Hey, this is updating late because decided not to work all weekend. Anyways, this story will be going on a brief hiatus. I'm gonna be focusing my energy on getting Diamond in the Rough finished before I move forward with this story. Thanks for understanding.
With everyone assembled on Namek, Bulma proceeded to tell everyone all that had happened on Earth. How Gero had sent an android to attack West City, and their belief that it wasn't an isolated incident. Kami filled in the blanks, regarding the warning they received months ago, saying that if Gero wasn't stopped, it could spell the end of the Earth as they knew it.
As they explained the situation, Vegeta was getting angrier by the second. Bulma could tell just by looking at him. He tapped his fingers on his arm, he was glaring at the wall, and his posture was stiff. Whether he was angry at Gero for his actions, himself for being unaware of it, or her for keeping it from him, she didn't know.
He hadn't said a word about her since she came in. All he had done was just looked at her in shock and surprise. After that, they had started talking about everything, so there just wasn't any time to discuss it. Eventually, they'd have to and she could only wonder what his reaction would be. They'd never talked about children and what that would mean for them. Did he even want to be a father? The timing couldn't have been worse, but that was the situation they were dealing with.
Moori was shocked, hearing all that they were telling him. "Goodness. You weren't fibbing when you said it was dire."
"Indeed," said Kami. "These androids may be stronger than any other foe we've faced before. The warriors on Earth have been preparing since we learned of it, but I fear that even with all of their strength, it might not be enough to defeat them."
"And this is why we need to get the alliance back as soon as possible," Bulma continued. "If Gero and his androids attack, then even just one or two Saiyans might be enough to hold them off. I had hoped that you all would be willing to help."
Moori thought for a moment. "What were you thinking would be the most efficient way to do so? We could act as a middleman, but that might make things too complicated. Especially if you're passing along sensitive information."
"You won't need to." Everyone looked at Vegeta, waiting for him to continue. "We are working on restoring an old communicator that the Tuffles created. If we can get it operational, we should be able to talk to the Earth directly."
Bulma snapped her fingers. "Because those were on their own networks and don't have the security blocks! That's a great idea! How soon do you think you can get it working?"
"I don't know. Nappa told me that they might have a breakthrough, but we can't know for certain."
"Well, once you do," Moori interjected, "then we can pass it along to the Earth."
Vegeta gave him a hardened look. "I already told you once - I won't have you risking your people's safety for our sake. It was enough of a risk that we discussed it at all - if someone intercepted the message and found out you aided us in breaking the council's orders, the consequences would be severe."
"Then we won't communicate it that way," Nail said. "Kami, you and the Grand Elder can already speak to each other, without anyone else listening in. I'd say that'd be secure, enough."
Kami nodded. "And then I would pass it along to you, Bulma. It's not as seamless as I had hoped for, but it should work."
Bulma grinned. The past weeks of trial and error had left her feeling dejected and hopeless. It seemed like they'd never be able to talk to the Saiyans again. Now, she could see a light at the end of the tunnel. And it happened so quickly, too. It was as if everything was finally coming together, and victory was possible now more than ever. "So… what's gonna happen, after that?"
"In order for the alliance to be reformed," Vegeta explained, "we'll have to convince the council of two things. One - that the 'anti-Saiyan sentiment' is false or exaggerated, and two - that Gero is enough of a threat to the Earth that being allied would be beneficial for the both of us."
She thought. "I don't think we'll have much trouble explaining away the latter. And for proving the sentiment's false, I'm sure Raditz can talk about his experiences on Earth. It isn't a lot, but it'll help."
"Either way, we won't be able to do that until we can get the station working, again."
"And we'll keep looking for Gero, back on Earth. It's important that we find him before he can make more androids. Plus, if we stop him, we'll stop the murders, too."
"Then it seems that everything is settled," Kami said. "Moori, thank you for allowing us to convene in your home. It was very generous of you."
Moori held his hand up and shook his head. "Oh, you don't need to thank me. We're only helping out old friends. Now, unless you need to return to Earth soon, I was hoping to show you around Namek for a bit, Kami. Since I'm not sure if you'll be able to return in your lifetime. And I believe that the Grand Elder wishes to speak with you for a little bit. Isn't that right?" Nail nodded.
Kami's eyes widened and he raised a hand to his chest. "I'd be honored. Bulma, would you like to join us?"
She glanced up at Kami, before looking over at Vegeta. "No thanks. I think Vegeta and I have something we need to talk about."
"Suit yourself," Moori said with a shrug. And with that, the three Namekians left the hut.
Bulma and Vegeta stared at each other in silence This was the first time they'd been alone together in months. There was so much that needed to be said, but neither of them knew where to begin.
"How far along are you," he finally asked.
She clasped her hands together. "Five months. Maybe six."
His eyes widened. "Why didn't you tell me?! Did you think I wouldn't want to know?!"
"No, never! It's just that, with everything that's been going on, I-I didn't want you to give you another reason to worry. You already had so much on your plate, and I didn't want to burden you." She lowered her gaze to the floor. "I'm sorry for keeping it from you for this long."
He took her hands, making her look back up at him. "You could never burden me. I thought you would know that."
She bit her lip. "So… you aren't upset?"
"About you keeping this from me? I was, but I suppose you had your reasons."
"No, not that. About us," she paused and took a deep breath, "about us becoming parents." Her heart was racing, as she said it out loud.
His brows furrowed. "Why would I be?"
She shrugged, before she walked past him. "You know… this isn't really the best time. And we never really talked about it, before." She twisted one of her fingers around and pressed her lips together, before she turned back around to face him. "Is this something you want? It's a big change and I never wanted to force it onto you. But… I guess I kind of did."
She soon felt his arms wrapping around her, pulling her close to him. Her eyes widened. It had been so long since she had felt his touch. Even with all of his raw strength, he still held her so gently and warmly.
"Stop that," he said softly. "None of this is your fault. Perhaps it could have happened at a different time, but I am not upset over having a child. Especially since I'm having it with you."
She smiled, nearly crying on the spot. God, she had missed him so much. How was she able to bear being away from him for that long? She embraced him back, his arms tightening around her in response.
"Vegeta," she started. "There's something else you should know. About the androids."
He leaned back, still holding her. "Go on," he said, nodding.
"Gero, his goal… at least one of them: he wants me."
His eyes widened. "What?!"
"The android that attacked West City - he was trying to get me and take me back to Gero. And the person who warned everyone on Earth about the androids said so, too." She bit her lip. "My dad said that it's because Gero wants revenge against him for how he exposed him a long time ago."
He looked angry. His hands tightened on her, and his eyes burned with a tranquil fury in them that he always had, when he was at his maddest. "When you leave for Earth, I'm coming with you."
She sighed. "Vegeta, you can't. What will everyone say, when they found out you broke the council's orders?"'
"I don't give a damn about what they'd say: you're in danger, Bulma. And you're with our child. If you think I'm going to let the words of some backwards-thinking elites keep me from protecting my family, then you thought wrong."
"But your planet's in danger, too. Now that we know how dangerous Gero is, Planet Vegeta's in more trouble than ever. What if he tries something worse and more Saiyans end up dying? This isn't what I want either, but until these murders get solved, you need to stay on Planet Vegeta. The Saiyans need their prince."
He still looked angry, but she knew that he knew she was right. He closed his eyes and breathed out through his nose. "Just… promise me that you'll be safe."
She nodded. "I will."
He looked down at her stomach, before looking back up at her, again. "Do you know what it will be, yet," he asked.
"It's a boy. And I already know what I want to call him: Trunks."
He looked puzzled. "Trunks? Hardly an appropriate name for a Saiyan prince. But if it's what you want, I'll allow it."
She rolled her eyes. "I'm so glad I have your permission, your worshipfulness."
"At least we're in agreement on that," he said with a smirk.
She smacked his shoulder. "Jerk." As he kept smirking at her, she laughed. "Oh, I missed you so much, Vegeta!"
She wrapped her arms over his shoulders and kissed him on the lips. He quickly responded, tightening his arms around her waist. She felt so relieved. She had been so worried to tell him, yet they had talked it out in no time. It was things like this that made her realize how lucky she was to call Vegeta her own. They broke the kiss and looked into each other's eyes, still holding each other tightly.
He took her hand pulling it to his chest. "I swear to you, on my pride - I will protect you and our family."
She pressed her forehead against his. "I know you will, my Super Saiyan."
