Chapter Three

Peter jerked awake when his super senses picked up something, or rather someone, tickling the bottom of his foot. Moving his foot cautiously to avoid kicking his roommate, he glanced down at her. Really Aranha? Didn't think it was time to get up yet. Aranha merely tilted her head to the side, her large green eyes looking at him with pure innocence, her white tipped black tail twitching with amusement. Peter shook his head as he reached over to scratch her behind the ears. Leaping up to her paws, she twisted round, a purr rumbling deep in her chest as she padded over to the kitchen counter. Catching on to the fact that she wanted something to eat, Peter rolled himself off of the mattress and quickly scrambled to his feet. It only took half a minute to make a peanut butter sandwich that he then split between himself and the kitten that had followed him home after he saved it from a pack of dogs. Glancing out the window, he figured there was plenty of time for Spiderman to collect some money for groceries before he was expected at class...

Hawkeye let an arrow loose, muttering a few choice words under his breath when his target somehow managed to dodge it. The other Avengers were already corralling the rest of the idiotic Hydra goons that thought attacking S.H.E.I.L.D. while they were meeting with Fury was a good idea. Unfortunately, this particular goon either was enhanced or trained by a S.H.E.I.L.D. operative with his ability to escape from the others... and lead a frustrated Hawkeye on a wild goose chase. "Come on! Why can't you stay still for half a second!?" He paused in his chase, a frown crossing his features upon realizing that he could no longer see the goon...

"Hawkeye! Behind you!" Spiderman swooped down suddenly, his webbing shooting out of his wrists and onto the startled Hydra goon that was about to get the jump on the ex-agent.

Hawkeye lifted a hand up, pressing it against his chest, over his heart to be more specific. "Thanks for the save Spidey."

"No problem. Any other Hydra goons that need stopping, or just this one?" Spiderman didn't appear to be too concerned about his little team up with the famed archer.

"Nah. The others should have the rest of the goons dealt with by now." Hawkeye waved him off.

"In that case... I'm gonna go now." Spiderman leapt off of the building, quickly webbing away from the Avenger.

"Hawkeye!" T'Challa dropped down next to him, his voice hinting that he was annoyed at his teammate. "You just let Spiderman get away and we're supposed to catch him!"

"Oh! I forgot..." Hawkeye shifted, looking everywhere but at his regal friend.

"Okay... Anya, I can see where you are coming from... but shouldn't you be bringing your concerns up with the adults? Technically we're still kids." Gwen rubbed her forehead, even as she rolled her eyes skyward.

Anya paced in front of the bulletin board that she had brought to school with her, self-righteous fury dancing in her eyes. "True... but we need proof first! And what better way to find proof than trying to befriend the guy?"

"The fact that you're insane." Miles arched an eyebrow slowly upwards, not for the first time wondering why he allowed his friends to convince him that meeting up an hour before school was a good idea.

Grady and Harry both weren't even there at the moment. Something about their private drivers wouldn't be available until closer to time for school to start. Rich kids dilemma. Anya glared at him, only to brighten suddenly as something behind him caught her attention. "Peter! Just the guy we wanted to see!"

Miles turned around to see that the young mute was indeed standing behind him, staring intently at the board that Anya had thankfully covered up the second she realized someone was headed their way so there was no way the dude knew about her plan to befriend him to find out his secrets... not unless he has super senses which is just plain impossible. Peter slowly arched an eyebrow upwards, before moving past them into the school building with a slight limp. Upon noticing the small limp, and recalling how he appeared to be in pain the other day, Gwen and Miles suddenly realized that maybe Anya had a point. Who knows what was going on behind the scenes at the Parker home.

Peter stared straight ahead, refusing to let his embarrassment that Anya even felt like she needed to do something like this from burning his cheeks... and failing miserably if the fact his cheeks felt bright red from all the burning they were doing was anything to go by. No problem... just keep moving... at the moment they believed he didn't notice the highly detailed plan on how to include him more so as to make him 'more comfortable' around them. Plopping down in his desk, he wasn't surprised when they eventually joined him. Grady and Harry both were with them by now, and by the irritated looks they were giving Anya, he figured that they've been roped into her befriend Peter plan. Too bad that was just too dangerous. No one could get close to him without major consequences. At least when class starts Grady will have to go sit with his group.

"So... what's up? Any plans for after school today?" Anya attempted to start up a conversation between them.

Peter merely took a piece of paper and scribbled out an answer for her. Got to buy some groceries. Out of food for Aranha. Also need more supplies for a project of mine.

"Wait... who's Aranha?" Harry straightened up, confusion flitting across his features.

Peter hesitated briefly, before scribbling out the answer to that question. She's my cat.

"Why would you give your cat such an odd name?" Grady questioned him on his choice of name.

Anya lifted up an eyebrow, looking somewhat amused. "Aranha is Portuguese for spider."

Peter froze, panic slowly slipping in. He hadn't expected her to figure that out just yet! Before he could write another response to that statement though, the bell rang signaling the start of class even as Max announced that he wanted them to take their seats so he could take roll call. Relief flooded him over the fact that he didn't have to explain his obsession with spiders to his classmates.

A/N: Time for reviews!

foxchick1: Here you go... more of this story.

fire18: Sure does. Why didn't I think about that? Thank you!

fairy1: Thank you! I intend to... when I have time to work on it of course.

Hey guys, I wouldn't mind one bit if you send in which Avenger you think should forget to arrest Spiderman next! Basically all of them get to have a turn of forgetting to arrest him, but the order really doesn't matter so I wouldn't mind knowing who you would like to see next chapter needing a reminder.

Thank you!
