Year 8

The sun had fully risen, streaming through the large windows like shafts of liquid gold. Aragorn lay on his side, the light warming his back all the way down to his bones. He had kicked off the blankets in his sleep so only the sheet was tangled around his waist. His chest was bare and goosebumps covered his skin, but he wasn't cold. He smiled to himself, watching as Eowyn slept next to him. She lay on her stomach; her arms up, wrapped around her pillow. Her face turned to face him, her lips parted, her face looked like a child's in sleep. Aragorn fought the urge to run his fingers over the pink of her cheeks, wishing he could live in this sun-soaked moment forever.

Slowly, Eowyn's eyes fluttered, opening and blinking against the sun streaming onto her face. She groaned, tucking her face into the pillow, away from the light. Aragorn smiled, but stayed silent as if a word might break the spell of the morning and then life would have to begin. He reached a hand out and ran it over Eowyn's head, her hair wild around her head like a cloud of spun sugar. At his touch, Eowyn rolled her head towards him, smiling through dreamy eyes. Her eyes trailed over his body and his chiseled stomach. Laying on his side she could seed the ripples of muscle over his sides, his powerful chest bowed inward in a way no one else would see it, completely relaxed. Eowyn scooched herself closer so their hip bones touched. She traced her fingers up the lines of his middle to his chest, then over his shoulder coming to rest on his arm. She smiled up at him, where he rested his head on his hand and she tucked herself into his body. His skin felt like home.

"Good morning," she breathed into his chest.

Aragorn shifted, laying his head down to breathe in the smell of her. "Good morning, my queen." He smiled and touched his cheek to her forehead.

"Your queen?" Eowyn echoed mockingly, tilting her head up to look up at him, the corners of her mouth twitching.

Aragorn brushed a hair away from her face, the movement second nature. "I want you beside me today," he said "For the council meeting."

Eowyn chuckled and moaned, shaking her head. "Now I see where this flattery is coming from," she joked, tilting her head back and leaning her lips up to his.

Aragorn smiled, touching their lips. "It's not flattery to call you what you are," he said, running his hand up her bare arm. Eowyn rolled her eyes, kissing him again. "The queen," he said again, his voice deep. "My queen."

Eowyn laughed, taking his face in her hand and squeezing his cheeks to part his lips. "Your eminence," she said, moving his lips to her words, her voice as deep as she could make it. Aragorn took her wrist grinning and flipped her onto her back, sitting up to straddle her all in one fluid movement. His hands slid up her arms, pinning her down, her body sinking into their soft mattress under his weight Eowyn found herself lost in the silver reflect of his eyes as his fark hair slipped forward onto his face. "My king," she breathed without thinking.

Aragorn tipped his head back and laughed. "Now look who's talking of monarchy.:

Eowyn smiled, caught. She tipped her head to the side, lifting her face to kiss where blue veins shoed through his wrist and trailed up his arms, jutting from under his skin. Then she sank her teeth into the flesh at the base of his thumb. Aragorn swore, his elbow buckling as he tried to pull his arm away, but that only made him fall on top of her. Eowyn laughed and moved her teeth to his neck, peppering him with small nips.

Aragorn roared, trying to get away form her as her breath tickled his neck, but her arms had woven around him, holding him tight to her. "How are you so tiny, but so strong?" He yelled, trying to squeeze his head out from her grasp.

"Daddy!" a voice screamed through giggles.

Just as Aragorn turned, Awena launched herself up onto their bed and onto his back. Aragorn collapsed as the little girl and her mother giggled around him, one on top and one under him. Aragorn gave up and lay still, his head resting on Eowyn's chest. He couldn't help but smile as Eowyn's arms moved from around him to hold Awena as well.

"Good morning, Momma," Awena said, her voice as light and airy as the sunshine pooling around them. "Good morning, Papa."

Aragorn rolled to lay beside Eowyn, snaking his arms under her shoulder to pull her close to him. Awena slipped off his back with the movement and wedged herself just between her parents. "Eldarion!" Aragorn yelled and the boy appeared in the doorway, his shoulder length ringlets standing at every angle. He rubbed at his eyes glumly. Eowyn smiled sideways at Aragorn and he met her eyes with the same smile. Eldarion dragged himself to their bed and lay down next to his mother, pressing his back into her side before falling back asleep, immediately covering his eyes with a bent elbow.

"Wake up, Elly!" Awena said, sitting up and reaching for her brother's shoulder.

Eowyn intercepted her hand, lacing her fingers into her own. "Shh, let him sleep, Awena," Eowyn whispered, pressing her lips into the little girl's hand.

Awena sighed and flopped back down. "He's always sleeping. I want to play!" She exclaimed.

Eowyn looked down at the boy and thought of how much he had changed in the last months. His face losing any remainder of the softness it had as an infant. "

"The day will begin soon, Awena," Aragorn said, pulling her into his chest.

"Yes! And then we will have to go to our studies and then Elly will want to read or something else boring," Awena complained.

"Awena," Eowyn sighed. "You and your brother are very different. He plays with you all the time. You have to let him do what he wishes as well."

"Maybe I'll tie him up!" Awena exclaimed. "He can be the captive. I'll rescue him of course, but until I find where the evil wizard has locked him up, he won't be able to get away with his books!"

Aragorn chuckled and kissed the top of her head. "if you tie him up though, you'll know where you left him."

Awena was quiet for a second, trying to find some loophole in her father's logic. "I suppose he can hide himself then," she conceded.

Eowyn smiled at Aragorn. "Perhaps if he brings his books to the evil wizards lair everyone might be happy."

"Peace in the kingdom." Aragorn winked and leaned over Awena to kiss Eowyn's forehead.

Awena groaned, caught between her parents. "Why so much kissing?" She screamed as Aragorn's mouth met Eowyn's and they sat up together.

"Can you shush?" Eldarion said, sitting up, giving up on sleep.

"No!" Awena screamed again. "I am being suffocated by their love!"

Eldarion reached into the cage of his parent's tangled arms and pulled Awena free, rolling his eyes.

"Run along then, children," Aragorn said without taking his eyes from Eowyn's. "I plan on kissing your mother a while longer." Eowyn smiled and connected their lips again, trialing her fingers through his hair, brushing it back from his face.

"Ugh," Awena called after her as eldarion pulled her through the doorway leading back into their room, still grumpy from being woken up just for his father to tell him to leave again.

When Aragorn's lips left Eowyn's she was gasping for air, flat on her back on the bed, her hair splayed out around her.

"Where did our children acquire such a flare for the dramatics?" Aragorn asked, looking down into her face, touching her cheek in awe of her easy beauty.

Eowyn smiled innocently up at him. "I don't have the slightest idea," she answered. She lifted herself up onto her elbows and attacked his lips again, the morning sun shining down on them.

Aragorn let his eyes drift open, looking down at Eowyn underneath him. "Now I am complete," he said softly, drawing his fingers over her face and down her neck. Eowyn raised her eyebrows, questioning him. "On mornings like this," he said, looking around their room, his face breaking into a smile. "I feel complete, like everything is right and well. Waking up next to you with our children, nothing can touch us."

Eowyn smiled up at him, pulling him down to touch their lips. "Do not tempt fate," she breathed into his mouth.

Aragorn smiled against her lips. "Fate cannot find us here," he said. "Not when we're here together in the morning sun, your body next to mine."

Eowyn laughed and shook her head, pulling him down on top of her, holding him close enough to crush her.
