else but life instead of the lifeless flesh and bones of death. Feeling her hand against my cheek, I can feel tears building up at the corner of my eyes trying to hold them back as I slowly accepting the fact that maybe this woman in front of me who claims to be Emily. If it wasn't for Emily who gave back my life and to marry Victoria, the same Emily who sacrificed her own selfishness and happiness to give mine.

"Emily" I said her name which caused her to smile "H-How are you here? How are you--"

"Alive" Emily finished my sentences.

She took her hand away from my face. I noticed the change of expression on her face as she looked away looking confused and lost.

"To be honest...I have no idea how I'm here right now or...come to be" She paused when she lifted her hand looking down at her hand seeing fair skin that isn't rotting away or a skeleton hand "Alive" she said lastly.

I approached her slowly until I now stand in front of her taking the hand that she has been staring down at into my hand feeling how warm and gentle they are.

"H-How is it that you're even alive...:" I lifted my head up to look at her "I'm glad you're here and alive. I missed you"

"R-Really?" Emily questioned only to realize what I had just said to her which I quickly released her hand and stepping back, rubbing the back of my head feeling quite embarrassed for what I said and done. I tilted my head a little not making eye contact with her because I'm still feeling quite embarrassed to look at her at this moment.

"W-Well I mean it didn't feel the same without the strange things we been through together and...Y-You did sacrifice your happiness for mine" I explained lifting my head up to try and look at her only to see her smile towards me. I gave a nervous laugh then looked away again this time scanning my surroundings. I realize where we are at...a garden area but what I can see down the footpath which leads to a particular house in which I had never seen before, even it being past this woods. It looks old with vines that leched itself around the house showing its age.

Emily noticed I was staring towards the house in the distance from them "You want to come in?" Emily offered to cause me to snap out of my thought to turn my attention back towards her to see her waiting patiently for me to respond.

"O-Oh Uhm if th-that is alright with you" I rubbed the back of my neck again not sure but then again she did offer so why shouldn't it be okay. I saw Emily smile towards me with the same smile she would give me with trust. She started leading the way down the path to the house where I could only assume she had been living here..who knows how long she had been alive.

"Please come in" Emily gestured me to come inside when she had opened the door to the house. I gave her a small nervous smile before entering the house.

Upon entering the house I scanned my surroundings expecting the house to not be in good condition but I was wrong. To my surprised, it looks like it had been well looked after from the inside more than the outside. There was no broken furniture, no damaged walls or ceiling of the house.

"Y-You have a nice place" I expressed my pleasant feeling about the inside of the area which caused Emily to thank me with a smile. Only to then see a butterfly flew into the house and then watched it flutter around me before it decided to perch itself on top of my right shoulder.

"Seems it likes you" I heard Emily as she approached me.

"Yes, It would seem so" I responded to her with a soft smile before it took flight again and watched the butterfly flutter around Emily. I felt the sense of warmth while watching the same scene play through in my mind as if not wanting for it to end, that sense of warmth especially when she smiles. The butterfly soon flutter out from the open widow in the living room but still keeping my eyes on her as she approached me, couldn't help but smile gently and wondering to myself as to how all this can't be a dream.

" Victor? Is everything alright?" Emily asked causing me to snap back into reality.

"Uhm Y-Yes...Sorry for starring" I apologized as I rubbed the back of my neck feeling a bit embarrassed about staring at her. .

"It's alright. I know its still getting used to. I myself is still getting used to being alive thing.." She walked over to the couch taking a sit.

"H-How long have you been living here...It looks like its new in the inside" I asked as I continue to look around. I waited for her to respond but she went silent. It made me worry so I turned to look at her, I slowly made my way over towards her watching her taking a seat on the three-seater sofa. She had been staring down her hands clenched together on her lap.

"I really don't know...Ever since I woke up here…" She finally answered me. Judging by the timeline between right now and when she moved on. It could have been not long since then…

I sat down beside her on the lounge as it worried me the way she's feeling and how I feel sorry for her because she was free from what kept her here but now not knowing why she was brought back..but alive. I looked at her hand but without thinking I placed my hand on top of hers, holding it into mine.

"I don't know what I should do.." Emily said.

I placed a finger against my chin tapping a couplle of times as I thought about what she could do while she's alive.

"Victor..?"

"Ah huh!" I said in excitment for my idea, when I turned to look towards Emily to tell her what I had in mind I saw but a shocked expression on her face which caused me to awkwardly laugh a bit as I rub the back of my head "Hahaha...s-sorry. But I had a thought, what if you go and see about your parents?" I suggested to her. I waited for her response but I still see the nervous and worry on her face "Emily…? D-Did I say something wrong?" I asked her worried.

"Oh..Uhm. Sorry it's just...I hadn't seen them for a very long time. Since I died…" Emily answered with.

"Even when you knew you could come up to the living?" I asked.

Emily shook her head as she tilted her head in sadness before she spoke breaking the little silence there were between us.

"You had forgotten...The dead is not allowed to surface. It breaks the law between the living and the dead...because you know" She sighed as she pushed the strands of hair behind her ear.

"Oh! Ah...sorry I forgot that fact" I lowered my head some lookig away. How could I have forgotten about that rule when we were to get married and the only way I could ever marry Emily when she was 'dead' I had to die because the living and the dead can't ever co-exist together.

"It's quite alright" She said as we both looked up to each other and we both smiled softly. Everytime I see her I feel a sense of calm and peace, especially when she smiles. It was one of the reasons I felt I could die for her to be with her because it's one of the things I loved about her other than her charisma.
