F3: Welcome to chapter 8. We left you with the Ruby and company leaving the island and now their had taken shelter in another academy till the ferry arrives. Though their is more to this academy then they realize. RWBY is property of Rooster Teeth. Now with that said Let's Dive In.
Volume 4-8 Extra: Yerning.
As the morning came to the academy Yang was the first one up or so she thought as she noticed both her mother bed and Rubys were absent. Neo was the only one still asleep as she was curled up in a little pink and brown ball with Romans hat nearby. Yang internally squealed as the little teen looked so cute in that position but as much as she wanted to take a picture Neo probably wouldn't like it.
Instead Yang gave her a little shake on her shoulder "Hey. Rise and shine Neo." Yang said.
Neo stirred opening her pink and brown eyes as they softly glared at Yang.
"C'mon I think Ruby and mom headed to find a cafeteria. If this place even has one." Yang said as Neo got up from the bed and grabbed Hush next to the bed and rested it on her shoulder. The two then left to find the other half of their group. Yang however noticed that the girls in the academy were giving them strange looks and even some were whispering to each other.
"Serious what is with that outfit? Is she trying to show off skin?" One of them whispered.
"That one must have more braun than brains I mean look at her chest." Another whispered.
Yang was trying her best not to hurt the two that were obviously whispering about her but she just walked onward with Neo at her heels.
It took them a few minutes but they eventually found where the cafeteria was. When they got their there was huge crowd of female students and it was oddly and yet scaringly quiet in the cafeteria as no one talked only focused on eating the food that was in front of them.
Though it wasn't hard to spot Ruby as she came running toward them.
"Hey sis. Where's mom?" Yang asked.
Ruby looked to her left and then her right before she spoke "She went to scout around the campus see if their is anything strange." Ruby whispered.
"Why are you whispering?" Neo signed.
"When I talked too loud all these girls stared at me like I commited a crime or something. I was really scary and creepy at the same time." Ruby whispered.
"Prehaps we should talk somewhere else so that we're not distrubing them." Yang suggested as the three of them chose to leave the cafeteria and head out toward the courtyard. Though a certain faunus girl saw them leave and decided to follow them.
After finding a quiet place in the courtyard they could finally speak without whispering.
"Okay so what's else is up with this place?" Yang asked.
"Well I've checked what cirriculum they have here at the academy and apparently they have something called fencing and self defense classes." Ruby replied.
"Hm... sounds strange for a academy that's main focus is etiquette and mannerisms to have fencing and self defense part of it." Yang added as Neo nodded.
"Not to mention that the headmistress herself is being very elusive." Raven's voice said from the tree to the right of them.
"Finished flying around the campus." Ruby said.
"Yeah. For an academy this place has security on the same level as Beacon." Raven added.
"Their are four exits in total on all sides of the wall but they are secured tight with a iron barred gate that is also electricifed preventing anyone from getting in or out of the academy. Second they have lookouts in the center tower covering all sides and angles each of them armed with tranquilzer guns." Raven said.
"Okay that is some tight security for just this academy... but why though?" Yang asked.
"Maybe it's not to keep what's on the outside out but to keep everyone else in." Neo signed.
"If that's the case then we might have walked into something that we shouldn't have." Raven replied.
"Or more like led right into." Neo signed her discomfort.
"Hey we could leave at anytime right so..." Yang said before remembering something that her mother said.
"Remember the ferry is still at least two days out. Plus their's something else that is bothering me." Raven said but she gave a gesture toward the nearby door and noticed that someone was watching them.
"Prehaps we should try finding Beatrix? Wonder where she is?" Raven questioned casually as the three younger ones nodded and walked away as they turned the corner.
Felica noticed that they've walked away which confused her a moment as she followed them but once she rounded the corner she stopped suddenly as she was faced with Ravens blade barely touching between the eyes.
"Is their a reason why you are following us?" Raven asked as suddenly Neo, Yang, and Ruby were directly behind her.
"P-Please. I mean no harm." Felica said quickly her Mistrilian accent coming through.
Sheathing her weapon Raven crossed her arms and looked at the girl with a stern look.
"Okay then. Explain to me why you've been watching us?" She asked again more firmer this time.
"It wasn't my idea. Miss Browning ordered me too." Felica said almost sounding scared.
"Beatrix put you up to this." Ruby said.
Felica nodded "Yes. She ordered me to find any useful information about all of you and bring it back to her." She said but she wrapped her arms around herself and looked like she's going to burst into tears.
"But now since you've caught me she'll be very upset with me and she will..." Felica said but her voice hitched as the four of them aren't sure what to do.
Yang however saw the bruise on the girls left arm almost like she was clutching it. Being curious Yang reached for the girls arm.
"Yang! What are you-" Ruby started but once her hand came into contact with the tiger faunus flinched from the sudden grip.
Then she used her other hand to pull back the sleeve to the elbow and it revealed a purple bruise that looked like it hasn't been healed yet. Felica can only look away from her.
"I'm guessing this is what you're talking about." Yang said as she removed her arm from Yangs grip and pulled her sleeve down and rubbing the spot.
"She... punishes us if we ever disobey her or fall out of line." Felica said.
"Does she do this to all the students that fall out of line?" Raven asked.
To her surprise she shook her head "Not everyone. If you do well here then your praised for doing so well but if you're not then...this is what you get." Felica replied.
The four of them could only image what the other girls in this academy were fairing under Beatrix and the other staff members.
Though it made Raven wonder about something about Felica which made her ask another question "Felica. Did you apply here yourself or did your parents force you to come here?" Raven asked.
"Well...my original intent was to apply for Santcum Academy in Mistral to become a huntress since my family never had a huntress. Though my family went behind my back and applied me to this place. I wanted to become a huntress so badly but...I was denied that option entirely due to my lineage." Felica stated.
"Really. That's a shame." Ruby added.
"That's what happens with most families are that of elites. Not giving their own children a chance to do what they please." Raven added.
"Seriously that is completely messed up." Yang said.
"Yeah and their is nothing I can do." Felica replied sadly.
"And I bet talking to Beatrix won't do any good will it." Ruby said.
"No she's normally never around when you need her only showing herself very rarely." Felica added.
That made Raven think a moment about the woman they spoke of. If she's in charge of an academy them shouldn't she make her pressence known to her students.
"Their's something about this academy that is rather puzzling but I just can't put my finger on it. Perhaps I need to look around a little more." Raven said.
"Well I'm having Penny scoping out a map for us. Maybe she'll find sometihing." Ruby added which made Felica look at them weirdly.
"Penny? Isn't their only four of you?" She asked.
Ruby then brought out her scroll and showed her revealing Penny on screen.
"Hello." Penny introduced herself which scared Felica as she stepped back.
"What the?!" She nearly shouted.
"That's Penny. It's a long story but she's an AI basically. How's that map coming Penny?" Ruby asked.
"Ninety percent completed. Estimated completion is two hours." Penny said.
"Thanks let me know when your finished." Ruby said before stuffing her scroll away.
"Well as much as standing around here is nice I think I'm going to head into the village. Haven't had a chance to refill on dust after that mission in Vale." Yang said as she walked off with Neo coming behind her wanting to eagerly get away from the academy.
"I better go to. I don't want to miss class." Felica replied as she ran off quickly.
"She seems like a nice girl. Shame her parents couldn't let her attend a huntsmen academy." Ruby said.
"Ruby. Remember those stealth skills I taught you before you got into Beacon." Raven replied as she nodded.
"I want you to use them to carefully sneak around the academy. See what's really going on here." Raven said as Ruby nodded before walking off herself.
Raven had this feeling in her gut and she wasn't liking it on bit. Her huntress instincts were telling her to remain cautious and to be very carefully of what could come next.
=RWBY=
"Thanks again." Yang said as her and Neo left the small store with a small bag of dust she bought. It wasn't enough but it was better than having nothing at all.
"Man. Fifty lien for a bag of this. Price must've increased due to the trade routes being blocked off." Yang said aloud but Neo had a look like she had something on her mind.
"Hey you good. It looks like you have something on your mind." Yang said. Neo only gave her a gentle nod.
"Cool now how about we..." Before Yang could finish she accidently pumped into someone causing them both to fall.
"Ow okay that was unpleasent." Yang groaned shaking off the fall.
"Get off me you fiendish brute." A young girls voice said underneath her as Yang immediately got off the ground allowing the girl to get up.
She was around Yangs height as she wears the same uniform as those at the academy expect she wears a silver pin on her hat. She has long black hair with a silver polish at the end. Her eye color is bright cyan with white eyeliner.
"Sorry about that I was just-" Yang started but the girl cut her off.
"Just what day dreaming into the sky like a stupid fool. Ignorant. Completely ignorant." The girl said rather rudely.
"Hey take a chill pill will yah. It was a simple accident so you don't need to take it the wrong way." Yang said trying to calm the girl.
The girl only huffed "Well I Kari Winchester will not forget this encounter. What is your name blonde?" Kari said with an authoritive tone.
Yang already wasn't liking this girl for her attitude and her being completely rude.
"Full name or just partical?" Yang asked crossing her arms annoyed.
"I prefer your full or is that too hard for you to say." Kari said almost mocking her.
"Okay. Yang Xiao-Long... Branwen." Yang introduced herself.
"Well Yang Xiao-Long Branwen. I will most certainly not forget your face when the time comes." Kari replied before she walked off in a huff.
"Geez did she wake up on the wrong side of the bed or what?" Yang said.
"Beats me but shouldn't she not be out and about. Her outfit means she's from the academy." Neo signed.
"Yeah you got a point. Isn't that kinda against the rules right." Yang added as Neo nodded answering her.
"Though why'd you say your full name to her. Was that wise?" Neo signed to her.
"Nah not really besides I am technically a Branwen because of my mom so I don't mind." Yang replied.
"That makes sense." Neo signed back but she had a conflicting look on her face like she was thinking about something.
"You ready to head back?" Yang asked. Neo nodded quickly as they both began walking back toward the academy.
Meanwhile Ruby was stealthfully looking around hoping that none of the academy girls will notice her as she sneaked around. As Ruby looked around she noticed five of the academy girls were walking to a different section of the school which made her wonder where they were going as she followed them but made sure not to get too close.
The five girls turned a corner while Ruby got to the wall and slide down it before looking over the corner as she saw them come to a dead end. But then one of the girls grabbed the light that was above her and pulled down on it as suddenly the wall opened up which surprised Ruby as the five girls walked in and then it closed behind them.
"A secret room." Ruby said as she walked over to it as she felt the wall in front of her.
She tapped on the wall hearing that it was completely solid. She noticed a light on a perch that is on her right was oddly placed. She noticed small scuff marks on the wall behind the light which means she just found the switch for it. Ruby grabbed the perch and pulled down on it and much to her luck the wall opened up for her.
"Alright let's see what your hiding." Ruby thought to herself as she headed inside. Just like she predicted the wall closed on her but their was another light with a perch on the side incase she needed to get out.
The inside was dimly lit but just enough to see in front of her. Ruby decided to pull up her hood and wrap her cloak around herself just so she's not seen. She heard shouts and grunting up ahead and the sounds of metal clashing with metal. Ruby walked forward before approaching what looks like a railing as it looked over a small arena.
The arena below had two of the five girls fighting it out with weapons that weren't conventional. The one of the left was carrying a chain like weapon with a dagger attached to the end while the girl on the right was using the same thing and they both have taken damage as their were rips in their clothing along with small cuts.
"What in the world is this place? Some underground training yard." Ruby thought as she watched intensily being careful not to be seen.
The girls continued to exchange blows neither one giving an inch to the other like they were purposely trying to kill each other. However the one on the left dodged the others attack and thrown the chain dagger right at the girls neck as the chain wrapped around her neck tightly.
The other struggled to get the chain off as she was starting to lose oxygen. Then the girl pulled on the chain dragging the girl toward her as she then kneed her in the stomach causing her to fall to her knees. She took the dagger still attached to the chain and held it to an exposed part of her neck like she was going in for the kill.
"That's enough!" Beatrix ordered and immediately the fighting ceased as the girl unwrapped the chain from the girls neck as the other hacked and cough getting oxygen back into her body.
"Nala well done in adapting to your opponent." She complimented as the girl gave her stern nod.
"Bethany you need to be more precise when you go in for the kill. Aim for their weakpoints and do not give them anytime to recover." Beatrix scorned as the other only nodded rubbing her neck.
"These skills you will use to completely eliminate your target and to infiltrate other organizations. Use your training wisely and prepare for any given situation and never give your enemy what they want no matter the cost." Beatrix stated.
"Yes ma'am!" The five girls shouted.
"Now to get down to business. I have recieved word from my employer and she has a new target for us that's been on her bounty list for quite sometime. A one by the name Raven Branwen." Beatrix said as she showed the five a picture of her. Ruby however was completely shocked by this and for more than one reason cause who would want to hunt and kill her aunt.
"I must strictly warn you. She is an experianced huntress and will not go down so easily like the others before her. Her weapon carries many dust cartridges that changes her sword to whatever dust she needs. Also her semblance allows her to create portals to thoses she has a connection with. The bounty on her is one hundred thousand lien. In the case of this particular woman I'm allowing full use of all lethal tools to eliminate her." Beatrix stated.
"How does she know what aunt Ravens weapon do and her semblance? Must be whoever is pulling the strings. Guess I better get out of here and warn her." Ruby thought as she did just that as she pulled the perch down and like last time the wall opened up as she sped quickly to find Raven.
=RWBY=
Meanwhile with Raven she was flying around in her bird form trying to see if their was anything that she missed during her first patrol of the academy while also trying to act like a normal bird. However she saw an open window in the very top of the tower and figured that it would be the best bet to check it out.
She flew inside the window as she landed on the floor before turning back to her human form.
"Okay let's see what we've got here." Raven replied and immediately noticed how ridicuously clean the office is as she figured it was Beatrix's office. Everything was where it was suppose to be which already was suspicious enough about the woman being neat and tidy.
Raven went behind the desk to see if their was something that she could find as she check the drawers and looking through them until she found a tan file that was rather thick so she figured she would check it out.
She opened the file and she found inside that it had profiles on all the female students in the academy. As she was going through them she noticed that one of the profiles had a red star on the profile. It was a girl by the name of Kari Winchester which made her wonder if she had a brother named Cardin but that was for another time.
She looked over the file and found around five other profiles that had a red star on their picture and each of them are from wealthy families but what was the connection between them other than being from wealthy families so she went over the ones that had the red stars.
Then she found out that each of them had a particular skill set that none of the other students had. So to save time she brought out her scroll and took a picuture of the six students profiles. After taking a picture she carefully put them back inside the file and put it away. However in the middle of that the door knob to the office started to turn which meant someone was about to come in.
She had to act fast so that she wasn't spotted as she put away the profiles into the file and then back into the drawer where it was. The door was opening and quickly Raven turned back into her bird form and flew out the window just as another student had entered the room to get what the headmistress asked for.
This Kari Winchester as she noticed something on the floor which was a black raven feather. She picked it up and examined it and figured that a raven must've gotten in through the window and dropped it's feather as she walked out of the room.
Meanwhile above a black raven stood as it seemed to sigh before flying off to find the others.
Luckily it didn't take Raven too long to find Ruby as she spotted her looking around more than likely for her. Raven flew down in her bird form and landed right on Ruby's right shoulder which did surprise her a moment.
"Auntie! Would you not do that!" Ruby said nearly shouting at the raven.
Raven jumped off her shoulder before turning back into her human form.
"So did you find anything?" Raven asked.
Ruby nodded "Yeah but I think Yang and Neo would want to know too. I'll contact them and have them meet us outside the academy." Ruby said and immediately got her scroll and sent a message to Yang.
Not a minute later Yang replied saying that they would meet up outside the academy as the two headed that way to meet them.
Once they got outside the gates of the academy they say Yang and Neo waiting for them.
"So what's going on? You two find something?" Yang asked as Neo was just as curious.
"Yeah but let's go somewhere away from any prying eyes." Raven suggested as they headed into the woods nearby that gave them plenty of privacy.
"Again you two find anything?" Yang asked again.
"Yeah. I was doing some diving in her office and found a file containing all the profiles on all the girls here at the academy but all only six of them had a red star next to their picture." Raven began bringing out her scroll and showing them the pictures of the profiles though one picture stuck out for Yang and Neo.
"Hey that's that Kari girl we met earlier. Wonder if Cardins related to her?" Yang questioned.
"On another note I think Ruby found something else as well while she was searching around." Raven said.
"Yeah and it kinda shocked me too. Apparently theirs an underground training area and five of those girls were down their with the headmistress but what's worse is something that I didn't see coming." Ruby said before turning to Raven.
"Raven did you have any enemies when you were younger?" Ruby asked.
"You're going to have to be specific cause I'm sure I've made a few enemies out their." Rave suggested.
"Like enough to have someone put a bounty on you?" Ruby asked which surprised Yang and Neo.
Raven sorted through her memories and their was one that did come to mind.
"Actually their is one. It was when you to were around eight and six years old and I was doing a mission for Ozpin that lead me to a place called The Wind Path. That place is basically a home for any murderer and criminal out their so that authorities couldn't get to. Apparently rumors were going around about a faunus trafficking ring and that the head went Lil' Miss Malachite. So when I arrived I bust down her operation before she could know what hit her and helped those faunus escape." Raven replied.
"Well apparently Beatrix somehow knows all about the dust you use in your sword and your semblance too. She also said that the bounty was like one hundred thousand lien." Ruby added.
"Only that much... huh I thought it would've been higher than that by now." Raven said almost nonchaluant.
"Mom! This is serious that those she's training are more than likely going to try and kill you." Yang added.
"I know but their's one thing they don't know about. My own ability. That will give us an element of surprise. Though I think I have an idea of what's really going on in this academy." Raven deduced.
"Okay... what is it?" Yang asked as the three of them listened.
"These girls here at the academy aren't only being educated for proper equite and such but I now have reason to believe that a select few are being trained as assassins when they graduate the academy." Raven said.
"So the school isn't just educating the girls but their making some of them criminals as well. That's kinda brillant actually." Neo signed.
"That would be the case. Which means when those select few graduate they'll more likely take on mission that mostly require eliminating a certain target. Mostly a political target or someone higher up the ladder." Raven replied.
"Well... is their anything we can do?" Yang asked.
Raven tried to think of something that they could possibly do but with how things are right now they're very limited in what they could possibly do.
"Even if we get the local authorities involved I don't think they can do much without anything solid. It's probably going to be up to us." Raven said.
"Well then I guess we'll need a plan in order to deal with all of them huh." Yang stated.
"Yeah so we better prepare just incase they try anything that we don't see coming." Ruby stated with everyone in agreement and decided instead of returning to the dorm room to instead camp outside till the next morning.
Meanwhile in town a woman had arrived but not by a ferry but by a small airship as she departed from the small craft. She is a woman in her early forties with brown eyes and short brown hair. Her outfit consists of a long pink dress with pearls around her neck. Though on her dress is a pin of the academies symbol.
This is Carmel Vanille and she was contacted by a certain person to come to the academy saying she had a surprise for her when she came as she walked down the path toward the acadmey.
F3: And that ends chapter 8. Looks like the group are about to recieve an unwanted visitor along with the group knowing what real purpose is for the school. Let me know in the comments of how this story is going. Also don't forget to follow and/or favorite this story. With that said this is Fireuser3 and I'm out.
