A World Without Heroes.
Shiva Fortress.
After a while of walking, the Servants got to this city, which used to be New Delhi. Although, calling it a Fortress would be more accurate. Giant golden and black walls barricaded the city, but outside of that everything seemed just like it was in their world, except… More sinister.
The Foreigners could feel that something wasn't right, but they couldn't pinpoint the exact location of where the anomaly was coming from. They soon found out however, it was all around them.
"That Empress, that the guy mentioned before, are we all thinking the same thing right?" - Roland asked as they walked.
"It probably refers to that woman, Shirona, Master's mother" - Enkidu answered - "But how did she manage to take over this world? How did she get her hands on a Fantasy Tree?" -
"So this is what the Empress has been doing to this world…" - Parvati said as she took a few steps towards Shiva Fortress - "Why did she… Named it after him?" -
"If I should guess, it's probably mockery" - Moriarty Ruler answered.
"Do you all think… She killed Master?" - Passionlip asked.
"While we cannot rule out the possibility, I don't think it's likely" - EMIYA answered - "Think about it, when we were back in Chaldea she not only managed to stop us from moving without even trying, but she also proved that Master wasn't a rival to her. If she wanted to kill him, that was the perfect time to do so" -
"He's right. For now, we must assume that Master is still alive. I doubt she'd wait to kill him" - Raikou said right after.
Probably the weirdest things to all the Servants, however, was that none of the civilians seemed to even note that they were different. They didn't even need to go into Spirit form and hide themselves.
They soon made their way to the entrance to Shiva Fortress, noticing how the place was heavily armed, but not only by soldiers. Giant 4 legged beasts roamed the perimeter, they didn't attack but they made rounds at every civilian that walked near them.
"What are those things…?" - Ushi asked as she saw them from afar.
"They seem to be some sort of Phantasmal Beast, but that shouldn't be possible. All retreated to the Reverse Side of the World…" - Medea answered.
"Well, I don't think this place plays by the rules we're used to. So far the only normal thing we've seen are the people, and even they feel off" - Tesla continued.
"You've felt it too right? When we talked with that man before, his eyes were empty, he looked almost dead" - Helena said as she remembered.
"We won't find any answers if we simply stand here without doing anything. Maybe inside the Fortress we'll find out more" - Bradamante said as she began walking towards the entrance of the Shiva Fortress.
"Welcome to the magnificent Shiva Fortress, one of the 5 Great Cities" - one of the guards said to Bradamante - "Are you here for the Festival of the Red Sky?" -
"Um… Yeah, that's exactly why we're here!" - Bradamante answered confused as to what the guards were talking about.
"Have fun, citizen. May the Empress bless you" -
Seeing how Bradamante entered the city so easily, the rest soon followed her step. Despite their huge numbers, the guards didn't react, simply asked the exact same thing they asked to Bradamante, in the exact same tone of voice.
Once inside, they noticed how the city seemed pretty advanced. The buildings were new and shiny, the streets were clean, and the people seemed happy, yet all of them had the exact same empty eyes as all others.
"Are you all seeing this? What's that light in the middle of the city?" - Illya asked as she looked at a bright red glow.
"I'll go and check, stay here" - Ishtar said as she took flight and went to see what it was. What she saw wasn't reassuring - "Um, everyone? I think you'll want to see this" -
After hearing Ishtar's words, all of them rushed to the center of the city, pushing civilians out of their way to see what their friend had seen.
"Thanks for coming, everyone!" - a male voice spoke, the governor of Shiva Fortress - "We hope you're enjoying the current festivities!" -
The Servants saw this man speaking in front of the entire crowd, who were cheering for him.
"It has been a long 50 years ever since the magnificent Empress Shirona rose to power. Even though the world itself opposed her, she never once retreated or fled. And it is thanks to her that we're allowed to live on this precious world" -
"Praise be to our Heavenly Empress!" - the crowd chanted after hearing that. The Servants were sickened upon hearing them.
"However, there are those that do not follow the words of our Empress. They wish to destroy the world she has gifted us, and as such they deserve nothing but punishment. Drag them in here!" -
The guards then came into presence, dragging a group of people with them. Just with a single look at them, the Servants could tell that they were the first people they've met that weren't affected by whatever Shirona did to that world.
"These hateful individuals tried to destroy the generator of Shiva Fortress, which would've had devastating consequences for all of us. Now, they will pay with their lives for threatening ours" -
The crowd started to cheer as the guards prepared to shoot.
"Your final words?" - one of the guards asked.
"YOU'RE ALL SICK! WAKE UP, THIS ISN'T HOW THE WORLD IS SUPPOSED TO BE!" - one of the captured people yelled, but was met with hate from the crowd.
"'You're all sick', ironic coming from you of all people. But don't worry, soon you'll be free" -
The guards prepared to shoot, but before they could do so, small magic bursts pierced their heads, making them fall to the ground.
This caused the crowd to become total chaos, as people started to run away thinking that they were being attacked. The governor called for more soldiers to come and protect the Fortress, and told them to "Bring the beasts".
Using this distraction, the Servants retreated and escaped to the outside of Shiva Fortress. They wanted to save those that had been captured by the guards, but they lost them amongst the confusion.
"Alright, who did that?" - Mash asked once they were far enough away from the city.
"That would be me, no need to thank" - Calamity Jane said as she spinned her gun in her hand - "I wasn't going to let him kill those guys" -
"Seeing them all talking about that woman Shirona, cheering for the death of those who oppose her… Just what the hell did she do here?" - Skadi said as she tried to think about what had happened.
"I did what had to be done" -
