"Get down." Lois exclaimed.

"I don't think so. I don't know what mother was thinking."

"Get down or I'll come up."

"No!"

"Come on, farm boy."

"Okay, but I swear, if you laugh..."

"I won't."

"Or tease or mock or..."

"Get down!"

"Okay." He went down the stairs hesitantly and with distinct reluctance.

Lois didn't know what she was expecting exactly. She knew he had an amazing body and that the suit would stick to him like a second skin, but...she didn't expect it. Martha Kent definitely outdid herself. Clark in a suit left her speechless. He looks...not exactly taller. More impressive. The suit radiated charisma in every direction like a lamp in the dark. He was like a beam of pure light in a dark world. And if before he was handsome as only a dork like him could be, now he was sexy and Greek God but in a sophisticated and elegant way and not like an anvil that falls on your head even if he moved from foot to foot like a small child. Lois' gaze rose back up before him. He looked at her awkwardly.

"Turn around." There's no way she'll be able to form an articulate thought now. "Wow!"

"I look like a refugee from a circus."

"What? No way!"

He nervously slid his hand down the front of the suit then realized where his hand was and placed it on his waist then crossed his arms over his chest. Only to slide them over the robe and then place them on his waist again. Lois approached him and stroked the S.

"You look amazing."

"Really?"

"And no one will laugh at you." She stood on tiptoe and kissed him, and he immediately supported her. "You look amazing because you are amazing."

"And the cloak and all, isn't that too much?"

"It's just right. Perfect. Super."

"Clark?"

"Hmmm?" She snuggled closer to him. They were sitting on the sofa at the farm watching a not very interesting action movie and munching on popcorn.

"What exactly happened between you and Chloe today?" He glanced at her.

"Why are you asking?"

"Because you seem upset, and she's been your best friend for years and… you know." He took some of the popcorn and didn't say a word for a few minutes.

"I never liked the fact that she knew the truth about me. That secret always changed people, usually for the worse."

"Oh, come on. You're exaggerating."

"No, no, I don't think so. Kryptonite and Kryptonians didn't really make Earth a better place."

"Except you." He was silent. "Clark?" She put the popcorn on the table and turned to him. He looked at her and then rolled his eyes.

"Almost everyone infected with Kryptonite goes crazy or becomes homicidal, or both. And there were two meteor showers, and if you can say the first one wasn't my fault, the second one definitely was. Pete was caught by FBI agents who wanted to find out the truth about me. Alicia was murdered because of the meteors."

"Alicia was murdered because the guy was crazy, not because of you!"

"He was meteors infected, he believed the meteors brought evil to Smallville and I can't argue with that. Chloe found out the truth and tried to support me, but she kind of gave up her life at one point and I let her do it. She was the only person I could talk to freely about everything except my parents." He was silent for a moment. Lois took hold of his hand resting on her shoulder. She was about to say something when he continued. "But when I think about it... the only person who not only knew me but understood me was you."

"I was?"

"You didn't know the truth, but somehow you always managed to poke your nose into my business and tell me exactly what I needed to hear."

"Well, I'm amazing. It's not exactly a well-kept secret." He smirked.

"Chloe… all she saw was what I was capable of, she always pushed me to be who she thought I should be. You, on the other hand… you always see who I am. Shortcomings and all."

"There are also many advantages, Smallville." He smiled at her.

"You always pushed me to grow up. You didn't build an image around who you wanted me to be, but you saw the person inside, the one who was going to come out when I grew up and whom you loved... You may not have loved him, but you liked him. You wanted me to see him too. That weekend, When I told you I was leaving you told me you thought I loved the man I was going to be."

"I remember. And was I right?" He smiled at her.

"Yes."

"You see! That's a lesson for you, Smallville. I'm always right!" He chuckled. She kissed his cheek.

"This morning when I went to talk to Chloe, she kept me waiting in the waiting room..."

"Yeah, it's an annoying new habit she's developed."

"And I don't usually do things like that, but I listened to her. She talked to Oliver and said things that made it clear to me that she thinks I'm definitely an asset to her organization but it's going to take a lot of work and effort on her part to get me in line." Lois looked at him. "she said I'm bad at taking instructions, which is pretty true, and that as soon as there's a girl around, namely Lana Lang, I lose concentration and that she doesn't have the time or patience to deal with me and my problems right now. She also said something about not having time to hold my hand in time that I learn how things work."

"Damn, that's cold and wrong."

"Part of it is true."

"You're not stupid. Maybe you used to lose your concentration when Lana was around but not at other people's expense." He looked at her intently.

"I do not..."

"The same year Lana married Lex." Lois straightened up and looked at him, fire in her eyes, "When Linda Lake came out with that gossip column. I came to you with a legitimate problem, and never mind that you later cheated on me with Oliver, you did everything to help."

"I didn't cheat on you!" She kissed him on the lips.

"I can take care of myself, Smallville!"

"Aha. You took very good care of yourself when the man from the security company tried to drown you with your hands tied behind your back."

"Clark!" He looked at her quietly, his eyebrow raised. "Well, fine, ok. It was so long ago that I'll let it go just this once. But no more secrets, Smallville!"

"I don't..." she glared at him. "Lo, I'll tell you everything you want to know, everything there is to tell about me, but as soon as it's about other people, I have to get their permission first. But I promise not to work against you anymore. You're my first partner."

"You worked with Chloe before!"

"It wasn't a collaboration. When we worked together, she gave instructions and I followed. I hope you and I will think about things together, work together as journalists and as a couple?" She bit her bottom lip and looked at him hesitantly. He caressed her face. "I will not abandon you or take advantage of you. I trust you and your judgment but most of all, I trust your heart." He kissed her softly. She snuggled up next to him again and he was silent, knowing she needed time to digest everything and satisfied that she didn't run away from him.

"I..." He was silent, waiting. "I'm afraid from what this will lead to. Right now, I feel betrayed and alone in front of the world but when the morning comes tomorrow... I don't know what will happen and I don't want to lose you. You are my best friend."

"I don't want to lose you either. We can take our time, move slowly, build our bond. We never jumped right into the deep water. From the first moment..." she giggled, and he smiled. "Well, more from the cemetery we advanced slowly and carefully and if that's what you want that's what we'll do." She took his hand on his leg and placed it on her shoulders. Clark got the hint and pulled Lois closer to him.

"I can live with that."

"These trainings kind of isolated me from people and the world and I need to get used to it."

"What about Lana? What if Lana suddenly appearing and..." she trailed off.

"Lois, the way she ended the relationship was..."

"Unilateral."

"Yes. But you don't have to worry. I've had time to think and digest and grieve and come to terms with everything that happened. I know what I want, I know what I need and it's not Lana anymore. I don't think it was ever Lana. And if she comes back?" He shrugged. "We'll probably talk but I have no intention of going back to her, Lois. I'm happy right where I am."

"Ok."

"I prefer a Harley to a bicycle." He kissed her head. It took Lois a moment to remember and then she blushed and hugged him tightly.

"It's a boring movie." She whispered after a while, "But he's perfect."

"Oh?" He looked at her, but she had already fallen asleep.
