Some people might ask why Uchigatana is cheaper than the katana its because of the way they were in the game the Uchigatana is easy to break in game so yeah and i know some might say Persona doest have an durability system but still the katana is an ordinary weapon like Bell's Guild issue knife. Its just better durability because its from modern era while in dark souls they are drops from monster that you've fought againts.
