A/N ~ Okay so you might have read this before because I uploaded it a few months ago but deleted it because I abandoned it after 3 chapters. But I am committed and now have many many pre written chapters so this version is not getting abandoned!
"One more thank you very much!" Meredith grinned at Joe after taking a shot.
"One more usually means only one more. You keep saying it and it's losing all meaning." he said, chuckling.
She let her chin rest on her hand as she squinted at him. "You know what? I deserve this!" she said, pointing her finger to herself.
"I get it, he's married."
Meredith frowned and inhaled sharply before she felt an arm on her shoulder. "Mer, it's getting late, let's go home."
She turned around, still frowning. "No, Cristina, I can't just go home, because he's married!"
Cristina sighed, spared her friend the extra conflict and looked at Joe. "Make sure she gets home safe." After weakly smiling down at Meredith, she left. Meredith turned to face the new shot glass in front of her. She downed it, slammed it back down and smiled at Joe.
"One more, please." she said, tilting her head. Joe sighed and walked away to get another shot as she grinned to herself.
"Is that the best idea?" came a voice. Meredith slowly turned to her left to see a man sliding onto the seat next to her. She blinked a few times, before turning away. "Wow. Was it something I said?"
She looked at him again. He was smirking, and she swore she could feel his blue eyes burning through hers. She was very drunk.
"Yes, actually" she replied, grinning and biting her lip.
"What did I say?" he said playfully, maintaining strong eye contact.
"I, can't remember," Meredith giggled. He laughed softly and looked to the ground as her smile grew.
"So." His eyes met hers.
"So."
"So, what's your story?"
"Oh god," She took a deep breath. "Please don't ask me that." He frowned and tilted his head.
"Well, forgive me for wondering why such a pretty girl is sitting at a bar, alone, wasted."
Meredith cringed slightly. "Let me feel sorry for myself in peace," she said, raising her eyebrows at him.
"Oh of course, I'm here to do the same," he smirked.
"Bullshit," she said, narrowing her eyes. "You've just sat here and started flirting with me." She bit her lip again.
"Plans change" he shrugged with his head downturned, looking up at her.
"They sure do." Meredith put her head down in her arms on the bar. She wondered what the hell she was doing, but was pulled from her thoughts as she felt the man's hand on her back. She lifted her head slightly and locked eyes with him. She sat up and sighed. "What's got you feeling sorry for yourself, then?"
"I'm here trying to win back a married woman," he said, cringing.
Meredih mouth opened in small disbelief, before it turned into a smile and she started laughing.
"Hey!" he said, almost laughing with her.
"Sorry, sorry. It's just-" Sbe looked at him, sucking her lips in. "I- yeah. Nevermind. So is she supposed to turn up in this bar?" she said, looking around.
"No, no. I meant I'm here, in Seattle, for her."
"Oh, where are you from?"
"The big apple."
She scrunched her nose up. "Really?" she let out a laugh.
A broad smile took up his face. "Why is everything I say so funny? How much have you had to drink?"
"No! No it's just.." Meredith closed her eyes and shook her head, smiling. "It's ironic." She opened her eyes to look at him. His eyebrows were wrinkled and he was squinting at her. When he saw she opened her eyes, he raised an eyebrow and the squint softened. After a moment she looked away quickly and told him she was leaving. She confirmed her bag was hanging off her shoulder and went to stand up, but her foot got caught on one of the chair legs, sending her straight into the arms of the man.
"Woah, you okay?" He said. She could hear the smile in his voice.
Meredith chuckled and let out a breath. Pulling away and steading herself, she looked into his eyes and smiled, biting her lip.
"Maybe I can give you a ride home." He said calmly.
She breathed in. "I don't even know your name."
"Mark. Mark Sloan".
She held out my hand to shake his, giggling at the formality. "Meredith Grey."
Mark took her hand softly and brought it to his side, gently pulling her closer. She looked up from their hands to his eyes. They seemed stuck in place, staring at her lips. It made her slightly nervous but she didn't move. He leaned down and their lips met. She closed her eyes, as he did, and hung her arm around his neck. She felt his hand slowly gliding up her back. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion, and for a short moment she forgot why she was even originally at the bar, drowning her sorrows. Said sorrows did not seem so important anymore. At least, not for the night.
A/N ~ The rest of the chapters aren't this short, and this is not a MerMark fic so don't be scared away. By the way, everyone on here loves reviews and the good news is they're so easy to do. Just leave one if you feel like it. The first time I left a review on someone's story I felt so good about myself I was like wow I'm such a nice person LMAO im not joking. okay bye :)
