Chapter 3: The Entrance Exam
Name: Luna
Quirk: Bast – She can assume the abilities of any cat, from regular housecats and lions to hybrids such as ligers and tigons. Her quirk is named after Bast, the Egyptian goddess of cats.
Appearance: Though usually taking on appearances of the cats' abilities, her usual look has been compared as eerily similar to a character of the anime RWBY known as Blake, however she has a tail, and they are complete opposites in terms of personality and choice of dress. She's 14.

The day of the entrance exam for U.A. High arrived, and Luna could already tell that the crowds would make her miserable, super senses or not. She sat in the shade of a column, curiously looking at all the other applicants. Some were excited, some were worried, some were just cocky while others were just happy to be there. She saw friends joining in group hugs, laughing, and yelling about the upcoming exam. Luna scrolled through her phone, looking at Midoriya's text. Apparently, he was running a bit late. Luna smiled. Of course he would be.
"Excuse me, but could I also partake in the shade?" Luna looked up to see a male with the head of a falcon except it was all black, wrapped in a cloak with black combat boots.
"Of course. Not an issue." She scooted over, giving the boy space to sit. He nodded gratefully and sat down. She could already tell that this boy was quiet and reserved, not that it bothered Luna. Quite the opposite, really. She was just happy that no bubbly pink princess demanded to check if her tail and ears were real. Luna was tired of little children yanking on her tail while in a supermarket or just on the way to school.
"My name is Fumikage Tokoyami. A pleasure to meet you." He extended his arm, which Luna took and shook. His hand was firm, but gentle.
"The pleasure is all mine. Please, call me Luna." She responded, letting go of his hand.
"May I inquire about the fact that you didn't mention your family name?"
"It's unnecessarily complicated and convoluted is all. Just Luna is fine." Tokoyami nodded, satisfied with the answer. And, technically speaking, Luna wasn't lying. Her father's last name was Nadeau, but nobody really knew how to pronounce it, unless they themselves were Canadian. However, Luna didn't technically have a last name, but it would be awkward to explain to a person you just met that you have no last name because your father hates your guts.
They spent the rest of their time in silence, both grateful to find a person that wasn't trying to always speak with them. She absently wondered how he would taste like, but then shook her head to clear the thought. Part cat she may be, but sometimes the random thoughts and urges of her feline half were just plain weird.
Luna checked her phone, noticing that the exam would soon start. She contemplated about sending a text to Midoriya, but then realized it would probably just slow him down, so she turned off her phone and waited. The bell rang and the flocks of students entered. Nodding a goodbye, Tokoyami slipped into the crowd, entering. Luna, meanwhile, just waited. Just as she was about to enter, she saw Midoriya in a full sprint, gasping for air. Luna made her way over.
"So, Midoriya-kun. You made it. I was sure you'd be late."
"Don't be ridiculous!" panted Midoriya "I would never miss this even if the world was ending."
"Out of my way, extras!" burst Bakugo, nodding to Luna as he passed by, shoving a girl with brown hair and smaller stature, practically making her fall. Midoriya, always the gentleman, made his way over to see if she was alright. Seeing that she was, Midoriya and Luna went to enter, before Midoriya almost faceplanted. Luna, thankfully, caught his backpack before he could fall, and helped him to his feet, causing a few loiterers to snicker.
"Hey, isn't that the cat girl from the sludge incident?"
"Yeah, what's she doing with a loser like him?"
"I don't know, but we probably should stay out of her path. She seems like the type of person to knock us out without a second question."
Luna flicked her ears, already irritated and she hadn't even stepped into the building. She hoped that the culling would only leave good people. Well, and Bakugo too. Luna didn't think Bakugo exactly qualified as a good person.
Luna and Midoriya entered the orientation room, taking a seat in the middle of the crowd. Though Luna desperately wanted to escape to an isolated corner, she knew Midoriya wanted to see everything. Soon, the floodlights turned on, and the screen began to play a video of the U. A. High logo.
"For all you examinee listeners tuning in, welcome to my show! Everybody say 'Hey!'" Silence pervaded the room, and Luna absently put some noise cancelling earbuds into her ears. She already knew the man's type: obnoxiously loud, enough so that she very well could have her sensitive eardrums blown out. Despite the earbuds, Luna still managed to perfectly hear the man's instructions.
"What a refined response! Then I'll quickly present to you the rundown on the practical exam! ARE YOU READY?!" Luna winced, the man's voice still loud in her ears. Luna's tail began to flick while Midoriya offered her some gum, noticing that Luna already didn't like the man and his weird hairdo. She took it, nodding her thanks.
Midoriya, expectedly, began to fangirl when he realized who it was, blushing slightly and beginning to mutter him praises. Luna looked around the room, already bored, despite her tolerance for boredom.
"As it says in the application requirements, you listeners will be conducting ten-minute mock urban battles after this. You can bring whatever you want. After the presentation, you'll head to the specified battle center, okay?" proclaimed Present Mic, and Luna pricked her ears. Finally, some information. Everyone looked at their cards. Bakugo had Battle Center A, Midoriya had Battle Center B, and Luna had Battle Center C. So, splitting up friends, huh? Luna had to applaud the people behind this exam, they knew their stuff.
"Three different types of faux villains are stationed in each battle center. You earn points for them based on their difficulty. Your goal, dear listeners, is to use your Quirks to earn points my immobilizing the faux villains. Of course, attacking other examinees and any other unheroic actions are prohibited!"
"May I ask a question?" interrupted a student, and Luna looked to see a tall male with glasses. He didn't look special, but Luna knew that he probably had some sort of Quirk. Looking carefully, she saw what appeared to be engines embedded in the boy's legs, and she understood immediately. A floodlight illuminated the boy "On the printout, there are four types of villains. If that is a misprint, then U.A., the most prominent school in Japan, should be ashamed of that foolish mistake! We examinees are here in this place because we wish to be molded into exemplary heroes. In addition, you over there with the curly hair – You have been muttering this whole time. It's distracting! If you're here on a pleasure trip, then you should leave immediately!"
So, that's the type of boy he was. Impatient but observant. Luna was interested to see if he passed or not, but she also hoped he didn't, just so that she wouldn't have to listen to his voice. Observant or not, she was not tolerant of people who pick on Midoriya.
"Maybe you should have waited to see if Present Mic-sama answered your question before jumping to conclusions." Retorted Luna "You do realize that you're potentially wasting our time, right?" The boy blushed.
"Okay, okay, Examinee 7111. Thanks for the great message! And you, Examinee 1782," he pointed to Luna "thank you for standing up for me, but I didn't need it. The fourth type of villain is worth zero points. That guy's an obstacle, so to speak. There's one in every battle center. An obstacle that will go crazy in narrow spaces. It's not impossible to defeat, but there's no reason to defeat it, either. I recommend that you listeners try to avoid it."
"Thank you so much! Please excuse the interruption, Examinee 1782!" the boy bowed to Present Mic, then to Luna before sitting down. Bakugo merely scoffed, annoyed that he indeed wasted time with an elaborate speech.
Luna heard people begin to mutter to each other while the gears in Luna's head began to turn. This was a hero school; surely, they wouldn't be teaching to just avoid stronger villains if it would just hurt those weaker than it. There must be some ulterior purpose behind them. Perhaps some sort of incentive will appear in the Battle Center, then.
"Something's not right here. There's more to the zero-pointer than what was said." Luna remarked to herself.
"Did you say something, Luna-chan?" asked Midoriya. Luna merely shook her head, lost in thought.
"That's all for me! Finally, I'll give you listeners a present – our school motto! The hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said: 'A true hero is one that overcomes life's misfortunes.' Go beyond! Plus Ultra!" the loud sound effects made Luna wince. Even with the noise cancelling earbuds, the sounds were still entirely too loud for Luna's tastes. "Now, everyone, good luck suffering!" And with that, the main lights turned on and everyone began to make their way to their respective area. She wished both Bakugo and Midoriya luck, then headed to her designated battle center. She recognized Tokoyami, who also saw her and nodded. She nodded back to him and gave a quick glance at the competitors there. No one really stood out to her, but that was to be expected. The people with good Quirks and brains would know not to stick out too much.
Luna began to absently think about the faux villains. Hopefully they were all made of the same cheap metal, but that was wishful thinking. They were probably made of some sort of steel or titanium alloy. Though Luna had become strong enough to dent metal in her lioness or tigress form, she didn't know how that would compare to the robots. Luna just assumed it would be easier to go for joints between the armored pieces instead of just attacking the metal plates.
Suddenly, she heard Present Mic's voice echo "Okay, start!"
Luna took off in her cheetah form with a few prepared students while most stayed behind, confused. She quickly took a left and began to follow an alleyway, hoping that nobody would try to steal her points. Her ears perked when she heard sounds coming from around the bend and quickly swapped from cheetah form to tigress form. She didn't know how much force was required to decapitate/disable these robots, so better safe than sorry. Had she been proficient with hybrids, she would have gone to the extreme and gone to liger form, but she had trouble just maintaining that form for a few minutes, not to mention trying to do so during the chaos of the battlefield.
She rounded the corner and saw a one-pointer and two-pointer. They both locked onto Luna and sped toward her, the one-pointer coming faster. Lune leaped with anticipation in her eyes and cleanly swiped through the one-pointer's head, throwing it at the two-pointer to confuse it. Indeed, it was confused for a moment because suddenly his lock on his target became obscured as the one-pointer's head bounced off its own, blocking its vision. One moment was all that was needed, as Luna merely snapped the long neck of the two-pointer in a shower of sparks, causing both machines to crash behind her.
That's three points already, and I was right; it seems easier to go for the joints than the actual body. As for the three-pointer robot, that remains to be seen.
Thankfully for Luna, she heard something larger up ahead and decided her speed here was key. She transformed into her cheetah legs and sprinted at the robot. It was much bulkier and slower than the other two robots, with two heads instead of one. Now came the tricky part. While maintaining focus on her cheetah legs, she transformed her paws into that of a tigress and then changed her legs to that of a caracal, leaping over the three-pointer and landing on its back. She hammered a few blows onto one head, breaking it before the robot could react, then jumped off when the robot tried to slam its back into the alleyway wall. Thankfully, the three-pointer struggled with close quarters in the alleyway, allowing Luna's superior speed take care of the job for her. When the robot slammed its back into the wall, Luna leaped again, this time landing on its chest bashing through the final head before the robot heaved and collapsed, deactivated.
Six points. Three-pointers aren't so bad, but it remains to be seen how bad it is in the open or in tandem with the other two robots.
And on Luna went through the alleyways, clearing them of robots while trying to listen to what happened on the outside. She could hear the roar of battle elsewhere, with the sounds eventually catching up to her. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Luna hadn't decided yet, the zero-pointer robot was yet to be seen or heard. Lune surmised that it would probably be in the main street of the mock city, not in an alleyway, so Luna could avoid it altogether, but Luna wasn't stupid. She knew that points for defeating the robots were likely not the only way their submissions would be considered, and Luna wasn't thinking about the written exam, either. She had yet to figure it out, which both intrigued and frustrated Luna, to the point where a one-pointer actually landed a hit. Thankfully they were weak, but Luna clicked her tongue in annoyance. At this rate, she'd be taken out before she even saw the damn thing. No good. She looked the hit over, happy with the fact that it would merely bruise, but nothing worse would happen.
"Six minutes remain! If you're lagging, I suggest you get a move on!" Present Mic's voice was heard just as Luna brute forced another three-pointer and a two-pointer, growing tired of keeping two separate forms of cat on at the same time.
47 points. I think getting to 60 at least should be good.
Unfortunately for Luna, she had already reached the other side of the mock urban environment, forcing her to scour hard for some isolated pockets of robots. Thankfully for Luna, she managed to find a group of three-pointers.
Now, how do I deal with this? Luna looked around, surmising a sneak attack was her best bet, so she climbed onto an adjacent building and dropped onto one of them, slamming both tiger paws onto both heads of one of the robots, successfully incapacitating it in one go. Now, she was left with two three-pointers. She sprinted around them in cheetah form, landing isolated blows on the back of their heads as they reeled, trying to keep up with her speed. She managed to jump onto one of them, slamming into the robot and forcing it to crash into the other, and while they both were distracted, she managed to destroy another of the two robots, leaving her with one three-pointer left and fifty-three points. She decided for a frontal assault on it, but for whatever reason, this robot was smarter than its compatriots. It repeatedly slammed the ground, intentionally making it hard for Luna to keep running circles around it while simultaneously giving it plenty of ammunition to keep chucking at Luna while firing rockets at the same time. The constant barrage proved effective, as Luna was forced on the defensive looking for an opening. She finally got one, but before she could destroy the robot, it backhanded her, sending her flying into a dumpster while she heard and audible crack! from her ribcage. Luna winced, feeling her ribs, and deducted that at least one rib was broken. She sure hoped the medical team was good, because Luna was not looking forward to going to the hospital after this. She managed to blindsight the robot by hiding behind the dumpster she hit and climbing onto its back, hammering away at its heads before it too collapsed. Luna took a quick breather to plan her next move as well as recuperate.
There was likely only about three or so minutes left of the mock battle, suggesting that Luna still had time to make her goal of sixty points, considering she was now at fifty-six. However, she would likely need to take to the streets to do so, the adjacent alleyways already cleared out by her, and risk her meeting the zero-pointer on her own. Thankfully, she seemed to hear it on a rampage a bit farther away than she anticipated, so that problem was temporarily taken care of. She carefully peeked in the street, seeing two two-pointers just sitting there.
That's convenient. Luna thought as she sprinted at one of them, destroying one before the other had a chance to react. When it saw it, it ran at her, and Luna was surprisingly unsettled by the two-pointers, as they reminded her of scorpions, and she hated scorpions. Thankfully, the extra passion of destruction aided her take the last one out before she stopped and once again considered her options. Her rib was actually starting to hamper her, and Luna was tired. She decided that she had enough points and took off towards the zero-pointer, where she found Tokoyami trying to lift a slab of concrete off a fellow competitor with a strange shadow monster that slightly resembled his head with huge claws and decided to help. She changed into her tigress stance, forcing her legs and hands to become tiger paws, and wordlessly helped lift the slab. When the kid crawled out, she and Tokoyami dropped the slab, panting. Then, the zero-pointer found them. With surprising speed it swung its massive fist at them, making Luna yelp and change into her cheetah stance while tackling Tokoyami out of the way.
The zero-pointer was massive, easily as tall as the surviving buildings around it. Add to the fact that it was fast and powerful, and Luna had little idea on how to destroy it. Bakugo would likely just go guns blazing on the thing, but that wasn't an option for Luna. Midoriya would probably try to observe and look for a weak spot. Wait! That's it!
"Any idea on how to take it down?" asked Tokoyami as they ran rings around it, the zero-pointer furiously trying to predict their movements and squash them like bugs.
"The thing should probably have at least one place where it's power is regulated from a panel or something. If we find that and smash it, it should fall like everything else. The trouble is finding it."
"Can you scour the top parts? Dark Shadow and I will look on the lower side." Luna assumed Dark Shadow was the name of his Quirk, which was kind of a no-brainer. She nodded and turned fully into a black leopard.
That's kind of random. Luna thought as she leaped and climber her way up. Usually my transformation resulted in regular-colored ones. I guess my transformations are sort of like a roulette spin. Fortunately, Luna found what she was looking for: a panel with a big warning sign on it.
"Tokoyami-kun! Look for a panel with a big yellow warning sign!" Luna advised.
"Got it!" he affirmed, and Luna transformed into full jaguar, going ham at the panel, causing the zero-pointer to begin to stutter and shudder. She realized that her jaguar was also black. Maybe she should buy a lottery ticket or something.
Not many people appreciated the difference between the leopard and jaguar, but Luna knew better. While many thought that jaguars were just the leopards of South America, the case could not have been further from the truth. Jaguars are much stockier and powerful than leopards, so much so that they could not only hunt crocodiles on land, but in the water as well. Their teeth are longer and more easily able to pierce the tough armor of caimans and crocodiles alike, making them a scourge to anything except the anteater, and even then, if a jaguar was smart enough, the poor anteater couldn't do a thing. In fact, these cats are such a terror in their own right that some call them the modern day smilodons, even if they aren't closely related. Leopards, however, had the advantage in agility and speed. They are smaller than jaguars, but they are faster and have a much easier time climbing trees and performing ambushes by dropping from them onto unsuspecting antelope, zebras, and even some juvenile water buffaloes and giraffes, usually able to finish the kill before the parents or herd could do anything. However, because of its smaller stature, it often has its meals stolen by lions and hyenas if they're not fast enough to take it into a high tree, or if they're not fast enough on the kill, they are chased after by the entire herd.
Luna finished tearing through most of the panel, suffering from progressively stronger shocks until she came across the last wire. Of course it's the last wire drily thought Luna. She knew that as soon as she touched it, she would get seriously shocked and likely be incapacitated.
"Tokoyami-kun! I leave the rest to you!" before the bird boy even had time to question her, she tore through the last wire, getting shocked by about 2.3 million volts of electricity. Thanks to Luna, the zero-pointer was now much slower and weaker. Unfortunately for Luna, getting shocked by that much caused her to revert to normal form and drop like a stone, a sickening crunch heard from where she fell. Tokoyami's eyes widened when he realized what happened, but he needed to destroy the thing before tending to her. He finally found a panel that Luna spoke of on the leg of the robot.
"Dark Shadow!" yelled Tokoyami.
"Aye aye!" gleefully cried Dark Shadow and tore through the wires like paper, causing the robot to issue one last groan before collapsing. Tokoyami hurried over to Luna, who was still convulsing and seizing from the shock she sustained.
"Luna-chan are you awake?" asked Tokoyami, looking her over.
"I tHInk sO. I reALy wished I wasN'T thOUgh." Said Luna, her vocal cords seizing from the shock.
"I don't know whether to praise you or curse at you." Stated Tokoyami and heard the girl begin to wheeze, realizing that she was trying to laugh. "I'm going to pick you up now, and no, I will do it despite what you say. Dark Shadow."
"Eh, eh, she's surprisingly light. No problem at all." Said Dark Shadow.
"Am I THat preDictabLe?" she said, still convulsing.
"No. I just know you're the type to ignore your injuries so that those close to you aren't worried." And then Present Mic spoke.
"Times up!"
Luna absently wondered how Bakugo and Midoriya did. She knew that Bakugo likely performed exceptionally, but Luna worried over the performance of Midoriya. She heard some massive explosions from his mock battle area and hoped that he was all right. She didn't see how he could have passed, but she hoped for him before, and she would do it again. For Midoriya. Suddenly, she heard an old woman's voice. I'm losing it aren't I?
"Good work, good work! Here, have some gummies." She looked and saw her passing out some gummy bears before turning to her.
"Oh, dear. You really hurt yourself, didn't you dear? Very well. Kiss!" the woman's lips extended and kissed Luna on the cheek, and she felt her cracked bones and shocked body begin to heal themselves. Ah. She wasn't losing it. That's good, then. When she was all good, she motioned for Dark Shadow to let her go, and he did.
"Thank you so much, Recovery Girl." Luna bowed, but the woman waved it off.
"No problem. Just don't make it a habit, eh?" they both smiled as she walked off tending to the injuries of others.
"So, Luna-chan. How many points did you manage to obtain?" Tokoyami asked.
"Oh, about sixty I believe, if not counting the points we gained for beating the zero-pointer. How many did you get?" She mused.
"Fifty-two. You do remember that it isn't worth points, right?"
"Maybe not the regular points, but there must be a purpose behind having the thing. They were probably looking for those heroic enough to stop it, and probably there's some hidden category Present Mic never mentioned. Anyways, I have to go and see how my friends did. I hopefully will see you at U.A., Tokoyami-kun. You show much promise." They bowed to each other, and Luna left, looking for her friends. She found Bakugo first.
"Oi, Luna. How many points did you snag, eh?" he asked
"Sixty. How about you, Bakugo-chan?"
"Seventy-two. Not a bad score for you, Luna. Will you stop by my place later? The old hag said she's cooking something special and asked me to invite you. Should be around four or five." Luna gave him her signature small smile.
"I must ask for permission first, but I would be honored, Bakugo-chan." The boy blushed a little.
"You better not be late then! The hag'll just blame me."
"No worries." She waved goodbye and went onward, feeling the boy's gaze on her until she was swallowed into the crowd. As she searched for young Midoriya, she couldn't find the boy, and her unease began to grow, until she found him walking around in a daze.
"Midoriya-kun?" No response. He tripped and was about to faceplant, but Luna caught him again.
"Midoriya-kun, you really must stop tripping like this. You could break your nose or something when I'm not here."
"Luna-chan!" Midoriya exclaimed before enveloping the girl in a hug and began to sob. Luna flattened her ears and stiffened, not knowing what caused his tears and not knowing what to do. Physical contact was another thing that Luna wasn't comfortable with, but she was willing to make an exception right now. The poor boy needed some reassurance. She awkwardly wrapped her arms around him, letting him sob into her shoulder. At least there wasn't any snot. Finally, she extricated herself from his grasp and held him at arm's length, her limit reached for the month.
"What's wrong, Midoriya-kun?" Luna finally asked.
"I didn't manage to get any points! Al – I mean Toshinori-sensei's efforts and your confidence was wasted on me!" Luna was afraid of this. The robots would be difficult to deal with for him since he had no quirk. She wondered what he originally wanted to say before he stopped himself, but she decided it didn't matter.
"You didn't destroy a single robot?"
"I did, but it was the zero-pointer! I must have hit a weak point or something!" Luna frowned. Midoriya, with only his natural body strength, managed to destroy it? Luna didn't doubt it had some sort of weak point besides the panels she and Tokoyami attacked, but how had Midoriya even found it? She decided not to question him any further.
"Did you manage to save anyone, Midoriya-kun?"
"Yeah, the kind, brown haired girl from the morning."
"Then I think you still have a chance, Midoriya-kun. Think about it; the robot must have some purpose other than being an obstacle. U. A. wouldn't just teach its heroes to let villains more powerful than you wreak havoc, right? There must be some hidden category as well that Present Mic didn't mention. Cheer up. I think you made it." At this point, Midoriya burst into tears of happiness and tried to hug her again, but this time she refused.
"Woah, boy. I reached my monthly limit of hugs, okay? I recommend hugging your mother, Midoriya-kun. Gods above only know that she doesn't get enough from you." He thanked her and ran off.
"That was very kind of you, Luna." A familiar voice said, frightening the poor girl and sending her seven feet into the air before she landed and whipped her head around to see who it was. It was Toshinori Yagi. She gave a small bow.
"Toshinori-sama, you startled me."
"My apologies. But seriously, stop bowing to me. It's kind of unsettling." She did as requested.
"It was simply the logical thing to do, Toshinori-sama. Besides, I'm uncomfortable when people start showing their negative emotions like that." He chuckled. "Did you enjoy your meal that I prepared for you, Toshinori-sama?"
"It was delicious. I thank you for that. However, I recommend running along. I'm sure the Bakugo family is waiting."
"How did you …? Never mind. Have a pleasant day, Toshinori-sama."
"You too, Luna." She sped off to her home, settling into a comfortable 45 miles per hour jog home. When she arrived, she found her father sitting at the kitchen table, eating the meal she prepared early in the morning.
"So, our star pupil arrived. How did it go?"
"I believe it went well, sir." He grunted.
"Sir?" He hummed in response.
"The Bakugo household invited me to lunch, and I was wondering if it was possible for me to attend." Her father made a strange face that Luna had no idea as to what it meant. Wait. Was he jealous?
"Of course, I understand if you refuse. I could spend the time …" Luna hesitated "with you." Suddenly, her father's face melted into one of pure anger.
"Why the FUCK" Luna flinched at the man's sudden venom in his voice "would I want to spend time with YOU? I don't give a shit as to what you do, just get home before 9." And with that, he left the kitchen, leaving his meal half-eaten.
So, Luna left her house as quickly as possible. She arrived at the Bakugo residence within 2 minutes, taking a second to catch her breath. She knocked on the door, which was surprisingly opened immediately, and by Mitsuki Bakugo, of all people.
"Ah, Luna! Come in, come in! We're just about to start! I want to hear all about it!" And the evening went off without a hitch, with the Bakugo family and Luna celebrating for the rest of the day until she had to leave at 8:50 for her curfew. She jogged home and her father didn't even acknowledge her, watching the television instead. She looked at him sadly for a moment, then slowly headed upstairs to her room.
1 week later:
Luna had gone to check the mail. Mostly they were offers from high schools to attend and bills for her father, but this time, she received a letter from U. A., and Luna's heart rate rose. She knew she probably passed, but still. It was always possible that something went wrong. She went into the living room, handing her fathers the bills.
"Sir? I received an answer from U.A." He looked at her.
"Give me the letter." Luna was worried that he's just tear it to pieces, but she did as ordered. Inside was a letter, as well as some weird circle thing, which suddenly snapped on. Luna's father dropped it, startled, and a hologram appeared.
"I am here … as a hologram!" All Might proclaimed "Oh, hello Liam."
"All Might!" sneered her father "What a pleasant surprise. Not."
"Liam, now's not the time for this." All Might turned to Luna "Luna, my dear girl; it should come as no surprise that you essentially aced the test! Not only did you pass the written exam with flying colors, you obtained the third-highest quantity of points from those faux villains! And, as you probably guessed, there was another aspect concerning the zero-point faux villain. Now, observe!"
All Might showed them the video of Tokoyami and Luna attacking the behemoth, destroying it but thankfully not showing Luna's fall. He also showed how Luna and Tokoyami helped free the boy from the rubble.
"There was a second category for the practical exam: Rescue Points! Not only did you save another examinee from the danger of the zero-point faux villain, but you also corralled it into an isolated zone and took it down! For that, you were awarded 49 Rescue Points, giving you the first place in the overall exam! Congratulations!" Luna looked at the hologram with pure dopamine flowing through her blood. Here was the first person to praise her after her mother's disappearance, and it was none other than All Might, the number one pro hero.
"And Liam." Turned All Might "I heard some unsettling rumors from a few of my contacts which I hope for your sake are untrue."
"Don't you dare, All Might!" bellowed her father "Don't you fucking dare involve yourself in our family! I lost HER because of you, and I won't tolerate your interference!" Luna wondered what their history was, but decided if she asked, she would be backhanded into the next week, so she kept quiet.
"Liam, you cannot know how sorry I am for what happened. However! That does not give you the moral justification or high ground to do what you have done!" her father flinched at the anger in All Might's words "If I hear any more of these rumors, I will have to act. I don't want to take young Luna away from you, but I will if I must! Do you understand!" Her father nodded dumbly.
"Now, I take my leave, young Luna, and congratulations once more! I hope to see you soon! Until then, goodbye!" The hologram turned off, and Luna saw her father shaking in anger, fists clenched, and nostrils flared.
"Girl. Your room. Now." The apparent calmness in her father's words frightened Luna more than she would ever be comfortable to admit, but she booked it, softly closing the door, locking it, and opening the window for an escape route. She didn't want to know what her father would do, and she was too scared to find out. Thankfully, he never did anything to her, probably because of All Might's threats. Luna made a note to ask what happened between her father and All Might later on, when she would attend U. A. High. Her phone buzzed, and she saw that Midoriya made it because of the rescue points, and Bakugo was raging that he didn't get first on the exam. She didn't know if she would tell him, slightly smirking as she thought of the rage that Bakugo would be in, interrogating every first-year student until he was left with Luna.
Hello everyone! I remember this chapter being very fun to write, not only to show how Luna dealt with the challenge, but also because of the apparent history of her father and All Might. The chapter came out to be almost 6 thousand words, which is a bit more than usual, which is nice. Anyways, stay safe out there! – Bananaman out!
