The rain was coming down heavy, in the distance the clouds were forming together turning a dark grey. A storm was coming. Maya was soaked, once she had stormed out of Carina DeLuca's office she just walked and walked. She needed to clear her head. Why did she say that, that woman must have thought she was a psycho stalker? She just got so wound up and blurted it out. What the hell was she thinking?
By the time she got to Top Joes bar it must have been 7pm. Maya's feet and back ached, she must have walked around for hours. Drenched and dripping with water she made her way to the bar and ordered her usual. Double rum, it was one of her favourites. After placing her dripping hoodie on the coatrack near the door, she sat down on the stool right at the bar. Swirling her drink in the glass before downing it. It was always quiet around this time. Just a few people hanging about but no one she knew thank god.
"Hey Owen, another two please, wait actually just give me the bottle. Put it on my tab." Owen handed her over the bottle. "Maya you look like shit, not seen you around much these past days. You ok?... Oh yeah, just thought I'd mention; Andy was in here the other night. She asked about you. You should speak to her again. Your old team misses you; you know." Maya poured herself another drink before responding. "Its been a year, I don't want to see them. Not after what I did, they're better off without me. That's why I quit after the accident."
Owen put his hand on her shoulder, "Drinking in here all the time isn't going to help you deal with your issues. Go get back out there and live your life. You're a PI now you must have some good work going for you. And go find yourself a woman and get back in the game, hell find someone in the bar," he laughed, smiled and walked to the other end of the bar to serve another customer.
Maya had finished near enough the whole bottle of rum by the time she had looked at the time on her phone, realising she had been sat there for 2 hours slowly drinking away. Slightly tipsy but nowhere near as drunk as she should be. She had noticed the bar was filling up quite quickly. She turned her head round to look over to the entrance, the bell chimed as the door opened. Now she really regretted heading to the bar instead of back home. Carina DeLuca had just walked in the door, looking stunning as ever Maya thought. Noticing the tight black jeans and a deep red low-cut top underneath a leather jacket she was wearing. Maya couldn't help but keep gazing in that direction. Carina put her jacket on the coatrack and connected eyes with Maya. As quickly as their eyes met, Carina disappeared to the other side of the bar. Maya went to pour another drink but was accidentally nudged by a red headed woman taking a seat next to her.
"Sorry about that, I will get you another drink. So, what brings your sweet charming face to this bar?" the woman grinned stroking her hand down Maya's arm. Maya pulled her arm away from the woman, irritated and snappy she told her," Look I'm not interested! Go and find someone else to distract you."
The woman still sat beside her. Trying way to hard to give attention to Maya.
Carina watched Maya from the other end of the bar, she could see the rage and the sadness in her posture and the way she spoke to that woman. She had issues; she had heard them literally hours ago. But knowing now that she was the person that saved her life last night changed things. She was still processing the session with Maya in her head. She was broken but she could easily be fixed back together. She must have scared her right off in her office and that's why she's in here drinking a hell of a lot. She knew she had to make things right.
"Look lady if you don't get the hell away from me, I will chuck you out this bar myself," Maya shouted while slamming her glass down on the bar. The woman was taken aback and was about to reply, but when a hand was placed on Maya's shoulder and Carina's face appeared behind her, she nervously smiled.
Carina gently spun Maya on the stool to face her, and then looked at the red headed stranger, "I think it's time you leave this space and my date the hell alone. Go find someone else to chat up with them shitty chat up lines, which totally don't work by the way." Maya laughed when the woman took off angrily and headed towards her next target. "I could have handled that Dr DeLuca," she sarcastically said swigging her drink. Carina sat down on the now unoccupied seat next to her. "Oh, I know you could have handled it. Look I'm sorry about earlier, you just freaked me out with what you said in my office. If you had given me the chance before you ran off from me, I was going to say thank you." Carina smiled at Maya and got Owen to get them two drinks. "Do you mind if I join you for a drink Maya?"
"Your already seated, aren't you? Here try some of this." Maya smiled and poured her the last bit of liquid left in the bottle into her empty glass.
"So… Dr DeLuca, would this be classed as another session? I mean I did have that situation in control earlier. She would have taken the hint eventually," Maya smirked back. Carina hadn't stopped staring at Maya since she had sat down. "Look Maya what happened in my office earlier, it was a natural reaction. You don't realise how strong you are. I shouldn't technically be drinking with you right now seeing as you're my client. But under circumstances you never actually paid for that session; due to you storming out."
Maya looked dead on into Carina's dazzling brown eyes. Their was undeniably a connection between them and surely Carina knew that too, " Look before I say anything out of line, I just want you to know…" Maya got up off the stool and walked towards the women's restroom. She looked back at Carina, "Your pretty hot for a therapist." Carina sat stunned as she watched Maya walk through the restroom door.
