Drift's P.O.V.
It's close to lunchtime, but Crosshairs and I decide to make pancakes and bacon. It's still hard to get the balance between getting Jamie to eat and giving her food that's not considered junk food. I gave her a plate, but only half of what she'd usually eat. Crosshairs and I joke she'll get all the bacon.
Lightning joins us with her lunch, smiling at Jamie eating. Though there's still a lot on her plate.
Optimus comes by as we clean up. He tells Lightning to take Jamie to the lounge room. Only I see how worried Jamie is, which is new. She'd be ok going with anyone else.
"It's nothing bad, Drift," I hear Optimus.
"I — Jamie is afraid about why you want to talk to us."
Crosshairs and Prime hate what I've said.
"I can't believe how bad her mental state is," Crosshairs sighs, "I hate not knowing how to help her."
"She thinks we're talking about how she can't be here. That's supposed to be the rule, but I can't. At least now we have places to take her to be safe rather than her dimension. No one likes not knowing how else to help her. Uncertain if she'll get any better."
I know several Autobots have talked to Optimus. Every Autobot here is worried about Jamie.
I hate hearing Crosshairs remind Knockout and Mirage that they still need to give Jamie space. Even if they're choosing to come with us.
"I'd like to spend time with her, but I'm worried about keeping her safe," Mirage tells us.
"I'm supposed to be on vacation, but I will not be relaxed if you are states away," Knockout adds.
"Is that why your temporary room is next to ours?" Crosshairs asks.
"Uh..."
This is funny, but also reminds me of how Jamie doesn't understand how much we care about her.
We're ready to leave by one in the afternoon.
Sideswipe last-minute asks if he can come. Hoping to get Jamie to do something.
"Lily is going to be mad, but he has a point," Sunstreaker argues.
"I know I could be like them, and not do anything with her," Sideswipe argues, pointing at Knockout and Mirage, "but I want to help."
"Let him come," Mirage argues, "he will not get her to do something easily, but I think he'll be successful after a few days."
They know I want to keep Jamie from crying the best I can, but they're also right. I can't argue that Sideswipe has a class to teach. He'll say he can use the groundbridge.
Crosshairs' P.O.V.
We don't enjoy telling our friends to stay away from Jamie, but we need to think about her mental state. Sideswipe knows Jamie has been playing a computer game, but she takes a nap by one in the afternoon. We've told Ratchet this, but he says to leave her alone. The challenge is when to decide this is a problem. Since Jamie would stay up all night and be up at eleven or noon. Unless we were under attack. I know looking to nap three hours after getting up is a problem, and hopefully will not last long.
Cade, Cogman, and Vivian know to leave Jamie alone. I put her on the couch, hoping she'll watch T.V. hating the sadness in her eyes. Should have known that Cade and Vivian would argue that Drift and I need to do something. That watching T.V. with Jamie isn't what they mean. I should have told them that Drift hasn't been able to meditate in weeks. He will not want to go into town.
"If I knew how much he was struggling, I would have suggested this weeks ago," Vivian comments
"Right, because waiting until Jamie tried to end her life makes sense," Cogman argues.
"Stop, this will not help either of them or Crosshairs," Cade argues, "and neither is acting like you're ok, Crosshairs."
I don't know if Cade knows what happened last night, but there's no point arguing.
Mirage's P.O.V.
I should have told them I'd be a guard sooner. They're way too stressed and are now in the habit of not leaving Jamie alone.
"So, do we convince them to do something for a while?" Knockout asks.
"I fear this is going to be a process. We can't blame them for not wanting to leave her alone. Not after what she tried. I have an office here," I point to a closed door, "I can watch her."
"It's the best we can do for now," Knockout sighs and goes into the kitchen.
I doubt he can help me with a case since he's a medic. Now if only I could easily check on Jamie's guardians.
I check on Jamie a half-hour later. She had fallen asleep. Crosshairs and Drift walk into the living room, seeing their charge asleep.
"I'm working in the office, I'll be around," I tell them.
Drift isn't sure and I know Crosshairs doesn't like making him leave, but Crosshairs has him leave the room after covering Jamie with his trench coat.
All these years and you still feel alone. I wish we could show you how much we love you. Everyone is worried about you, Jamie.
I return to my office.
Vivian's P.O.V.
"If there's not much they can do, then there's not much we can do," I sigh frustrated, "and she tried again already. This is scary."
I know I shouldn't be talking to Cade about my fear. He's already watched Jamie come close to death, having to revive her, but I wasn't thinking.
"I know, it's never easy to watch her struggle. To watch them struggle. Optimus struggles the most to watch Jamie when she's like this. There's not much we can do right now."
We find Jamie asleep, covered with Crosshairs' trench coat. Mirage must be in his office and checks on her, otherwise, Crosshairs and Drift wouldn't leave her here. I need to find Crosshairs and Drift.
Crosshairs and Drift are in their room, but it's obvious they're struggling to relax. Both panic seeing me.
"She's still asleep," I assure them, "I know, don't ask. I should have suggested you three come here sooner."
"I don't know if being here will help her," Drift says, "I don't think anything will help her."
Drift doesn't bother hiding his tears.
"I know it's hard knowing this is going to take months. Knowing how hurt she is."
Not knowing what else to say, I hug him.
I don't think assuring him that Jamie will do better is right. Crosshairs thinks he's hiding how he's feeling — and maybe that works most of the time — but I can tell he's trying not to let tears loose. He'll be crying in private soon. Wish I could help the three of them rather than watch them hurt.
