Chapter 1 *Ellie arrives home from school*

"Hmm.. the bus is already here, I wasn't expecting it to come so soon," said Jonathan. Jonathan Haynes, often called Jon by friends, waited for the small school bus meant to drive preschoolers and kindergartners home. In Slateport City, the school system does not allow children below first grade to walk home by themselves without their parents or guardians. With a small city such as theirs, the local children are well within walking distance of their homes but for the safety of younger children and their usually working parents, the city found it more practical to simply drive smaller children home.

"Dad! Mommy! I am home!" Such a tiny girl with an unusual blue tint to her dark brown, shoulder length hair looked adorable. Her father could not help but smile at the sweet child.

Pulling up his energetic daughter into his arms, he greeted her home with his joyful demeanor. "So my little blueberry, how was school today? Any new friends? Learn something fun and interesting?" Jonathan couldn't help but throw question after question to her.

Ellie, Jon's daughter, just smiled and giggled. Ellie took a few breaths to calm herself down before she spoke. "Well daddy, I.. uh..uh had SO much fun today at school! Miss Connely let us watch cartoons after we learned about numbers and math! She uh..even helped us with things like umm..she called it Grammar, I think, but I know I can write like you and mommy can now!"

"Plus, me and all my friends from school got to play tag during recess! Lindsey, Gloria, Frannie, Noah, Mickey, Trevor, Bee, Emma, Oliver and me had to hide while Jimmy and Ren had to look for us. I wish Kyle was there today but Miss Connely told us that he had to go to the dentist today. That sucks!"

Laughing while scrunching up her hair, Jon then told her that it was just part of getting bigger, having to keep your teeth clean and shiny. "Well kid, if your friend Kyle went to the dentist today, that just means he is going to have nice, clean teeth. Don't you want people to see your teeth shine when you smile.

Begrudgingly, Ellie responded with a pout. "Yes, I guess so daddy. But I won't have to because I always brush my teeth!" Yeah, she will win this fight today.

Forgetting about the argument about her teeth at the moment and finally letting out some energy, she told her daddy the best part. "So daddy… remember when you told me I could have a birthday party and told me to ask my classmates to come… well I like them all and they are my friends and they said they would come! Miss Connely even told Kyle's dad and he told her he could come!" Now since it was a small city and had small classes, it was only like thirteen kids in her kindergarten class but it was still a decent size.

It was a little difficult for her to remember many names but she knew they were Kyle, Jimmy, Gloria, Maria ("Bee" they called her since her last name started with a B and there was another Maria, was easier to remember), other Maria ("Frannie" was her nickname for same reasons as the first Maria), Emma, Noah, Oliver, Lindsey, Ren (a boy from outside of the Hoenn regions, him and his parents are immigrants who received citizen after moving four years ago), Lenny, Trevor, and Michael (Mickey was his nickname). "I cannot wait to have them over, eat cake, play games, and then unwrap the presents!" She finished.

Right before she could continue speaking, she felt her hair tingle and goosebumps run across her skin.

*While Jon and Ellie were speaking*

A wind blew through the trees while a person was picking fruits and vegetables. Gliding across the backyard garden as if levitating, the person picks a few pieces of ripe natural morsels ranging from carrots and broccoli to Oran and Chesto berries and apples.

A closer look would have others notice the figure was a woman with green hair swayed to the right. Her skin had a pale, luminous complexion and her face looked different from what most would think at first, her larger than normal eyes, and even more unique was the red protrusion on her chest. She wore a white dress and, for the time being, gardening gloves and a sun hat. Once someone took their time to look, they would realize that she was a Gardevoir, a humanoid, telepathic fairy-type pokemon.

"Well it is about time for me to go greet my sweet little baby," thought the gardevoir. She smiled, deciding to walk around the house to the front just in time to see her sweet baby in the arms of Jonathan. For a minute, she just stood there, watching her blueberry talk to the man she loved. After another minute, she chose to make her presence known by using her more simple telekinetic ability to brush Ellie's arm. The response was absolutely worth it the second she saw Ellie run toward her open arms.

Celia (pronounced as see-lee-uh), who was watching the conversation with amusement, caught the girl in her arms but using her telepathy instead of her voice, "Ellie, it doesn't matter how clean you make your teeth, you still need to go every so often to make sure they are not broken and other stuff, no ands, ifs, or buts."

"Ughhh. Fine momma, but I won't have to go now because they are clean and not broken." Ellie responded while giggling. She enjoyed the little banter her parents gave her from time to time.

However, with that out of the way, Ellie remembered what she wanted to tell her momma.

"Mommy! Hey momma, guess what!? All my friends from school are going to come to my birthday party!" Ellie practically screamed that out, leading Celia, the now revealed Gardevoir, to hush her.

In a low voice to emphasize, Celia telepathically spoke, "now my little blueberry, I am very glad to hear that but remember what we talked about before you went to school okay, for reasons your father and I will explain when you are older, you cannot call me mommy, momma, mother, or mom out loud. Many people will find that..weird and not normal and may even come here to talk. You are not in trouble but I just do not want to see people looking at you weird or trying to get your daddy in trouble, okay?"

Looking slightly downtrodden, Ellie simply responded, "okay. I am sorry I almost got you n' daddy in trouble."

"Again, it is okay. Everyone here does not know I am your mom because…well I don't look like your friends' moms and you do not look like me, you are unique after all." Celia hugged her daughter and continued speaking in her mind, "though I should tell you that most people that do know us think I am another pokemon that are companions to those who are called trainers, they think your real mom was a human and not me and that she died before moving here. Do not worry though, blueberry, you are mine since you do have my slightly pointy ears, even if they look mostly like a human's like your father's." It was at that point that Ellie could not help but giggle since she liked the way her mommy pointed out her cute ears hidden by her hair, she still did not know why no one ever asked her about her ears. Weird.

After a while of their playful banter and fun, Jon ushered Ellie into the house so that she could clean up and get cozy while Celia fixed dinner for the two loves of her life. Jon helped with the dishes, getting them prepared and dinnerware set while Celia prepared a nice, hearty vegetable soup with cornbread on the side. The cornbread recipe was a little, but useful gift from the little old lady, Mrs. Lona from down a few streets, who taught her the recipe after helping carry her groceries to her house while out with Jon and Ellie one day.

Once everyone got done eating the delicious meal, Jon announced it was ready for bed. He had to work, Celia was going to clean some more tomorrow and work on the garden, and Ellie had one more day of school before the weekend of her birthday.

*Bedtime*

Crawling into bed, Ellie waited for her mom to tuck her into bed so that she could get her normal bed song/story. "Mommy, will you sing for me tonight since I love your songs? Even daddy loves it when you sing so I want to hear it. Pleaaasseee." Damn it, Celia both loved and hated that drawn out please and cutesy grin since she knew her baby looked adorable but also manipulated others with it. It reminded her of when Ellie was smaller.

*Flashback starts*

Celia always loved and adored the little girl in front of her and her antics. Knowing that she had a bit of herself in that child prompted her to sing to her using a melodious voice to cast notes. "Hummm…hhmm…hmmmmm…dear little blueberry…please do grow old on me…you are too sweet, too pretty to grow old on me…do not grow old on me for you are my little blueberry…hummm…hmmm…" When she looked down at the toddler in her arms, she was instantly asleep, having been put to sleep by her mother's voice."

*Flashback ends*

"Hmmm, well since you asked so nicely, I guess I can sing just this once." the pokemon…woman…whatever it didn't matter since she was a female regardless of her species's lineage, gave her a grin then smiled, a second after settling some small little debate inside her head about pronoun usage. "Are you ready, Blueberry?"

After getting a quick nod from Ellie, she begins to sing a classic children's bedtime song, 'When You Wish Upon A Star,' in her melodious, surprisingly low-soprano voice:

"When you wish upon a star

Makes no difference who you are

Anything your heart desires

Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream

No request is too extreme

When you wish upon a star

As dreamers do

Fate is kind

She brings to those who love

The sweet fulfillment of their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue

Fate steps in and sees you through

When you wish upon a star

Your dreams come true."

After she got done singing to Ellie, she looked down and saw, as usual, that she was asleep and comfortable, snuggled up with her blankie and some cloud plushie that she always went to sleep with because it made her feel like she was 'hugging a cloud.'

*The greatest moment in her life*

No matter how old she got, it was always one of her all time favorite songs for bed. Singing it for her never ceased to make Celia happy. Looking down at Ellie's sweet face as her eyes began to droop before closing all the way reminded her of just how happy she was. She may not have had the "traditional Gardevoir family" but she would never trade what she had for anything. She met a man nearly 17 years ago who did not capture her for battle but to save her from dehydration after spending all her strength fighting off some Poochyenas that were trying to hunt her down.

The traveler who saved her

This man who was merely just a traveler, just fourteen years old at the time, trying to experience the world saved her and asked her to be his companion on the road, both to have company and to protect each other. There was no desire to fight or battle, merely experience and learn the world, specifically pokemon environment conservation, since he didn't find 'battling' all that interesting. Sure, he saw the charm and understood that many, if not most, pokemon actually enjoyed the thrills, opportunity for strengthening/advancement, and even the friendship of their human companions. They often gave them a safer, more relaxed environment than the ones they were used to but still, Jon did not like battling.

He noticed at a young age that despite all the benefits, many pokemon lacked the full autonomy to simply travel outside of a certain range of their trainers for various reasons and it made him feel uncomfortable if he ever did that. That is why he never touched my pokemon ball, the device used to store pokemon, again and stored it away once I was healed and given food. I understood what he was saying when he asked, "would you like to walk around all kinds of places as my friend?" I could neither speak nor tele-speak in my younger years, just barely shy of evolving from a Ralts to a Kirlia, but it did not stop me from running into his arms for a big hug, nudging my head into his neck before looking him in the eyes to give him a nod.

The Journey

Throughout our journey, we walked around all kinds of places, taking in the sights, visiting towns and cities alike. We got to see all sorts of people, pokemon, and even those who blended the roles such an Alakazam who helped in a mentally treatment facility, many physically strong pokemon like Machamp working in construction alongside humans - going as far as even sort of training and supervising some newer, younger employees, etc. It was interesting to see some of the regions the way we did and Jon even got to learn some things from both trainers and researchers, enough to help him land his jobs at both the local Pokemon environmental conservation facility and, previously, the speciality market that cater to pokemon with unique needs or incident-based disabilities not treatable or healable.

Bestfriends, dating, and love

We were best friends throughout all of that, even above the acquaintances and friends we made along the way. We shared beds since the first day we met, ate together, and trained together (of course it was for the purpose of self-defense and evolution but still). It was 7 years ago when we declared our true, romantic love to each other and I could not help it. That one moment alone made it all worth it not being in my "natural habitat."

However, I was wrong about that. It was when we made love the first time and not merely "dating" (a human notion but not one without similarities to common Gardevoir courtship so no big difference) that made it all worth it.

Then again, I would be proven wrong since each next milestone brought even greater happiness.

The first signs

We made love in many ways before but none of it was as intimate as our first time, the deepest level of intimacy that we could reach. Not once were we concerned about what could happen since we were happy and content with each other and our journey then it happened. One day, I felt something stir within me but I did not think much of it, maybe just a stomach bug, no big deal. Funny little thought that was back then. I was wrong because it wasn't so much a bug as it was a certain blueberry. I began to show signs of a bump forming around my belly and I noticed too that I hadn't really been in a good mood to eat a couple of my normal dishes. When Jon noticed, he was just as confused as me since I felt fine, other than the weird nausea, the emotional restlessness and the weight I had put on (maybe Jon's knowledge of pregnancy was lacking). We both knew that Gardevoir were different from humans in many ways, despite some genetic similarities… leave it to all the scientists throughout the world to not have any research on this beyond historical evidence of ancient human - pokemon marriages. I was pregnant. Not in the process of laying an egg but actually growing a child inside of me. I was more confused the whole time than I was actually scared since I did not feel any complications, pain or abnormalities beyond what would be considered abnormal from this already abnormal situation.

October 7th

October 7th, the day I gave birth to our baby daughter, her blue tinted hair earning her the name of Blueberry (well Ellie was what we both agreed to name her but her nickname did not follow too far behind) and I was lucky because the unique characteristic of my body in terms of pain threshold made the process much less painful.

We couldn't go to the hospital for fear that they would arrest Jon for 'pokephilia' (regardless of his intention, the law now and then would not distinguish Jon from the perverts who abused their pokemon for pleasure). However, being in our secluded rental home and seeing that (not expected to be human but not disappointed either) beautiful face with Jon standing over looking at her while keeping a watch for anyone was truly the moment that made it all worth it.

Done with all the reminiscing I had and looking at my beautiful, sleep daughter, I walked to Jon and my room to cuddle up with him before finally going to sleep.

"Goodnight Jon, set the alarm so that you won't wake up late, okay? Do you want pancakes and coffee tomorrow or would you prefer some oatmeal, a breakfast sandwich, and coffee?" Ellie asked.

"Uhhhh…I think I will have pancakes and coffee tomorrow this time. I haven't had them in a week so I think that will be a good way to start tomorrow," Jon answered her.

"Okay! Well goodnight hun, see you tomorrow morning."

"Good night to you too darling and see you in the morning," Jon responded back.

After wishing each other a goodnight, both Jon and Celia closed their eyes to sleep.
