One shot
The birth of life and death.
It was dark.
The Pitch blackness and absence of sound is all she could remember when she first came into existence. She couldn't remember when or how, only that she was. Like it was meant to be, she didn't have a creator and there was nothing like her. She couldn't move or breathe, she didn't even have a body. The darkness was timeless, she just sat in the blackness waiting. For something, Anything.
At first she didn't acknowledge that she had a mind of her own, because what would be the purpose of that? Having a mind but not a physical frame to express itself? It didn't make sense, nothing about this made sense.
Was she supposed to do something? Was there a reason as to why she was here? Why did she have a mind of her own? Her mind was so filled with questions. Questions that needed answering. Was this torture? Is this some form of psychological suffering? To be conscious and to be able to feel but there's nothing to comfort her? Why did she have a subconscious? It was so dark….and it was nothing…nothing…
And it was suffocating her.
She had these emotions and there was nothing to ease them. Nothing….NOTHING
She didn't exactly remember when but at some point she had enough and her emotions erupted into an explosion. The explosion was enormous, it crossed hundreds of miles in a matter of seconds. Her Anger, confusion, despair, happiness, and loneliness crossed amongst the blackness and created something she's never seen before.
The once darkness was now colorful lights, they expanded and were beautiful….
Did she do this?
She honestly didn't mean to. Was it bad that she did this? Did it need to happen? How was she able to….
Still no answers.
Maybe she should stop asking questions and just accept the situation as a whole. Besides, it's not like there was anything else to respond to her. Despite getting rid of the darkness she was still very alone….
If she created this-
Entity of lights and gas. Then it should have a name, maybe if she shaped this giant cosmos into her own vision. It would help her find her own identity and purpose in this giant space of totality.
She decided to call it the Universe.

It has been billions of years now and she still didn't know what she was or what her purpose served. It's not boring like before, watching planets grow and gas's form massive balls of light was pretty interesting. Interesting how they didn't need her assistance in doing what they did. Almost like these cosmic balls of energy had minds of their own. However, they weren't like her and didn't have the psyche to respond or communicate. It was almost agonizing to witness. While before the explosion was miserable and dark, at least she didn't FEEL the time passing by. Ever since the explosion she has been able to feel the concept of time lasting and lasting.
She decided to cut down time into different labels. Such as years and months or so on. It helped her keep track of everything that was happening around her.
But she still felt alone.
Why is she the only one of her own? If she had the ability to create and shape the universe, she should at least have someone else to help guide this new found responsibility.
She decided she'd wait, maybe if she stopped thinking about being alone I'd feel less dull. Thinking about
So she waited….
And waited ….
And waited….
And waited…
…..
That's when she sensed him.
It started when her stars(as she liked to call them) were blowing up. It startled her at first, she didn't quite understand why they were doing that. It seemed like the huge gasses of light were constantly recycling their energy by blowing up and reforming into different stars. What confused her about this was why the stars had limits. Surely with more and more energy they'd just keep getting stronger? What was the point of them blowing up? Why not just continue to exist as one giant ball of energy? To continue to exist forever.
She didn't understand.
That's when she realized that it was someone else who was doing this. Somehow, another cosmic being like her came and started disturbing itself into her universe. At first, she didn't mind the idea of company, but now she felt a bit shy at the thought of confronting herself to this new being. For the first time in billions of years she felt some resemblance of excitement. It was entirely new and out of her control. There was the possibility that this thing was just as powerful as her. It needed to be done then. She was going to confront this creature.
He looked like a big black blob in space, and he was so small to her it was almost hilarious. She didn't have a physical form at this point so she was practically bigger than him by a million times.
It was quite captivating if she was going to be honest. The black blob seemed to sense her presence and looked directly at her. The lack of expression made it hard to tell what he was feeling.
He was the first to speak.
In a soft but solid voice he said with curiosity:
"So, you are what created this giant mass of energy and light. I have to say, I'm quite invested as to how."
She was flabbergasted. How was she supposed to answer that? It's not like she knew that creation was possible or that she was capable of doing so. Of all things this creature had to ask her… She needs to respond in a formative way. If these are her first words to speak, then they must be well thought out. She started to speak for the first time in her entire existence.
"I…..I'm not sure…It just happened."
She mentally wanted to scold herself, what kind of first words was that? Especially to this other new being? Whom she just met. She began to stutter. The new emotion of embarrassment started bubbling up in her psyche. This was humiliating.
" I-I'm not entirely sure if I was fundamentally c-capable of creating all of t-this. I'm not even sure w-what I am or my purpose here is to be honest. I…..I-I've done nothing these past billions of years but watch energy get bigger and bigger. I didn't even know they had limits…"
The black blob stayed silent, and just kept looking up at her. She wondered if he was thinking about how strange she was. This was useless, stop describing to this new creature about you, ask what it is and why it is here.
" Why are you here anyway? I didn't know it was possible for another intelligent and mindful being like me to exist. Especially one that is responsive. I myself believed that loneliness was my salvation and I would forever forsaken this reality. So why now do you come into my universe and ask me why I fabricated it?"
The blob was still silent, it floated around at ease. Almost like it was contemplating what I confessed. Finally for what felt like years he responded in a thoughtful tone.
" I'm not sure why I am here either, but I know that I just WAS for a long amount of time. For a while I stayed quiet from you and your sight. For years I wondered what the point was in my own existence and I constantly begged for myself not to be conscious. Even when I knew I could talk to you I was wondering why I needed to feel these emotions to do that. I grew curious of myself and started fumbling around with your stars. I realized that you let them grow bigger and bigger with energy without any regard or purpose? Why? It already has grown, and it completed its task at being a star. Why must it remain any longer when it can make new stars? So I destroyed them. That is my purpose here I suppose….destroying."
She felt anger bubble up in her and scoffed while saying "You destroy what I created? That is what you do? Do you not understand why they exist? To GROW and become stronger, destroying what I do is greatly annoying and a waste of time."
The black blob didn't respond after that.
It took awhile for her to come to understand the blob. Eventually they named each other.
He called her life, She called him death. They both realized that they were born with a purpose. She continued to create and expand the universe. While he continued to destroy some of the old work he did. Whether that be him blowing stars or killing microscopic germs floating around. He would bring an end to all.
Earth was eventually born and Vida and Death both decided to dedicate their lives there. That's where their romance began…
After years of evolution and creating life on earth. The earth was filled with many different creatures or all different shapes and sizes. Both Death and life were proud of their work, but they both wanted more.
What if they gave themselves physical bodies and interacted with the mortals below? Would it change anything? Only trying this out would tell.
She felt her lungs be filled with air and warmth….
Life stared at her reflection in the river.
She decided to test out her new body on earth. She was now near an empty grassland with a flower field and a mile long river.
Her new body was not human, but rather a humanoid animal. A sheep with fingers and curly turquoise colored hair. Her fluffy sheep fur was a lighter color and she was standing on two legs with hooves. Her new physical body was certainly something special…but the most uncanny feature about it had to be the eyes.
Her eyes had no white, but rather black. Her pupils were shaped like little crosses and were golden yellow. Life Assumed that this was a side effect when creating this body for herself. Maybe it was even a special feature? She really didn't know.
"You look quite beautiful…"
Life the sheep snapped her head to the voice behind her. It was Death, his new body resembles a humanoid wolf. He pretty much just looked like a regular wolf with human features, his tall strong physique…his nicely new and combed silver fur. But what she found most handsome about him was his glowing red eyes. They looked so terrifying but so compelling at the same time.
She felt her heart speed up and her cheeks flush. What was going on with her? She hadn't felt like this before when they were both just cosmic life forms in space. Maybe her body gave her a new perspective on how she felt about Death? She did admire death for as long as she could remember, even when he was still that little black blob in space. But he's changed now, the body almost fits his personality too well.
"I don't think I look as good as you, a wolf? That's an interesting choice, especially since I'm a sheep."
Death chuckled, he walked over to the river and sat right next to her. He dipped his hand in the water and gave himself a sip of it. His ears peeked at the new sensation in his mouth.
"These new bodies definitely feel different, like something I've never felt before. "
Life speculated this, now that they had physical bodies they can feel basic emotions. Could she feel what the mortals call love? Love seemed like such a strong emotion to them, they killed for it. Could she feel what they felt? Yes she and death had emotions but they weren't exactly like the mortals.
"Death….maybe we should use these new bodies to our advantage…."
