Will this chapter be up on time or will it be another month? I don't know ¯\_()_/¯

I write these before the chapter anyways.

Here's Le chapter 10. The big one oh. The big chungus of chapters.

Chapter 10, Mission Swimpossible.

"You coming?"

"Yeah yeah yeah… I am."

It had been a week since Avas parents had come up for her hatch day, and the two of them had gotten back into daily jobs, albeit with the colder winter weather. As they ran across the square, all the two Eevee could think about was getting home that evening and spending time with each other.

As they entered the fireplace warmed cabin, and walked up to Neo, she eyed them, and dug through a pile of papers, handing them one psychically.

"Okay you two, this job is going to be longer than a single day."

"What do you mean?" Ian asked curiously.

"I mean you two are doing your first job across multiple days, and your second joint mission.

"Wow!" Ava exclaimed.

"Your mission is to scout out the northwestern coast. Its a day travel there, and you are to spend a maximum of three days there scouting the beach and the surrounding tropical forest. Once you are done, you are expected to be back by the end of the week, before rescue missions get sent out. Seeing as its entirely uncivilized up there, you must be careful, and vigilant." Neo took a breath.

"Lastly, the team you will be working with will again be Team Crossfire, considering you had handled your last mission with them incredibly maturely. Sound good?"

"Sure."

"Get going then. You have 2 hours to prepare. After you're ready, let me or nova know you're leaving, and then you can go." Neo concluded, turning her attention to a pile of papers.

The two Eevee left, and headed out to the village center.

"So, we gotta pack for a week then?" Ian asked

"Yep. Thank Arceus dad gave me his old bag."

"You wanna get the items, and I'll go find Edison and Kelvin then?"

"Sure."

Ian headed off to the southeast area of the village, while ava headed back to their cabin.

Ian entered the small circle of cabins to the southeast of the square, near the main entrance, and looked around for another pair of Eevee, which he eventually found, exiting one of the houses. He walked up to them.

"Hey, you two, we have another split mission," He announced.

"Another one? Sigh… where to?" Edison asked.

"Neo told me it was the northwest coast of the continent. I'm pretty sure the weather up there is tropical, so it'll be a nice escape from the coming winter. We'll be up there for… a week."

"A week?!" Kelvin yelled. "You have to be shitting me."

"I'm not. We have 2 hours before we have to leave." Ian said. "I guess go talk to Neo if you have any problems. Meet me and Ava at the the fountain in an hour and a half?"

"Sigh… sure." Kelvin headed back into the cabin he came out of, grumbling, while Edison followed him in.

Meanwhile, at team Supernovas cabin, Ava had been going nuts, packing all of the pairs best gear.

'I gotta bring a bunch of Orans, and some Chestos, and the Sitrus… OOH, my scarf!' She promptly grabbed the pink scarf off the table in the corner, and strung it around her neck fluff. 'Perfect.'

Ava proceeded to sling the bag around her shoulder, and quickly rushed out the door, although, had she forgotten something?

'Probably not.' She thought, dashing out of the house towards the central icy rock fountain.

'No ones here yet…' to kill time, Ava poked around and observed the carved fountain.

It was made into a dual statue of 2 Pokémon, Umbreon and Espeon, carved from the icy rock. The lower part resembled cold blue stone while the part where flowing water would be if it were summer was spouting out the 3 tail ends of the Pokémon. It was quite elegant.

'You know, aren't these rocks usable to evolve to Glaceon?' She thought, as she looked it over. It sure felt that way, an unearthly feeling emanating off the rock.

"Hey, I'm back," Ian said suddenly, startling Ava, who had been busy analyzing the statue. "Crossfire should be ready to go soon."

"Okay."

Ian sat down next to Ava on the side of the statue, and looked at it too.

"So, Ava, here's a question, of the eight evolutions for Eevee, or 'Eeveelutions,'" Ian asked, "what one do you want to be when you get older?"

"I don't know. I like all of them. I don't really have a preference honestly. Except maybe not Jolteon, since I don't want to be like my mom too much. What about you?"

"I… don't know. I never gave it any thought, though i guess one day I'll have to choose." Ian explained. "Jolteon or Umbreon would be cool, honestly. Flareon would be warm, Vaporeon would make stealth super easy, Espeon i get telekinesis, etc. There's a lot of options."

"Right?" Ava turned to see team crossfire heading towards them. "Hey what about you two? What are you planning on evolving into?" Ava asked the duo.

"Anything really. Except Sylveon." Edison said.

"Glaceon. I came here to become a Glaceon first and foremost, and that's what I'm gonna do." Kelvin explained. "Anyways, you two ready to leave?"

"Yep!" Ava squeaked, standing up and walking over to team crossfire. "lets go!"

Ian followed suit, and quickly joined her, and the 4 Eevee set off.

"Hey guys, lets check the mission board first. there might be something we can do along the way." Ian suggested, running over to where the bard stood.

there wasn't much there, but there was one notable outlier. a mission, telling about John Flareon needing rescuing.

"Jey guys, what happened to John?" Ian asked, as he saw the mission. "it says here he went missing a couple days ago west of the village."

"Well lets take it then." Kelvin said, ripping the mission off and putting it in his bag. "if we see the guy, then we can help him out."

"sounds good to me then." Ian said, as the 4 Eevee set off to the west.

many hours later, the 4 stumbled across what appeared to be a crossroads. "Hey guys, I think this crossroads leads to where me and Ava found Tenpepper about a month ago." Ian said, warily looking down the muddy pathway.

"And? does it really matter? we need to get going if we're going to reach the coast by tomorrow." Edison scolded, going the opposite way. "Come on, lets move it."

Ian huffed, and followed, an unnoticeable growl coming from him. 'Why is he such an asshole still? we saved his stupid hide from death by Beartic and all he does is berate us… god. when i get back, I'm going to spend some time in the hot springs.' the former human though, following his peers farther down the path.

hours later as the sun began to set, the 4 came to the edge of the large forest surrounding frosted mountain. from here, it was a straight field for a while until eventually, it would pan down towards the beach. the weather was much warmer here, inexplicably.

'Shouldn't it be colder? since its a far northern ocean in November? weird…' Ian thought as they began to set down a small tent.

"You guys okay if I start a fire?" Ian asked, after they were otherwise set up.

"Nah, I'm tired as void, night you guys." Edison ducked into his tent, quickly followed by Kelvin.

They were simple pop ups sold by the Kecleon brothers for 100 poke for 2, and both teams had gotten them.

as Ian headed into his tent, he stopped. "Psst, hey ava, what did he mean by 'tired as void?'"

"Its a phrase used usually for exaggeration. the underworld, known as the Voidlands. they say those who lived poor or neutral lives have their soul get put there after death, and unless Xerneas or Yveltal see fit to revive you, you stay there. after enough time there, you lose yourself, and and become another aimless spirit wandering. its honestly pretty terrifying, imagine losing your identity as a wandering soul…" A va shivered. 'There's even been explorers of it. as recently as 6 years ago, during the Dark Matter crisis, most of the water continent got turned to stone, and was sent there… the human, Churchill Lucario and his partner Fen, who turned out to be Mew, survived because of the two legendary dogs and Mawile of the Expedition Societys sacrifice."

"Wow. were you there?" 'Lines up with the game... Ithink... its hard to remember though.'

"No, but Mom and Dad went out to fight the void shadows during the crisis. I was only 9 after all. what intrigues me is the Mawile though. she was the only survivor besides legendaries or humans. I wonder why?"

"Neats me. also, Ava, thanks for clarifying. goodnight."

"No problem. and, goodnight."

as Ian fell off to sleep, he had nightmares. the Voidlands, and losing his identity. it seemed awfully similar to what was happening now. there was one thing he had forgotten, however.

His journal.

Mystery Jungle.

A portal opened deep in a small clearing in the jungle, and a Mew flew out, disgruntled. It had taken over a month to help Necrozma, and the entire time he had belittled the psychic cat.

'So what if I was late? I got sidetracked… fucking… grr…' Mew was angry. She generally was, especially after the personality of Fen had been removed from her. It left her constantly angry and on edge.

'You know, that fucking human I tossed onto the mist continent better be damn happy I saved his life.' She thought, closing the portal behind her and checking the small yellow chest.

'Still there. Nobody took the grass harmonica while I was gone. Good.' She settled into a light sleep, waiting for the time someone would need her.

Far northwest Mist Continent, the next day.

As the four Eevee got out of their tents, they were hit by a fierce wind. It was overcast, with volatile wind.

"Hey guys? I think its gonna rain!" Ian called through the wind. "We should probably get going!"

They could all tell it was true, and quickly packed up their tents, and headed off.

There was no trail here, just an endless field of tall flowing grass, with occasional trees or rocks.

"Ugh, I hope we get there soon. This weather hasn't gotten any better." Edison complained as they walked.

"Well it wont get better with you complaining." Ava stated

"Doesn't mean i have to like it." He countered.

"Guys, can you just… stop? We're almost there." Ian said

Sure enough, about fifteen minutes later, the four stumbled across a small drop off, which lead to a large sprawling beach. On the right side, a cave could be seen.

Kelvin ran down, and quickly started towards the cave. "C'mon, guys. We may as well start now." He said

"You know, it looks kind of like the beach cave near my hometown." Ava said, as the four approached.

"I hope its not too long, or even better, not a dungeon." Ian said, as they entered.

The 4 of them were hit with the all too familiar wave of vertigo upon entering. Turning around revealed the entrance was gone as well.

"Ugh, it stinks in here, like salt and dead fish!" Ian said, as he started down the cave. "I really hope it's short…"

As the four walked, the stench never changed, and it was still quite cold inside. The walls glistened with salt water, occasional pools, and despite the lack of light sources, everyone could inexplicably see perfectly fine.

The pools were very dark, with light only penetrating about 2 feet down. The depth was unknown in them.

A cold breeze blew through the cavern, ruffling everyone's fur. It came from in front of them.

Eventually they came across a split. "Which way do you guys suggest we go?" Ian asked.

"You follow the wind. Go left if the wind is from there, and right if there. Simple." kelvin explained, walking close to both exits. He felt them, before deciding. "Right."

As everyone followed, Ava noticed something in one of the pools. A small tuft of dark orange fur floating in the salty water. She ignored it. 'Probably one of the ferals' she thought.

Eventually, something appeared. A pink Gastrodon burst out of the wall, deep into battle with a blue Gastrodon. In the fighting, both of them didn't see the four Eevee.

"WHOA… kay… um… just… let it pass by…" Ava said, watching the gastrodon battle each other fiercely.

As the two teams crossed by them, a stray water gun hit Ian. "Son of a bitch!" he glared at the Gastrodon, but continued to walk by slowly.

Eventually they got far enough away. "Thank god we didn-" Ian was cut off by a rogue hydro pump hitting him in his midsection into the wall. He was out cold.

"Shit!" Edison yelled, quickly turning around, and running towards the 2 Gastrodon.

Ava sighed, and went over to check on Ian, while kelvin dashed over to help Edison.

"Shit…" ava dug through her pouch for an Oran berry, and eventually got one, quickly feeding it to Ian

Over where team crossfire was, the pink Gastrodon had won, and now turned on the 2 Eevee. "Ready?" Kelvin asked

"Ready." Edison replied. Kelvin quickly dashed around the Gastrodon, while Edison tackled it from the front. It fired off a bubble beam at Edison, but ignored Kelvin, who tackled it from the back, and began swiping at it with his claws.

It screeched, and spun around to see what attacked it, but Kelvin held onto it. Edison quickly stood up again, and shot a shadow ball at the ground type, knocking it out. It wasn't particularly difficult since it was still injured from the blue one.

Ian began to wake up, slightly confused. "Hrng… was i knocked out?"

"Yeah, are you okay?" Ava asked, quite concerned.

"I think so." he stood up, and got a look around. Edison and Kelvin were celebrating their victory, and Ava was checking him over for injuries. He blushed a little bit. "Thanks for helping me."

"No problem. Are you good to go?"

"Yeah." Ian stood up, and turned to tell Edison and Kelvin to get ready to leave. "Uh guys… turn around."

"Huh?" Kelvin turned around, only to barely dodge a fireball being sent at him. "What the hell!?"

A dripping wet Flareon was walking towards them, angrily snorting. It fired another fireball at the 4, who all dodged. "Is that john?!" Ian said.

"Looks like it!" Ava called. She and Edison flanked, while Ian and Kelvin took stances next to each other. "Okay, so we gotta distract him, and knock him out, okay?" Ian said.

"I know how to do a rescue." Kelvin responded, dodging a fireball that was shot at him.

"Wasn't he in town, like, last week?!" Ian asked

"Yeah, dungeons can seriously fuck you up if you aren't prepared! You'll go nuts within hours if you're alone!"

Ava took the chance, and pounced on johns back while he was busy firing fireballs at the other 2, and bashed him over the head with her forepaws. Edison had done the same, and it quickly rendered the soggy Flareon unconscious.

Ian sighed. "Good job you guys. I guess we gotta carry his salty ass out of here now?"

"Yep." kelvin and Edison worked together to hoist him up. "We should be able to go now. Once he wakes up, he wont be aggressive anymore, but probably still feral." Edison explained. "Lead the way."

Ava did just that, and the 4 of them eventually got to the exit about fifteen minutes later.

"Well that went well" Kelvin said, he and Edison dumping the Flareon on the sand.

The sun was getting low into the sky. It was already late afternoon.

"It's pretty late. We might wanna set up base camp soon." Edison suggested.

"Yeah. but first… can we go swimming?" Ian asked

"If you wanna go swimming, we aint setting up your tent for you 2." both members of team crossfire started off towards the line between the sand and the grassy field

"Nice! Ava, you wanna join me? I, uh, might need to learn how to swim as an Eevee."

"Sure. and also, if you can walk and run properly, it wont be a problem. Race you there!" Ava dashed off towards the water, and dove in.

Ian followed, and splashed in, quickly yelping from the temperature. "Its COLD!"

"What did you expect? It's still the mist continent." Ava said, laughing before splashing him in the face.

Ian shuddered for a moment, before returning the favour. The wave was slightly bigger. A shocked ava stopped laughing.

"Should I have not done that?" Ian asked, suddenly worried.

Ava quickly retaliate by whipping a splash of water at him, and continuing laughing. "You let your guard down!"

As the 2 Eevee kept splashing around in the ocean water, Edison looked on while kelvin set up the tents.

"As much as they might be extremely childish, this is honestly kind of cute." he said. "They clearly like each other, and get along well."

"You took a mature look at that. Look at you, all Mr. Maturity now." Kelvin taunted.

"Yeah, maybe." Edison replied, turning back to the popup tents.

Eventually, the two members of team supernova got out of the water, fur matted and sticky.

"My fur!" Ian complained. "Look at this, it'll never wash out!"

"Its not that bad. It'll be gone by tomorrow. Trust me, I grew up in treasure town. There's a beach there, and Pokémon went swimming there all the time."

"I guess, yeah." he sat on the beach. It was facing west, giving a beautiful sunset.

"This is nice…" Ava commented.

"Yeah…" the sun glistened off the cold blue ocean, creating an effect of a crystalline surface. The sloshing of the waves on the beach was quiet, but there, and created a sense of atmosphere.

A small amount of foam formed as well. It was getting cold out, due to nightfall, and it was causing foam to form. It made popping and crackling noises, accompanying the waves slowly crashing against the shoreline.

The sand and rocks along the beach were untouched, aside from a line of pawprints coming to and from the dungeon. Otherwise, it was smooth duned sand, with the occasional rock.

"Thanks."

"What for?"

"Everything. Ian, the fact that I met you, it allowed me to visit all these beautiful places, explore, save others, stuff i only ever really dreamed of. I never would have been able to do this alone." Ava sighed. "The sights we've seen, and the places we've been, its all because you were there with me."

"I… thank you. So much. I wouldn't have been able to do this by myself either." he laughed dryly a bit. "I would have woken up, confused, and probably starved to death in a couple days without you. So… thank you too." Ian hugged Ava tightly. "You helped keep me sane too. I don't know what I would have done without you here to help me out along the way."

The two kept looking out towards the ocean as the sun set.

"For the future?" Ava proposed.

"What?"

"I mean, for the future, we stay together?"

"Of course. Now, should we get back to base camp?"

"Yep." the two headed back to the tent setup. Edison and kelvin were already asleep in theirs, but had set up Ian and Avas anyways.

"That was nice of the," Ian whispered crawling into his and Avas tent. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Well that was nice and happy… would be a shame if something happened :)

Kidding, I'm not gonna do that… yet. You all have to wait for the haha evil badness haha to come.

Anyways, here's to a good future for team supernova

They'll need it.

As always, make sure you review and stuff, feedback helps a ton. Also, when i update tomorrow, i might go edit some older chapters for grammar and errors and stuff, so if you want, keep that in mind.
