MHA: Origins
Chapter 2: Saiyan
AN: Hello all, it's been a while. So this idea popped into my head yesterday and while it's been done before I decided to give it my own twist. I see this story with at most a small harem of 3 people but I don't really care about that too much. Once again this idea is up for adoption immediately.
On the coast of Musutafu, Japan was a place known as Dagobah Municipal Beach the man known as Toshinori Yagi and better known as the Pro Hero All Might could be seen looking out over the beach. Currently he stood in his normal form of a deflated, skeletal looking man which was the main reason he was gathering no attention as he would in his hero form. Down below a young teen could be seen working diligently as he set about cleaning up the beach, that young man Midoriya Izuku was Yagi's reason for standing there as he was not only his apprentice but also unknown to nearly anyone the mans successor. Though it had only been 9 months since he'd met the boy he could see he had changed tremendously going from about 4'11 to 5'5' and from as skinny as a twig to covered in muscles that though compact were also still developing.
His initial plan had called for the boy to simply clean the beach and gain muscle as a consequence however that had changed a few weeks in after the boy had asked him if he'd be teaching him how to fight as well. That had actually made him feel like an idiot as while young Midoriya was clearly a big hero nerd he was also clearly not a fighter at that point. As such he had altered their training and had decided to teach him some of the lessons that he had learned prior to his return to Japan all those years ago when he was still getting a handle on his quirk.
As such he had called in the help of one of his old teachers who had agreed to come and help with the boys training. That however had required more of the boys time he'd contacted Nedzu, the principle of his old school and the school that Midoriya was aiming for U.A High School. Nedzu after a single conversation with young Midoriya had not only gotten the boy transferred to a home school track, which the chimera himself was in charge of, but gotten his old school Aldera Middle School closed down with many of the staff facing prison time. With more of young Midoriya's time available to them they had been able to cover everything he had originally wanted and more.
"How is he doing?" was the question that brought him out of his thoughts.
Turning to look at the speaker he was greeted to the sight of his old teacher. He was actually an old man who stood at 5'5" bald with a thick mustache and beard that had been whitened by age he wore a white tank top, blue pants and flip flops along with a pair of dark lensed sunglasses.
"Nearing done now Master Roshi, though he has slowed down considerably." Said Toshinori
"Hmm" came the responsive noise from the elder as they watched Izuku carry what appeared to be a broken-down washing machine across his current section and place it on to the outgoing truck pallet.
"It's time." Said Roshi after a few moments.
"Are you sure, he still hasn't finished clearing the beach, yet which was the original goal." Said Toshinori
"Positive. After all not only will we need to teach him how to activate One for All but how to control it. Leaving it until the last minute will only cause him to hurt himself unnecessarily." Said Roshi
Toshinori blinked as he hadn't really thought about that. Unlike Izuku he had been training under his old mentor for years prior to receiving One for All and control had actually come to him quite naturally. Training with Roshi had actually just taken his fighting style from brawling to an actual style of combat. He couldn't say that Izuku would have the same natural ease with using the power so passing it off a bit earlier was actually something he should have planned on doing the entire time. Suddenly his figure exploded outwards as he was suddenly covered in muscles and stood quite a bit taller before he leapt over the railings and moved over to Izuku.
That night found Izuku sprawled out in his bed exhausted. He had never thought that training under All Might would be easy, the man was the Number 1 Hero for a reason after all, but nothing had prepared him for what he had been pushing himself through for the past nine months. Even with that however he would be lying to say that he wasn't enjoying himself immensely, much more than he ever had in his life prior to the start of their training. Born quirkless he had spent the vast majority of his life being shunned and bullied by just about everyone he'd met but his mother and her friend Mitsuki, though from them he'd gotten pity which he felt was much worse. Still he had pushed through it all with an optimistic outlook which had carried him to the day he'd met All Might.
While in the beginning he had through just moving the trash from the beach was hard it was actually nothing compared to what he had been through after that. While he had still moved the trash he'd done so with turtle shells on his back beginning at 50 pounds with weight that had increased by 25 every time it was changed out. It was only about 2 weeks later, about a month into his training that Master Roshi had arrived and it had intensified even more as the old man began putting him through a new level of hell. Still he'd been surprised when he was informed that he was learning much more than All Might had under the man as All Might didn't have the temperament for the style and Roshi had really only helped him learn to fight with his newly enhanced strength.
Today however he had proudly accepted One for All as All Might passed the quirk on to him, though the method for obtaining it he hadn't seen coming and had been gross. Still he had accepted it none the less before being dismissed to go home so they could allow his body to absorb the quirk and he'd fallen asleep with an exhausted smile on his face. Unknown to the sleeping teen however his body was doing much more than absorbing the quirk as One for All was not just a transferrable stockpiling quirk but also had the side effect of enhancing what it came into contact with as it adapted to each user. For most this meant that their own quirk had gotten stronger depending on the user and All Might who had been quirkless had learned to tap into it in order to channel his now legendary strength and speed.
Izuku much like All Might was quirkless so in all actuality he expected the quirk to work the same, though with a fair amount of more power considering how long All Might had it and how far he pushed it. However deep inside of Izuku a gene long dormant that had been passed down his family tree felt the energy that came with the quirk and activated. The activation of this gene with the nature of One for All to spread and mix itself with others until it reached a point where it found a satisfactory place to stop and settled. Izuku still asleep would remain blissfully unaware of this and just how much his life had truly changed.
When he awoke the next morning Izuku felt better than he had any memory of feeling with far more energy. Shrugging it off to his body having absorbed One for All he trudged into his attached bathroom for his morning show only to pause as his pants got stuck behind him on removal. Blinking he glanced back only to find that his tail was holding them in place. It took only a few seconds for this to register in his sleep addled mind before he found himself wide awake.
"I HAVE A TAIL!" exclaimed the youth in surprise
Sure enough as he looked back a long tail could be seen protruding from the small of his back. A quick bit of mental math told him it was just over 2 feet long and covered in brown fur with a shaping that had him immediately thinking of a monkeys tail. A few months ago this would have been enough to get him to drop everything and rush back into his room to look up anything he could find on monkey tails. His training under Roshi which included daily meditation had helped give him a sense of calm which combined with studying under Nedzu which had helped increase his intelligence meant he was able to hold off and go about completing his morning routine.
During his shower however he did discover that the tail was incredibly sensitive as he washed it and it responded like any other limb as if it had always been there. Getting dressed proved to be a hassle as he'd needed to cut holes in his pants and underwear thanks to the new addition of the tail which meant he'd need to go shopping for quirk-were that dealt with tails. Of course he couldn't stop himself from measuring it and found it came out at 28 inches. Eventually he was able to get fully dressed at which point his thoughts turned to food with a loud agreement from his stomach.
By the time he arrived at Dagobah to begin his training for the day Izuku had discovered a few things. For one he was faster than before, and while his speed had grown during his training but that had been nothing compared to how he had been moving today with his watch clocking him at 29 mph which while nothing to someone with a speed quirk was a staggering increase especially since he wasn't actually using One for All. Unfortunately his shoes hadn't been designed for such speeds which meant they'd need to be replaced as well. Still soon enough he found himself having fun with his newfound abilities as such when he reached the beach he found himself leaping over the railing instead of taking the stairs down.
"You seem to be in a good mood." Said Toshinori.
"I have so much energy. I ran all the way here, I even hit 29 mph and I'm not even breathing heavy." Said Izuku smiling
"Impressive." Said Roshi from his spot on a beach chair before his eyes spotted a twitch on the boys person which caused his eyes to narrow.
"What have you got around your waist there?" questioned Roshi only for Izuku to smile even harder.
"I woke up with a tail which is weird but I kind of like it." Said Izuku, he'd wrapped it around his waist while he was running and now allowed it to release itself.
"Well I wasn't expecting that." Said Toshinori in surprise.
"Izuku, come here for a second." Called Roshi getting both of them to stop with his serious tone.
Standing to his feet the aged man placed a hand on Izuku's head and both were still before a white aura burst forth around Izuku for several seconds before it abruptly stopped as he removed his hand.
"Well this is certainly a surprise." Said Roshi.
"What is it?" questioned Toshinori.
"It seems One for All had a greater effect on Izuku than I had thought possible. It woke something that had been lying dormant inside of him and his family for centuries, hence the tail."
"Wait what, quirks don't go back that far." Said Izuku.
"This is no quirk, yours it seems is a heritage far greater. It seems you descend from a race known as the Saiyan's." said Roshi.
"Saiyan's, I've never even heard of them." Said Izuku frowning.
"Of course not the last person I knew with even a bit of active Saiyan blood died over a thousand years ago and by that point it had become so diluted they were barely more than a human." Said Roshi causing both Izuku's and Toshinori's eyes to widen.
"A thousand years?" questioned Toshinori in shock.
"That's an estimate rounding down." Said Roshi.
"You really are immortal." Breathed Toshinori lightly.
"To a point. I can die, it just won't be age or sickness that does me in, at least not unless I wish it to." Said Roshi.
"Who were the Saiyan's?" questioned Izuku.
"The Saiyan's were a race of warriors that came from a planet called Vegeta. There history is vast but to make a long story short they are a dead race as their planet was destroyed as were many of their people. One of my old students was lucky enough to have been sent off world to Earth as an infant. He suffered a head injury and forgot all about it but he was amongst the last full blooded Saiyan's to have survived and judging from your energy was your many times great grandfather, his name was Son Goku.
Nearly a month later found Izuku standing in front of U.A as he prepared to begin the entrance exam. In that time he had learned a lot, not only about how to tap into and some control of One for All but about the Saiyan race as well as his ancestors Goku and his son Gohan. Gohan had apparently been something of a scholar and had with help written a history of the Saiyan race, there had also been data about the physiology of Saiyan's and comparisons to humans. Some of what he read had horrified him yet it had also given him a sense of pride in his family that he had previously been lacking. In that time they had also determined that he had basically become a half Saiyan which meant that he had dodged the bullet for several of a pureblooded Saiyan's negative character traits like battle lust at least in his current state.
Speaking of he had decided to change up his look a bit. For instance he had been inspired by a picture of his grandpa Gohan from his high school days and decided to cut his hair short, so much in fact it now stood up in a spiky formation with a single bang that hung over the right side of his forehead. His wardrobe had been replaced and he currently wore a blue fighters gi that was sleeveless with an orange undershirt which allowed the muscles in his arms and broader shoulders to be clearly seen. On his feet were a pair of black boots that All Might had gifted him and a pair of fingerless gloves completed the outfit.
Regardless of everything else his training had only intensified over the previous month as he'd finished clearing the beach it had focused entirely on practical lessons. Roshi had taught him how to consciously tab into his Ki and which One for All did naturally to enhance ones physical abilities. His conscious use of the ability allowed him to channel it not only internally like All Might did but externally as well at least once he figured out that the two energies weren't different. Even with his training however he couldn't use anywhere close to 100% of his power without the certainty that his body would break itself, even with his enhanced skeletal structure.
In fact at this point he could only use about 4% of the power safely which both Roshi and All Might stated would be more than enough for the entrance exam. Unfortunately Izuku was so deep into his thoughts that not only did he completely ignore Bakugo when he walked passed him but found himself tripping over a step and would have fallen on his face if not for the actions of another examinee who somehow managed to stop him in place before righting him and releasing her hold on him.
"Sorry about using my quirk on you like that. I just thought it would be bad luck to trip right before the exam." Said his rescuer
Looking at her revealed a girl who was rather short just barely over 5 feet in height though she possessed a slender, curvaceous figure. She has fair skin with a cute blush staining her cheeks Her eyes are large and round, with irises a warm auburn brown, rather thick upper eyelashes, two longer and more prominent ones protruding outwards on either side and fewer but more individually pronounced lower eyelashes. She has shoulder length brown hair that matches her eyes that bobbed and curved inwards at the ends with two longer clumps taking the same shape on either side of her face, and short bangs that reach roughly a quarter of the way down her forehead. All in all Izuku thought she was actually a very pretty girl.
"No problem, thanks for the save actually, I guess I got too deep in my thoughts. My name is Izuku Midoriya by the way." Said the boy remembering to speak.
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka." Said the girl
"Well it's nice to meet you Uraraka-san, are you going for the hero course as well?" said Izuku.
"Yeah, I'm nervous about it though to be honest." Said the girl
"Don't be, you're already off to an amazing start as far as I'm concerned." Said Izuku getting her blush to darken.
"Well we better head inside, but is it possible to talk more later?" questioned the girl
"Sure I'd like that." Said Izuku before the two exchanged numbers and she headed inside
'I can't believe that just happened! She even gave me her number!' thought Izuku in surprise as he headed inside with a bit of a spring in his step.
The written portion of the exam seemed to fly by for Izuku and he didn't know if it was the increase in confidence that had come over the last 10 months or his studying under Nedzu but he actually thought it was quite easy. In fact he'd flown through the test so fast that he'd left the room almost a full hour early and that was after checking his work several times over. While he wasn't the first to finish he felt good about himself as he didn't have an intelligence quirk bolstering him. This meant that by the time everyone else began to file into the auditorium in preparation for the practical exam he had already been seated for quite a while with a pair of earbuds in and music playing from his phone.
His attention was only pulled back into the real world when Bakugo came and sat next to him. He knew that the last ten months hadn't been anywhere near as pleasant for Bakugo as they had been for him. After the Aldera crackdown he had barely managed to avoid being barred from all hero schools due to his actions in middle school. As it was it was thanks to how the faculties in both elementary and middle school had encouraged him that he'd dodged that bullet. Even still he had basically been on probation according to his mom and that had included mandatory counselling both for his quirk and mental state which had included anger management.
"How the hell did you finish the test so fast nerd?" questioned Bakugo
"After Aldera I had better teachers. I actually thought it was easy." Said Izuku causing him to grunt
Not long later the students were greeted to the arrival of Present Mike, a pro hero and apparently a teacher at UA who took them through what they needed to know regarding the practical exam. There had only been a single interruption from an overzealous kid who was promptly told to shut up and sit down before he got beat up by the person he had turned to yell at before the hero continued. What it all boiled down to was that they would be facing robots that represented villains with a point score which ranged from zero to three points. The zero pointers were massive arena traps and not actually meant to be fought. Finally he revealed that because there were so many people testing they would be split up into two separate areas to begin the practical exam.
Nearly thirty minutes later found Izuku in the midst of the carnage that was the practical exam with destroyed robot carcasses surrounding him. With all of his training he hadn't been worried about facing robots as in terms of pure strength he'd been able to punch through bricks even before he received One for All. He'd been surprised to find Uraraka would be in his area as well and had managed to get her to calm down after a small bit of encouragement after which she'd got this look of determination that came over her face and he left her alone. When the gates opened he was the first one through as he didn't need anyone to tell him to start and had immediately started smashing his way through the robots.
Unlike most others however he was constantly on the move not content to just let them come to him. Instead he cut a path of destruction as he left the mangled remains of robots in his wake, though he also found himself helping out others quite often as even now he couldn't make himself ignore people in trouble. Grabbing a 3 pointer by the arm he spun it before tossing it into a group of other robots causing them all to shatter. He had lost count about how many he'd taken down but he knew he had over fifty points so he was fairly confident he was doing well. Smirking he was just about to rush off for a new group before the ground shook and a massive zero-point robot emerged from the ground. Hearing screams he dashed towards them only to see it was a group of examinees all running from the robot. He was just about to leave himself when he heard a familiar voice call for help, and he turned only to find Uraraka pinned down by debris while the robot began making its way towards her.
Running towards her he ignored the kids passing him by focused only on Uraraka who clearly needed help. As he neared her his power flared and an aura of white energy erupted around him with bolts of green energy darting through it like lightning as he leapt off the ground over Uraraka and right into the face of the zero pointer
"SMASH!" exclaimed the teen slamming a fist to its face clearly denting it and rocking it backwards.
Unfortunately at only four percent the robot was nowhere near beaten but Izuku was already in motion having been flipped through the air after the blow he righted himself with his hands overlapping fingers splayed out in opposite directions and hovering over his forehead with energy clearly gathering in front of them.
"MASENKO HA!"
With the exclamation a huge blast of energy surged forth from his hands which slammed into the robot with such force it was lifted and blown back before it went up in a massive explosion. The eruption of energy however had lifted Izuku up even higher into the air and exhausted he was getting ready for a painful meeting with the ground before his momentum was halted yet again by Uraraka who slapped him and managed to halt him in place. She maneuvered him so that he joined her on the slab of concrete she was placed on before lowering them back to the ground.
It took a week before the results of the exam were delivered during which time Izuku had mostly done light training as he was on his own for the week. During that time he focused mostly on meditation with a bit of shadow sparring mixed with his regular exercise routine. Aside from that he spoke with Uraraka basically every day by phone and they had quickly become friends. At the moment he could be found on the couch as a movie played that he was hardly paying attention to as he looked into his phone.
"Izuku! It's here!" came the exclamation from his mother.
Like he himself had his mother had undergone a bit of a transformation over the last ten months. When he had begun his training she had started going to the gym herself and she had now shed all of her excess weight and she now looked much like she had before he was diagnosed as quirkless and she'd begun stress eating. As she sat down next to him he accepted the letter in her hands which he opened only for a small disc-like object to fall out and onto the table activating almost immediately.
"I am here as a projection!" came the voice of All Might who could be seen in a business suit of all things
"Now the truth is I did not come to this city simply to fight villains. You are looking at the newest UA faculty member and with that standing I present your scores." Said the man surprising the duo on the couch.
"Izuku Midoriya for the written portion of the exam you managed a perfect score despite lacking an intelligence boosting quirk placing you within the top 5 percent to have ever taken the test. For the practical portion of the exam you came out with 75 villain points, the second most this year. That however is not everything for there was a hidden aspect of the exam based on helping those in need which awarded rescue points of which you managed to obtain 120, not the least of which came from your impressive rescue and takedown of the zero pointer. This gives you a total of 195 points which places you firmly in the number one position of the exam. Welcome young Midoriya to your hero academia."
AN: That's it chapter's done. Once again the story is immediately up for adoption for anyone that wants it. The next chapter would see the first day at UA and Izuku meeting and rescuing Eri. Anyway thanks for reading, till next time. LATER.
