Chapter 8: Some Assembly Required
After getting over their shock at seeing a ghost appear before them, Sora was the first to ask the question on everyone's mind "Who are you?"
The ghost of the old man smiled and replied, "My name is Obi Wan Kenobi. Once upon a time I was a Jedi Knight when I walked among the living. I knew your grandfather."
"You knew Grandpa?!" Sora exclaimed in surprise. "D-did you know my dad too?" he asked in an almost desperate, pleading voice.
"Indeed, I did know your father and did my best to guide him before my demise," Obi Wan replied with a kind grandfatherly smile but his expression quickly fell and he continued, "But sadly, I can no longer feel your father's presence."
"Is he…?" Sora trailed off afraid to ask for fear of the answer.
Obi Wan smiled and replied, "No, child, your father is not dead. He has simply cut himself off from the Force."
"What is the Force?" Veronica asked the question everyone wanted to know.
"The Force is what gives a Jedi Knight his power. It is an energy created by all living things," Obi Wan replied. "It surrounds and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together."
"Can anyone use this Force or control it?" Serana asked.
"Not in the sense that those born with Magicka like you can," Obi Wan replied. "There are similarities between Magicka and the Force but differences as well," he said.
"Why are you here?" Dragonborn asked bluntly.
"I am here to offer my guidance to Sora," the Ghost of Obi Wan replied simply. Looking at Sora, he started speaking to him again, "Sora Skywalker, you have begun to walk a path laid before you since you first received the Keyblade. Your path is long and treacherous, but you have with you the friends you have made. So long as they are connected to your Heart, you will never be alone." Obi Wan said.
"But in light of recent events, you need someone who can teach you in the Ways of the Force," Obi Wan then said seriously.
"Are you here to teach me?" Sora asked.
"It will not be I who will teach and guide you. You must seek out your father, the Last Jedi," Obi Wan replied.
"But how? I don't even know where to look!" Sora stated.
"Seek out your family and may your Heart be your Guiding Key…" With that the Ghost of Obi Wan Kenobi faded away.
"Hey! Wait! Come back!" Sora shouted but Obi Wan's ghost was gone.
"Tch, bastard couldn't stick around long enough to give more details or even say goodbye," the Courier grunted.
"Obi Wan said more than enough, Courier," Maz said from her spot. She then looked at Sora and said to him, "He is correct, Sora. The connections you have made thus far will serve you in your darkest hour. So long as you remember those connections, you will never be alone."
"I guess so," Sora mumbled. "But where do I even look for my dad?" he wondered out loud.
"He is not the only one of your family out there," Maz reminded him.
"My sister…" Sora realized. "But I don't know where she is either!" he added in defeat.
"When was the last time you saw your father & sister?" Aela asked.
"Well…" Sora began to tell everyone a story of the past.
…
Eight years ago…
Sora was half asleep in his bed, but he was roused from his sleep when he heard sounds of an intense conversation coming from downstairs. Getting out of bed, Sora crept down the stairs to eavesdrop, and sure enough, he also saw his older sister Jaina peeking through a crack in the door, the light streaming in from it.
"Jaina? What's going on?" Sora whispered to his sister who put a finger to her lips to silence him and she and Sora listened to the conversation between their parents.
"Are you sure about this?" they heard their mother Mara ask.
"If I wasn't, we wouldn't be having this conversation," their father Luke answered. "I have a feeling Snoke already got to him, and the last thing we need is another Darth Vader!" he said.
"Let's say you do manage to find him, what then? Are you going to help him? Or kill him?"
There was a moment of silence before Luke replied. "I'm not sure. I'm going to be gone for a while."
Sora gasped and Jaina had to cover his mouth to keep him quiet.
"How long?"
"Not long. A few days at most. It shouldn't take too long."
"What do I tell the kids? Jaina already knows what you do, considering she's your student and all, but Sora has no idea what you do for a living," Mara said.
"Tell the kids I'm going away on a business trip. Tell them anything so that they won't worry or come looking for me," their father replied. "They'll be safe as long as they stay on this world," he said.
"And what of the four visitors who came by recently? Sora's already met two of them. What if…?" Mara began before Luke cut her off.
"Only one of them passed on the power to Riku. I spoke with the girl. She's a master, but she didn't pass on the power to Sora. It's not his destiny."
Sora heard his mother sigh before speaking, "I know. I just have a bad feeling about this… please be careful."
"I will be," Luke replied and he prepared to head for the door. Sora wriggled free of Jaina's arms and bolted down the stairs.
"Sora!" Jaina hissed.
"Dad! Dad!" Sora shouted. Luke and Mara were shocked to see their youngest son still awake.
"Hey, kiddo, you're still up, why is that?" Luke asked as he knelt on one knee to be eye level with Sora. "Did you have a bad dream?"
"Why are you leaving?" Sora asked.
Luke sighed before replying, "I have some business to take care of. I need to go into work for a few days."
"Why? I don't understand…" Sora mumbled.
His father smiled, "you will when you're older. Now, I need you to be the man of the house and look after your mother and sister while I'm gone. Can you do that for me, kid?" he asked.
"I guess," Sora mumbled in reply.
"It's gonna be okay, Sora. After I'm done, I'll come right back," Luke said.
"Really?" Sora asked hopefully.
Luke nodded. "Really-really," he confirmed.
"Pinkie promise?" Sora asked with his pinkie finger out. Luke smiled as he raised his own, artificial, hand and wrapped his own pinkie finger around Sora's.
"Pinkie promise," Luke said, and Sora then hugged him tightly. Luke hugged him back before letting go and stood to his full height and turned to leave.
Mara smiled at Sora, "Alright, young man, time for bed. And don't think I didn't see you too, Jaina. It's your bedtime too, young lady!" She said, looking at the door where Sora had come from.
Jaina hurried to her room while Mara walked Sora back to his room, telling him, "It's going to be okay. Daddy will be back soon."
But a few days became a few weeks, and a few weeks became months. Every night, Sora stayed up waiting for his father to return home, and every night he was disappointed. Finally, however, Jaina was tired of waiting, and decided to take matters into her own hands. She decided that she was going to go out and search for their father herself. Sora watched intently as his sister packed her bags, "Where are you going?" He asked her.
"I'm going to find Dad and bring him back home," Jaina answered.
"But Dad said he'd come back. He pinkie promised!" Sora stated.
"It's been months, Sora," Jaina reminded him. "Something must've happened. Something like…"
"Like what?" Sora asked.
"Never mind. You're too young to know," Jaina told him before she slapped a hand to her forehead and said, "Ugh! Toothbrush! How could I forget?" she complained to herself.
"Can't I come with you?" Sora asked her.
Jaina shook her head, "No. You'll be safer here with Mom. I'll be back with Dad soon. Hopefully…"
"But Jaina," Sora said before he yawned sleepily.
Jaina smiled at her little brother softly and said to him, "I know you want to help me look for Dad, but I can't look after you while I'm searching for him. You'll just get in the way and slow me down. And I also can't let you tell Mom what I'm doing or where I'm going." She paused briefly, "I am very sorry about this." She said, placing her hand on Sora's head and whispering a single word, "Sleep."
Sora immediately felt his eyelids getting heavier, and he slowly drifted off to sleep. When he woke up later, it was morning and Jaina was gone.
…
Present Day.
"…And that was the last time I saw my dad or my sister," Sora finished telling everyone his story. "When I woke up, I told Mom what Jaina had done. She looked everywhere for Jaina, but she had already left the Islands somehow," he said.
"What did your father do for a living?" Dragonborn inquired.
"I don't know, he never told me. But Obi Wan said he was the Last Jedi, whatever that is," Sora said.
"Sounds pretty important," Aela remarked.
"Indeed, it does, but we don't have any idea where they might be," Courier stated bluntly. "They could be anywhere in the universe," she said cynically.
"Obi Wan said to seek out my family, meaning my sister. She could help us find my dad," Sora replied.
"Are you sure that's who Obi Wan meant? Was there anyone else in your family?" Serana asked.
"It's gotta be. It's always been the four of us," Sora said.
"Either way, you'll need help to find your family along with Kairi," Dragonborn stated.
"Definitely," Veronica agreed.
"And I think it's high time you left this world to begin your search," Maz said to them wisely.
Everyone agreed and they said their goodbyes to Aladdin, Abu and Carpet before heading to the Gummi Ship.
As they boarded the Gummi Ship and departed Agrabah, they failed to notice a smaller ship hovering nearby. The pilot smiled beneath their helmet and said one sentence.
"Finally tracked you down, time to bring you home."
…
As the Gummi Ship flew space with Courier and Sora sharing piloting duties, everyone else got some much-needed rest. Dragonborn was in the kitchen galley stirring a pot of stew on the stove. Wisps and curls of aromatic vapor rose from the bubbling viscous liquid that was filled with cuts of meat, vegetables, herbs, and stock. Aela sat at the dining table, sipping from a mug of chilled ale as she watched Dragonborn work the stove calmly and methodically. Veronica then walked into the dining room and spoke.
"Mmm! Something smells good!" the former Scribe remarked. "What's cooking, Doc?" she asked.
"Venison stew," Dragonborn replied without looking up from what he was doing. "Take a seat, it should be finished soon," he said.
"I don't know what venison stew is, but I'm starving!" Veronica said as she took a seat at the table. She watched as Dragonborn worked, "I never would've expected this of you." She added.
"Expected what of me?" Dragonborn asked casually.
"Well, a domestic side," Veronica answered. "If I was to judge you by appearance alone, I would've thought you were some kind of real-life Grognak the Barbarian," she admitted.
"You shouldn't judge a book by its cover," Aela said with a smile behind her ale. "Personally, I rather like this side of Dragonborn," she added.
"You do, huh?" Veronica's eyes sparkled with mischief, and she leaned over towards the redheaded lycan, whispering conspiratorially, "You like him, don't you?". Veronica didn't need an answer from Aela, as the blush on Aela's cheeks told Veronica all she needed to know, making her giggle like a schoolgirl gossiping about boys. Dragonborn either did not appear to hear or was simply ignoring it.
"Have you…? Y'know?" Veronica asked Aela who embarrassedly shook her head in response. "Why haven't you?" Veronica gaped at the redhead in surprise.
"The Leech," Aela groused in response, clearly referring to the only vampire on the ship.
Veronica gave an "Ah," of understanding. "Yeah, I see what you mean. I'd have to be blind not to see how Serana looks at Dragonborn and how you look at him too." She stated plainly.
"I know," Aela muttered grouchily. "And Dragonborn?" The redheaded lycan sighed and whispered, "I don't think he even notices or cares." A forlorn expression was on Aela's face as she stared at the back of Dragonborn with a sad, longing look in her amber-gold eyes.
"Have you ever told him how you feel about him?" Veronica asked kindly. Aela shook her head, her cheeks flaming in embarrassment. "Why don't you tell him then?" Veronica suggested.
"I… I couldn't!" Aela bit her lip, feeling very flustered. "What if… what if he doesn't see me that way? What if he prefers the Leech over me?" she wondered.
"How will you know until you find out?" Veronica said to her. "Here's an idea; if or when you get a chance to be alone with Dragonborn, why not ask him out on a date?" she suggested.
"A date?" Aela echoed.
"Yeah. Take him out to dinner, or see a movie with him, or whatever you guys did to pass the time on your own world," Veronica replied. "Here's a plan: when we're next in Traverse Town, ask Dragonborn out on a date and when the time is right, make a move," she said.
"Make a move? What does that mean?" Aela asked.
"I think you already know," Veronica winked with a knowing smile on her lips, causing Aela's blush to deepen.
"I… I couldn't!" Aela stammered out.
"Really? You don't strike me as the shy, nervous sort," Veronica challenged playfully.
"But what if Dragonborn doesn't…?" Aela tried to say when Veronica cut her off.
"Don't get caught up in what-ifs. Ask Dragonborn out on a date when we're in Traverse Town next, and let it play out from there," the ex-Scribe told the lycan. Dragonborn suddenly came over and placed a bowl of stew in front of Aela and Veronica each.
"Dinner is served," Dragonborn said to them before he called out for the others to join them. Serana, Courier, Sora and ED-E soon joined them for dinner. Serana had her own meal in the form of some Blood potions she had been brewing in the chemistry/alchemy lab. Courier took off her Riot helmet and set it down on the table and ran a hand through her sweat slicked and mussed-up hair.
"Sometimes this thing feels like it's a part of my face," she said as she took a spoonful of venison stew and ate it, giving a sigh of relief. "Best thing I've had in ages," she declared.
Others began to eat as well and each of them declared that it was delicious. "Who cooked this?" Sora asked as he ate his stew.
"Dragonborn did," Veronica told the Keyblade wielder. Sora's and Courier's eyes widened in surprise.
"You cooked this?" Courier asked Dragonborn who nodded his head having taken off his helmet to eat. "What did you put in it?" she then asked in apprehension.
"Venison, carrots, leeks, potatoes, herbs, stock and some salt & pepper," Dragonborn replied casually as he ate a spoonful of his stew.
"Huh, would've thought you grabbed the nearest carrion carcass and threw it in the pot to cook," Courier remarked sarcastically as she pulled out a bottle of whiskey from her satchel, uncorking it and pouring the contents of it into her bowl. Dragonborn watched as Courier did so and Veronica nudged her leg. "What?" Courier asked the ex-Scribe who jerked her head at Dragonborn. Courier looked at Dragonborn who watched her impassively. "Oh, right, sorry," she mumbled as she put away the whiskey in her satchel and resumed eating.
"This is really good stew," Sora said to change the mood. "Who taught you?" he asked Dragonborn.
"Self-taught," Dragonborn said simply in reply.
"You taught yourself how to cook?" Veronica asked in surprise. "How was your first try in cooking something?"
"Not too good. Burnt it until it was black," Dragonborn replied. "But after some trial and error, I managed not to burn anything to a crisp," he said modestly.
"Never would've thought you'd have such a domestic side to you," Courier commented with a rare smirk on her lips.
"Had to learn in order to feed myself and live off the land when on the road," Dragonborn said bluntly.
"Can't argue with that," Courier said sagely. "I've learned to cook up a few things in my time on the road," she added.
"What kind of things would you make?" Sora asked her.
"Whatever I could get my hands on that was edible," Courier replied. "Wild dogs, molerats, bighorners, geckos, mantises, anything at all really," she said. "Heck, if there were times that I could kill a Deathclaw, I'd be eating good for weeks!" she added.
"What's a Deathclaw?" Sora asked. Others around the table who were not native to the Mojave Wasteland all gave murmurs of assent wanting to know as well.
"A Deathclaw? Heheh, well, it's one of the deadliest predators of the Wasteland. Apex predator, top of the food chain," Courier replied with a grim smile. "Big giant mutated lizard that somewhat resembles a prehistoric dinosaur, with long sharp claws that can slice through almost anything in mere seconds, hence its name," she said.
"Sounds pretty scary," Sora stated.
"Yeah, and God help you if you come across a nest of Deathclaws," Courier said grimly. "I had to clear out a nest of Deathclaws for some miners back in the Mojave," she added.
"How did you do it or even survive?" Aela asked.
"With a lot of patience and planning, plus a lot of guns and ammo," Courier said casually, then a beeping noise alerted everyone. "Sounds like we're coming to another world," Courier added as she finished the last of her stew and stood up from her seat. "I'll go check it out," she offered and without waiting for a reply, left the dining room.
"I'll clean this up," Dragonborn said as he prepared to wash the dishes.
Veronica nudged Aela and nodded at her encouragingly. "Let me help you, Harbinger," Aela said loudly as she stood up from her seat and helped Dragonborn take away the plates.
"Do as you wish," Dragonborn said casually. Aela suppressed a smile as she assisted Dragonborn in washing the dishes. It also sent a small spark of triumph in the werewolf's mind as there was a slightly annoyed look in Serana's red eyes.
…
After the dishes were washed, rinsed, dried, and then put away, everyone joined Courier in the cockpit. Outside the window lay the next world before them.
"Interesting, it… it looks like Earth," Veronica commented. "But it doesn't look like it's been nuked to hell," she then said.
"Yeah, and a lot of cities are still standing," Courier said as she brought up some images on the monitor screen. "Plus, there are, and I can't believe I'm saying this, costumed heroes and villains," she then added.
"Cool! Superheroes are real here?" Sora asked in awe as he watched the screen of a red and gold armoured man flying through the air and blasting energy beams from his palms and chest. "That's so cool!" Sora exclaimed.
"It looks interesting," Veronica stated. "Who are the main 'heroes?'" she asked.
"I had ED-E hack into a government database and looked up some files from a newspaper," Courier said with ED-E beeping in confirmation. "There is one group of heroes we should take note of; they're fairly new, but very competent. They call themselves 'the Avengers'," she added.
"Who are their members?" Dragonborn enquired.
"There are eight members in total," Courier said as she brought up the first image. "Tony Stark, billionaire industrialist who once made weapons for a government agency known as SHIELD, but quit making weapons and made a suit of highly advanced power armour and started calling himself Iron Man."
Then the image of a tall imposing looking man with long blonde hair wearing armour, a scarlet cape, a winged helmet, and wielding a hammer that summoned lightning. "Next, we have Thor, the Prince of Thunder. Guy claims to be a God from Norse mythology and comes from a world called Asgard."
"Is he really a god? Or just delusional?" Serana asked.
"Don't know, but he packs a wallop with that hammer of his," Courier replied before bringing up the next image, this time of a man and a woman, a couple from the looks of it. "Professor Hank Pym and his partner Janet Van Dyne, respectively known as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Evidence shows they can shrink down to miniature form, although Ant-Man can also grow to gargantuan size. He is also said to have the ability to control and communicate with ants using a special helmet. I don't know if Wasp can do the same with her namesake, but she can fly around with a pair of wings."
"Moving along, we have Doctor Bruce Banner AKA the Hulk." A video was shown of a seemingly normal if a bit haggard looking man turning in a large, green-skinned giant that started to destroy things. "Guy was hit with a fatal dose of Gamma radiation. Back home, you'd either die or be turned into a Ghoul if exposed to that much radiation. But this guy survived and can mutate into a large Super-Mutant that gets stronger the angrier he gets. He was a fugitive for a long time before he helped some heroes out and became a founding member of the Avengers."
The next video showed a man wearing a purple costume and wielding a bow and arrows. "And here we have Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye, expert marksman and master archer. He was also a one-time agent of SHIELD before he was arrested for a crime that he didn't commit, but not long after he became a member of the Avengers after helping them out," Courier said.
Then a video of a man wearing a black outfit with a helmet with ears that covered his entire head and face with clawed gauntlets on his arms. "And next we have T'Challa the King of the Sovereign Nation of Wakanda and known as the Black Panther. He wears a special suit made of a rare metal called vibranium that is virtually indestructible and can absorb energy of nearly every kind."
The last video showed a tall muscular man wearing a red, white, and blue uniform wielding a round circular shield in the same colour scheme with a white star in the middle. "And lastly, we have Steve Rogers AKA Captain America. Guy was once a skinny and sickly weakling that got treated with a super-soldier formula that turned him into the beefcake we see today. And the guy is old. He might not look it, but he came from the World War 2 era fighting a group of terrorists called HYDRA and he literally got himself frozen in a block of ice on his last mission against them and it was only just recently that he was thawed out."
"HYDRA, who are they?" Sora asked.
"A group that's been around for a long time since the beginning of World War 2," Courier replied. "Their original leader was a man called Baron Zemo. HYDRA's current leader is Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. Guy comes from World War 2 just like Captain America, but instead of being frozen in ice, Strucker uses a magical gauntlet called the Satan Claw that allows him to drain the youth, vitality and life force of his victims, keeping him young, healthy and strong," she said.
"Damn… what's the tech level of this world like?" Veronica asked.
"Very advanced," Courier replied. "Definitely outstrips some of the stuff back home such as the Iron Man armour being able to fly for prolonged periods of time and even having energy shielding," she said. "Then there's SHIELD's base of operations called the Helicarrier; it's basically a massive flying aircraft carrier battleship," she added.
"Could we contact this SHIELD and let them know of our intentions?" Dragonborn asked.
"Under any other circumstances, I'd say no problem to that, but then I looked up their director, Nick Fury, and did some digging," Courier said. "The guy's got a heap of dirt under his fingernails and a nightmare of a resumé. He created a supervillain known as Graviton while trying to recreate the super-soldier formula, albeit unintentionally, and locked the guy up in a secret prison known as the Raft, and that's just the start of the things he's done," she added.
"Have to look at it this way; he's willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done," Dragonborn remarked. "Makes him good at his job, but at the same time, it doesn't make him a good person," he then said wisely.
"Who can we trust on this world?" Sora asked.
"Much as I hate to suggest it, these Avengers seem like the only guys we can trust to help us out," Courier stated.
"Perhaps we ought to do some scouting first?" Aela suggested helpfully. "Get the lay of the land and get the measure of these heroes," she added.
"It does sound like the best choice," Serana said nodding her head in thought.
"Agreed. We head down there and learn as much as we can," Dragonborn stated. "Any objections?" he asked everyone, and nobody answered. Dragonborn shook his head in approval and said, "Then let's go."
Courier then piloted the ship down towards the planet, activating the cloaking shield to conceal them from plain sight.
…
As the Gummi Ship cloaked itself from sight, the pilot of the ship that had been following them from a distance said, "You're not getting away from me that easily, but I suppose you have the right idea." Flipping some switches on the console of her ship, she prepared to descend to the planet.
…
Hiding the Gummi Ship in a wooded glade of the area known as Central Park, Sora and his friends disembarked. Aela looked around and smelled the air. "Quite the stench this place has," she remarked as her nose wrinkled in distaste.
"It doesn't smell that bad to me," Sora said shrugging his shoulders.
"Meh, it doesn't smell as bad as Freeside, but it is up there," Courier observed as she checked her guns, making sure they were loaded with fresh ammo before holstering them.
"So, where is the base of this Avengers team?" Serana asked.
"Place called Avengers Mansion," Courier replied before she looked at ED-E and said to him, "Okay, ED-E, you know what to do." ED-E beeped in response before beginning to float ahead of the group. "ED-E will lead us to the Avengers Mansion. Let's move!" Courier stated and they followed the Eye-bot.
As the group made their way down the street, they got a lot of odd looks from passers-by. Those who took note of this eclectic group wondered if they cosplayers. Others wondered if they were a new group of heroes. Some people even brought out their phones and began filming and taking pictures.
…
Avengers Mansion.
In the training simulation room below the Mansion, a pair of figures traded strikes and blows in a sparring ring. Outside of the sparring ring were two other figures. The first of the two persons in the ring was a tall muscular blonde man that would fit the very stereotype of an American with short-cunt blonde hair, deep blue eyes, and handsome features. The second figure in the ring was of smaller stature with dark brown hair and a close-cropped beard and moustache and dark brown eyes but still looked handsome in the sense of a suave, debonair businessman.
The blonde man wore a sleeveless shirt and blue pants and grappling gloves on his large hand. The dark-haired man wore a sleeveless shirt with black pants and grappling gloves adorning his hands and he wore some protective headgear on his head.
The dark-haired man tried to strike the blonde haired with a punch. The blonde man avoided the strike with ease and spoke, "You're telegraphing, Tony. You need to centre yourself," he advised. "I can see each punch you make before it even lands," he said.
"Well, excuse me if I haven't had the formal training you've had, Rogers!" Tony Stark retorted in an annoyed voice. "This'd go a lot different if I was wearing the suit!" he muttered to himself.
"There'll be times where you won't have the suit, Tony," Steve Rogers reminded his opponent/pupil. "If you're nothing without the suit then you don't deserve to have it in the first place," he said sternly. Tony merely grumbled and tried to centre himself like Steve suggested.
"C'mon, Stark! Kick Steve's ass!" Janet Van Dyne called out in encouragement. Standing beside Janet silently observing the bout between Iron Man and Captain America was T'Challa currently not wearing his Vibranium suit. The Wakandan King calmly observed the fight, taking note of the fighting styles that Tony and Steve employed.
"Who do you think is gonna win this?" Janet asked T'Challa who hummed in thought before giving a calm measured reply.
"Steve has years more training and experience than Tony could boast of. Tony mostly relies on the Iron Man armour to fight his battles for him," the Black Panther said. "This is the reason Steve is trying to teach Tony some unarmed fighting techniques without the use of his armour," he added.
"So, say Tony has his Iron Man, who do you think would win?" Janet then asked.
"The Iron Man has vast capabilities, but Steve has experience fighting technologically superior foes," T'Challa said. "His wartime experience fighting HYDRA has proven that time and again," he added.
"So, Steve would win hands down?" Janet asked humorously.
"I did not say that," T'Challa corrected gently. "Tony is gifted with great intelligence and had managed to turn the tides to his favour in many of his battles," he said. "It would be a close fight. I am not entirely certain as to who would win," he added. He then looked at Janet and asked her, "If I may ask, who do you think would win?"
"Good question." Janet out a finger to her chin in thought. "A lot of what you said about Steve and Tony is true, but I'd put money on Tony in his Iron Man armour," she said.
"If that it what you believe," T'Challa said with a nod of his head.
"What? You'd put money on Steve if he went up against Tony in his Iron Man armour?" Janet asked with a laugh.
"I have faith in both Steve and Tony," T'Challa said blandly. "I am not one to ask whether either of them would win in a fight against each other," he added plainly.
Janet poked her tongue out. "You're no fun!" she complained.
Tony went down to the floor panting for breath whereas Steve hardly looked winded.
"You okay in there, Tony?" Janet called out to Iron Man who raised a hand half-heartedly while trying to regain his breath. "I think you wore Tony out, Steve," the Wasp then said to Steve who shrugged his shoulders in response.
"Rest break, Stark. You get five minutes then we're back at it," Steve then said to Tony who groaned in response.
Then a British accented voice spoke through the speakers in the training room. "If you'll pardon this interruption, Masters Stark, Rogers, T'Challa and Miss Van Dayne, but we have some curious visitors at the front gates of the Mansion," the AI Butler/Major-Domo of Tony Stark.
"Visitors?" Tony parroted as he pulled himself up to sitting position. "Show them on screen," he told the AI. Soon a holographic video image showed a group of strange people standing at the front gates of the Avengers Mansion. Tony and everyone else raised their eyebrows at the curious sight. Three of the individuals vaguely reminded the Avengers of Thor in that Northern/Viking/Asgardian style with a tall black armoured knight and a redheaded woman wearing leather and iron armour and a dark-haired woman wearing red and black robes and a hood over her head. The next three gave off a Mad Max vibe with a person wearing some kind of repurposed Riot armour with a trench coat and a variety of firearms, and a young woman wearing some kind of brown robe carrying a pistol, a strange advanced looking gauntlet and a large advanced if rusty looking hammer and a small floating robot the size of a basketball fitted with all kinds of antennae and sensors. The last of the group was a young boy that looked barely fourteen and holding in his hand a large key in his hands.
"Who are these guys?" Janet asked. "Are they Asgardians?" she said referring to the first three of the group.
"Maybe if Thor were here he'd be able to tell us," Steve said. "But that Key the boy is holding is vaguely familiar," he added as he had a faraway if nostalgic look in his eyes.
"Yes, that Key reminds me of a story told to me when I was a child," T'Challa said. "Should we let them inside and see what they want?" he asked.
"They obviously wouldn't be here if they didn't want something from us," Steve said.
"Let them in, Jarvis," Tony said as he pulled himself to his feet. "If they're here to cause trouble, we just kick them out," he added.
…
HYDRA Island.
From an observation room, an elderly looking man wearing a green uniform and a monocle over one eye watched the scene below of a factory floor. On a factory floor, HYDRA scientists and machinery were churning out of strange devices and new machines.
Baron Von Strucker smiled to himself in a sinister way. Walking up to stand beside the leader of HYDRA was the Black Widow AKA Natasha Romanoff who had betrayed SHIELD to defect to HYDRA. Strucker's right-hand woman Madame Hydra had aired her concerns that Romanoff was still working for SHIELD, but Strucker had waved off such concerns citing that Romanoff had thus proven to be loyal to HYDRA's cause.
"Sir, Lord Kylo Ren and Father Elijah have requested an audience," the redheaded Russian spy said in her cold formal way.
"Send them in," Strucker responded. Black Widow and left the room before returning a moment later with Kylo Ren and Father Elijah along with some First Order troopers.
"Lord Kylo, Herr Elijah, this is an unexpected pleasure," Struck said with a thin smile. "I must thank you both for providing HYDRA with these new weapons and technologies," he added.
"I am glad you like what we have provided you, Baron Strucker," Father Elijah replied. "But we have not come to listen to your praises," he then said.
"Of course not," Strucker said calmly. "What is the reason you have come for then?" he asked.
"The Keyblade wielder and his allies have already arrived on this world," Kylo said.
"A Keyblade wielder?" Strucker had a surprised look on his face. "It has been sometime I have faced a Keyblade wielder," he said and he unconsciously rubbed the scar over the eye that his monocle covered and a deep frown came over his face.
"You have faced those who wield Keyblades before?" Father Elijah asked in interest.
"Indeed I have, Herr Elijah," Strucker said with a look of savage fury on his face. "So to hear that a Keyblade wielder is on this world is enough to garner my attention," he added.
"That is comforting to know," Elijah said with a nod of his head.
"This Keyblade wielder we need alive," Kylo said coldly.
"What reason would you have a Keyblade wielder alive for?" Strucker asked.
"I believe we can use him to draw out the Last Jedi," Kylo stated. "Anything else is classified. Do what you wish with the boy's friends," he said dismissively.
"Very well, if that is what you wish, Lord Kylo, then I shall see it done," Strucker replied. "Is there anything else you wish of me?" he asked.
"Yes, there is," Father Elijah replied. "Among the allies the Key has with him is someone I believe could be converted to our cause," he said. "Which is why I have brought an incentive for her to join," he added before he gave a nod to one First Order trooper who nodded and left the room. A moment later, the trooper returned bringing with him a floating tray. The trooper then lifted up the tray to stand on its edge. Within the tray was a solidified carbonite form of a woman, a look of anguish on her face.
"Who might this be, Herr Elijah?" Strucker asked as he raised an eyebrow in askance.
"Someone who was sent to kill me and someone who is important to the one I spoke of," Elijah stated. "I believe with the proper motivation Veronica could join us," he said with a smile.
"Very well then," Strucker said with a nod. "If there is nothing else?" he asked.
"Capture the boy with the Key alive, that is all I want!" Kylo said harshly before turning around and marched off imperiously. Elijah bowed his head at Strucker before leaving and was followed by the First Order stormtroopers.
"Sir?" Black Widow looked at Strucker who looked at her and said, "you know what to do." Romanoff nodded her head and left the room taking the carbonite form of the captive with her.
Strucker looked back down at the factory floor and smiled with savage glee. "Soon, all of the world will bow to the might of HYDRA!" he said to himself quietly.
…
Sora and his friends found themselves sitting in the living room of the Avengers Mansion where Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther and the Wasp asked them questions.
"So, you're a Keyblade wielder?" Captain America asked him. "Do you happen to know of anyone named Ventus?"
Sora shook his head and replied, "Nope, never heard of anyone named that before."
"What about you three?" Iron Man asked looking at Dragonborn, Aela and Serana. "Are you Asgardians?"
"No. We are from Skyrim," Aela said bluntly.
"And what about you?" Iron Man asked looking Courier, Veronica and ED-E.
"We're from the Mojave Wasteland, tin can," Courier said.
"Mojave? As in the State of Nevada?" Wasp asked.
"Yep, but not your State of Nevada," Veronica replied.
"What do you mean by that, Miss Veronica?" Black Panther asked calmly.
Veronica looked at her friends who nodded at her. Looking at the Avengers, Veronica began to say, "How much do you know of other worlds? Besides your own?" she asked.
"We are aware of other worlds existing," Captain America said in response. "I suppose you're trying to keep the World Order, yes?" he asked and Veronica nodded.
"Yeah, my friends and I are from worlds that didn't know about other worlds," the former Scribe said. "So, to clear this up, me, Courier and ED-E are from a world that was once like yours, same name, same countries, but that all changed when the Great War happened," she explained.
"A Great War? Against whom?" Black Panther asked.
"Well, around two-hundred odd years ago, America was at war with Communist China that ended when China launched dozens, perhaps hundreds of nuclear missiles all across America that forever turned it into the Wasteland," Veronica said.
"Good God! That really happened?" Captain America asked in horror.
"Do you have any proof of this?" Iron Man asked.
Veronica looked at Courier who said to ED-E. "ED-E, play some of your Pre-War logs."
ED-E then began to play some Pre-War logs and even showed some holographic images of how America had been turned into a radioactive Wasteland filled with mutated creatures and desperate survivors. To say the Avengers were shocked was putting it lightly.
"Oh god! This is horrible!" Janet said in shock and disgust and she turned her head away when the image of Super-Mutants and Nightkin killing and eating humans was shown. Steve had a faraway look in his eyes, as though he was reliving memories of his time in World War 2; it was a look of grim stoicism mingled with bitter anger and fear.
"So, your world suffered the worst case scenario," Tony said as he barely managed to get over his shock at seeing the images ED-E had shown. "That doesn't explain what you're doing here," he pointed out.
"We are here because of the Heartless," Serana said from her seat.
"Heartless?" Wasp echoed. "What are they?" she asked.
"Sounds like something I faced back in the War," Captain America said to himself.
"Monsters born of the Darkness inside people's hearts," Dragonborn said. "They're the reason we lost our respective worlds," he added.
"And you think the Heartless are here on this world?" T'Challa asked.
"Every world we've been to so far has had the Heartless on them," Sora said with a nod of his head. "We need to find the Keyhole of this world to stop the Heartless from destroying it," he added.
"Keyhole?" Black Panther said in thought. "I recall legends of my people speaking of the Keyhole and the Keyblade," he added.
"Did they say where the Keyhole of this world might be?" Sora asked.
"Sadly, the legends were vague on such details," T'Challa said regretfully.
"So, what's so special about these Keyholes?" Iron Man asked.
"The Keyholes lead to the Heart of each world," Dragonborn answered. "If the Heartless infest the Keyhole, eventually that world disappears," he explained.
"Okay, so we've got a world crisis on our hands," Iron Man stated nonchalantly. "Nothing we haven't faced before," he said.
"Cocky much?" Courier said mockingly.
"I can back it up, Mad Max," Iron Man boasted.
"We'll see, won't we… Tin Man," Courier shot back rudely and Veronica nudged her leg and shook her head minutely.
"Should we call in Nick Fury for this?" Janet asked. "I mean, this is something concerns the entire world," she remarked.
"Nah, we don't need SHIELD or Fury's interference on this," Iron Man said casually. "Besides, what if Fury gets the idea to use the Heartless to do his dirty work?" he added.
"Oh, c'mon, Tony, Fury wouldn't do something that stupid, right?" Janet said hopefully.
"You forget Fury took a blood sample from Hulk?" Iron Man deadpanned.
"Wasn't it to find a cure for the Hulk?" Janet asked weakly.
"Try saying that to Banner, see how he reacts," Tony said. Looking at Sora and his friends, he asked, "So, you and your pals got any idea of where to look for these Heartless or the Keyhole?"
"Well, we mostly stumbled around and found the Keyholes," Sora admitted with an embarrassed blush on his face. "And the Heartless show up as soon as we arrive on a world," he said sheepishly.
"Well, good thing I'm here then," Tony said smugly. "Jarvis! Have all satellites begin scanning the globe for any Heartless monsters and the Keyhole," he called.
"At once, sir," said the AI Butler.
"You've got an AI butler?" Sora asked in awe. "Cool!" he said.
"Ain't it just?" Tony said smugly.
Then a loud beeping rang through the Mansion and Jarvis spoke through the speakers. "Sir, I've detected a disturbance outside the Mansion," the AI said.
"Zemo and his buddies?" Tony asked.
"I can't rightly say, sir, they appear to coming out of thin air," Jarvis replied.
"On screen then, Jarvis," Steve ordered and a holographic image of Shadows, Soldiers and Large Bodies were shown.
"Heartless!" Sora exclaimed and he summoned his Keyblade and ran outside.
"Wait! We need a plan!" Steve called out to the Keyblade wielder. Looking at Sora's friends, the Sentinel of Liberty asked, "Does he always run headfirst into danger?"
"Usually," Dragonborn said. "But he turns out fine in the end," he added casually before he drew his sword and followed after Sora.
"Well, the enemy is knocking on our doorstep," Tony said casually. "Be rude not to say hi," he added as his suit's repulsors lifted him into the air and he flew through the hallway into the outside.
"Well, when in Rome," Wasp quoted before she shrunk down to miniature form and flew outside.
"We need a plan!" Steve complained as he readied his Vibranium shield and ran with the others to engage the Heartless outside.
"Make it up as we go, Soldier-Boy!" Courier said to him as she drew Medicine Stick from her back and rocked the lever loading a fresh round into the chamber.
…
Once outside, the Avengers saw that Iron Man, Sora and Dragonborn were fighting the Heartless. Tony used his suit's repulsors to blast away any Shadows that crept up on him. Sora was taking on any Soldiers that appeared and Dragonborn was engaging the Large Bodies. Then some Air Soldiers appeared and tried to dive-bomb the heroes, lashing out with sharp red claws. Aela smoothly drew her bow and fired off arrows at the Air Soldiers destroying them. Courier took aim with her rifle and fired off some 45/70 Semi-Wad Cutters at some Large Bodies, destroying in explosions of black mist.
Veronica pulled Oh Baby from her back and took hefty swings with it into some soldiers and Captain America assisted her, tossing his Vibranium shield at the Heartless. The round shield ricocheted and bounced off Heartless soldiers and shadows destroying them before it bounced off a Large Body and back towards Steve who smoothly caught it by the straps into his arm.
Serana conjured storms of lightning and blasted apart any Heartless. Janet flew around and fired off blasts of energy from her gloves. A Large Body tried to clap its giant hands on Wasp, but T'Challa dug the Vibranium claws of his gauntlets into the Heartless's back, stopping it.
Soon all the Heartless within the vicinity were destroyed. "Is that all of them?" Dragonborn asked as he looked around cautiously.
"We've defeated them. For now," Aela then said.
Then the sound of something whistling through the air alerted Captain America who looked and blanched in shock. "Incoming!" he bellowed in alarm and everyone scattered as large green metal tentacle slammed down on the street.
"What the fuck was that?!" Courier swore as she looked up and saw what vaguely resembled a robotic octopus with a skull-like face and a large cannon atop its head. "What the fuck am I looking at?" Courier said in disbelief.
"HYDRA!" Captain America exclaimed in shock and anger. "Evacuate civilians and take down that HYDRA Tank!" he ordered.
"Understood, Captain!" Black Panther said before he grabbed Veronica and Serana. "With me!" he told them and the two women did not argue.
"Iron Man, you got anything to take that thing down?" Captain America asked.
"A Uni-Beam should do the trick!" Iron Man said in a serious voice.
"Do it then!"
The arc-reactor on Tony's chest began to glow as the Uni-Beam weapon of the Iron Man began to power up. Suddenly bolts of lasers pinged harmless against his armour, breaking Iron Man's concentration.
"What the hell?" Tony uttered as he looked and saw HYDRA soldiers and robots running towards him and the others. "I need time to charge up my Uni-Beam! Keep those goons off me!" he said to his allies.
"Understood!" Steve replied. "You heard him! Take down those HYDRA goons!" he said to his allies.
Dragonborn needed no encouragement as he charged towards the HYDRA soldiers and prepared to cut a swathe through them when suddenly, appearing out of nowhere were vaguely transparent blue holograms of men wearing HYDRA uniforms.
"Gods, what is this?" Dragonborn asked when suddenly the holograms began firing laser beams from their heads. Dragonborn ducked and weaved to avoid the incoming laser fire.
"What are these things?!" Janet yelled as she tried to fire a bolt from her gloves at the holograms only for it to pass harmlessly through the projection.
Courier had a look of shock underneath her Riot helmet. This was something she had seen before. "Get back!" she shouted. "Find the projectors!" she ordered.
"What projectors?!" Aela asked as she used her shield to block a laser from a hologram.
"You have to find the hologram projectors and destroy them! That's the only way you can stop the holograms!" Courier shouted before she looked at ED-E. "ED-E! Scan the area!" she ordered the Eyebot who gave a confirmative beep and began to scan the area with his sensors.
The HYDRA robots slowly marched towards the heroes, lifting their arm cannons. But instead of firing powerful lasers, they sprayed out a red gass. Courier froze up in alarm and bellowed, "Get back! Get back now!"
"Why?!" Janet and she got her answer when she was engulfed by the red gas and fell to the ground coughing, spluttering before vomiting.
"Shit!" Courier cursed as she fired all the rounds in Medicine Stick at the HYDRA robot, reducing it to scrap metal and circuitry. Quickly scooping up Wasp, Courier retreated just in time as the HYDRA robot exploded in a cloud of red mist. "Get back! Don't argue with me!" she roared.
"Avengers! Fall back!" Captain America ordered and the heroes moved
Then suddenly, just as Sora and Veronica ran to their friends, they were sprayed with the red mist. The two fell to the ground coughing and spluttering before going insensate.
"Veronica?!" Courier screamed before giving a howl of rage as she pulled out Lucky and fanned the hammer, charging forward to rescue her friends. A HYDRA soldier armed with some kind of weapon stepped in front of her and sprayed out the red mist. Courier moved back instinctively and Iron Man flew in and blasted his repulsors at the HYDRA soldier who then sprayed him with the red mist.
"Argh!" Tony screamed as his HUD interface flashed alarms and the outer shell of the Iron Man armour began to corrode at an alarmingly rapid rate. Iron then fell to the ground with a groan of agony.
The HYDRA soldiers then scooped up Sora and Veronica and left the scene via a Dark Corridor.
"Veronica!?" Courier screamed in anguish. The holograms suddenly disappeared leaving the street barren.
"Janet? Janet! Answer me!" Steve shouted as he looked at the unconscious form of Wasp in the palm of his hand.
"Let me," Dragonborn said to the super-soldier as his hands glowed golden and he held them above Janet and she was suddenly surrounded by ribbons of gold light. Janet came to with a cough and splutter.
"Oh, my throat!" the Wasp wheezed in pain. "What happened?" she asked in a hoarse voice.
"I'd like to know that as well," Steve said grimly and he looked at Courier. "What were those holograms and red mist?" he asked sternly.
"You got time for a story?" Courier said in a low voice.
…
An hour long explanation later, Captain America sighed. "Good God, this is a catastrophe!" he exclaimed. "If HYDRA has been given this new technology, they'd have all they need to wipe everyone off the board!" he said in horror.
"That's what Elijah intended to do with the Sierra Madre technology," Courier said grimly as she took a swig from a bottle of Tequila she swiped from the liquor cabinet. "He wanted to use the Cloud to wipe out everyone from the Mojave and leave it all for himself and turn the Mojave into his own nation." Courier gave a bitter sigh before she took another hefty swig of Tequila and swallowed the liquid barely making a face at the burning in her throat.
"Is there a way the Cloud can be stopped?" T'Challa asked.
"It's a self-replicating toxin. I'm not sure it can be stopped," Courier replied. "I've used some of the Cloud residue to brew up some concoctions that were beneficial," she said as an afterthought. "But I don't know if it can be completely destroyed," she added grimly.
"So why take Sora and Veronica?" Serana asked. "What reason would HYDRA take them?"
"Back in the War I had the help of a Keyblade wielder named Ventus who helped me and the Howling Commandos take out many of HYDRA's forces," Steve said. "Perhaps they think Sora has some connection to him?" he suggested.
"Ventus? Who was he?" Dragonborn asked.
A sad nostalgic look came over Captain America's face as he replied, "Ventus… was my best friend during the War. He came from another world much like you and your friends, but he was devoted to doing what was right and became an honorary Commando."
"Where is he now?" Aela asked gently.
"I don't know," Steve said sombrely. "I don't even know if he's even still alive," he added with a depressed look on his face.
"It must be tough to be in a new world, far from everything you know and all your friends gone," Dragonborn said sympathetically.
"It is," the Sentinel of Liberty said in agreement before sighing and stood up straight. "But that'll have to wait for now. We have a bigger problem at hand."
Then Tony Stark walked, bare of his Iron Man armour. "Stark? Are you okay? How are you holding up?" Captain America asked.
"I've been better," Tony admitted. "That Cloud really did a number on the suit and it was the latest Mark I'd made," he said before shrugging his shoulders adding, "Eh, but I can always make a better one."
Janet walked in with a respirator over her mouth. "Wasp? You shouldn't up! Who knows what that Cloud stuff did to you?" Steve said as he walked over to Janet.
Janet removed the respirator from her mouth and replied, "I'll live, Steve. Right now I'm looking for some payback!"
"Any idea where HYDRA might have taken Sora and Veronica?" Dragonborn asked the question on everyone's mind.
Steve looked at Iron Man who smirked and said, "It just so happened that I got my full-body facial, I hit a HYDRA goon with a tracer." He then held up a computer tablet that showed a radar image of an island. "Traced them to an Island in the Pacific," he nonchalantly added and he looked at everyone and asked, "Anyone up for some avenging?"
"Try and stop me!" Courier growled out as she skolled the last of her Tequila and reloaded her guns in readiness.
Everyone then boarded the Quinnjet and jetted off the HYDRA base of operations to rescue their friends and stop HYDRA's plans for world domination.
…
Sora's eyes flickered open and he gave a groan as his vision was blurry for a few second before coming into focus. Soon a tall man wearing black half-robes and a full face helmet came into view.
"Finally awake, are we?" the man asked. "Good. Now we can begin," he said.
"Who-Who are you? Where are my friends?" Sora demanded.
"Hard to believe you are the Keyblade's Chosen," the mysterious man said in disbelief, ignoring Sora's questions. "But you are a Son of Skywalker. Of that there is no doubt," he declared.
"How do you know my father?!" Sora asked angrily.
The man chuckled darkly and answered Sora's question with, "I was his greatest student, but he feared my power and tried to destroy me. Obviously he failed. But when I realised that he still lived, he managed to escape my grasp." His gaze then bore into Sora. "I believe you know where he is," he said in an accusatory manner.
"Even if I did know, I'd never tell you!" Sora said stubbornly.
"We shall see," the man said before he raised his hand towards Sora. Sharp lancing pain seared Sora's skull. "I see an island…" The man chuckled stated, "I see your father abandoned you. I know what that's like."
"Get… out of… my head!" Sora said through gritted teeth and grunts of pain.
"You're trying to think of different things," the man remarked. "Favourite colour… ice cream flavour… clever… but not clever enough!" The pain grew more intense for Sora and the man continued. "I see some familiar faces… our own champion… the redheaded girl you both seek… and a…"
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" Sora shouted and the masked man was sent flying back into the wall. The masked man slowly got back onto his feet and Sora was shocked how he did that.
"Well, it appears you managed to resist me," the masked man said. "Supreme Leader Snoke will want to know this," he added ominously. "If I can get you to tell me where Skywalker is, perhaps I can make him come to you?" he suggested.
The man turned to leave the room, but not before saying to Sora, "Enjoy your stay." Leaving the room the masked man looked at the two HYDRA guards standing on either side of the door and said to them, "Guard this door and make sure the prisoner doesn't leave!" The masked man then left the down the corridor.
After the masked man left, on the opposite end of the corridor, a lone figured snuck and saw the two guards before drawing a weapon from a holster.
…
In another room, Veronica came to and the first thing she saw was the familiar face of her disgraced mentor, Father Elijah.
"Elijah…" A single tear rolled down Veronica's cheek as she looked at the man who had virtually raised her and taught her everything she knew. "I don't believe it!" she cursed.
"Hello, Veronica," Elijah said in an almost grandfatherly voice.
"Why? Why join with Maleficent? Don't you know what she's doing?!" Veronica asked angrily.
"I have my reasons," Elijah said soothingly. "Besides, I am indebted to Maleficent for rescuing me from what could very well have been my own tomb," he added.
"The Sierra Madre," Veronica said. "Courier told me what you did there. What you did to Christine!" she spat hatefully.
"Yes, Christine," Elijah muttered. "Did you know that she was recruited into the Circle of Steel and sent to assassinate me for my… indiscretions?" he asked casually.
"For all the pain you caused, I'd say Christine was in the right to kill you!" Veronica hissed.
"Yes, but she would've been perfectly happy to let me rot away in the Sierra Madre Vault had it not been for Maleficent's intervention," Elijah said. "All that data could've changed everything if I had been able to use it," he added. A smile crossed the disgraced Elder's bearded lips as he then said, "But thanks to Maleficent, I am now able to use it."
"You're insane," Veronica said in horrified comprehension.
"Well, a few weeks stuck in a dark vault will do that to you," Elijah said with a chuckle. "But now I've seen all that there is to be had among the worlds. All that technology and data, just waiting to be used by the right person," he declared with greed in his eyes.
"You were a part of the Brotherhood of Steel! You were to preserve technology to stop it from being used to cause another apocalypse!" Veronica said in disbelief.
"Hmph… the Brotherhood were fools," Elijah said with an impassive look in his eyes. "They want to hoard and hide technology away when it could be used to make them the dominant power in the Wasteland. And they limit themselves to old pre-war technology, never thinking to invest in new technologies!"
"If the Brotherhood did that, they'd be no better than the Enclave!" Veronica stated.
"If the Brotherhood had listened to my suggestions, we wouldn't have been forced into hiding," Elijah said coldly. "And maybe Christine might've stayed with you," he added.
"Don't you dare talk about Christine that way!" Veronica growled. "You have no right to talk about her!"
"Still an open wound I see," Elijah remarked. "But it appears we are digressing," he said. "I have an offer for you, Veronica," he stated.
Veronica shook her but Elijah ignored that and continued, "Join me and together we can undo all the mistakes I have made. We can rebuild the Brotherhood of Steel and reclaim the Mojave from the NCR. You can be with Christine again."
"Christine's probably dead because of the Heartless!" Veronica said with tears pouring down her cheeks.
"She's not."
Veronica looked up at Elijah. "Wh-What?" the former Scribe squawked.
"Christine's alive," Elijah said to Veronica. "In fact, she's here right now." He pointed over to the wall and a light illuminated the frozen carbonite form of Christine in stasis.
"Christine?" Veronica gaped like a fish for a moment before she looked at Elijah angrily, "What did you do to her?!" she demanded furiously.
"Christine's alive. She's merely in a state of suspended animation. Frozen in carbonite," Elijah said placatingly. He then looked at Veronica and said to her. "join me and you and Christine will be together again. I won't even try to force you apart. Do we have a deal?"
Veronica looked back and forth between Elijah and the frozen Christine. Before she could give a response, a redheaded woman wearing a form-fitting black outfit entered the room.
"Father Elijah. We have some urgent news," the redhead said in a cold voice.
"I'm a little busy here," Elijah grunted in annoyance.
"The Keyblade wielder's friends are approaching the Island," the redhead stated matter-of-factly. "Lord Kylo and Baron Strucker have requested your presence to assist in the matter," she then said.
"I see," Elijah muttered and he looked at Veronica and said to her, "I'll want your answer when I return." The rogue genius then left the room, leaving Veronica to stare at the frozen form of her lover. Veronica hung her head low and wept silent tears at the harshness of her situation.
…
The Quinnjet flew towards the HYDRA base. Tony was now wearing a new suit of his Iron Man armour, albeit an older model, until he could build a newer version of his armour.
"So, what's the plan when we reach this island?" Serana asked. "They gotta know we're coming for them," she pointed out.
"We know, we can work that to our favour," Captain America replied. "Some of us can stay out and keep the HYDRA forces occupied, while the rest sneak inside and rescue Sora and Veronica and bring down the HYDRA base from the inside," he said.
"But what about HYDRA's new tech?" Wasp asked. "We don't really have an answer for that Cloud stuff or those holograms," she said.
"Courier's told us how to handle the holograms; we just have to find the hologram projectors and disable them," Iron Man said.
"But what about the Cloud?" T'Challa asked. "Do we have an answer for that?"
"We're still working on that," Captain America replied.
"Then you'd better work on it soon, because look ahead," Courier said grimly as she looked out the window and up ahead was a great roiling mass of the Cloud.
"Uh, Cap? We have a plan for this?" Janet asked.
"How much does the Cloud block our path?" Captain America asked Iron Man who read the readout on the radar.
"It only surrounds the Island, but we'd have to fly through it if we gonna get to the island," the genius billionaire said.
Dragonborn rose from his seat and said, "I think I have an idea how to make an opening for us to get through. Can you get us closer?" he asked.
"I can get us close enough, but I do have to ask what your idea is," Iron Man said.
"Just an idea I want to try. I have no idea if it'll work or not," Dragonborn replied. "When we get close enough open the door and I'll do the rest," he said.
"Dragonborn? Are you sure?" Aela asked him in concern. Dragonborn looked at her for a moment and nodded once.
"Very well, I shall put my faith in your, Harbinger," Aela said with a soft smile. "Be careful please?" she asked.
"I will be," Dragonborn said.
Soon Iron Man manoeuvred the Quinnjet within range of the Cloud and opened up the door of the plane. Dragonborn stood on the ramp staring ahead at the Cloud before taking in a deep breath.
"LOK VAH KOOR!"
The Power of Clear Skies dissipated the Cloud, leaving an opening for the heroes to go through.
"He did it!" Iron Man exclaimed in surprise and elation. "We have an opening!" he said.
"Then let's use it!" Captain America said with a smile and the Quinnjet flew through the opening the cloud and just ahead was HYDRA Island. As the Quinnjet flew through, the Cloud came back.
"Well, no turning back now," Janet said.
"Not until we rescue our friends and put an end to HYDRA's schemes, Wasp," Steve said. "But now we know that Dragonborn can dissipate the Cloud with his Voice. He'll be the one on the outside keeping HYDRA occupied along with Iron Man, Courier, ED-E and myself," he stated.
"Aela, Serana, Janet and I will enter the HYDRA base and rescue our comrades and bring the base down from within," Black Panther said and Steve nodded.
"Alright, everyone, you know what to do! Avengers assemble!"
As HYDRA soldiers moved into position to open fire on the Quinnjet, Dragonborn and Captain America dropped down onto the ground. Dragonborn quickly slashed apart two HYDRA troops with his sword before moving onto another pair. Captain America threw his shield and knocked down three troopers before catching his shield in time to block some laser fire from a group of Holograms.
Iron Man, Courier and ED-E had made their way down to the ground and began destroying gun emplacements with their weapons. ED-E scanned the area for hologram projectors and destroyed them with his lasers. This had the desired effect of rendering the Holograms inert. Courier moved calmly and methodically, fired well-placed shots from her rifle at HYDRA troopers. Then a HYDRA-bot stood in front of Courier and she saw that it was about to unleash some of the Cloud from its cannons. Iron Man then landed in front of the Wastelander and fired a rocket from his wrist. The rocket stuck itself in the hull of the HYDRA droid before exploding, leaving a small but thick pocket of the Cloud in its wake.
Courier looked at Iron Man and nodded her thanks before aiming her rifle and firing over Iron Man's shoulder at a HYDRA Heavy Trooper trying to sneak up on him. Iron Man looked at Courier who said to him, "Now we're even." Tony simply nodded at that.
While the battle raged, Black Panther, Aela, Serana and the Wasp snuck into the HYDRA factory unnoticed.
…
Back at Sora's cell, the two guards spotted a figure approaching them and aimed their weapons at her. "Halt! What's your authorisation here?" one guard demanded.
There came a simple response. "Here's my authorisation." Then came the sound of blaster fire outside Sora's cell and the door opened up to reveal a young woman with shoulder length brown hair and wearing a mixture of black leather and armour holding a blaster in her hand. She smiled as she began to say, "Well, took me almost ten years but I finally found you. You did a good job hiding from me, Da…" The young woman stopped dead when she saw Sora strapped to the table. "Sora?!" she yelled in shock and surprise.
Sora's face lit up when he saw his older sister Jaina standing in front of him. "Jaina! I finally found you!" he exclaimed happily.
"What…? How did…? What are you…?" Jaina Skywalker spluttered and gaped like a fish before an angry look came over her face. "What the heck are you doing here? I thought I told you to stay with Mom!?" she said angrily.
"Long story. Can you get me outta this?" Sora asked. Jaina sighed in frustration as she hit the release button and helped Sora off the table.
"Are you okay?" Jaina then asked Sora who nodded. "Good!" Jaina then grabbed Sora by the arm and began to haul him out of the room. "What were you thinking, you knucklehead? Did Riku put you up to this?" she demanded.
"No! Well, I mean, kinda," Sora admitted.
"That boy is nothing but trouble, Sora! He's gonna get you killed one of these days!" Jaina told him. "You gotta start using your head more! Mom's probably worried sick about you!" she said.
"She missed you and Dad too, you know?" Sora reminded. Jaina looked around for anymore guards before saying to her little brother, "Which is why you need to go home! Once we find Riku, I'll drop you both off at Destiny Islands. The First Order will never find you there," she said.
Sora looked at Jaina in surprise; she didn't know what had happened to Destiny Islands. "Jaina? Something happened while you were away… Something awful," he said.
"Can it wait?" Jaina asked him.
"It's gone, Jaina," Sora said sadly and Jaina looked at her little brother and asked, "'It's gone'? What's gone?"
"The Islands. They're gone," Sora said.
Jaina looked at Sora in disbelief and said to him, "Sora… if this is some kinda joke you're pulling, it isn't very funny."
"It's not a joke. Our home is gone," Sora said as he looked at Jaina with a serious and sad look in his eyes.
Jaina looked at her brother for a moment. Sora was a lot of things, but a liar wasn't one of them. Shock, horror and disbelief all ran through Jaina's mind as she said, "How…? Did Mom…? Who could've done this?" she asked.
Then suddenly some Heartless appeared in the corridor. "They did! The Heartless!" Sora shouted. Jaina spotted the Heartless and pulled out her blaster and fired some shots destroying a few. A Soldier Heartless leapt at Jaina but Sora destroyed it with the Keyblade. Jaina gaped at that weapon in Sora's hands.
"Where did you get that Keyblade?!"
"I'll explain later! Right now, we have to get outta here!"
Jaina nodded before she pulled out her lightsaber and pressed the activation button and a purple blade of energy sprung forth. "Stay sharp, Sora!" she told her little brother as they began to fight their way through the Heartless.
…
IN Veronica's cell, she stared at the frozen carbonite form of Christine. The former Brotherhood Scribe felt so miserable and helpless that she was considering Elijah's offer to join him, if only to free Christine and be with her again. Then the lights suddenly went off and the door opened to reveal the silhouette of a woman standing in the doorway.
"Are you here to kill me? Get it over with then," Veronica said in despair. The silhouette approached Veronica and pressed the release button. Veronica gaped in surprise as she rose from the table to watch the figure approach Christine's frozen form and pressed some buttons. A soft red glow lit up the room and Christine fell to the ground groaning in pain.
"Christine?!" Veronica rushed to embrace her estranged lover. Christine stared around blindly and spoke, "Veronica? Is that you? I can't see!"
The figure in the darkness spoke in a disguised voice, "You have hibernation sickness. Your eyesight will return in time," the stranger said. "Stay here, I will clear the way for you," she added before leaving the room.
"Veronica? Is that really you? I'm not dreaming am I?" Tears began to pour from Christine's temporarily sightless eyes.
"It's really me, Christine," Veronica said through her own tears. "You sound different," she added with a slight chuckle.
Christine gave a watery chuckle and replied, "Long story. Can you help me up?" she asked.
Veronica then lifted Christine into her arms bridal style. Christine made to say something but chose to wrap her arms around Veronica's neck and rested her head on Veronica's shoulder.
There was the sudden of gunfire and shouts before suddenly silence reigned and the figure returned to stand in the doorway. "Follow the corridor. It will take you to your comrades who are no doubt looking for you," the stranger said before she turned to leave.
"Wait! Who are you?" Veronica called out to their mysterious saviour.
"None of your concern. I'm a friend, that's all you need to know right now," the stranger said before leaving.
Veronica watched the figure melded with the darkness before hefting Christine in her arms and said, "Follow the corridor and we'll find our friends. I can do this."
"Friends? You have friends?" Christine asked owlishly.
"Yep. Some very special friends," Veronica said with a smile as she carried Christine down the corridor.
…
T'Challa quietly knocked out a pair of HYDRA troopers and dragged them out of sight. Looking down both sides of the corridor, Black Panther nodded in satisfaction and quietly stepped out into the corridor with Aela, Serana and Wasp following.
"So, what's the plan?" Janet whispered to T'Challa who replied, "First we gather any information and data that HYDRA has on their new allies and technology. Then we bring down the factory so that they can't build more of it."
"Simple plan, but will it work?" Serana asked as she looked down a passage and moved back as a HYDRA guard passed by on a routine patrol.
"No plan survives first contact with the enemy," Black Panther said sagely.
Then the group came to a doorway where a pair of holograms stood guard.
"Great! Now what do we do?" Janet asked.
"We find the projectors and disable them and the way will be clear," Aela said matter-of-factly.
"But where could the projectors be? They wouldn't be in plain sight," Janet pointed out.
"From what Courier told me, the Holograms have limited range of sight and can only stay within range of the projectors," Black Panther said. The Wakandan King then looked at Janet and asked, "Can you scout around for the projectors?"
"Sure, but how will I know that those holograms won't be to spot me even when I'm small?" Janet asked playing Devils' Advocate.
"I can cast an invisibility spell on you," Serana offered. "And unless those holograms can see through magic, they won't be able to see you," she said.
"Well, I've always wanted to be invisible," Janet said with a smile. "Look out world? Here comes the Invisible Wasp!" she declared as Serana conjured up her magic and hit Janet with an invisibility spell. Janet then faded from view entirely and she shrunk down to miniature form and flew off to scout around for the hologram projectors.
Janet found the first projector hidden in a vent and disabled it. The first hologram disappeared. Janet scouted around some more found the second projector in the passage behind the second hologram. Hoping that the hologram wouldn't spot her, even with the invisibility spell cast on her, Janet slowly snuck her way past the hologram and breathed a sigh of relief when the hologram didn't spot her. Janet then disabled the second projector and the second hologram was rendered inert.
Janet came back and the invisibility spell wore off. "Piece of cake!" Janet boasted.
"Good work," Black Panther said to her. "Let us hurry!" The four then hurried through the passageway where they found a room with computer terminals.
"Think we can find what we need here?" Aela asked. T'Challa did not answer as he sat at a nearby computer, his fingers flying across the keyboard. Nodding in satisfaction, he pulled out a small drive and inserted it into a computer port. A few more keystrokes and T'Challa downloaded everything he could onto the drive. After downloading everything he could, T'Challa removed the drive and put into his pocket.
"We have everything now, now to delete the originals," he said as he pressed some more keys and soon everything in the database of the HYDRA base was deleted.
Then the door opened and walking through the door was Veronica carrying a bald-headed woman in her arms bridal style.
"Veronica? Are you alright? How did you get free?" Serana asked in surprise and confusion.
"Who is that?" Aela asked looking at the woman in Veronica's arms.
"Someone freed us and told us to follow the corridor and we'd find you guys," Veronica replied. "This is Christine. Elijah had captured her and kept her stasis," she then said.
"A pleasure to meet you, Christine. I am Aela the Huntress," Aela said to the Circle of Steel assassin. Christine looked around blindly and said, "A pleasure to meet you, but you'll forgive if I don't shake your hand. I can't see too well right now."
"What's wrong? Is she sick?" Janet asked worriedly.
"She has hibernation sickness, but she'll recover her eyesight in time," Veronica answered for Christine. "What are you guys doing in here?" she asked.
"We downloaded everything HYDRA has on their allies and technology and we've deleted the originals," T'Challa said. "Unless HYDRA was smart enough to have the foresight to have backups in a separate system, then we needn't fear them replicating more of the technology," he added.
"Good. That's good," Christine said in a tired voice.
"Now we just have to trash the factory and no more HYDRA," Janet said.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Aela asked. They then left the room and headed for the factory.
…
Back in Sora's cell, Kylo Ren returned to see that the Keyblade wielder had escaped his confines.
"No… No… NOOOOO!" Kylo flew into a rage activating his lightsaber and began to slash at everything in the room in a blind seething rage. Standing behind Kylo watching passively were Father Elijah and Baron Von Strucker. Strucker made to say something when Elijah stopped him with a raised hand.
"Let him vent," the rogue genius said. Soon after nearly everything in the room was hacked and slashed into glowing metal pieces by Kylo, Father Elijah spoke calmly. "Are you finished now? Get it out of your system?" he asked.
Kylo whirled around and shouted furiously, "They boy has escaped!"
"I can see that," Elijah said dryly. "No doubt Veronica and Christine have escaped as well," he added. "A pity that…"
"The Avengers and their new allies are already making short work of my troops, Herr Elijah," Strucker then said in a disgruntled voice. "I do not appreciate my troops being fodder," he added archly.
"We'll have the Heartless back your soldiers up," Elijah said placatingly. He then looked at Kylo who was silently fuming and said to him, "Now, if you're done throwing a temper tantrum like an unruly child. We have work to do."
"I know what we have to do, Father Elijah!" Kylo growled out.
"I'm sure that you do, Lord Kylo," Elijah said condescendingly. "Just make sure your temper doesn't get the better of you the next time around," he advised as he, Kylo and Strucker left the room.
…
Outside the earth was strewn with the bodies and ruined husks of HYDRA droids. Thanks to Dragonborn's liberal use of the Clear Skies Shout, the Cloud wasn't able to be used effectively. Captain America took a brief moment to rest and wiped his brow clear of sweat. His suit was dirty and slightly torn in places, but he was otherwise fine.
Dragonborn saw the super-soldier taking a moment to rest and walked over to him, quickly casting a lightning bolt at a HYDRA trooper. The trooper keeled over fried to a crisp. "Are you alright, Captain?" Dragonborn then asked Steve. "Ready for another bout?"
Steve gave a brief chuckle and replied, "What? Getting sleepy?" he joked. Dragonborn smiled underneath his helmet as he looked and saw another HYDRA droid armed with a tank of the Cloud.
Dragonborn took in a breath before using his Thu'um again.
"FUS RO DAH!"
The HYDRA droid was sent flying back and collided with another HYDRA droid and exploded in a shower of scrap metal and debris and the Cloud hissed out of the tank. Dragonborn quickly used his Thu'um again.
"LOK VAH KOOR!"
The Cloud was then dissipated harmlessly and Captain America nodded his head in approval.
"Pretty useful that," he commented.
"It does come in handy from time to time," Dragonborn said modestly.
Courier reloaded her guns while ED-E covered, firing lasers at any HYDRA troopers that came near. After reloading her guns, Courier spun the cylinder of Lucky before pulling back the hammer with her thumb and fired a .357 JFP at a HYDRA trooper armed with a Cloud weapon. The Jacketed Flat Point zoomed towards the HYDRA trooper and made the man's head explode in a spray of red mist.
Iron Man fired his repulsors at a HYDRA droid, destroying it in a shower of metal and scrap before he looked at Courier and asked her, "Holding up there, Mad Max?"
"I can go all night, Tin Man," Courier replied before she took aim and fired another shot at a HYDRA trooper, severing the man's leg at the knee. "You think these guys would get the message and run away right now," she then commented.
"You'd think, but these guys belong to what's practically a cult," Tony said as he fired another wrist rocket at a group of troopers sending them flying from the explosion. "So obviously, they're crazy fanatics," he added sagely.
"I faced something similar back in the form of Caesar's Legion," Courier remarked.
"Caesar's Legion?" Tony echoed.
"I'll explain later once we're finished here," Courier said quickly before Iron Man could ask her. Then appearing out of the ground were Shadows. "Shit! Heartless are here!" Courier shouted as she started to fire her revolver from the hip fanning the hammer with her left hand, destroying Shadows in sprays of black mist.
Steve and Dragonborn quickly saw the Heartless appearing and readied themselves to fight.
…
Inside the factory, Sora and Jaina fought their way past the Heartless until they came to the heart of the factory. "Whoa! Look at all this!" Sora exclaimed as he and his older sister saw the factory churning out new weapons and the Cloud.
"I know just what to do with all this," Jaina said with a smile.
"What are you thinking?" Sora asked quizzically. Jaina simply as she pulled out her blaster and aimed it at a crate of steel drums that had a flammable warning label on them. Firing off a bolt, Jaina smiled in satisfaction as the drums exploded into flames and the flames then began to spread across the factory floor. The scientists and workers tried to put the flames, but Jaina stretched out her hand and the flames then whooshed even further across the factory, blanketing the machinery.
"Cool! How did you do that?" Sora asked.
"I'll tell you later," Jaina simply said in response. "Right now, we've gotta trash this place so they can't make more of it," she declared.
"That's as far as you go," said an imperious voice. Jaina and Sora turned around to see Baron Strucker and Black Widow standing before them. Strucker drew his rapier in his left hand while raising the Satan Claw on his right. "You children and your little friends are proving to be a nuisance. And naughty children will be punished," the HYDRA leader said with an evil grin.
"Sora, I got the Hitler knock-off. You take on Bloody Mary," Jaina said to her little brother who nodded and readied his Keyblade to face Black Widow who raised her hands, her gauntlets crackling with electricity.
Both pairs of combatants stared each other down for a long moment before charging towards each other.
…
On the other side of the factory floor, Aela and the others came onto the scene. "Looks like someone beat us here," the redhead werewolf commented. "Who could've done this?" she asked.
Serana looked over and saw a familiar face. "I have a pretty good idea who," she said with a smile as she pointed over to Sora who was fighting side by side with a young woman against Baron Strucker and Black Widow.
"Who's that Sora's with?" Veronica asked.
"Not sure, but she seems to be helping Sora fight those guys," Janet replied. "T'Challa?" She looked at Black Panther who was silent for a moment before giving a reply.
"We finish what Sora started. We must destroy this factory!" the Wakandan King stated.
"Say no more!" Veronica replied and she handed Christine over to Aela, asking her, "Do you mind?" Aela shook her head and hefted Christine into her arms.
Veronica reached inside her robes and pulled out some C4 plastic explosives. "Anyone feel like watching some fireworks?" she asked humorously before she began to set the C4 into key points that would maximise damage to the factory and render it useless. As the former Scribe set the explosives into place, the Heartless appeared.
"Heartless!" Serana cried out as she started casting Ice spikes and thunderbolts at the Heartless.
"Heartless? What are Heartless?" Christine asked from her spot in Aela's arms.
"Creatures born of darkness. We'll explain later," Aela said to her. The redhead looked at T'Challa and Janet and said to them, "I can't fight while carrying Christine. Can you two…?" she tried to ask when Janet cut her off.
"No problem! We'll make sure no-one gets near you two." Aela nodded her thanks and carried Christine while Black Panther and the Wasp kept the Heartless at.
Veronica finished placing the last of the C4 into a key spot. "Done! Time to get outta here!" she cried out as she started running for the nearest exit.
"You heard her! Time to leave!" Janet quickly said as she flew after Veronica. Aela, T'Challa and Serana followed suit.
…
Back with Sora and Jaina, the pair fought against Baron Strucker and Black Widow putting up a good fight against them. As Sora fought the Russian spy, he couldn't help but notice that she wasn't putting up too much of a fight. His first thought was that she was trying to get him to lower his guard so that she could land a deadly blow. But looking into the redhead's eyes, Sora realised that she wasn't truly on HYDRA's side.
Jaina easily avoided the rapid thrusts from Strucker's rapier and thrust with her lightsaber.
"An interesting weapon you possess, Fraulein. I'd be most interested in having one for myself," Strucker commented as he swung his rapier at Jaina who narrowly avoided the strike.
"It takes years to learn how to use one without cutting yourself in half," Jaina said in response to Strucker's comment. "And from what I see, you've already cut a piece of yourself," she added.
"I assure you, it was intentional," Strucker said calmly as he lunged forward with the Satan Claw outstretched towards Jaina who quickly moved back only to stop when she realised that she was about to fall towards the burning factory floor. Strucker lunged with his sword and Jaina swerved to avoid the blow but Strucker reached out with the Satan Claw towards Jaina's neck. Grabbing the Satan Claw by the wrist, Jaina gritted her teeth and strained to stop it from reaching her neck.
Strucker growled angrily as he slowly reached towards Jaina's neck. A hint of panic was in Jaina's eyes as the red metal claws inched towards her neck.
Then suddenly something struck the HYDRA leader in the back of the head and he fell to the ground unconscious. Jaina looked up in surprise and saw Black Widow standing there with an impassive look in her eyes.
"Go," the Russian spy said to Jaina and Sora. "Take your brother and get out of here before the entire place explodes," she told them.
"Why do this? Why helps us?" Jaina pointed her lightsaber at the Black Widow who looked at her impassively before deigning to give a reply.
"I have my reasons," was all she said as she lifted Strucker into a fireman carry and left the room. "I suggest you hurry," she then advised as she carried Strucker out of the room.
"Should we trust her?" Jaina asked looking at Sora who nodded in response. Deciding to trust her little brother's judgement, Jaina got to her feet and said, "Let's get out of here!" The pair then quickly left the burning factory.
Jaina and Sora soon ran into Sora's friends outside. "Sora! You made it!" Veronica exclaimed and she looked at Jaina and asked, "And who's this? A new friend?"
"Jaina. I'm Sora's older sister," Jaina said quickly. "But that isn't important right now. We have a plan to destroy this factory?" she asked.
"Got ya covered," Veronica said with a smile as she held in her hand a remote detonator. With the press of a button, explosions rocked the factory, making it crumble and explode into smithereens.
"Nice fireworks," Janet remarked humorously as she watched the figurative fireworks.
Captain America, Dragonborn, Courier and Iron Man soon joined the others, having seen the explosions.
"We having a party? And no-one invited us?" Tony asked in mock anger.
"Well, I daresay we could do with a party," Janet said. "Anyone up for some shawarma?" she asked.
"What's shawarma?" Dragonborn asked. "Is it like pizza?"
"You don't know what shawarma is?!" Iron Man exclaimed in horror. "What kind of world do you come from that doesn't know shawarma?!" he asked.
"So, what is it?" Dragonborn said.
"Follow us and you'll find out."
…
At the Avenger's Mansion, a party was quickly held with Tony ordering large amounts of food and drink, including shawarma which was some kind of meat dish in a flatbread wrap with assorted salad and vegetables. Aela bit into her chicken shawarma and chewed.
"So, what do you think, red? Better than pizza?" Tony asked her.
Aela swallowed her mouthful before giving a reply, "It's good, but I think I prefer pizza."
"Eh, can't win them all," Tony said nonchalantly before taking a bit of his own shawarma.
Meanwhile, Sora and Jaina spoke with Steve. "So, Black Widow knocked out Strucker and allowed you both to leave?" the super-soldier asked.
"Yeah," Sora said with a nod of his head. "We asked her why she did it, and she said she had her reasons but didn't say what they were," he added.
"Strange. We thought for sure Black Widow was firmly on the side of HYDRA," Captain America said thoughtfully. "Perhaps there is some good in her yet," he added.
"Maybe. Or maybe she realised that they were fighting a losing battle and decided to cut their losses herself and get out of there?" Jaina said.
"Perhaps," Steve said with a nod of his head. "Either way, you kids did good work today. Far as I'm concerned, you and your friends are Avengers material," he stated.
"Really?" Sora's lit up in excitement. "Do I get a superhero name and everything?" he asked eagerly.
"We'll work something out, son," Steve said with a smile. "For now, let's just enjoy ourselves." He then went over to the food table to pick out some food for himself.
Soon once most of the food was eaten, Iron Man spoke. "Today was an unexpected turn of events, to put it lightly," he began. "But being an Avenger means expecting the unexpected and rising to the occasion when it comes knocking on our doorstep," he then said.
Iron Man then looked at Sora and his friends and addressed them directly. "Thanks to you and friends, we were able to stop HYDRA's plans before they could come to fruition. It'll be some time before they recover." Handing each of them a card, Tony then added, "Consider yourselves honorary Avengers! Welcome to the team."
"Cool, I'm a superhero now!" Sora exclaimed proudly.
Then suddenly a bright flash of light appeared above the hearth and a familiar shape appeared. The Keyhole.
"Sora! The Keyhole!" Serana exclaimed.
Sora raised his Keyblade and a bright beam of white light shot from the tip of the Keyblade and shot into the Keyhole which glowed brightly followed by a loud clicking noise of something locking before the light faded away.
"Another world is safe from the Heartless!" Veronica said in relief.
"So, that was a Keyhole," Captain America said in wonder. "Who would've thought it was right under our noses this whole time?" he added.
"Well, in any case, we won't have to worry about our world being taken by the Heartless," Janet remarked.
"It won't stop the Heartless from attacking," Dragonborn then said. "But at the very least, this world has protectors guarding it," he added.
"Got that right!" the Wasp said proudly. "We're the Avengers after all!" she boasted.
"Well, in any case, it's time we headed off for the next world," Courier stated.
"What? Can't stay a little while longer?" Tony asked her.
"We'll take our shawarma to go then," Courier replied.
Steve then said, "If you all ever need our help, just say when and where."
"Thank you, Captain. We appreciate it," Dragonborn said sticking out a hand to shake which Steve shook.
As they left the Avenger's Mansion for the Gummi Ship, Jaina looked at Sora and his friends. "I believe you all owe me some answers," she said to them knowingly.
"Indeed," Serana replied. "And we have some questions for you too," she said. Jaina nodded not evening denying it.
"So, where's your ship, Jaina?" Sora asked.
"It's fine where it's at for the moment," Jaina said casually. "Let's just get on your ship and get out of here," she added.
Everyone then headed for the Gummi Ship and the Gummi Ship then lifted off into the sky before leaving the world's atmosphere and headed into space.
TO BE CONTINUED…
A/N: There! After almost a year, I finally updated this! I apologise for the wait, but real life got in the way, plus I was waiting on my friend to look this chapter over and help me improve it and he was busy with his own stuff. But at least I updated this now and although I cannot promise regular updates for this story, or any of my other stories, I don't plan on giving this fic up anytime soon.
So, next chapter will be Monstro and a little spoiler, but Sora and his friends find a stowaway on board the Gummi Ship and no it is not Pinnochio. It's someone from the Marvel world. Have fun guessing who it is.
And that's about all I have at the moment, so I'll leave this here and see you all in the next one.
Be kind to one another,
Angry lil' elf.
