Dad and me were sitting out on the front porch together.
I handed the picture of Zeek to him.
"Oh, my God."
"He looks just like you."
"Yeah. I was just gonna say he's beautiful."
I laughed.
"Yeah!"
Dad laughed.
"Oh, my God."
"Zeek?" He questioned.
"Yeah."
"Oh, my."
"Yeah. She's doing great. He's sleeping too, so-"
"He does take after me."
I laughed.
"Yeah."
"Go to nap."
"Go to sleep anywhere, anytime."
Dad nodded his head.
I smiled at him.
"Have I- Have I ever told you that you're my favorite?" Dad questioned.
"Dad. Come on."
"I think instinctively you must know."
"I mean, it's-"
"Well, you've gotten away with everything!" He pointed out.
I laughed.
"Dad. You don't have to say that."
"You're my little girl."
"Mm."
"Who's getting married."
I smiled.
"Again." I added.
"You know, Hank came to see me to ask for my blessing." Dad informed.
"Aw. So old-fashioned."
"Yeah. Well, he happens to be the only one that's done that. Joel didn't even do it." He pointed out.
"You're kidding!"
"No. And he did. He- He asked for my blessing."
"He respects you, Dad. He likes you."
"And I like him. I think he's- I think he's the guy, Sarah."
"You know, I don't think I would have ever found him- Um- If you hadn't let me come home and stay here for awhile. It just changed everything. Thank you." I thanked Dad.
"Yeah." He replied.
"Have I been a good father?" Dad questioned.
Tears appeared in my eyes.
"The very best."
He nodded his head.
I put my hand in Dad's.
