Life Is Not A Dream

Chapter Seven

The alarm clock went off letting the thirteen year old Rangiku know it was time to wake up. It was early, too early to wake up, but she knew she had to wake up to make Gin's breakfast and lunch before he had to leave for work. Besides, she can go back to sleep for a few more hours when Gin leaves for work. Rangiku opened her eyes and reached over and turned the alarm clock off. She got out of bed, in her red silk nightgown, Rangiku left her room heading downstairs and into Gin's room. She remained quiet as she left his room and went through the living room, down the hall and into the kitchen where she started pulling food out to start cooking. She first made Gin's lunch and then started breakfast.

When breakfast was done cooking, Rangiku was putting the food on the plate when Gin came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. Gin placed his free hand in her underwear, touching her in a way that'll get her wet. His other hand went under her nightgown to play with her breast.

"This looks good." Gin kissed her on the side of her neck. He removed his hand from her underwear and stuck his fingers in his mouth." Tasty as always." Gin stopped playing with her breast and grabbed his breakfast and sat down at the table.

Rangiku made herself a plate as well, though her portion was smaller. Rangiku slowly ate what was on her plate. The feeling of her stomach feeling queasy caused her to stop eating. She had been having that feeling for the past week and then usually throws up afterwards. She didn't know why. She didn't have a fever and she usually feels fine after throwing up until she feels like she needs to throw up again.

Rangiku got up and threw away the tiny bit that was left on her plate. Gin had finished his breakfast and was getting ready for work. Rangiku immediately got started on the dishes. As she was washing a plate, the queasy feeling in her stomach got too much for her. Turning the water off, Rangiku ran into the bathroom and started throwing up in the toilet.

Dressed for work, Gin made his way back into the kitchen to give Ran a goodbye kiss and get his lunch, but didn't see her there. He didn't see her head back up to her room. The only way was through his room. Just where could she have gone. Then he heard the sounds coming from the bathroom. He went into the bathroom to see Ran hunched over the toilet throwing up. He surprised her by placing a hand on her forehead. She didn't feel hot. That ruled out a fever.

Rangiku at first jumped when she felt someone touching her forehead, but then quickly realized it was Gin. "I'm fine." Rangiku said softly, after throwing up, she felt better. Like she had for the past week. "I'm going to finished the dishes." Rangiku said quietly and quickly went back to the kitchen.

Gin wrote Hitomi a note about Ran throwing up, didn't have a fever and then to check upon her when she can. He then left the note on the table folded up with her name on the top. "I'm leaving." Gin said kissing Ran on the neck and left to go to work.

Rangiku finished the dishes and headed back up to her room where she got under the covers and went right back to sleep. A few hours passed, but it felt like no time at all when Rangiku woke up. She sat up rubbing the sleeping from her eyes just as the door to her room opened. Hitomi came in holding a thermometer. Before Rangiku could ask, Hitomi put the thermometer in her mouth and placed a hand on her forehead.

Her head doesn't feel warm like Gin wrote in his note to her. As the thermometer beep, Hitomi took it out of Ran's mouth. No fever. Maybe something the girl ate. "I'll be home for another hour. Want to watch TV before I leave?" When Ran nodded, Hitomi took the thermometer and went downstairs.

Rangiku quickly went downstairs and into the living room. She sat down on the couch, turning on the TV and turned it to a show she liked. Watching TV was one of the things she liked to do around here. That and drawing. The chores, not so much. Rangiku laughed at a joke on the show when Hitomi sat next to her. In Hitomi's hand was a coffee cup. The moment Rangiku smelled the coffee, she felt queasy again and got off the couch and ran to the bathroom to throw up.

Hitomi was genuinely curious as to why Ran ran as soon as she sat down. She took a drink of her coffee. After a few minutes, Ran came back. Hitomi watched Ran carefully, just as Ran got close, she ran back in the direction she ran to in the first place. Curious, Hitomi got up and walked after Ran and by the time she got into the kitchen, she could hear the sound of someone throwing up in the bathroom. Hitomi walked to the bathroom. She set her coffee on the table and went into the bathroom. As soon as she felt Ran's forehead, she was still confused. She still didn't feel warm. Hitomi just shrugged her shoulders and went into the kitchen.

Hitomi sat at the table. While she ate her breakfast earlier, she had started a list of thing she needed to pick up at the store. She had stuff on there for meals for the next week. She just needed to add non food items. She knew they needed shampoo, body soap, dish soap and a few other things. She also added tampons onto her list. "Ran-Chan do you need tampons?" Hitomi asked. Now that she thinks about it, she couldn't remembered the last time she bought Ran tampons.

"No." Rangiku said coming out of the bathroom. She stayed far away enough for the smell of coffee to not affect her too much. "I still have an unopened package and couple from the package before that."

"Go back to watching your show." Hitomi said and watched the girl leave for the living room. Hitomi looked at the list she was making and added one more item to the list berating herself for not noticing.

"Shirou-Chan" Momo called out to Toushirou as she was running to catch up to him after school.

Toushirou one eyebrow twitched. He hated that nickname. Toushirou turned to see Momo running towards him. "What do you want Bed Wetter Momo?" He was already in an annoyed mood from a classmate earlier who tried to cheat off of him in class.

Momo finally reached Toushirou with cheeks puffed out when he called her that. "I do not wet the bed Shirou-Chan." Not anymore.

"I know that." Toushirou said. "Stop calling me Shirou-Chan and I'll stop calling you Bed Wetter Momo."

"But I always call you Shirou-Chan." Momo looked at Toushirou confused.

"And I always hated it." Toushirou sigh. "It something you would call a child."

"But we are children." Momo smiled. "We're only nine years old."

"Well then it's something you would call a baby." Toushirou retorted and Momo continued smiling.

"How about this? I'll stop calling you Shirou-Chan and start calling you by your first name when we get into highschool." Momo offered a solution.
"That's still a long way to go." Toushirou said. They're still in elementary school and then there's middle school before they get into highschool.

"That right." Momo smirked. "That means I still get to call you Shirou-Chan until highschool."

Toushirou shook his head. "Anyways what do you want?"

"Where are you going?" Momo asked.

"I'm going to the park to play soccer." Toushirou replied. "Why do you ask?"

"I wanted to know if you wanted to come and play with me." Momo was a little disappointed that Toushirou had plans.

"Want to come with me instead?" Toushirou asked. Momo perked up and nodded. The two started walking to the park.

"You know since Nanao-San graduated from highschool and started University, it's feels weird not having her walk with us to school every morning." Momo said noticing a highschool student walking with an preschool student.

"I know what you mean." Toushirou said. Nanao used to walk both of them to school, despite it taking it longer for her to get to her own school. It didn't use to be that way. He'd stilled remembered that she used split from their group because their school were in different directions. But ever since Rangiku was kidnapped, their parents felt it would be safer to have someone older make sure they got to school safe. Nanao volunteered for the job despite the fact it would take her longer to get to school.

"Hey Shirou-Chan, are you alright?" Momo looked at Toushirou who was deep in thought.

"Huh?" Toushirou head snapped up. "Oh, sorry Momo, just thinking." They reached the park were they met up with Karin and a few of the other kids that Toushirou usually plays soccer with. They waited a few more minutes for everyone to show up to divide into two teams. One team's captain was Karin while to other team's captain was Jinta.

While Karin and Jinta were picking people to be on their teams, Karin went first and picked Toushirou. Jinta picked Hiyori. The two continued picking until their teams were even. Since Momo wasn't playing, she rather hangout with Ururu and Yuzu on the side lines while the others played. A few hours later, Karin's team won and everyone went home. Some happy that they won, some not happy that they lost and those who just really had a good time playing a game they loved.

Rangiku was reading a book when Hitomi came back and went up to her room to let her know she can come downstairs and help put the shopping away. Rangiku went to work right away. She put the food away while Hitomi put everything else away. Once the shopping was put away, Hitomi handed Rangiku a plastic cup.

"Pee in that." Hitomi ordered noticing the confused look on her face. She didn't give Ran a reason why. There was one more bag that she didn't put away yet. She pulled out a pregnancy test. She thought about Ran throwing up earlier. Ran was young, but it wasn't unheard of. Ran soon came back out with the cup. Hitomi looked at the yellow liquid in the cup. She opened the box containing the pregnancy test. She placed on end of the stick in the cup for as long as they box said. And then they had to wait for the results of the test.

Rangiku thought it was strange for Hitomi to tell her to pee in a cup, but she did what she was told and handed the cup back to Hitomi. She didn't know what Hitomi was doing with her pee and that stick that she put in the cup. Rangiku looked at the time. It was way passed lunch but a little early to start dinner. Usually when Hitomi goes shopping, she would go out to eat for lunch. Which meant that Rangiku would usually skip lunch unless Gin had the day off of work.

"Now way." Hitomi blurted out as she read the result. She looked at Ran, setting the pregnancy test down on the table. She went over to her and placed a hand on on her stomach. While shocked, she was kind of happy. Upon seeing Ran's confused face, Hitomi grabbed the positive pregnancy test and showed her. "This means you're pregnant." Hitomi took Ran's hand and placed it on her stomach. "A baby is growing in there."

"Is that why i'm throwing up?" Rangiku asked and Hitomi nodded.

"I can't wait until Nii-San gets home so we can tell him." Hitomi threw the pregnancy test away. She wiped the table down with a clean cloth. "He's going to be so excited. He's going to be a father." Hitomi then had a thought. "We must prepare his favorite dish for tonight." Hitomi started listing off the ingredients, thankfully they had everything they need to make it.

Rangiku meanwhile was confused. If a baby was in her stomach, how did it get there? She knew women carried babies in their stomachs before they are born, but she wasn't sure how the baby got into their stomachs in the first place.

A few hours passed and Rangiku and Hitomi made Gin's favorite dinner. Gin came home as Rangiku was putting everyone's plates on the table.

"Smells delicious." Gin sat down in front of his plate. His most favorite meal. All three sat down and as they ate, Gin was telling the two about his day. How much of an ass his new boss currently was. How frustrated he was with his job.

When they were finished eating, Rangiku took the dishes to the sink to wash them. While she was doing dishes, she started the tea kettle. The kettle was boiling by the time Rangiku was done washing the dishes. She put a tea bag in a cup and poured the boiling water into the cup.

Hitomi saw what Ran was doing and decided she wanted a cup too. She got up and made her own cup of tea.

"Are ya feeling better Ran-Chan?" Gin asked remembering that Ran got sick that morning.

"Oh she's fine." Hitomi said smiling, then took a sip of her tea. "Ran-Chan is just pregnant." Hitomi looked at her brother waiting for what she said to sink in.

Gin nodded his head. "Oh she's just pregnant." Then it fully hit him. "Are ya sure?"

Hitomi nodded her head. "I picked up a pregnancy test at the store today." Hitomi then explained she had Ran peed in a cup and the test came back positive. "Aren't you happy? Ran-Chan is carrying your child. Sure it happened earlier than we probably thought it would happen, but it's still a happy thing. Your love created this child."

Gin nodded thinking about what Hitomi said. In a way, the pregnancy was something that really made him and Ran a family. The more he thought about it, the more happy he became. "Ran-Chan come here."

Rangiku just drank her tea in silence while Hitomi told Gin about her being pregnant. When Gin called her over to him, she walked and stood in front of him. He placed his hand over her stomach. She watched him closed his eyes in concentration, but had a big smile on his face.
