Chapter 20
The next few weeks were fairly uneventful. Amelia could be found in either the library or the hospital wing. She quite liked helping madame Pomfrey, enjoying the fact that she was helping people. It felt good to know that she could make people feel better with just a few waves of her wand and the right set of words. Madame Pomfrey seemed to be approving of her work, often complimenting her ability to pick up on things rather quickly. At this very moment, she was spending the afternoon in the hospital wing again, currently bandaging up a first year who had been just a little bit too enthusiastic with his broom, scraping his elbow when a stunt went wrong. She had just finished treating him, when the doors were opened and two familiar redheads walked inside, one of them sweating and shaking, while the other was holding a bloody cloth to his nose. Slightly panicked she jumped up from her seat next to the first year, running up to the twin with the bloody nose.
"What in the name of Merlin's beard have you done?" She asked, as she helped George onto the closest empty bed, motioning for Fred so sit down on the other one. George grinned sheepishly, removing the cloth he had been holding to his nose, only for the bleeding to resume.
"A little mishap, I'm afraid."
"You could say that again. You look like you got hit in the nose by a bloody mountain troll!" She motioned over to madame Pomfrey, who had been talking to a student in the far corner of the room.
"We were testing the skiving snackboxes." George said softly, so madame Pomfrey wouldn't hear him. Amelia shook her head disapprovingly.
"That was very irresponsible of you. I've told you before to make sure you have a counterspell at the ready." She pinched his nose closed. "Now, head forward and keep pressing your nose closed." Madame Pomfrey had reached them by now, immediately taking over with George, leaving Amelia to turn toward her boyfriend.
"Are you okay?" She asked him softly, pressing the back of her hand against his sweaty forehead.
"Yeah, I feel fine." He shivered and leaned into her cold hand. "Especially with a pretty healer like you." She playfully swatted his leg with her free hand, before handing him a vial of peppering up potion.
"What exactly were you testing anyway?"
"Fever Fudge. And George had the Nosebleed nougats. I think he drew the short end of the stick." She checked his reaction to the potion, before frowning.
"I wouldn't be too sure about that, Freddie. I think George will be walking out of here in five minutes. You're not so lucky." He looked at her, with a confused look in his eyes. "Nosebleeds are way easier to get rid of." Fred pouted, as she handed him another potion. Then his eyes lit up.
"At least I have a pretty nurse."
"You, Fred Weasley, are incorrigible." They smiled at each other as they waited for the potion to start working, George soon joining them.

Several hours later the potions finally started to kick in, enabling Fred to get up and head to dinner with Amelia and George. Amelia waved at madame Pomfrey as they left, before talking to the twins about the invention that had been the reason they had to come in in the first place.
"It's a good idea, really. But it won't do students any good to skip class if they have to spend the time they get off in the hospital wing." She said.
"You're right." Fred and George said in unison.
"You'd need to find some way to provide the antidote as well. Maybe a second candy?" George suddenly stopped, a grin on his face.
"Or we just put both in one candy and give them different colors. For instance: When the fever fudge is orange, we make the antidote part purple and melt them together."
"To get sick you bite the first half and to get better you eat the rest!" They enthusiastically started planning out ideas, before suddenly Fred said something that made Amelia stop in her tracks.
"Sorry? What did you just say?" Immediately Fred's ears turned red. She didn't really know if it was out of anger or embarrassment.
"I said: if Bagman pays up. We won a bet." She raised her eyebrows at both twins.
"How come I don't know about this? I've been with you pretty much all through the quidditch cup, which I'm pretty sure is the place where this happened." George scratched the back of his neck.
"I guess you were walking a bit further ahead with Ginny. Anyway, we won the bet and that great ball of bat bile paid his debt with leprechaun money." Amelia balled her hands into fists, trying hard not to get too angry at the situation.
"Well, I think we should get you your money boys. What's the plan?"

April first was just around the corner and the group was discussing what they would do for the twins' birthday. Amelia was quite sure they would most likely just like to have an old fashioned Gryffindor dorm party, so that was what they were planning. It was up to Amelia and Angelina to distract the twins, while the rest of their group, along with pretty much all other Gryffindors, readied the common room for the party. It was quite handy that the twins were pretty much loved by everyone. Although Amelia did get annoyed by the gaggle of girls fawning over them. It kind of got on her nerves, especially when there were girls that seemed to just have stepped off of a magazine cover. She wasn't really insecure, but it was quite hard not to be, when you were seemingly surrounded by a crowd that seemed to have been plucked out of a muggle catalog. Amelia was pulled out of her thoughts, when Angelina turned to her, trying to figure out how they were going to get the twins to stay away from the common room for a while.

Distracting the twins was a lot easier than both girls had expected. It was in fact George who came with the idea of enjoying a walk around the grounds and a little visit to Hagrid. Amelia happily let herself be led outside, Fred's hand warmly clasped around hers. It felt good to be spending a little more time with him, since they both had been quite busy with their own projects. The twins had been hard at work on their inventions, while Amelia spent most of her time in the hospital wing or studying for her OWLS. She had been more determined to get the grades she needed for healer training than she had ever been. But now, as the four of them were strolling down the grassy field leading to Hagrid's hut, the air crisp around them, nothing else seemed to matter. She was happy to be with her friends and boyfriend, her mind completely away from everything that caused her stress. For the first time in weeks she had time to think about how she hadn't heard anything from her dad since that Hogsmeade weekend or what kind of spells she needed to teach Harry for the third task. She had time to think about how to stop the drama that was surrounding Hermione, although that had seemed to have died down.
"What are you thinking about?" Fred asked, as he threw his arm around her, trying to get her a little bit warmer. The gesture filled her with warmth and she snuggled closer to him.
"Nothing. Everything. I'm just enjoying spending time with you." He pressed a kiss against her forehead.
"I'm happy to hear that." She answered his words with a smile, before they caught up with George and Angelina. It frustrated Amelia to no end that the two of them still hadn't taken any steps. She was ready to lock them in a broom closet until they confessed their feelings. Or at the very least snogged each others brains out.
When they reached Hagrid's he seemed very happy to see them, immediately offering them some rock hard bisquits, which, as he proudly announced, he had baked himself. Amelia had bravely taken a bite, chewing on it for about three minutes, before giving up and feeding the rest to Fang, who seemed to have trouble with it as well. They talked about anything and everything, until Amelia noticed the time on her watch and gave a subtle sign to Angelina.
"I think it's time we head up to the castle. I still have quite a lot of homework that needs to be done." This was a lie, since Angelina had copied quite a lot of Amelia's work, just so she could be done in time for the party. But the twins didn't know this. So they said goodbye to Hagrid and Fang and started making their way up to the castle, Fred and Amelia falling a little behind, just so they could have a few extra moments alone. They made lame jokes and swung their hands back and forth until they reached the portrait, where George and Angelina were waiting for them.
"Why don't the two of you go first?" Amelia said to Fred and George, trying hard not to grin at their suspicious faces. Apparently they trusted the two of them enough to do as they were told, only to be greeted by a choir of voices yelling out.
"SURPRISE!"

The party was in full swing, music playing loud enough to dance, but not too loud to be the only thing you heard. Amelia was enjoying the scene around her, waiting for the surprise she had arranged for the boys. Just as she was thinking about it, a few house elves appeared, being lead by Dobby and carrying an enormous cake. They placed the cake on the table they had placed in the middle of the room and Dobby bowed for Amelia, his long nose almost touching the ground.
"Please Dobby, what did we agree on? No bowing remember? We're friends."
"Yes miss Amelia." She lovingly kissed the top of Dobby's head, grinning he looked at her with his big eyes even bigger than normal.
"Thank you." When the house elves had disappeared, Amelia lit the candles and asked the twins to blow them out. Nobody seemed to notice Amelia taking quite a few steps back, as the twins bent towards the cake. "Make a wish guys!" She called out, before closing her eyes. There was a bang and she felt the pieces of cake wheezing past her, some getting stuck in her hair. She opened her eyes, laughing at the shocked faces all around the room.
"What is this?!" Angelina let out, still sounding shocked and confused. Amelia grinned at her.
"The cake needed something extra."
"So you decided to make it explode?!" Before Amelia could answer her question, the butterbeer in George's hand made a strange noise, making him look down in the bottle. A big mistake, seeing as it started spraying its contents into his face. Amelia started laughing at Angelina's guilty look. George also looked at Angelina.
"Did you do this, Angie?" His eyes were wide, his face wet from the butterbeer.
"Yeah." She grinned sheepishly. The whole room watched as George put the bottle down, walked towards Angelina and kissed her square on the lips. Angelina, not one to be upstaged, wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her lips harder to his.
"FINALLY!" It took Amelia a second to realize that it was her own voice that had called out. She had apparently shaken the rest of the house out of their daze, since they started clapping and whistling.
When the excitement of the big kiss had died down, Fred walked over to Amelia, pulling her close. They were both still covered in cake, but they absolutely did not care. He softly caressed her cheek, wiping off some cake, before sticking his finger in his mouth.
"Strawberry and chocolate. My favorite."
"Only the best for you, Mr Weasley." He kissed her tenderly.
"I love you."
"I love you to. A lot"
