Chapter 5:
Lunch Break-
3rd Person POV:
Hikigaya, Zaimokuza, and Hiratsuka are walking down the hallways with Hiratsuka in the lead.
After some more walking, Hiratsuka stopped in front of a room, causing Hikigaya and Zaimokuza to stop too.
"Ok, this room will be the meeting place of Astronomical Super Supreme Level 10 club, A.S.S Lvl 10 club for short!" she then opened the door and entered, the two followed her and started to check out the room.
It's a medium sized room, it has a lot of windows allowing the cool breeze of air to enter, it also has a lot of tables and chairs stacked up in the other side of the room. In other words, the room is bland and is being used as a storage space.
"Pretty neat right? It's so empty we can decorate this room to our liking!" Hiratsuka said.
"It's bland and really far from our room" Zaimokuza complained.
"Yeah, the only good thing in this room is that it has a lot of windows that can catch the sea breeze every afternoon" Hikigaya added.
"Can you two at least pretend to be grateful? I turned down a more respectable and polite student for you guys! Don't make me regret it OK!" Hiratsuka retorted.
Zaimokuza then grabbed a chair and a table and seated on it, he has taken out his lunch box and putted it on the table, after that, he looked at the two then declared "This place will be the new capital of Zaimokuza Empire!".
Zaimokuza is sitting beside the stack of chairs and tables.
"Ok, I'll set up my kingdom too!" Hiratsuka said as she walks towards the stack of chairs and tables.
She grabbed a chair and a table, then positioned it beside the windows, she then declared "This is the Hiratsuka Kingdom!" as she sit in her chair.
Hikigaya also did the same but positioned his chair and table beside the door, after sitting he grabbed his soba pan from his pocket.
"We should also add some characteristic in our territories!" Zaimokuza said.
"Ok, I'll start, The Hiratsuka kingdom can control the weather in this realm" Hiratsuka said as she points her finger at the windows then looked at Zaimokuza with a smug.
"Ohh that's good, but thats nothing! The Zaimokuza empire has monopoly in advanced technologies! We can build a fortress everywhere in this realm! GHAHAHA!" Zaimokuza said as he points his finger at the stack of chairs and tables beside his seat.
"You're kingdom and empire are both weak! The Hikigaya clan has the ability to manipulate time and space!" Hikigaya said as he points his finger at the door, he then added "Since I'm the club president, I'm the one who decides to dismiss the club activities and are free to go out of the clubroom during it's sessions!".
"Let's also draw some borders on the floor!" Hiratsuka said as she takes out a chalk from the pocket of her lab coat.
They made an agreement.
"Ok,to make our world not boring, we'll unequaly divide the borders." Hikigaya said.
"Since I control an Empire, I should have the largest territory" Zaimokuza said, the two agreed.
"Ok, since I control a Kingdom and Hikigaya only leads a clan, I should have the 2nd largest territory while Hikigaya's territory will be the smallest" Hiratsuka said.
"Ok then, Hiratsuka-sensei, please draw the borders" Hikigaya requested.
They divided the room by drawing lines with a chalk in the floor. Zaimokuza controls the 50% of the room, while Hiratsuka has the 35% of it, while Hikigaya is left with 15% of the room.
Zaimokuza and Hiratsuka smiled devilishly at Hikigaya.
"Come on Hikigaya, let me conquer you and be part of the Hiratsuka kingdom... I'll make sure you'll benefit from my authority in the windows! We can toast the Zaimokuza Empire together by closing all the windows in his side of the room!" Hiratsuka said.
"I'll let you know that I can build a wall of tables to cut you off from the windows at my territories, meaning that you'll lose your authority on them Hiratsuka-sensei! Hikigaya! Be my comrade and let's conquer the arrogant Hiratsuka kingdom!" Zaimokuza declared.
"How about we all declare world peace? It's lunch break you know, let's just eat" Hikigaya suggested.
Hiratsuka stood up and started to walk towards the door "I'll just get my lunch in the teacher's office".
A minute later-
Hiratsuka happily entered the clubroom with her lunch box in hand but her smile was erased when she saw her kingdom!
Her table and chair is upside down and multiple tables are scattered in her borders!
"Zaimokuza! You destroyed my castle and built fortresses in my lands?" Hiratsuka said in anger.
"Hohoho...It seems like the proud citizens of Hiratsuka kingdom is weak in their leader's absence! My forces easily took down your capital and enslaved your people Hiratsuka-sensei!" Zaimokuza declared.
Hiratsuka smiled then seated at the top of one of Zaimokuza's tables standing in her territory.
"This fortress is mine now" Hiratsuka smiled at Zaimokuza.
Zaimokuza is shocked! "Is it because I lead an empire? My forces are vast and have different opinions, someone are sure to be dissatisfied in my reign and defect to the enemy... Well played Hiratsuka-sensei" Zaimokuza said.
"But I'm not ending it there... After seeing that their allies defected to the enemy, your other forces stationed in my kingdom also started second guessing their leaders and starts to defect to my kingdom!" Hiratsuka said.
"What a terrifying enemy, all you did is returning to your throne and completely switched the tides of war... But your forgetting something Hiratsuka-sensei... I'm an emperor! I have to be terrifying too if I were to rule in a large land!" Zaimokuza declared.
"And what are you gonna do?" Hiratsuka taunted.
"The wives and children of the defected soldiers are still behind my walls! It's either they return to me or their family will suffer from their mistakes!" Zaimokuza said mockingly at Hiratsuka.
"I'll force your forces back to your homeland then! I'll use my authority in weather against your forces!" Hiratsuka quickly stood up and ran towards the windows and closed them.
"There's a reason why this room is designed to have a lot of windows you know?" Hiratsuka smiled with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
The temperature in the room started to rise, Hikigaya who is sitting near the door just opened the door to let some air enter to sooth him then continued to eat his soba pan while Hiratsuka left one window open for her, Zaimokuza is the only one suffering from this heat!
"O-okay... I'll retreat my troops" Zaimokuza said as he ran and took out the tables he encircled in Hiratsuka's territory.
"But I'm not ending it here!" Zaimokuza then took more tables and chairs from the stack and created a line of tables and chairs around his territory. "Zaimokuza's great wall activate!" Zaimokuza declared then ran towards his table and continued to eat his lunch. Satisfied with the result of their war, Hiratsuka started eating he lunch too.
But it seems like that was part of Zaimokuza's plan too! Since he is the first one to eat his lunch, he was the first one to finish too! While his enemy is eating, he quickly ran towards the wall he created with his and Hiratsuka's border. He grabbed one of the chair he used as a wall then pushed it towards Hiratsuka's direction. The chair slid through the room making a screeching sound and hitting Hiratsuka's table making her food spill out of her lunch box.
Hiratsuka didn't like this. She stood up and grabbed something in her pocket... It was the pink wand Hikigaya gave her! The Wand of Thousand Disguises!
The wand glowed and changed Hiratsuka's outfit. She now wears a pink short skirt with frills, a pink blouse with a white bow tie, a pink pair of shoes and knee high with sock, a pair of white gloves and a pink beret with a big pink ribbon in the back.
"Transformation complete! Magical Hiratsuka ready for action!" Hiratsuka shouted then started changing towards the wall of chair and table Zaimokuza has created.
You can describe her as anything but not a cute magical girl as Hiratsuka tear down Zaimokuza's wall of tables and chairs while shouting "YOU WASTED MY LUNCH ZAIMOKUZA! YOU'LL PAY!".
Zaimokuza's survival instincts told him to run, Hiratsuka is between him and the door.
Zaimokuza looked at Hikigaya and pleaded "Hikigaya HELP ME!" which earned a smirk from Hikigaya as a reply.
"Good radiance Zaimokuza" Hikigaya said as he took out another soba pan from his pocket and moved out of the club room.
Hikigaya POV:
I'll let them destroy each other kingdoms first, I have seen their strategies and know what to do but first, I'll eat in peace first, and that's something I can't do in the clubroom right now... I'll eat at the rooftop.
Time skip- At the rooftop's entrance:
I've finally reached the rooftop, whew, why do our clubroom have to be so isolated? As I got closer to the door I noticed that the door is slightly opened... I was curious so I peeked through the gap of the slightly opened door...There is a long haired girl... Sitting on the floor hugging her knees... Oh she stood up... Oh I know her! I saw her once in the hallways! That's Yukinoshita Yukino! The most famous girl in school! Even though this is just my 3rd day in school I already caught a lot of news about her! Apparently she is the little sister of a prodigy student of Soubu and currently the smartest 1st year!
And started jumping and stomping on the floor? Ohhh this girl is raging! Now I'm more curious! What happened to her to make her do this?
"Spirits of the Shadows... Cast your veil upon me... Invisibility" I chanted quietly.
After becoming invisible, I slowly opened the door so it won't make any sound, then walked carefully towards her.
"I can't believe this! Why is my request rejected?" She asked to no one in particular... Oh so the princess didn't got what she wanted... With my first impression about her I expected more... Really? Raging?
I bet the reason of her raging is something useless or trivial.
"My Service club is denied to give way to Manga club?" Ohhh... So we are the reasons... And actually Manga club is just a cover... We're just A.S.S(holes) Lvl 10, we're worse than useless or trivial, she has the right to rage right now.
"I'm sure my Service club is more productive than the Manga club! They would just read manga all day!" Were not even reading anything, we just want some private room to do our shenanigans.
She stopped stomping on the floor.
She grabbed something on her skirt's pocket, it's a mini action figure of a panda that have the same rotten eyes like me?
"Why do things doesn't go always in my favor?" She started talking to the action figure... That's cute! So this is a real life GAP MOE! Can't believe this! The serious Yukinoshita talks to a lifeless toy? (idk some of you readers might have not know but gap moe is a term used when a female character does something out of character in the MC's perspective and is cute for the MC)
"Okaa-san would always ask me to be better, Onee-san would always mess up with me, and Otou-san is always not at home..." Ouch! My parents would ask me to be better too but it's because I really need to, but asking miss perfect to be better? And her sister really doesn't know how to treat imoutos.
Yukinoshita started moving the hand of the mini action of Pan-san, pretending that it's talking back.
"I thought it would be all good now, Otou-san agreed of me living alone, Onee-san doesn't mess up with me as much, and Okaa-san isn't saying anything, the Service Club is supposed to be my first step through independence but I missed it"... Yeah, sorry about that...
She tilted her toy forward, pretending that it's talking...
"You really are my only ally in this world Pan-san!" she looked to her left and right, making sure that no one is looking then... Kiss... Ok that was cute but... WHAT? A lifeless toy can get a kiss from such a beauty but I can't? The only kiss I've got is a kiss in the cheeks from my mom when I was a kid!
Now that you look closer in her face you can see that there are dried out tear under her eyes... The founding of Service club is really a big deal to her huh?... Now I feel so bad!
I want to cheer her up...
3rd Person POV:
Hikigaya slowly walked towards Yukinoshita's back then turned off his invisiblity.
With his left hand he tapped Yukinoshita's left shoulder.
Yukinoshita was surprised and scared by this making her stand and look at her left but she saw no one.
Hikigaya is now on her right side, he tapped her right shoulder this time.
Yukinoshita is surprised once again and quickly turned her head to her right only for her right cheek to be poked by Hikigaya's finger.
Hikigaya POV:
"W-Why are you crying Yukinoshita-san?" I think I should have not done this... What entered my mind? Really? Cheer her up?
Ohh now she's looking angry!... Oh no! Is she gonna-
Wapak! M-my n-nose!
Y-Yeah I deserve that punch.
"Have you ever heard of personal space?" she looked at me like I were the last thing she wanted to look at.
"Ahh sorry... It's just you look so sad so I tried to cheer you up?" Great answer me! A really great answer! Oh no I got to get out of here without being branded a pervert by the queen of the school!
"And what makes you think that would cheer me up?" Absolutely nothing, I just did that on impulse! OK Hachiman, just sincerely apologize and use 1 of your 108 skill, the Ultimate Dogeza! A surefire skill to get my self out of trouble! The only downside of this skill is it loses it's effectiveness if used in the same person repeatedly! Just for the record, Okaa-san is already immune to this.
DOGEEEEZZA!
"I'm really sorry!" this should work!
"Don't you have any self respect?" Of course I have! That's why I'm doing this! My current objective right now is to get out of here while not to be labeled a pervert!
"Can you please stand up? It seems like you are not a pervert, those kind of people only gawks at me at the distance" Ok I'm in the clear! Time to stand up and get out of here!
"That only means your not just a pervert, your a sexual harasser!" What the? Is this woman high or something? I did nothing that warrants that title! All I did is poke her cheek and I'm already regreting that!
"So let's make a deal, none of this happened, you didn't see my ugly display and you didn't touch me" Oh that's why she threatened me, she could have said so.
"Ok you have my word! This thing never happened!" Ok! I'm saved this time.
"But I think it's more healthy to talk to a friend than to talk to a toy" and I just have to open my mouth.
"Can you define what a friend is?" Ok that's a sentence a friendless person would said, she so popular though but back to her question... Zaimokuza comes to mind and surprisingly Totsuka and Hiratsuka-sensei too!
Yukinoshita POV:
Of course this man won't have an answer, I don't mean to be judging but he looks like a man who doesn't have any friends.
He looked at the sky. You won't any answers there.
Now he looked at me in the eye and smiled? H-he looks like Pan-san.
"Friends huh... I don't know if my answer would have any merit listening to since I only got a friend recently but for me as we thread this thing called life, we're bound to meet a lot of people along the way, it's our decision to interact and how to interact with them, some of them may choose a different way than us or it might be us who chose to move away, but one thing's for sure, a friend only becomes a friend if we let them." that was different from the answer I am expecting... I don't even know what answer I was expecting.
"What is your name?" He has got me curious about him.
"Hikigaya Hachiman" Named after a war god huh...
He started to walk out of the rooftop. At least I've got his name, but somehow I feel like I don't want our conversation to end, this is the longest conversation I have.
"I do marshal arts you know" I randomly blurted out. I can't believe this! I'm expending an effort to talk to a guy?
"Oh really?" He stopped walking then faced me while holding his nose I just punched.
*Giggles* I giggled?
"Yeah I do some martial arts so my senses are honed so how did you get so close to me without me noticing?" I asked.
"Ohh that?" he stated.
He looked and pointed at the sky, I'm tempted and looked up too, but when I looked back at him he is... gone?
"It's just misdirection and magic really" a voice came from my back.
I turned around to face him and said "So you're some sort of a con man huh?"
"Well it seems like lunch break is about to end, goodbye Yukinoshita-San!" He said as he ran out of the rooftop.
This might be our first and last conversation as we doesn't have any reasons to talk but...
My first conversation with a boy in high school is different than I expected.
