Love and Consequences
Ethan had left the children in their room until supper, and with Alec's help, he had nailed planks to secure the hole and the floor.
"Kids, come and have dinner, then we'll talk!" Ethan informed them.
The meal was very quiet, you could hear a fly flying!
"The little ones you clean and wipe the table, the big ones wash and dry the dishes." Ethan ordered.
All obeyed without arguing.
Then the fateful moment arrived.
"Everyone come and sit around the table." Ethan ordered sternly.
The three adults dominated, standing with their arms crossed. Ethan had stipulated that posture was important.
"Look at me!" Ethan ordered sternly! The man waited for them to obey.
"Tom, your father and you will be staying with us next week. You will obey the punishment along with everyone else! You all did a lot of stupid things! I never thought you would challenge me so much! My answer will be severe!"
Stopping to make sure he still had the children's attention, he then continued.
"You are all grounded this weekend and all of next week! You go to school and come home immediately afterwards! During this time you will perform all inside and outside tasks; meals, dishes, laundry, ironing, floors, beds ... everything Amelia has done all this week alone! It's only fair that she has a week of complete rest! You will go to bed immediately after dinner. If I hear a single complaint, it's an immediate spanking! Am I perfectly clear?" Ethan asked sternly.

"Also for your defiance put yourselves in danger, you're all getting a spanking! You older kids will receive half your age with my belt! I am strict, but I never want such disobedience again!

"Tom, we told you he would find a way!" "Said Claire before leaving the room.

Ten minutes later, nine kids wearing pink union suits were back.
"I NEVER WANT SUCH DISOBEDIENCE AND LACK OF RESPECT AGAIN!, ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM AWAY!" Ethan declared firmly.
"Tom, first you are over your father's lap, we'll share your punishment."
Ethan, retrieved the wooden spoon from the kitchen drawer and gently removed his belt from the loops in his pants. Alec also took off his belt, and sat down on a chair.
"I want everyone to be standing in front of me!" Ethan ordered. All obeyed.
"I AM YOUR FATHER! YOU WILL OBEY AND YOU WILL NOT DEFY ME! THE UPSTAIRS IS FORBIDDEN FOR ONE REASON! IT IS DANGEROUS! YOU MAY ALL HAVE BEEN HURT! ADAM NEARLY WAS!"

"Sorry Pa! Oh! Ho!" Adam said, not noticing the name he had called Ethan, but the man had heard.
"Tom, on my knee! I made you a promise of what would happen if you disobeyed!" Ethan said before he lowered his belt three times, as hard as with Adam. The child already had his butt burned by his father. He was screaming and squirming but Ethan was holding him tight!

All weekend, Ethan, Amelia and Alec rested quietly, while the children worked.
"It's not fair! They don't do anything at all!" Complained Joseph.
"This is the purpose of the punishment!" Adam replied.

"You're the one who does the least! In the afternoon Pa lets you sleep and we still have to work!" Ben responded.

Ethan also had a discussion with his elder children about the cabin.

If you had hurt yourself there-, no one could help. Do you hear me? So, I'm giving you permission to go, but not behind my back! You'll ask permission from your parents every time! You sneak around again and you will be punished! Got it?"

Ethan, Dakota, Tim and Alec began work on the floor. They were done fixing and securing the floor in two days. The men were able to work quickly because the children did all the chores!
The week was over, Judge Williams and Tom would leave the next day.
"Ethan, I wrote the adoption papers, I changed your children's last names to Cord. I think they will be happy to have your name! It was also their mother's birth name."
"Yes thank you Alec! They will be delighted!"
"I have another surprise, if you sign this you will be legally married. You will have the church wedding to organize but legally Ethan you adopt Amelia's children and vice versa. If something happens to one of you, the house, accounts, everything you own will belong to each other. There was Claire's name on your account too, Ethan. I left it, edited in Cord, if something happened to you two, it is Claire who would manage, as you seem to have chosen."
"Yes, thank you Alec, that's a promise I made to Claire!"
"I left Lawson's name with your children Amelia, but I added Cord. They can choose one, the other, or both. All you have to do is send the papers back to me and I will change them. It's a bit early so that they may not want the Cord name now but it will come, believe me! I have seen a lot of adoptions and eventually all children want to bear their new father's name!"
"Thanks Alec! I didn't know it was possible, but you changed our lives in ten minutes!" Ethan said.
"Ethan, you changed mine in a week! I owe you this! A friend who is a judge, that's luck! It can all be kept a secret until your church wedding, you know!, No problem and you write to me! I'll always be there for you Ethan!"
"Thanks Alec, it's the same with you!"
The following weekend, in early December, Ethan finally organized his surprise for Amelia.
He had gone to the school explaining to the children that he was taking Amelia tonight and that Mary and Dakota would babysit them.
"If Dakota has to punish or spank you, you'll get double from me! Understood?"

When he opened the door, it was wonderful! Marie had prepared a warm and cozy bed with animal skins, red rose petals on the floor, a table with coffee, tea and a picnic.
"Ethan? I love you!" She said clinging to his neck!

"Oh Ethan! Am I dreaming?"
Ethan laughed! And he kissed her passionately! By removing his shirt, the effect was immediate, she snuggled up against his chest! She undid his belt, she had waited so long for this moment! Ethan also gently unfastened her dress.
Then he carried her to the bed and they loved each other, their loves were exceptional! Amelia was trembling with happiness in his arms.

All night long, they loved each other, several times!

When they woke up Amelia asked him to love her again, they did it a few more times, always with the same intensity!
Then at the end of the morning, they got up, straightened the house, washed the blankets.
Suddenly, Amelia was thrown into his arms!
"Thank you my love! It was unimaginable! Even in my wildest dreams, I never imagined loving you so much! You are my God!" Amelia repeated.
Ethan laughed! "Yes I know!" He said teasingly.
"How am I going to wait until next time now?"
"Don't worry, we should finish building the rooms quickly now! Probably next week."
"It's so long!"
"For me too my love! I will do it as soon as possible, I promise you! A little patience and we can love each other every night, several times for the rest of our lives!"
They both thanked Dakota and Marie for their kindness, telling them it was perfect!
The kids behaved very well! Ethan felt he must have left a big impression after their upstairs debacle.
