Chapter 6: The Indoor Battles
Name: Luna
Quirk: Bast – She can assume the abilities of any cat, from regular housecats and lions to hybrids such as ligers and tigons. Her quirk is named after Bast, the Egyptian goddess of cats.
Appearance: Though usually taking on appearances of the cats' abilities, her usual look has been compared as eerily similar to a character of the anime RWBY known as Blake, however she has a tail, and they are complete opposites in terms of personality and choice of dress. She's 14.

"The first teams to fight will be … Teams A and D!" Luna sweat dropped. Team A was Midoriya and Uraraka, while Team D was Bakugo and Iida. The fact that Midoriya and Bakugo had to fight was going to make this very, very messy. She really hoped that Bakugo didn't hurt the boy too badly. "Team A will be the heroes, and Team D will be the villains. Everyone else, head down to the monitor room."
Luna headed down to the monitor room with Ojiro, not knowing what to think. She wanted both Midoriya and Bakugo to win, but she knew that was impossible. So, Luna did the only thing she knew would help; she pushed her emotions aside and got to work.
"Ojiro-san?"
"Yes, Luna-san?"
"I believe this goes without saying, however, we should focus not only on the battle, but the actual building itself. If we become the villains, we won't have to spend so much time on the places we know, and if we are the heroes, we'll know all the good places for the nuke."
"Yea, that sounds like a plan. Do you have any ideas for our battle?"
"It really depends on who we're going to go against and what role we get. Why, did you already have one?"
"Oh, haha, no. Just wondering." Luna nodded and focused on the monitor. It seemed like Iida and Bakugo were having a conversation, but there was no audio. However, she didn't need audio to see that Bakugo was fuming, with his shoulders shaking and his fists clenched. This was looking very bad already.
Luna decided to focus on the "nuclear weapon". Though she couldn't tell how heavy it was, Lun sincerely doubted that it would be too heavy, as the villains likely should be able to move it if they wanted. After all, there was no rule against it. The "nuke" was basically a black rocket with several red stripes. It had several white lines on it too, however she saw that the position didn't change as the camera moved, leading Luna to believe it was either glued or painted on. That's good.
Luna saw that Midoriya and Uraraka were much more relaxed than Bakugo was, with both of them talking. She saw them both smiling, which was a good sign for them.
"Now, let's start the indoor person-to-person combat training with Team A and Team D!" All Might said into the microphone, then addressed the class. "Okay, everyone, you should think as well."
Ojiro nudged her, and Luna allowed herself a quick smile before focusing on the different monitors. She saw Midoriya and Uraraka enter through one of the building's side windows, and it seemed like they were sticking together. They were cautious, checking corners carefully before going through them. Good. Luna felt her stress levels begin to rise as the match began.
Suddenly, Bakugo leaped from around a corner, letting off a wicked explosion that would have hit both Midoriya and Uraraka had Midoriya's reflexes not taken them both to the side. She saw half of Midoriya's mask blown off, while Uraraka seemed unharmed. Around Luna, her classmates began to speak.
"A surprise attack from the start?"
"Bakugo, that's cheating! A surprise attack isn't many at all." Luna snorted. Is this guy for real?
"A surprise attack is a strategy, too. They're in the middle of a real battle right now."
"Midoriya avoided it."
"There goes Bakugo!" And indeed, Bakugo rushed the heroes. However, Midoriya acted first, grabbing one of Bakugo's outstretched arms and flipping him over his shoulder, slamming him into the ground. Bakugo slowly stood up, not doing anything. Uh oh. This battle went from bad to okay to REALLY bad within a couple moments.
"What was Bakugo saying? Can't tell with no sound." Kirishima pondered.
"He's talking to his partner over the small wireless radio. You can bring that plus the building's plan and this capture tape." All Might pulled it out so everyone could see, which appeared to look like regular tape. "Once you wrap this around your opponent, it shows that you've captured them."
"The time limit is 15 minutes, and the heroes don't know where the nuclear weapon is, right?" Ashido asked.
"Yes!"
"The heroes are clearly at a disadvantage here!"
"Heroes should be able to turn the tables on whatever predicament they are in. Besides, didn't Aizawa-san tell you that too? You know – Here we go – PLUS ULTRA!" Luna grimaced, clutching her ears as the class yelled the motto together. Shoji didn't look too pleased either.
"Monsieur, Bakugo is –" Luna turned to the screen to see Bakugo attacking Midoriya, while Uraraka fled. Smart. Bakugo tried delivering a roundhouse kick to Midoriya's head, who blocked it. Luna saw Midoriya try to capture Bakugo's leg with the capture tape, then dodged when Bakugo tried to set off an explosion in Midoriya's face. Lune didn't know how Midoriya was doing it, but it almost looked like he knew exactly what would happen.
"That guy's amazing!"
"He's not even using his Quirk!"
Suddenly, Midoriya turned and fled, to the apparent anger of Bakugo, who pursued him. Because of the tight corridors, Bakugo couldn't just let his hands fly backwards and propel himself forward. Instead, he had to resort to running after Midoriya. Suddenly, Bakugo lost him and began to shout. To the average passerby, it looked like Bakugo was merely raging, but there was a reason that he did this. Bakugo was trying to provoke Midoriya, to try to find his location. Luna hummed with recognition, flicking her eyes to Midoriya, who almost seemed to hesitate. Meanwhile, Uraraka was still running about, trying to find the nuclear weapon.
Eventually, Midoriya stopped, dropping to his knees, and carefully listening, trying to see if Bakugo found him. Another camera saw Bakugo blasting door after door, searching for Midoriya. If Midoriya managed to meet up with Uraraka, they could try to go after the nuke together, while Bakugo remained, angrily searching for Midoriya.
Luna's mind began to wonder as no real action began to take place. She wasn't necessarily thinking about the battle. Both boys seemed lost in their thoughts as they walked; one was angry, the other determined. Luna frowned as she thought back to Bakugo's words yesterday.
"See what happens when you trust him, Luna? He backstabs you. How many years did you defend him? How many years did he hide his Quirk? Face it Luna; you were being used."
If that was what Bakugo was thinking, Luna couldn't imagine what it must be like for him. While Luna only knew Midoriya for four years, she still felt some resentment to Midoriya. Surely, she should have noticed a sign over the years that Midoriya had a Quirk? But she didn't. Midoriya wasn't the type of person to just lie for years on end for a payoff at the end. So, he must have somehow obtained it. But, how? Luna didn't doubt that there was a Quirk that gave other people Quirks, but Luna didn't know anyone like that. Suddenly, she looked at All Might, who too seemed lost in his thoughts. Her mind began to make connections to three figures: Midoriya, Toshinori, and All Might. She remembered her conversation with Toshinori when he came to her house. Something tied the three together, but Luna began to get frustrated when she couldn't realize what. It was on the tip of her tongue, but she still couldn't figure it out.
Luna instead shook her head, focusing on the monitor. Uraraka had found the nuclear weapon and Iida, while concealing herself around the corner. Iida hadn't noticed her, which would greatly benefit Uraraka. Until she laughed at something Iida said, at which point he found her. Really?
Uraraka let Midoriya know where the nuke was, which happened to be directly above him. She glanced at the timer, which read six minutes. More than half of the time was gone.
I don't know what you want to do, Midoriya-kun, but you better do it fast.
Suddenly, Bakugo found him. He raised one of his gauntlets and Luna's eyes widened when she realized what he would do.
"All Might-sensei! You have to stop the fight!" A voice interrupted the silence, only for Luna to realize that it was hers "Bakugo could kill him!" All Might hesitated, looking between the screen and Luna. The entire class began to murmur amongst themselves, growing worried at Luna's words.
"I-I don't…" Luna had enough. Bakugo was reaching for the pin, and she sprinted to the microphone.
"BAKUGO, IF YOU OPEN FIRE ON HIM I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!" But Bakugo was beyond caring. He looked at the camera, grinned maniacally, and let it loose. The entire screen went white as the gauntlet let loose its power; it was so powerful that Luna heard it and dropped the microphone in shock. Luna's mind went blank, desperately hoping that Bakugo missed. But it was practically impossible to miss; the corridor was tight, not allowing for much movement, and even if Midoriya managed to drop himself into the area that was affected least by the explosion, he would still be seriously hurt.
What stung even more was the fact that Bakugo intentionally ignored her. He looked directly into the camera, right at Luna, and did it anyway. Luna thought her friendship meant more to Bakugo, but apparently not. The fact that he would lose Luna as a friend wasn't more important than his ego and pride, which hurt Luna a lot more than either Bakugo or Luna realized. She merely backed away from the screen. The camera was broken, not allowing anyone to see the aftermath.
Suddenly, Uraraka ran at the weapon, with Iida trying to intercept her. She activated her Quirk, jumping high over Iida, who stood shocked for a moment. Iida zoomed at the nuke, grabbing it and ran away from Uraraka, who floundered and rolled several times before stopping.
Suddenly, another camera activated, showing Midoriya, who was still miraculously alive, and Bakugo, who was grinning the same Chesire cat grin at Midoriya.
"Sensei, you should stop them! That Bakugo's really crazy! He's gonna kill him!" Kirishima stepped forward. Luna hoped it was enough, but her heart dropped when All Might replied.
"No …" No? No?! NO?! Was All Might right in the head?!
"Young Bakugo, the next time you use that, I'll stop the fight and your team will lose. To attack on such a large scale inside is inviting destruction of the stronghold you should be protecting. That is a foolish plan for both heroes and villains! You will lose a lot of points for it!" Luna was enraged. All Might was thinking of the stupid BUILDING instead of MIDORIYA'S LIFE? She didn't even want to be in the same room as the man, but she forced herself to stay. She needed to see Midoriya come out of this alive.
Bakugo blitzed toward Midoriya, setting off explosions behind him and propelling him forwards at an incredible speed. The anger on his face was more than a little jarring, and it frightened Luna. It frightened Luna at how easily Bakugo disregarded the life of a peer, at how willing he was to destroy it. Instead of attacking head on, however, he flipped over Midoriya, shooting an explosion at his back, which connected and sent Midoriya flying.
"What was that just now?"
Finally, Todoroki spoke "He doesn't look like the type to think, but he's more subtle than I expected." The others turned to face him for an explanation, for which he obliged "He changed his course in a blast that doubled as a smoke screen and then did it again immediately." Next, Yaoyorozu spoke.
"Getting a clean hit while fighting against inertia requires fine lateral adjustments to the power of the explosions."
Bakugo dashed at the reeling Midoriya, hitting him hard at the place where the explosion hit Midoriya, sending him stumbling forward. Before Midoriya could get too far away, he grabbed his right arm, letting off an explosion with his left hand to give himself more momentum before slamming Midoriya into the floor, much like Midoriya did when Bakugo first found him.
"This is lynching! He can capture him for the exercise by just wrapping the tape around him!"
"Those are not the actions of a hero."
"I thought Midoriya was pretty amazing, too, but in terms of combat power, Bakugo is definitely a ball of natural instincts."
"Stop the fight." Luna said, but All Might didn't turn away from the screen "I don't know if you think Midoriya-kun needs to tough it out or be more macho or something just as stupid, but this is going beyond the scope of an exercise. You let this keep going, and you're going to have a dead student in your hands. Your hands, which, by the end of the day, will be drenched in Midoriya-kun's blood." Some of the students made supportive noises, but All Might ignored them. She narrowed her eyes, not believing that the number one hero, the Symbol of Peace, was nothing but a savage enjoyer of unnecessary conflict. She couldn't believe Midoriya looked up to the figure that was willing to let him die for the sake of "proving himself"!
Midoriya crawl-ran away from Bakugo, turning to face him once he reached a wall. Bakugo calmly walked at Midoriya, clearly relishing in the other's pain. They exchanged some words before rushing each other. Luna was almost ready to shove aside her teacher and stop the exercise, but she restrained herself for the moment. As she looked at Midoriya, she saw his face full of anger and determination, something she had not seen before.
Midoriya activated his Quirk in his right arm, letting it go at the ceiling. The resulting explosion burst through the stories above him, causing the ceiling to erupt at the intense pressure. Luna felt it from where she stood, the ground rumbling in protest. Uraraka took advantage of the chaos, making a pillar weightless and shooting the shrapnel at Iida, who had to raise his arms to defend his face. Meanwhile, Uraraka leaped, landing on the "nuke", and grasping it with both her legs and arms, a look of intense relief evident.
When she saw the state Midoriya was in, Luna froze. His right arm was destroyed, while the left side of his body was black from the explosion Bakugo hit him with. Everyone stared at the screen, in different stages of shock. Luna, meanwhile, began to tremble. Had Bakugo not been distracted, had he not shifted his gaze and weakened his concentration, he would have blown off Midoriya's left arm and left a massive, gaping wound on his left side. Luna forced herself to make no sound, her tail practically invisible as it thrashed, her ears were invisible in her hair.
"Hero team wins!"
Luna burst from the monitor room, sprinting to find Midoriya, teacher and classroom be damned. She sprinted to the building, leaping up the stairs and running into the room to find Midoriya on the ground, collapsed. She quickly checked his pulse, sighing slightly when she found it. It was weak, certainly, but it was there. She picked the boy up carefully, cradling him protectively and made her way downstairs, not paying attention to Bakugo in the slightest. He probably wouldn't have noticed either, still standing with jaw dropped and eyes wide.
When Luna made her way outside, she found a pair of robots waiting to carry away Midoriya to Recovery Girl's office with All Might standing there, the class presumably still in the monitor room. Luna carefully lowered the unconscious boy into the stretcher and watched as he was carted away. When he was out of sight, Luna turned her gaze to the Symbol of Peace. The look she gave him was enough to make him shiver and she lunged at him, grabbing him by the collar. Luna wasn't exactly tall, standing at 5'5", but she dragged All Might down to her level.
"You let that happen again and you'll find yourself without a head." Luna growled as she let him go, stomping back to the room with her class. All Might, along with Bakugo, Iida, and Uraraka entered shortly after her, flinching slightly at her murderous look.
"Well, even if I say that, the MVP for this battle was Young Iida!" All Might proclaimed.
"It's not either of the winners, Ochaca-chan or Midoriya-san?" asked Asui.
"Hmm, well … Why is that? Does anyone know?!"
"Yes, All Might-sensei!" answered Yaoyorozu "That is because Iida adapted the most to the context of the training. From watching the match, it appears Bakugo acted on his own because of an obviously personal grudge. And as All Might-sensei said, it is foolish to launch a large-scale attack indoors. In the same way, taking into consideration the damage he received, Midoriya-san's plan was also rash. As for Uraraka, she let her guard down mid-battle. Iida-kun prepared for his opponent's arrival and assumed it would be a fight over the weapon, which made him late to respond in the final attack. The hero team only won because they took advantage of the fact that this was training. They were practically breaking the rules."
Luna raised her hand, and All Might nodded to her "There's also the fact that Iida was the only person not to risk triggering the nuclear weapon. Had it been a real battle, Bakugo-san and Midoriya-kun could have easily set it off, decimating a large portion of the city, leading to the death of thousands, injury of countless others, and the personal deaths of both the heroes and villains. Uraraka-chan, despite not being as destructive as Bakugo-san and Midoriya-kun, still launched an attack at the weapon, which also could have been activated had it been rigged similarly to the first two Japan experienced in the second World War." The entire class shuddered at the thought "Iida-kun, however, merely picked it up and moved it. Perhaps a bit too hastily, but he didn't risk it exploding like the others did. Like Yaoyorozu-san said, the heroes only won because they knew it wasn't a real nuclear weapon. Iida-kun was the only one to treat it as such."
The class merely stood quietly, while Luna nodded to Yaoyorozu, who nodded back. They both felt appreciation for the other's intelligence. Luna gave a small smile; they would get along swimmingly.
"W-Well, young Iida also has parts of him that could be more relaxed, but, well, that was correct! Alright, lets change location and start the second match. Tackle this training after thinking about what we just talked about!"
He drew the balls for the second match, and Luna saw that it was her and Ojiro against Todoroki and Shoji. Luna bit her lip apprehensively; this would not be easy, regardless of the outcome. Ojiro and Luna were the villains, so they were given the building's plans and earpieces that they could communicate from a distance.
"So, any ideas?" asked Ojiro.
"Perhaps, but I would like your input on them." The boy nodded "Well, I noticed that Shoji-san was quite large, and I thought we could capitalize on that. I have also done a bit of research about Todoroki-san, and it appears he prefers to fight from a distance. So, I was thinking of putting the nuke in this room." She gestured. It was one of the smaller rooms, with only one door leading up to it. Truthfully, it was more of a large closet than an actual room, only about two meters by three meters.
"You searched him up?" asked Ojiro, and, for some reason, a faint blush dusted Luna's cheeks.
"It was for research purposes. Anyways, what are your thoughts on the other plans?" Ojiro thought for a moment, then answered "I like the idea; you want them as uncomfortable as possible, forcing Todoroki-san to fight close while make it hard for Shoji-san to fight. I like it. What about actual combat?"
"What are your thoughts, Ojiro-san?"
"Well, I'm sorry if it looks like I'm throwing you under the bus, but I think I can deal with Shoji-san. He focuses a lot on his limbs, but is I knock him off balance, I should be fine." Ojiro rubbed the back of his neck.
"No, I understand. Actually, you're much better suited to fighting Shoji-san than I. I believe I have a decent plan for Todoroki-san. For whatever reason, he refuses to use his right side, so, if I target him there, I should be able to beat him. However, I'm asking you to come aid me when you beat Shoji-san. I don't exactly like my chances to beat him." Ojiro nodded.
"Sure."
"Communication is also important, Ojiro-san. I need you to keep me informed, should anything happen outside of the plan."
"Definitely. I'll try my best."
Luna gave him a small smile "That's all I can ask for."
Suddenly, All Might spoke "All right, let the match begin!"
Luna nodded, and Ojiro left the room, jogging to one of the lower floors. They were currently on the sixth of eight floors. She activated her helmet's improved senses, and suddenly she heard a crackling noise. Luna's eyes widened when she realized what it was.
"Ojiro-san!"
"Luna-san, I'm stuck! He froze the building!" At this point, the frost had reached Luna, and had she only had normal reflexes, she would have been frozen. However, Luna had the reflexes of a cat, and leaped over the trail of ice, seeing it go to the stories above.
"Can you get out, Ojiro-san?"
"It'll take a while, but sure. I'm near a window right now; it appears that Shoji-san is just waiting outside. It looks like he's just going to wait there." Luna hummed.
"Okay, keep me posted on Shoji-san, but when you break free, get back to the rooms. I underestimated him." With that, she let go of her earpiece and changed legs into that of a snow-leopards, while simultaneously willing warm fur to cover her body. She wouldn't lose to the cold, that was for sure. Since it was just Todoroki, Luna left the bomb and decided to patrol in a relatively tight radius, not wanting him to just slip by her.
Her helmet's ear twitched and turned, searching for sounds while Luna decided to try out the heartbeat mode of her helmet. When she turned it on, everything turned into a grey outline. She knew that it would only detect Todoroki when he was within ten meters, and even less so with walls. However, she still wanted it on; it was possible that Todoroki could be quiet enough for her senses to not work.
Within two minutes, she finally heard footsteps coming from one of three stairways leading up. She turned off her heartbeat mode and willed her limbs to take the form of s leopard's, climbing to be on a wall above the stairway's entrance, tail twitching in anticipation. Then, the door opened, and she ceased all movement, eyes becoming slits. The boy paused, looking left and right before choosing to go left. His costume was actually different now; the left side of the suit and his body very frozen, while the right side of the suit was white. It was then that Luna leaped at him, transforming her legs to that of a snow leopard while changing her arms to that of a tigress.
Todoroki's eyes widened before he skated backward, avoiding Luna's leap. He began shooting ice from his foot at her, trying to trap her. Unfortunately for him, not only did Luna manage to keep good traction and grip on the ice, but she was also fast. She shortened the distance between them, swiping and lunging at Todoroki, trying not to give him breathing room. He kept skating backwards, and, to the relief of Luna, he was heading away from the mock nuke. This cat and mouse game continued for several minutes. Luna allowed herself a glance at her watch, which read just less than ten minutes.
Suddenly, Todoroki switched strategies, instead going on the offensive and shooting ice crystals at her. Luna balked at the sudden aggression, just managing to avoid becoming a frozen pincushion. Much to the chagrin of Luna, he wasn't giving her an opening, forcing her to be on the defensive. She began to try to lead Todoroki away from the bomb, but he noticed, and instead sped off towards it. Luna took a shortcut, tackling the boy in an intersection when he tried to speed forward.
She tried to punch and swipe the boy into submission, straddling him with her legs, but he kept dodging, trying to fling her off. He suddenly paused, causing Luna to yelp and awkwardly turn her left paw as to avoid turning him into ground meat. He leaned slightly forward, causing Luna to pause.
"You're in quite the compromising position right now." Luna paused, confused, but blanched when she realized how she was sitting on him. Her focus was lost, and her hands and feet reverted back to normal. He threw her off and froze her hands and feet before standing up, brushing himself off.
"You're good, I'll give you that. You can move if you want, but the skin on your hands will come off, so you won't be able to fight your best." He began to walk away, but Luna just smiled.
"You know, you're not so bad yourself." He paused, with a question in his eyes "It is, however, more than a little insulting that you think so little of me." Before he had time to react, Luna transformed into a common black housecat, leaped out, and reverted back to her form of snow leopard legs and tiger paws, leaping at him. He cursed silently and their game continued. Every time that he managed to catch one of her appendages, she transformed her paws into something smaller, same with her legs.
Suddenly, Ojiro spoke "Luna-san, I'm free. I'm on my way." She glanced at her watch: 3 minutes.
"Okay. Please hurry, I don't know if I can hold out much longer." Despite what Luna wanted to think, she was tired. She wasn't used to holding the forms of two different cats for so long, and the constant transformations were taking a toll on the girl. The acrobatics certainly didn't help, and not even a minute later, Luna's arms were caught, and her legs were caught shortly after. When she tried to shrink, however, Todoroki shrunk the ice prison along with her. They both were panting, one a small, black cat while the other was human. They stayed like that for a while catching their breath. Finally, Todoroki slowly walked away, with Luna struggling to free herself. She felt her fur tearing, but nothing came of it.
However, before Todoroki could make it too far, Ojiro leaped around the corner, smacking Todoroki in the face, and sending him flying. Disoriented, he tried shooting ice at Ojiro, who merely flipped over his attack, knocked his legs out from underneath him, and captured his hands with the capture tape. Todoroki communicated the fact that he was stuck to Shoji, but by the time the other boy made it up, the timer ran out, signifying the villains won this one. Todoroki freed Luna, who in turn took of his capture tape. He was still slightly out of it, so she let him lean on her slightly, guiding him back to the monitor room.
"Well done, Ojiro-san. Your timing was impeccable. Should you not have arrived so soon, we would have lost." Complimented Luna.
"Naw, that was all you. Had you not delayed Todoroki-san, we would have lost. I just smacked him in the face. Speaking of, are you OK, Todoroki-san? Sorry about that." Said Ojiro sheepishly, but the boy waved him off.
"It's alright, just feel tired. Sorry, Shoji-san. I let my overconfidence get the best of me, and we lost."
"It's my fault as well. I should have communicated my ideas more. The fault is shared." Stated Shoji.
When they got back, a couple of the students snickered, much to the confusion of the four.
"Wow Luna, you sure do work fast." Stated Mina, waggling her eyebrows. Luna frowned, her eyes asking Todoroki if he knew what the girl was on about, but he merely shook his head in confusion. The two boys behind her were also clearly confused, although it was hard to tell with Shoji.
"What do you mean, Mina-san?" asked Luna.
"You were practically grinding his –" Jiro smacked Kaminari with one of her earjacks, which led to him wincing.
"Don't pick on Luna-san. It was an accident." Jiro said.
"Tactically speaking, it was a good idea to try to pin Todoroki-san while she attacked, even if it looked slightly suggestive." Yaoyorozu explained, slightly red in the face. Luna made a silent 'O' with her mouth, shooting a quick glance at Todoroki. He looked relatively unbothered, so Luna decided to adopt the same calm air of indifference as he did. Despite her attempts, a faint pink could be seen on the girl's face. Luna merely shrugged her shoulders.
"Well, that was certainly an entertaining round! Alright students, who was the MVP this round?" All Might asked the students. Unsurprisingly, Yaoyorozu answered.
"The answer isn't difficult, All Might-sensei. That title should belong to Luna-chan; not only did she craft a plan to take down both Todoroki-san and Shoji-san, but she also delayed Todoroki-san for about ten minutes, giving her ally time to free himself from the ice and apprehend Todoroki-san. As for Shoji-san, well, I hate to admit it, but his presence wasn't felt in the battle. He stayed outside until Todoroki called for aid, which he should have done from the beginning, and was ultimately too late to do anything"
Luna tried to protest "But Ojiro-kun and I came up with the plan together, so I can't take full credit. He even managed to catch Todoroki-kun."
This time, All Might shook his head "That may be the case, young Luna, but you were the reason young Todoroki wasn't able to get to the bomb. Even if young Ojiro never appeared, he appeared very fatigued, and it would have taken him a while to get to the bomb. I don't know if you noticed, but you forced your battle to the opposite side of where the nuclear weapon was. Even if young Todoroki knew where the bomb was, he might have not made it. No, you were the MVP of the battle."
Luna tried to protest again, but she felt Todoroki's hand on her shoulder "You deserve it. Stop struggling against the fact that you were the best in that battle." Luna colored slightly at his praised but nodded.
"Thank you."
"Now, onto the third battle!" All Might exclaimed.
The third found Sero and Kirishima as the villains. Sero made the nuke's room an obstacle course with his tape, making it practically impossible to pass both of them and touch the nuclear weapon. However, they were against Tokoyami and Asui as heroes, probably the two best equipped students for this task. While Asui could perform incredible feats of acrobatics, Tokoyami could have Dark Shadow rip the paper to shreds without tangling himself. Tokoyami and Asui won, though Luna expected that.
The fourth match found Kaminari and Jiro as the heroes against Yaoyorozu and Mineta, the villains. Luna didn't know who would win this once, as Yaoyorozu was pretty smart, but Mineta was basically dead weight, staring at the girl's ass while she worked setting up barricades. However, when the time came, Mineta surprisingly pulled his weight, and the villains won that round.
The final round was between Aoyama, Ashido, and Hagakure as the heroes against Sato and Koda as the villains. As a handicap, Hagakure would only enter once one of the heroes was captured. This was another round where Luna didn't really know who would win. She had too little information on her peers, but Sato and Koda ended up losing, as Sato passed out after Aoyama was taken care of, and Koda barely held Ashido off, giving Hagakure an easy win.
The students, except for Midoriya, gathered around All-Might after all the battles ended.
"Good work, everyone! We didn't have any major issues other than young Midoriya, either!" Luna gave All Might a glare, to which he sweat dropped. "You guys took this on seriously! You all did a good job for your first training!"
Asui stepped forward "To have such a proper class after Aizawa-sensei's class … It's kind of anticlimactic." The rest of the class bobbed their heads in agreement.
"We're free to have proper classes, as well! Well then, I must review the results with young Midoriya! Change and return to the classroom!" All Might booked it to the nurse's office while the rest of the students made their way to the locker room. When Luna changed and took her helmet and instruction booklet, she was approached by Yaoyorozu and Jiro.
"Hello, Luna-chan." Yaoyorozu and Jiro greeted.
"Hello, Yaoyorozu-chan and Jiro-chan. How can I help you two?" Yaoyorozu blinked in surprise at her "Did I say something wrong, Yaoyorozu-chan?" The girl in question just shook her head.
"No, I'm just surprised you managed to say my name correctly on the first try. Most can't."
"Well, I did read up on you, so I hoped to say it right." Jiro gave her a confused look.
"You searched Yaomomo up?"
"Well, I tried to research my classmates, but I only found Yaoyorozu-chan and Todoroki-kun. Also, did you say Yaomomo?"
Yaoyorozu nodded "Yes, I let my friends call me that; it's simpler. You can too if you like. And you don't have to address me with -chan, Yaomomo is fine."
Luna hesitated "Ok … Yaomomo. What can I help you with?"
Yaomomo shuffled her feet, a little embarrassed. Jiro stepped in "Yaomomo wanted to invite a classmate over for her house. It's her way of making friends. We understand if you can't come, though. It's decently far from the school."
"I believe I can. I just need to obtain permission from a … guardian is all. Do you want to exchange numbers, Yaomomo and Jiro-chan? I can let you know what my status is after school." The two girls nodded, and they exchanged their numbers.
"Thank you for the invitation, but I want to go see how Midoriya-kun's doing." Luna exchanged farewells with the two girls and left for Recovery Girl's office. When she arrived, she knocked on the door. Luna heard a string of curses from behind the door, as well as what sounded like a scuffle.
"Uh, Recovery Girl-sama, is everything all right in there?"
She heard panicked speaking from a familiar voice, but the sharp retort from the old woman. She then heard a sigh, and Recovery Girl opened the door.
"Ah, Luna-chan. Please, come in. I assume you're here to see Midoriya-san?"
"Yes, I –" Luna paused, confused by what she saw. She saw Toshinori Yagi, standing near Midoriya's bed. However, he was wearing All Might's costume, the very same that her teacher was wearing not too long ago. The clothes didn't fit at all, as they were several sized too large. Luna was reminded of a small child who wore their parents clothing. Luna had done that when she was younger. When her mother was still with her, and her father remained unbroken.
"T-Toshinori-san?"
"Hello, Luna." An awkward pause settled in the room, and then it all clicked. Why All Might seemed so interested in Midoriya. Why Toshinori panicked when she asked about the history between her father and All Might, as well as when she asked if Toshinori was All Might's contact. How Toshinori snuck up on her on the day of the entrance exam. Why All Might was so invested in Midoriya.
"You … You're All Might?" asked Luna.
"Yes, I am." Toshinori affirmed, but hesitated. Luna decided to take pity on the man.
"I assume this is a secret, Toshinori-sama. A secret I was not supposed to be privy to and a secret I accidently stumbled upon. I shall keep it a secret, if you wish, Toshinori-sama."
Toshinori nodded emphatically, relieved "Thank you, Luna. You don't understand how much it means to me that you'll keep my secret."
"However." Toshinori gulped "This does not make up the fact that you refused to end Midoriya-kun's fight with Bakugo-san. I understand why you did it, but it was the wrong choice to make. In fact, it was the worst choice to make."
"I-I'll make it up to you, Luna."
Luna snorted "You have to make it up to Midoriya-kun, not to me."
Recovery Girl nodded "See, she gets it."
Luna's gaze softened as she looked at Midoriya.
"How is he, Recovery Girl-sama?"
"He's stable, though drained. He should wake up in a couple hours."
Luna breathed a sigh of relief "Well that's good. I suppose I'll take my leave, then. Goodbye, Toshinori-sama. Goodbye, Recovery Girl-sama." She bowed and left the room, closing the door behind her.
"Now, Toshinori-san. You really should get changed. I doubt you want every student to know who you are." Luna smiled and went to her homeroom where Aizawa was waiting for her.
"Ready? We'll go to your house to pick up your essentials, and then I'll introduce you to my apartment." Luna nodded and they left.
Another long chapter, yeah! Luna finds out about the secret identity of All Might, and now is going to live with Aizawa for a little while. The upcoming chapters will have some AU to it, so there's that. Also, a little friction between Luna and the Half-and-Half boy, eh? Seems like nothing right now, but it'll progress. When I was originally writing this, I was thinking of making it a Tokoyami x OC story but realized he probably wouldn't be looking for that. Not that Todoroki was either, but there's more potential to him, what with his backstory and family situation. Anyways, hope you enjoyed! Stay safe out there! – Bananaman out!
