Nazarick Behemoth Odle, the father of Ulbert Alain Odle, is a middle-aged man named Hisao Fujioka, around 55 years old. He has devoted his life to his work and family, managing a logistics company that provides infrastructure and materials to the government and private sector.
After years of accumulating stress, he decided to take up a hobby and found a new game called Yggdrasil that was about to open its servers. Confident that his son would continue to follow his teachings to become a responsible man, he decided to embark on his adventure in this new game, with a focus on PVP. He created a Heteromorphic / Demonic Race character with a class of Warrior / Martial Artist / Assassin that was balanced to deal with any situation, creating a variable and challenging character. He soon became known among PVP players in Japan and was considered undefeatable.
In the game's fourth year, Yggdrasil held its first world tournament, where each server was represented by the champion of each region. As the Japanese champion, he took a vacation to focus on the tournament. After battling tirelessly through different time zones, he emerged victorious and was awarded the world champion title, which came with a prize to choose from among three options:
-A world-class artifact that made the player virtually invincible in PVE.
-A complete unique divine class armor within the entire game.
-The possibility of obtaining 10 levels of classes not belonging to the player's job, but at 10 times the cost of regular exp and gold.
As he was not interested in playing against monsters and showing off a unique armor that was not useful, he chose the third prize, which opened infinite possibilities for the cost of an endless time to obtain it. He dedicated his time to becoming a Ranger, Illusionist, and Black Magician, taking two to level 3 and one to level 4 to obtain the basic advantages of each.
Over the years, all of Japan's powerful guilds had tried to recruit him, but they always seemed to have ulterior motives, whether it be for popularity or benefits. Because of this, he made the decision to never join any guild. However, as his riches accumulated, his son began to take an interest in the game, and he started to make friends. He decided to help them out.
The first players his son introduced him to were Touch Me and Tabula Smaragdina, to whom he gave advice on suitable game modes and professions. As the group grew, he helped everyone with advice, equipment, and secrets, earning their respect and admiration. Tired of living in cities with no privacy, he used his resources to create a place for them. When they finally had a base, which they named The Great Tomb of Nazarick in honor of the man who had made everything possible, they decided to form a guild. However, he kept his promise of not joining a guild, even though his son was a member. No one could challenge his decision, and they respected it. They chose Momonga, a skeletal necromancer that Touch Me had discovered and brought to the group, as their Guild Master, as he was the most dedicated and invested in the game.
Since everyone in the group shared a common hatred for spoiled children who only cared about playing the game, they established strict rules for joining the guild. The most emblematic rule was "Being a useful member of society and being of the Heteromorphic type." All of them had been hunted by groups of light-race characters for their choice of characters, which had left them with a certain resentment and contempt for people who didn't care about anything other than having fun.
With a base and guild established, they began to think about creating NPCs to defend them when they were not around. The first to collect the necessary ingredients for their creations was Tabula, who wanted to create two sisters, Nigredo and Albedo. When Tabula mentioned his plans, Hisao suggested that he could create a third sister, Rubedo, providing himself with the necessary ingredients and equipment. Hisao felt particularly in tune with Tabula because he was an intelligent and cultured man. Tabula agreed to the plan, and Rubedo was created. The second person to gather materials for an NPC was Hisao's son, Ulbert, who emulated his father's attitude to create Demiurge, a straight, practical, intelligent character who sought results in everything he did, even if it meant using tricks or evil methods. His father provided the main costume and characteristic glasses for Demiurge. Despite the success they achieved, Hisao decided to withdraw from the game because the growth of the company where he worked would keep him busy for an extended period of time.
Two years before the game's closure, way before anyone knew about it, a fateful email from Yggdrasil arrived in his inbox. An invitation to join the exclusive club of Japanese Game Masters. Overjoyed by the recognition of his reputation and conduct, he was offered a new account or the opportunity to keep his current one, but with several conditions attached.
The list of requirements was extensive, but he accepted them all. No guilds. No friends list. No PVP areas for reasons outside of the GM's standards. The most significant condition was clear: he was to take on the mantle of a GM using his beloved character. He was determined to finish his journey with the persona he had come to embody.
After signing on, his life began to change rapidly. He received classes and guidance on how to fulfill his GM duties. The best part was the camaraderie he felt among his fellow GMs, who welcomed him as one of their own.
But then, rumors started to surface. Dark whispers that the CEO who ran Yggdrasil was being accused of tax evasion in several Asian countries. These were just rumors at first, but the warnings came from those who he trusted, who saw him as a valued member of their group. Panic set in when it became clear that the rumors were true.
The company was in peril, and Yggdrasil's projects were put on hold, including the training of new GMs. In this time of crisis, he had entrusted his business responsibilities to his son, who had more time to take over the reins.
For more than a year, he heard nothing from his GM colleagues, until the fateful day when the news arrived. The company had lost the tax evasion case in every country, and the game would close within six months. The impact of this news was devastating, but he remained determined to make the most of what was left of the game. He played until the very last moment, cherishing each moment as if it was his last. The game had become a part of him, and he was proud to have been a Game Master, even if it was only for a brief moment.
