STAR TREK
CHAOTIC FORCE
CHAPTER ONE
It was the break of down, as the bright Talosian sun rose ove rthe horizon. Coruscant – formerly known as Talos IV – was in the midst of a slow rebuilding process. Federation starships were in bay at the new starbases orbiting the planet, as Starfleet officers used numerous devices to remove the contamination from previous generations' nuclear conflicts. Crumbled buildings were razed, and new buildings were constructed.
There was one building which remained unharmed throughout all the years. It was the tallest building on the planet. At the bottom was what seemed like an ordinary building approximately fifteen stories. At each corner were colums adorned with observation towers. At the very center was a wide column which spanned a greater height than the four colums combined. It was also adorned with an observation deck, with windows surrounding every side of thw tower.
Ambassador Sonal – unbeknownst to others as his true self, Darth Chaos – surveyed the surroundings as he looked outside. Dressed in his traditional Vulcan robes, he heard the chime at the newly-installed turbolift. "Enter," he said. The turbolift door opened, and he was greeted by a familiar face. "Jean-Luc…"
"Ambassador Sonal," the aging captain said, "it's so good to see you." They shook hands. "Son, I am very proud of your reconstruction efforts on Talos IV."
"You mean Coruscant," Sonal said with a smile. "Coruscant is the true name of this planet. Remember, the Talosians feared that the Dark Side would return. That is why they changed the name of the planet and gave the illusion of a black hole." Sonal was deep in thought. "Oh and by the way, I should call you Admiral. Congratulations on your promotion, sir."
"Thank you very much, Sonal," Picard said. "However, there is one thing that makes me sad about being an admiral."
"And what is that, sir?" Sonal looked at Picard.
"I can no longer command a starship. Federation protocol prohibits it." Picard looked outwards and saw one of the starbases. "I miss exploring strange new worlds. Seeking new life. Seeking new civilizations. Now I know why Admiral Kirk regretted being admiral."
"Being an admiral is not the be-all, end-all, sir." Sonal motioned for Picard to sit with him in the chairs of the old Jedi masters. "As admiral, you will serve a greater purpose, just as Admiral Janeway does. She is one of the most respected admirals in Starfleet, and so shall it be with you. Being an admiral is more than just sitting in an office communicating with Starfleet captains. You get to touch civilizations in a way that no Starfleet captain could ever dream of."
Picard got up and looked out the window and saw construction being finalized on a building. "Sonal, that building looks spectacular. What is it?"
Sonal rose and looked out. "That is a recreation of the Coruscant ampitheater. It was used in the days of the Galactic Republic for entertainment." Sonal looked sad. "It was also the location where...Palpatine seduced Anakin Skywalker to betray the Jedi."
"Why would you want to recreate such a place?" Picard looked confused.
"As a reminder of history...and a warning that those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Sonal looked at Picard. "Logic dictates that we look forward, not backwards, but we must also set reminders for ourselves to not allow emotions to dictate our actions. Such actions are illogical and...traits of the Dark Side."
"But Sonal," Picard said, "you put an end to the Jedi and the Sith once and for all."
Sonal patted a hand on the left pocket of his Vulcan robe and felt two metal objects inside. "Indeed I did, sir," Sonal said, "and we can rest assured that they will remain a distant memory for all eternity."
Picard heard a beep on his communicator. He looked at the device and read a message on the display. "It seems that we will be returning to Earth in thirty minutes, so I must make my departure. Sonal, if you ever need me, if you need a friend, colleage, or mentor to talk to, feel free to contact me."
Sonal smiled. "Indeed I will, sir. Thank you for everything." He offered a Vulcan salute. "Live long and prosper, my friend."
Picard raised a similar salute. "Peace and long life, son." Picard pressed a button on his commbadge. "Picard to Excelsior, rerady to beam up." Within seconds, the transporter matrix activated, and he was gone.
Sonal walked to observe the finishing construction of the ampitheater, and also saw work finalizing on the old Galactic Senate building as well as the tall tower at the center. He slowly removed his hood, and as the bright sun shone in the room, his eyes began to yellow as he slowly removed the facade of Sonal. He felt the anger swell as memories of his beloved Caitlin Yar being assimilated by the Borg flashed in his mind. His hand delved into the pocket, and he retrieved the lightsabers which were used by Rey Skywalker and Ben Solo to seemingly destroy Palpatine.
"All too easy," the dark voice of Darth Chaos said softly. Chaos put his hood back up and left for his private spaceport. At the base was an officer dressed in a black military uniform. "Governor Datomir, ready my shuttle for Delta IV."
"Aye, sir," Datomir said. "Sir, what is on Delta IV?" He began to gasp for breath as Chaos rose his hand and slowly pinched his fingers together.
"What is on Delta IV does not concern you, governor," Chaos said with a sinister voice. "Your only concern is to ready the Imperial troops for an attack on the Federation. It was the Federation which created the Borg. Therefore, the Federation are the ones responsible for the assimilation of...Caitlin Yar." He released his grip, and the governor collapsed on the ground trying to regain control of his breathing. "Do not choke on your aspirations, governor." Chaos board his ship and took off.
