Ash was running down the stairs. 'Yes, today is the day! I'm finally getting my pokemon.' "Mom, I'm going!" "Oh no you don't, mister. You better eat breakfast first."
"But mom." Ash whined. "No ands, ifs, or buts!" Delia said sternly. Ash quickly inhaled breakfast. Over the last year, his mother tried to beat eating politely into his head. It worked… eventually. Still, when Ash was very excited, he didn't eat very neatly.
"Thanks mom; I need to go or I might be late!" "Take care dear."
Ash flew out of the house. He arrived at Professor Oak's Lab at the same time as Gary.
"Hey, Professor Oak, why are there only two of us?" Questioned Ash. "Well, the other two trainers couldn't make it today." "Ah, okay." "So, boys, who picks first?" Asked the professor. "Hah. That's easy! I'll go first!" Gary exclaimed.
Gary walked up to the machine. He picked out the pokemon with the water icon on it. Gary sent his pokemon out. The pokemon was a Squirtle. "Hey, Squirtle. Want to become a pokemon master with me?"
Squirtle let out a cry of approval. "Squirtle Squir."
Gary then quickly ran out of the door after taking his pokedex and pokeballs.
Professor Oak told Ash. "Now, it is your turn to choose." "Wait, Professor, what is that pokemon in the middle?" "Ah, that's just a pokemon I caught yesterday." the professor responded. "Can I have a look at it?" Ash inquired. "Okay, but it is quite feisty and a little bad tempered." Professor Oak said.
Professor Oak opened the pokeball. What seemed to come out of the pokeball was a large yellow mouse with brown stripes, red cheeks, and a tail in the shape of a lightning bolt. "This is Pikachu, an electric type pokemon. I found it nibbling on the wires. Well, it did drink all of my ketchup before that."
Ash squatted down. When Pikachu noticed Ash, he released some electricity from his cheek sacs. Ash realized he had to be cautious. He learned that certain electric pokemon could be quite sensitive. "Hi, Pikachu." Ash said while smiling. "You're a really cool pokemon with lots of spirit!"
Pikachu looked at Ash in surprise. 'This human wasn't afraid when I let out my electricity. He also hasn't picked me up and hugged me yet.'
"My name is Ash. I want to grow strong and become a pokemon master. Do you want to grow strong with me? If you don't want to, I won't force you." Pikachu stared at him for around seven seconds; then, Pikachu jumped on his shoulder. "I'm guessing that's a yes." Ash said. "Pika!" Pikachu said while nodding.
The professor was surprised he was able to befriend Pikachu so quickly. Then again, Ash had a special charm to him with pokemon. Ever since Ash was five, he would go to the lab and play with the pokemon. When he got older, he would even help take care of them. Pokemon always seemed to gravitate towards him; he could befriend them despite their size, type, or temperament. It would always stun Professor Oak.
"Well, Ash my boy, I take it you want Pikachu as your starter?" "Yes, Professor, I do." Professor Oak gave Ash his pokedex and some pokeballs. "As a reward for helping me out so much, I decided to upgrade your pokedex. It's my ultimate project! I'm not done with it. I will update yours when I improve it. You can not only use it for identifying pokemon, you can use it to transfer them too! It also has a call feature. Furthermore, it has a map! Finally, it can identify many pokemon from other regions! It can identify most pokemon from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh."
"Thanks a lot professor!"
"Hey, Pikachu let's go!" Ash held out a pokeball. "PIKA PI!" Pikachu said while shaking his head vigorously. "No pokeball?" "Pika." Pikachu said while nodding. "That's okay, Pikachu. You can stay on my shoulder." Ash said while laughing.
"Come on, let's go see my mom. She'll find you adorable!"
Delia was waiting for Ash. "Got your pokemon honey?" she asked. "Yup! Pikachu's right here with me." Ash picked up Pikachu. "Pika." "Aw, how adorable." "Oh, before I forget, Abra, Magikarp, and Horsea all want to go with you." Delia said. Ash swiftly went to the backyard and met with them. All three of them put their fingers on a pokeball at the same time. There was an immediate ding, a sign that the pokemon put up no resistance at all.
When Ash went back inside, Delia handed Ash his backpack. "I packed some food, water, extra clothes, pokemon food, I put some money your father sent you here. Oh also, don't forget to change your underwear!" "Stop! That's so embarrassing." Delia let out a small laugh. "Make
sure you stay safe and stay out of trouble." "Don't worry mom; everything will be fine." "I know, it's just that my little boy is all grown up." Delia said while sniffling a little.
He kissed his mom goodbye, put on his backpack and walked out the front door.
"Thanks for everything, mom." Ash said quietly while walking out the door. It was close to a whisper. It was very quiet, though Delia did hear it. Delia continued to wave at Ash as he left. After she closed the door, she shed a few tears. She wasn't sure whether it was sadness or joy for her son. She supposed it was a mix of both. After all, it was a bittersweet day for her.
Ash and Pikachu decided to take a short break under a tree. "Hey, come out everybody!" Ash sent out all of his pokemon. "I haven't used the pokedex on you guys yet! So, who's going first?" All the pokemon were excited to go first. After a little bit of discussion, the pokemon decided Magikarp would go first.
"Okay, let's see what moves you have!" Ash pointed Dexter at Magikarp.
Magikarp, the fish pokemon. Magikarp is a water type. Though very weak initially, once it evolves into Gyarados, it can be very strong. This Magikarp is female. This specimen is
shiny. This pokemon is incredibly large. It is 5'00 tall or 1.53m. It weighs 45.0lbs or 20.4kg. It has the ability Swift Swim and the hidden ability Rattled. This Magikarp knows Splash, Tackle, Flail, Bounce, Hydro Pump, Celebrate, and Happy Hour.
"Wow! You know all the moves that Magikarp can know. You even know some special moves!" Abra was next up. Ash pointed dexter at Abra.
Abra, the psi pokemon. Abra is a psychic type. Due to its massive brain, it rests 18 hours a day. Even while asleep, Abra is aware of its surroundings and can use its psychic powers. This Abra is male. This pokemon is incredibly large. It is 5'04 tall or 1.62m. It weighs 92.9lbs or 42.12kg. It has the abilities Synchronize and Inner Focus; it also has the hidden ability Magic Guard. This Abra knows Teleport, Knock Off, Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, and Ally Switch. Note: Knock Off, Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, and Ally Switch are egg moves.
"This is great Abra! You have moves other than teleport. You don't only have to rely on your psychic powers to fight!" Ash exclaimed while smiling. He then pointed Dexter at Horsea. "Your turn Horsea."
Horsea, the dragon pokemon. Horsea is a water type. It makes its nest in the shade of corals. If it senses danger, it spits black ink and flees. This Horsea is male. This pokemon is incredibly large. It is 3'04 tall or 1m. It weighs 44lbs or 20kg. It has the abilities Swift Swim and Sniper; it also has the hidden ability Damp. This Horsea knows Water Gun, Smokescreen, Twister, Focus Energy, Dragon Breath, Bubble Beam, Brine, Agility, Dragon Rage, Aurora Beam, Disable, Muddy Water, Razor Wind, Flail, Signal Beam, Clear Smog, and Outrage. Note: Dragon Rage, Aurora Beam, Disable, Muddy Water, Razor Wind, Flail, Signal Beam, Clear Smog, and Outrage are egg moves.
"Horsea, you already know Outrage! Plus, with Disable and Flail, we can make some pretty fun strategies! Finally, it's your turn Pikachu." Ash pointed Dexter at Pikachu.
Pikachu, the mouse pokemon. Pikachu is an electric type. This forest-dwelling Pokémon stores electricity in its cheeks, so you'll feel a tingly shock if you touch it. This Pikachu is male. This pokemon is 1'04 tall or .4m. It weighs 13.2lbs or 6kg. It has the ability Static and the hidden abilities Lightning Rod and Volt Absorb. This is the first recorded instance of a Pikachu having the ability Volt Absorb; so, it will be assumed that it is a hidden ability that was not yet discovered. This Pikachu knows Nasty Plot, Uproar, Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, Quick Attack, Nuzzle, Electro Ball, Agility, Swift, Double Team, Fake Out, Thunder Punch, Volt Tackle, Electric Terrain, Surf, Fly, Extreme Speed, Icicle Crash, Flying Press, Draining Kiss, Heart Stamp, Meteor Mash, Happy Hour, and Celebrate. Note: Fake Out, Thunderpunch, Volt Tackle, and Electric Terrain are egg moves. This Pikachu is the first of its kind that has learned Surf, Fly, Extreme Speed, icicle Crash, Flying Press, Draining Kiss, Heart Stamp, or Meteor mash.
"Pikachu!" Ash exclaimed. "Wow! You know those moves? How did you learn them?" Ash asked, confused. Pikachu tilted his head in confusion. "Pika?" "So, you don't know?" Ash asked. "Pika." Pikachu said while nodding his head.
Ash let out a laugh. "Either way, this means you're special. You'll become the best Pikachu ever!" Pikachu let out a squeal of delight and licked Ash's cheek. "Hahaha, stop Pikachu! That tickles." Ash said while laughing. "Pika." Pikachu continued to lick Ash.
After a while, Pikachu finally decided that he was done messing with Ash. "Okay, let's go now!" Ash said. Before he could leave, he heard his stomach grumble. He was going to ignore it, but Pikachu's stomach also rumbled. "Well, I guess we are eating first."
Ash released all his pokemon out of their pokeballs. "Guys, we are having lunch now!" He pulled out a sandwich his mom made for him and some pokemon food. He put some pokemon food in food bowls and gave it to them. They all let out a cry of joy. Ash decided to dig in. As he bit into his sandwich, he was reminded of home. He was also reminded of all the happy times he had.
After he ate, he waited for his pokemon to finish eating. He was thinking about some things when he was snapped out of his thoughts by a Rattata that came and tried to take some of Pikachu's food.
"Pikachu, use Nuzzle; then, follow it up with Electro Ball!" Pikachu concentrated electricity in its electricity sacs. Pikachu nuzzled against the Rattata, paralyzing it. Once he did that, he charged up a ball of electricity in his tail and then sent it flying at the Rattata. It was instantly knocked out by the attack.
"Go, pokeball!" Ash grabbed a pokeball from his belt and threw it at the rat pokemon. The pokemon was sucked into the red and white ball and was converted into red energy. After wiggling around a bit, the pokeball let out a ding; that signified a capture. Ash let out a cheer of victory. He then high fived Pikachu.
Ash let Rattata out and scanned it.
Rattata, the mouse pokemon. Rattata is a normal type. Its whiskers provide it with a keen sense of smell, enabling it to pick up the scent of hidden food and locate it instantly. This Rattata is female. This pokemon is incredibly large. This pokemon is 2'06 or .75m. It weighs 19.2lbs or 8.7kg. It has the ability Guts and the hidden ability Hustle. This Rattata knows Tackle, Scratch, Fury Swipes, Quick Attack, Focus Energy, Bite, Pursuit, Hyper Fang, Laser Focus, Take Down, Uproar, Reversal, Counter, and Flame Wheel. Note: Uproar, Reversal, Counter, and Flame Wheel are egg moves. (Quick little A/N: Though Rattata cannot learn Scratch and Fury Swipes is an egg move, I find that stupid so I retconned it a little bit. Not like I didn't change anything else ^^)
"Wow, you have a pretty good moveset!" Ash returned all of his pokemon to their pokeballs besides Pikachu. Pikachu hopped on Ash's shoulder.
The two continued to traverse the planes. They saw a few Pidgey, but Ash didn't feel like catching the small birds. They were quite passive; Ash didn't have anything against them; he just wanted to get something different. He even saw a few Mankeys. He didn't try to catch them; they would be troublesome to fight due to their numbers, and they were eyeing him. They would probably run before he could send out his pokemon.
As he continued to walk, he spotted something. He spotted four bird pokemon. He saw three Pidgey; that wasn't the exciting part though. The fourth bird was just what he was looking for. It had red wings that grew faded at the tips. It had brown feathers covering its head; its tail feathers were also brown. The skin on its stomach was a creamy white. This pokemon was a Spearow.
"Pikachu, to the battlefront!" Pikachu leaped from his trainer's shoulders. "Okay, Pikachu use Thunder Wave then hit it with a Thunder Shock."
With the element of surprise, the Spearow was hit with a wave of electricity. The electricity paralized it. Spearow tried to fly and attack, but it was immobilized. Pikachu then let out a blast of electricity from his sacs. The Spearow was almost defeated but was still trying to stay conscious.
Suddenly, the Spearow let out a loud cry. "SPEAROW!" At first, Ash and Pikachu didn't know what that cry was. Ash, who had studied pokemon for most of his life, realized that in a desperate attempt, the Spearow was calling out to its flock. "Quick, Pikachu use Quick Attack!"
"Pika!" Pikachu said while nodding his head. Pikachu ran very quickly and smashed into the Spearow, knocking it out of consciousness. Ash threw a pokeball at the defeated Spearow "Go, pokeball!" After all, it would be a shame not to catch since they already defeated it.
The pokeball wobbled for around four seconds then let out a ding. Ash picked up the pokeball in satisfaction and started running; Pikachu ran alongside Ash. Pikachu tilted his head and said "Pika?" which meant "why are we running?" Ash quickly picked up what Pikachu was saying. "Pikachu, that cry was a message to the flock!" Pikachu quickly nodded his head.
As they ran, a flock of Spearow could be seen flying after them. Ash looked back; there had to be at least forty-nine of them chasing him and Pikachu. 'Not good… at this rate, they'll catch us soon. So… our only option is to FIGHT!'
Ash knew that the Spearow had the advantage in this area; not only did they know this place, they could navigate better in the trees. "Pikachu, we have to find a place without trees!" Pikachu nodded while letting out a "Pika pi!"
Finally, after an agonizing minute, the duo reached a clearing. There were little trees here. This was the best they were getting. "Pikachu, Abra, Rattata, Horsea, Magikarp, to the battlefront!" Ash wasn't sure if his Spearow would obey him. Spearow showed respect to those who captured them because they knew they were strong, but he didn't know if it would pick him over its flock; especially, since they just met.
The five pokemon came out of their pokeballs. "Pikachu, Thunder Shock! Abra, use Thunder Punch with one hand and Ice Punch with the other! Magikarp, use Hydro Pump continuously! Horsea, use Laser Focus then Muddy Water! Rattata, use Uproar!"
Pikachu kept electrocuting the Spearow. He could defeat each one in one or two hits; however, whenever he beat one, a new one took its place. Abra was doing very well as well, but he was slowly getting overwhelmed. Magikarp was running out of stamina. Horsea couldn't charge up Muddy Water fast enough and got hit a few times with Peck between every usage of Muddy Water. Rattata's vocal cords were getting sore. As the battle waged on, the weather became stormy. Rain pelted all the pokemon. Lightning bolts were crashing all around them; noises of thunder became common. The lightning wasn't very close to them but it was still near them.
Both sides were tiring. Slowly but surely, the numbers of the Spearow started to prevail. Suddenly, a white glow started to come from Abra. 'I can't fail now! The person who took care of me when I was sick, the person who took care of me, the person who hatched me!'
Abra evolved into Kadabra. His legs and arms grew slightly bulkier and grew a decent bit longer. His head was larger and his face was sharper. He had a long mustache. His tale grew wider and longer. The brown tail stripe he had moved closer to the base of his tail. His upper body was way bigger now. On his lower body, he had three peach squiggles. Kadabra could now walk on his own. He looked stronger and bigger than his Abra form. Lastly, he had a spoon in his right hand.
"KADABRA!" Kadabra yelled a battlecry. Kadabra unleashed a devastating Psychic followed by Confusion. Almost all the Spearow were defeated, but reinforcements were here. Before anyone could do anything, Pikachu leaped towards the Spearow. Ash looked at the scene in awe. Lightning struck Pikachu's tail. Due to having the lightning rod ability, Pikachu's attack would be incredibly devastating now. "PIKA CHU!"
Pikachu sent out a Thunderbolt that roasted every Spearow that was chasing after them. "Kadabra, you evolved to save me. Pikachu, you learned Thunderbolt to save me." Ash said with tears of joy in his eyes. He ran and hugged Kadabra.
The next thing they saw shocked not only Ash, but also his pokemon. They saw a pokemon with golden tail feathers, blue talons, a white underbelly, red wings that faded to white then green, a stripe of green on its neck, and golden feathers on its head. "Wow… its Ho-Oh!" Ash quickly took out his pokedex and took a picture of Ho-Oh with it. Ash and his pokemon stared at Ho-Oh.
Ho-Oh flew over the rainbow that appeared after the storm. The only thing left was a feather that looked like a rainbow, the Rainbow Wing, that slowly floated into Ash's hands. Ash put the Rainbow Wing in a case.
Ash returned all his pokemon to their pokeballs aside from Pikachu. He then set up camp for the night. After the amazing event he witnessed, Ash couldn't sleep for around three hours. Eventually, he did fall asleep.
After Ash woke up, he also woke Pikachu up. Pikachu did not take kindly from being woken up from his dream about an all you can eat ketchup buffet. In short, he shocked Ash.
Ash sent out the rest of his pokemon. "All right guys, I'm going to get your food!" Ash set up all six of their food bowls and put pokemon food in all of them. Ash's recipe wasn't the greatest, but it was still pretty good. Ash decided to cook his food next. He decided to just make a simple sandwich with some oran berries on the side.
He wasn't a great cook, but he wasn't a bad one. His mother, Delia, made sure he learned to cook some basic food for him and his pokemon. After all, that was common sense.
While Spearow was eating, he had some time to think to himself. He knew that this human known as Ash was stronger than him. Spearow could see that his flock had given up on him. It was perfectly rational; the flock was defeated. They shouldn't risk their survival for one member. However, he could also see that Ash treated his pokemon as friends. After some contemplation, Spearow came to the conclusion that no matter how illogical, Ash wouldn't give up on his friends. Ash and his pokemon were Spearow's new flock.
"Pika pika pi." Spearow turned and saw the Pikachu that defeated him. Pikachu was telling him about how they saw Ho-Oh. Spearow was absolutely stunned. This was certainly going to be an interesting journey for him.
Ash had just finished eating. Pikachu, Kadabra, and Rattata had finished eating. Magikarp, Horsea, and Spearow were still eating. 'Ash, can you hear me?' "Woah!? Who was that?" 'That was me, Kadabra!' "Kadabra, how can you talk to me?" 'I am not talking to you. I am communicating with you through telepathy. Also, I can read your thoughts so you can just think what you want to tell me and I will know.' 'That's neat!' 'Thanks, anyways, I can sense psychic powers within you. You can be a very strong psychic, Ash.' 'WOW, really? Kadabra?'
'See, Ash, you just talked to me telepathically. Your psychic powers are very strong which is why that happened. Has this type of thing happened before?' 'Let me think.'
Flashback
Ash and Delia could be seen making cookies. Gary's birthday was coming up and they were invited. "Okay, Ash, I'll put it in the oven for you." "Thanks, mom!"
After a couple hours, they opened the oven. 'These smell so good! I want one of those.' "Ash, did you say something?" "What do you mean mom?" "I thought you just said that the cookies smelled good and you wanted one." "WOW! Mom, how did you know?" Delia didn't see Ash's mouth move. She didn't really pay much thought to it. "Ah, it must just be my mother's intuition."
Flashback End
'I'm going to assume you saw that, right Kadabra?' 'You guessed right Ash; I can help you control your telepathic powers and help you use your psychic ones!' 'Thanks so much Kadabra!'
'Okay, Ash, just imagine that you want to tell someone something but you don't want to say something.'
After around twenty minutes, Ash was able to not only talk telepathically, but also choose when not to use telepathy. Ash was a natural. All of Ash's pokemon had finished eating by now. They were playing with each other.
'Okay! Everyone, we will be doing some exercises now!' All of his pokemon aside from Kadabra thought the same thing. 'How are we hearing you? You aren't moving your mouth!?'
'It turns out I'm a psychic. Kadabra helped me learn how to talk telepathically. Don't worry, if you tell me not to hear your thoughts, I won't!' The pokemon let out a collective sigh of relief at that.
'Anyways, Pikachu, practice your speed. Try dodging Water Gun from Horsea. Horsea, practice your accuracy on Pikachu. Kadabra, practice Psychic and Confusion on Spearow. Spearow, practice your aerial maneuvers and agility. Rattata, try increasing your stamina in using Uproar. Magikarp, try increasing your endurance while using Hydro Pump!'
The pokemon did this amongst other exercises for three hours. Now that they finished, they went back into their pokeballs. Ash and Pikachu are on the road again.
Ash saw a stream. He went down alongside the stream. Eventually, he found a girl with a destroyed bike. The wheels were shredded and many screws were loose or falling out. The bike was twisted and dented in many places.
"Are you okay?" Ash asked. "Yes, I was only attacked by a Gyarados who broke my bike!" the girl sarcastically said. "Hey, what's your name?" Ash asked. "My name is Misty!" "Do you want to go with me? Adventures are always more fun with friends." Ash said while smiling. "Sure, why not." Misty replied while dusting herself off.
The duo continued on together from there. There weren't that many wild pokemon. Since many travelers passed by, pokemon tended to stay off the path. The path was a dirt road that was probably made by humans. It was fairly wide and was around four inches lower than the rest of the area. It wasn't really constructed by humans. They probably just removed the top few inches of soil and smoothed it out a bit.
You could tell it was made a while ago because some grass was growing on the path. The duo traveled for around twenty minutes before arriving at a hill. They trekked over it and when they reached the top, they were greeted with a beautiful view. You could see a lot of Viridian City. Ash asked Misty "Hey, want to eat breakfast right now?" Misty gave Ash a confused glance. "We don't have any food right now.
"Ah, I forgot to mention I can cook some basic things." "It's good to be prepared; sure." Misty replied.
Ash made breakfast for the two of them. He also brought out his pokemon food. "So, Misty, what's your dream?" "My dream is to be a water type master! I really love water type pokemon; they're the best! Why do you ask?" Misty said. Ash rubbed the back of his head. "I just thought I would like to know more about the person I'm traveling with!"
Misty had a thoughtful look. She hummed a bit before saying "What's your dream?" "That's easy! My dream is to be a pokemon master!" Ash said while pumping a fist in the air. "That's a nice dream, Ash." Misty said while smiling.
"Hey, Ash, your Horsea is really cute! I hope to get my own." Misty said. "Haha, thanks!" Ash replied.
"Say, Ash, why is Pikachu outside of his pokeball?" Misty questioned. "Ah, he doesn't like being in pokeballs." Ash replied. "That makes sense." Misty said.
After breakfast, they began going down the hill. It was way easier to go down than up. Misty and Ash bantered a bit more while they walked. When they hit the bottom of the hill, Ash ran off after saying "Last one there's a rotten egg" to Pikachu. Pikachu and Ash started running down the path toward Viridian City.
Misty shouted "Hey, wait up!" She chased after the two while thinking it was nice to be with Ash and Pikachu. They were a funny and nice bunch. Ash slowed down as he neared Viridian city. Pikachu jumped back on Ash's shoulder. Misty finally caught up with the two of them.
Together, they walked near Viridian City.
