Chapter 2

Arelia's POV

I definitely had a stupid look on my face as I looked around in awe. I didn't know where to look. I definitely got over the fact that I got mobbed just a second ago really quick.

First thing I see are bronze, silver and gold cauldrons-heck, there might be diamond ones inside for all I know- but honest to god cauldrons-I'm loving the cliché here! I see some ppl at various stalls with owners screaming out, "Only 2 knuts for... so and so" and someone walking out of the Apothecary muttering over the prices of dragon liver. There were shops selling robes, telescopes, trunks, and spell books! So many floating exclamation points just begging to be interacted with.

Hagrid chuckled, and gently guided me to an imposing, white, marble building with giant letters spelling out GRINGOTTS. It had large bronze doors and guards at both sides. We walked through the doors to see a second set of doors with the ominous words:

Enter, stranger, but take heed

Of what awaits the sin of greed,

For those who take, but do not earn,

Must pay most dearly in their turn.

So if you seek beneath our floors

A treasure that was never yours,

Thief, you have been warned, beware

Of finding more than treasure there.

We head towards one of the lines for the tellers, after waiting a bit we reach the desk where we see a goblin seemingly paying no mind to us while counting rubies.

"Yes, How may Gringotts help you today?"

"Mornin," Hagrid said to the sneering goblin, " We've come ter take some money outta Ms. Arelia Potter's vault."

"And does Ms. Arelia Potter, have the key?" He (?) peers down at me.

"Got it here somewhere," said Hagrid, and he started emptying his pockets on the counter, scattering a handful of mold dog biscuits over the goblin's book of numbers. The goblin wrinkled his nose.

"Got it!" Hagrid hands it over to the goblin.

"That seems to be in order."

"An' I've also got a letter here from Professor Dumbledore," said Hagrid importantly, throwing out his chest. "It's about the You-Know-What in vault seven hundred and thirteen."

The goblin read the letter carefully.

"Very well," he said, handing it back to Hagrid, "I will have someone take you down to both vaults. Griphook!"

Ping! Gringotts Mini Game!

The objective of this mini game is to collect as many coins as you can!

The prize is determined by how much you can collect!

On the way to the tracks, Hagrid hands me a moleskin pouch that could apparently hold an endless number of things.

Huh, convenient.

After a rollercoaster of a ride, we finally end up at the vault where suddenly the world froze, Hagrid became NPC-like and a big button appears in front of the vault

'BEGIN MINI GAME: PRESS TO START'

I press the start button, and a timer for two minutes starts.

I enter the vault and immediately it starts raining money-which sounds amazing, but these are gold coins with some heft to them. I hurry to try to catch as many as I can whilst shoving as many as I can into the pouch. It was a frenzy, running around trying to catch them all. Not to mention getting hit in the head a bunch.

I hear a loud buzzer sound and realize that the game is over and this pops up:

Ping! Mini Game Complete!

You caught a total of 38 Knuts, 67 Sickles, and 339 Galleons!

Unfortunately you did not catch enough to win ?, but as a consolation prize you get:

-Arelia Potter's Vault Key

-200 XP

I exhale in disappointment but at least I have money now for supplies and money for the finishes his business with the you-know-what in vault 713 and we're off.

As we're leaving the bank, I notice that Hagrid looks a bit green and offer to finish some shopping while he takes a break. We agree to meet at Ollivanders later in the day.

I head out to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, as I walk in a bell rings and an attendant arrives to assist me in a very NPC way and says, "Hi! Welcome to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions! Are you a Hogwarts student?"

The world then freezes, and a menu shows up:

Work Robes 15G

Pointed Hat 5G

Winter Cloak 20G

Dragon-hide Gloves 35G

There were other options too, like dress robes and Acromantula silk robes but they were greyed out.

I notice there's a little expand button under the Dragon hide Gloves and curiously press it.

A small description shows up:

Dragon-hide Gloves

Gloves made from dragon-hide are very tough as well as being spell-resistant! They can protect you from being burned or bitten!

I read the description somewhat disappointed, hoping I could potentially get some buffs but it's alright, I guess. I purchase three of the work robes and one each of the other things, paying a total of 105 galleons! Geez!

I quickly put those in my inventory and head to the next shop.

Next up is Flourish and Blotts and I hear an NPC calling out, " Textbook bundles are on sale this year! Save some money by buying the bundle instead of them individually!"

The menu for the shop opens up (and there are so many options):

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 6G

Holidays with Hags 7G

The Book of Charms & Spells 5G

Obviously, there were more but here are just some of the things. I got the first-year bundle, Curses and Countercurses, Tales of Beedle the Bard, The Book of Charms & Spells and Practical Household magic. I spent a total of 45G and 5K.

Whoo! Another thing off the checklist!

Now here's where things get interesting!

At the apothecary, each ingredient had an effect.

For example, aconite caused a -50 HP/min effect, while a bezoar could erase debuffs caused by poison.

I quickly gathered everything I needed and hurried to the wand shop since I wasted too much time at the book store. I met with Hagrid at the entrance. Hagrid had a wide beaming smile on his face and was carrying a large cage. He raised it up to show me and it was a beautiful snowy owl.

"Is this for me?" He nodded.

"I- I- You didn't have to-"

"Don' mention it," said Hagrid gruffly. "Don' expect you've had a lotta presents from them Dursleys. Just Ollivanders left now – only place fer wands, Ollivanders, and yeh gotta have the best wand."

oooOOOOOoooooO a wand!

The last shop was narrow and shabby. Peeling gold letters over the door read Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 381 B.C. A single wand lay on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window.

A tinkling bell rang somewhere in the depths of the shop as we stepped inside. It was a tiny place, empty except for a single, spindly chair that Hagrid sat on to wait. I felt strangely nervous as though he had entered a very strict library; I swallowed a lot of new questions that had just occurred to me and looked instead at the thousands of narrow boxes piled neatly right up to the ceiling. The very dust and silence in here seemed to tingle with some secret magic.

"Good afternoon," said a soft voice.

An old man was standing before them, his wide, pale eyes shining like moons through the gloom of the shop.

"Hello," said I awkwardly.

"Ah yes," said the man. "Yes, yes, I thought I'd be seeing you soon. Arelia Potter." It wasn't a question. "You have your mother's eyes. It seems only yesterday she was in here herself, buying her first wand. Ten and a quarter inches long, swishy, made of willow. Nice wand for charm work."

Mr. Ollivander moved closer to me.

"Your father, on the other hand, favored a mahogany wand. Eleven inches. Pliable. A little more power and excellent for transfiguration. "Well, I say your father favored it – it's really the wand that chooses the wizard, of course."

Mr. Ollivander had come so close that he and I were almost nose to nose.

"And that's where…"

Mr. Ollivander touched the lightning scar on Harry's forehead with a long, white finger.

"I'm sorry to say I sold the wand that did it," he said softly. "Thirteen and a half inches. Yew. Powerful wand, very powerful, and in the wrong hands…well, if I'd known what the wand was going out into the world to do…."

"Er... it's alright Mr. Ollivander-Could we maybe get my wand now?"

"Well, now – Ms. Potter. Let me see." He pulled a large tape measure with silver markings out of his pocket. "Which is your wand arm?"

"Er – well, I'm right-handed"

"Hold out your arm. That's it." He measured me from shoulder to finger, then wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit and round his head. Basically every which way. As he measured, he said, "Every Ollivander wand has a core of a powerful substance, Ms. Potter. We use unicorn hairs, phoenix tail feathers, and the heartstrings of dragons. No two Ollivander wands are the same, just as no two unicorns, dragons, or phoenixes are quite the same. And of course, you will never get such good results with another wizard's wand."

I suddenly realized that the tape measure, which was measuring between my nostrils, was doing this on its own. Mr. Ollivander was flitting around the shelves, taking down boxes.

"That will do," he said, and the tape measure crumpled into a heap on the floor. "Right then, Ms. Potter. Try this one. Beechwood and dragon heartstring. Nine inches. Nice and flexible. Just take it and give it a wave."

We tried hundreds of wands until...

Ping! Congratulations on your first wand!
