The fox and the dog chapter 5 – game time
this chapter will cover the battles with the gamer and cover 81-84
I will add a few of my own scenes for Towa to play some games as well
Towa pov
it was after meeting with the rest of the group and going into town to get some fresh cloths, we started to talk about what happens next and update the members we hadn't seen lately about the progress of the portal. Then we talked about how they could used Kuwabara's power with Gourmet. Our newest team member then told use that Gourmet could eat people and steal their powers. after that we planned our path into the cave to at least scout ahead before a full-on assault. The last number we were given was two days, but it was likely even less than that due to how fast the portal was growing. I was left behind for now but would join the team later on so I could recover.
Kurama pov
I then went inside the cave with the group with Seaman leading us to the main portal area. on the way I was leaving plants to help us find our way back. it was going through the cave, that we got stopped by a strange door and it didn't take long as we closed in on the door that we learned it was for the game goblin city. Then we soon learned Gamemaster made this part of the cave into goblin city and that we would need seven team members to make it through the next part of the game. I knew we would likely need each member of our team that knew how to play games at all. We then went back to get more members of the team and had the short demon member of the team wait outside while Towa took his place to play the game.
Towa pov
It was getting into the game area; we came up strategies and learned that Yusuke was the worst at the game of all of us. with Yana being worst that I was and Genkai being shockingly good at the came with the two-super genius of Kaito and Kurama winning most of the time. But we could only guess how good gamemaster really was.
For the first game was tennis and we had Seaman play. he did so as the goblin king tried to taunt him. but in the end our team won the first game. The next game was a flight shooter and Genkai choose to play on for our team and revealed she was an expert at that style of game. Then showed us just how good she was by doing all kinds of crazy tricks. The next game that came up was a fighting game and Yusuke played for us it that one. But the boy showed his battle prowess and won the game with ease. With that we prepared to face the gamemaster himself.
The first game that came up was a real time strategy and with I decided to take that game. my foxy boyfriend warmed me how dangerous this boy likely was and through playing him and seeing how easy his army overwhelmed mine through pure strategy I learned how good he was. that left our next player being Kaito and he had to play him in a quiz game. it seemed like the young boy was giving Kaito a handicap by letting him be able to do the first five questions. The on those questions Kaito showed just how much he knew through the first five and was able to guess each with only one line of each question.
But at question five the gamemaster showed he was even better that Kaito and that he even knew the questions in order based on the first five shown. That lead to the young boy dominating Kaito. Then Kaito tried with random guesses to defeat gamemaster but still lost and that left Kurama to have to bring the boy down. it was after that Kurama figured Sensui's true plan for this boy and that it was to keep us trapped until gate was complete. but the boy pulled the level for the game, I say something in his eye like he knew even more about Sensui's plan as in there were two layers to it.
It was when Yusuke talked to the Kurama about winning, I heard sadness in my boyfriend's voice as in he knew we needed to win but didn't completely want to win. it was then I started to remember what happened when I won the game. it was then Yusuke asked what happened if we won and then Kurama let the dark-haired boy know that the gamemaster would like the goblin king does. The game was a puzzle game much like Tetris but with numbers to make it more complex. But before the game started Kurama started his own mind games with the boy by making him question the former spirit detective's motives and what would happen if he lost the game.
When the game started, I could tell the young boy was clearly shaken. As the game went on Genkai revealed Sensui wanted to test us on a moral level just as much as keeping us busy and that Kurama knew he was going to have to win and kill the boy. He also did it to shake the boy's resolve and make it easier for himself to win. I could see the boy start to make mistakes as he thought about that the fact he would die and that Sensui was using him. it was as the boy began to struggle, Kurama asked him if there was way to cancel out his territory but when the boy said no, the red-haired older boy seemed to be willing to let him die if need be. It was just sad to see the boy struggle and say I don't want to die as the blocks began to stack up. it was after that we then saw the boy die as his territory fell to pieces. It was as we walked to the main tunnel, I wanted to give the red-haired boy a hug but I knew we just needed to move before it was too late.
It was soon as we made it into the main chamber, we found all we were looking for along with a portal about to burst with demons. As well as Sensui siting and watching what had to be chapter black.
Kurama pov
As we entered the chamber, I wasn't happy about the former spirit detective forcing me to have to kill that child. But I knew it had to be done. What made me even angrier was Sensui talking about the stuff on chapter black like it was nothing. But he also mentioned the tunnel was about to open anytime now. Our friend was in a boat while demons declared as C-class tore at Kuwabara. But the one that forced them off the orange haired boy was Sensui himself, he said the demons had to wait. The former detective then tried to debate with us but Yusuke didn't want to do such.
It was after that, he called out Gourmet and made us kill him to get Kuwabara back. keeping my cool as much as possible, I prepared to do something. It was then the so-called Gourmet started to talk about what was on our minds and with that Yusuke figured he devoured out mind reading friend. What my friends didn't know was that he could only read my surface thoughts as I was able to quickly use my rose whip to remove the man's head and that seemed to kill him.
But in the next Instant Kurama mentioned about a stench as the laugh of the elder Toguro came from the open head. Then out of it formed the neck of gourmet. Then the elder revealed that he survived the last attacks and that Sensui helped him out. then he revealed that Sensui planned to use the gourmet to regrow the elder. He then laughed until I got annoyed and prepared to kill the man turned demon. He then attacked me, but I held him off with mist from flowers I grew.
Towa pov
I then watched as the mist spread and the elder began to talk and that was all about what he planned to do. All I heard from the mist was the demon scream from attacks and laughing with insanity. It wasn't much longer that my red hair lover came out of the mist and as it faded, I saw a tree covering the elder that Kurama revealed was the sinning tree. He then revealed the tree would suck away the elder's life forever and he would be left in a point of eternal suffering. But we know had to deal with treats of the last two members of the seven and before the gate could fully open.
Chapter end
The next chapter cover the clash between two spirit detectives as the team learns the true power of the man called dark angel
But first Mashiro will have to help Toma deal with the treat of evil magicians that seek the power of vampires
