Chapter 2: Bat vs Spider
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter and I'm pleased to see how many people are interested in this story. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
The next day, it was bright in sunny as the City Council was at the soon-to-be World Fair.
"Blood, sweat and tears. That's what turned this dream into a beautiful reality gentleman." The Mayor said.
"That and Bruce Wayne's money!" A man said causing everyone to laugh.
"Spoken like a true county prosecutor Mr. Dent. Money always helps but it is the ingenuity of the city's captains of industry who provided these marvels. And may this special select few enjoy this preview of the Gotham World Fair!" The Mayor said as the gates open.
Inside were tons of amazing buildings, a giant Ferris Wheel and even a blimp.
Walking up to a large light, the Mayor shows it to them. "The stairway to heaven. A fully electronical lantern, bright enough to illuminate the very celestial firmament above. Higher even than the police department's new lighter-than-air patrol craft."
"Let's see it." A woman said.
"The light tends to show off a bit better in the nighttime, Ambrose." The Mayor points out. "But here's a sight you needn't wait to marvel at. Gotham's own answer to the Eiffel Tower."
Gesturing to the large Ferris wheel, they all looked at its size in awe.
"The fox wheel will elevate you two hundred and fifty feet into the sky at the astonishing rate of 15 miles an hour." He explains.
"Heavens! Can the human body even survive that kind of motion?" A woman asks concerned.
"Most certainly, ma'am. I refer you to medical expert and Gotham's premier alienist Dr. Hugo Strange." The Mayor said gesturing to a man in a fancy suit, sunglasses and a top hat.
"The human organs can withstand velocities up to 35 miles per hour. Ride the wheel, and I give you my guarantee as a physician and surgeon you will live." Hugo assures.
"It's a shame you won't provide the same assurance to the ladies of Gotham, Mr. Mayor." Walking forward was a beautiful woman with long black hair and a dark purple dress. This was Selina Kyle. "Women are being gutted in the streets like wild game and the Gotham Police stand around twiddling their thumbs."
"I'm sure the lovely Selina Kyle's voice would be best suited for the stage of the Monarch theater than a city council meeting." Harvey said.
"Mr. Dent." Selina acknowledges.
"Sure and no ladies have been killed Ms. Kyle. Some gin-soaked women of the street have met their fate as is common to their kind." Chief Bullock said.
"Belay that chief." James orders as he walks towards Selina. "Ms. Kyle, I assure you visitors to this fair men and women alike will be safe from…"
"Jack." A voice calls out.
Entering the meeting was Sister Leslie and another nun.
"Jack the Ripper. That's what he calls himself in the letter he sent the Gotham Gazette, isn't it?" She asks.
"Now sister that's just another hoax." The chief assures.
"Really Bulldog? Strange it would arrive with a human kidney in the envelope. There's a butcher in this town preying on poor women and if you don't stop him I'll raise holy hell." Leslie threatens.
"Sister Leslie, your dedication to Gotham's poor—"
"Poor is the word." She interrupts. "If these women came from Crescent Hill instead of Skinner's End you'd have found the criminal by now."
"My men are working triple shifts and we will find that criminal. I've pledged to clean up Gotham and I stand by it." James said.
"It's the bat creature we've heard about. It could be him." A woman said.
"Or the Spider. He's loose in the city too." A man said.
"That could be, those two are sneaky. My men can't seem to—"
"To do anything Chief Bullock but sit on their fat asses and—"
"Just a minute! Your charity house draws these pests in the first place!" Bullock snaps when a carriage drives in.
"Whoa!" Alfred said as he and Bruce Wayne pull up in a carriage.
"As I live in breath. If it isn't himself." Bullock smiles.
"Welcome, a hearty welcome to Gotham's favorite native son! Bruce Wayne!" The mayor declares.
"Thank you, Mayor Tolliver, don't stop on my account. You know I like to keep a low profile." Bruce jokes making everyone chuckle. "I heard about this city council meeting and I just thought I would see how my money was being spent and all I see are sour faces."
In the back, Selina looks at Bruce and smiles softly.
"Think nothing of it Mr. Wayne there are just a few disruptive females." Mayor said.
"Don't worry sir I was about to have them escorted away." Bullock said.
"Leslie." Bruce smiles walking over to her.
"You were saying?" James asks shutting him up.
Soon James and Leslie followed Bruce to his carriage after the meeting.
"There were newspapers in Europe James. Is it as bad as they say?" Bruce asks.
"Worse. Despite your best efforts with this fair, this city is getting more and more deplorable every day. First, this Batman Vigilante, then this Spider-Man shows up, and then this Jack the Ripper lunatic." James lists.
"They're not the same man?" Bruce asks.
"Heavens no. The Parrish home is full of orphans who swear the Batman saved them from the gangs and the women's house is full of ladies who swear the Spider-Man saved their lives from bad people. Those two are on the sides of the angels." Leslie explains.
"The Ripper on the other hand is not. I've seen the bodies. It's like an autopsy. He's a monster." James said as they drove away.
"I also heard about your daughter James. I'm sorry she ran away." Bruce said.
"My little girl Barbara. What could have possessed her to leave such a loving home?" James sighs.
"Maybe that home wasn't as loving as you claim it to be." Leslie narrows her eyes.
"And you claim you have no word on her whereabouts?" James asks.
"As I've told you many times James there is no information for me to share." Leslie said.
"I just wonder what was going through the poor girl's mind to leave her own home. If I didn't have Leslie and the orphanage when I lost my parents. I don't know what I'd do. Funding the orphanage is the least I can do." Bruce said.
"Remember what I always taught you kids." Leslie reminds.
"With power comes great responsibility." Bruce smiles.
Nearby Rick and Morty were listening in on this with a high-tech device.
"Ugh really? That sounds like something on a fortune cookie." Rick rolls his eyes.
"I kinda like that Rick." Morty admits.
"Of course you do. You love that goodey goodey garbage." Rick rolls his eyes going back to listening in.
"And now you're back in the manor." Leslie said.
"Too remote I have a townhouse on Bell Avenue." Bruce said.
"You hear that Morty? We got an empty mansion to set up shop." Rick grins.
"Rick I thought we were helping that Spider-Man guy? Now we're breaking into a mansion?" Morty asks confused.
"Yeah I know but if the Rich boy isn't gonna enjoy the big house full of awesome shit we might as well make the most of it. Come on." Rick said leading him away.
"I look forward to showing it to you. Unfortunately, tonight I have too—" Bruce starts.
"Don't say another word." Sister Leslie interrupts. "I will not hear you lie. A rich bachelor like yourself is always up to no good."
"I'm afraid it's unavoidable. Isn't that right Alfred?" Bruce chuckles.
"Your evening attire is already laid out sir." Alfred informs.
"Well duty calls I'm afraid." Bruce apologizes.
"Do you suppose his business is blonde, brunette, or redhead?" James guesses.
"James Gordon, you have a dirty mind." Sister Leslie scolds before smirking. "My money's on blonde."
"Still the same as ever." Bruce said when Sister Leslie notices Jaden walking on the sidewalk carrying two big bags of groceries.
"Wait Bruce pull over." Leslie said as the carriage stopped across from Jaden. "Jaden!"
"Sister Leslie." Jaden smiles as she climbs off and gives him a hug. "Whoa easy I have groceries."
"It's always a pleasure to see you're smiling face." She smiles.
"Leslie, who's this new face?" Bruce asks.
"Bruce this is Jaden Cooper. He came to the orphanage shortly after you left. He stops by a few times a month to help out around the place." Sister Leslie introduced.
"It's the least I can do after everything." Jaden said as Bruce chuckled.
"Nice to know I'm not the only one who wants to give back." Bruce smiles.
"Whoa Bruce Wayne? It's a pleasure to meet you sir. Sister Leslie has told me a lot about you." Jaden said nervously.
"All good I hope." Bruce jokes making her giggle.
"Mostly." She smirks.
"Well Jaden any friend of Sister Leslie's is a friend of mine. Can I offer you a ride? Those groceries look heavy." Bruce offers as Sister Leslie helps him in.
"Thank you, Mr. Wayne you didn't have to do that." Jaden said.
"Think nothing of it." Bruce said as Jaden sat down next to Leslie.
"So Jaden was it? What's a young man like you doing with his life?" James asks.
"I have a few jobs around town. During the day I do whatever is willing to pay me, but at nights I usually work as a bartender." Jaden said.
"That's quite a large amount of groceries for one man." Bruce said.
"Well I uh have some guests back at my place." Jaden said.
"Oh my Jaden you finally brought a girl home." Sister Leslie teases.
"Leslie." Jaden blushes.
"I knew it was only a matter of time before a nice girl realized the catch you were." Leslie teases.
"She do this to you when you lived with her?" Jaden cringed.
"You have no idea." Bruce chuckles.
"You boys should spend some time together. I think you both might have a few things in common." Leslie said.
"We do?" Both paused looking at each other.
"Sister Leslie, don't you think Mr. Wayne does enough charity work? Does he really need to spend his time with another orphan?" James asks.
"I'll have you know Jaden is one of the sharpest boys I've ever met. He's smarter than half idiots on your police force that's for sure." Leslie scolds.
"Sister Leslie please don't piss off the Police officer." Jaden said nervously.
"Well Jaden maybe someday I can give you an interview to see if I might need you." Bruce offers.
"I'll look through the paperwork sir." Alfred said.
"Uh this is my stop." Jaden said as they stopped at the corner. "It was a pleasure meeting you Mr. Wayne and I'll see you later Leslie. Bye."
Grabbing his groceries Jaden ran down the street.
"So what kind of business do you think he has?" James smirks asking the same question he asked about Bruce.
"This time I'm going with redhead." Leslie smirks not knowing just how right she was.
At Jaden's place, as both Pam and Cindy were laying in Jaden's bed when the light shined in from the window.
"Ugh." Cindy groans opening her eyes. "Pam I just had a weird dream."
She tried to sit up but winced in pain. "Huh?" Slowly lifting up the covers Cindy saw she was in her undergarments with bandages over her cut wound. "It really happened." She gasps before looking at Pam who was in the same situation. "Pam wake up!"
"Ugh Babs five more minutes." Pam groans.
"Pam, not that name. We're not at our place." Cindy whispers not wanting people to know that name.
"What?" Pam woke up and saw they were in an unknown room. "Where are we? The last thing I remembered was…the Ripper. He tried to kill us."
"But how did we get here?" Cindy asks when they heard the doorknob move causing both girls to flinch in fear when it opened to reveal Jaden.
"Oh thank god, you're both awake." Jaden sighs putting the bags down.
"Jaden? W-What's going on?" Pamela asks confused.
"Is this your place?" Cindy asks.
"Yeah, after I got off work, I heard screaming. I ran as fast as I could and found you two laying on the ground bleeding. So I took you both back here and fixed you up as best I could." Jaden said sitting down.
"You did this?" Cindy said surprised.
"Granted I'm not a doctor, but I managed to stop the bleeding." Jaden said.
"Jaden…thank you." Pamela said touched.
"You saved our lives. We were attacked by Jack the Ripper." Cindy said.
"Well lucky for you Spider-Man showed up. While he dealt with him, he told me to get you two to safety. I'm just glad I made it in time." Jaden said.
"I have to say you're making quite the impression on us. At this rate, we might have to give you a reward." Pamela teases lowering the strap on one of her shoulders giving him a decent view.
"Uh that won't be necessary I'm just happy I could help." Jaden said blushing.
"The only question is what are we gonna do now? Pam and I can't exactly go back to the Club, the Ripper wants us dead more than ever since we got away." Cindy sighs laying back down.
"You're right and since we didn't even see his face, he could be anyone." Pam frowns.
Seeing the position, they were in Jaden slowly walks over.
"Well I mean, if you two are willing to help out you could well…stay with me for a while." Jaden offers.
"Huh?" Cindy asks suspiciously.
"I mean the Ripper doesn't know where I live and he only goes after women who are their own and at night if you two stayed by my side I can keep an eye out for you both." Jaden offers.
"As tempting as that is, no one offers something like that without a catch." Cindy said.
"What do you want in exchange?" Pam asks.
"I didn't realize helping people in need was a bad thing? I was raised by a very sweet nun who taught me to look out for others in need." Jaden said making both girls pause.
"Sister Leslie." Both smiled instantly.
"You two know her?" Jaden said surprised.
"Of course, she took me in when I had nothing and introduced me to my best friend in the whole world." Pam said gesturing to Cindy.
"I owe her my life for helping me." Cindy nods.
"Well then I guess the three of us really do need to stick together then. If you two are willing to help me I can help you hide out for a while and avoid raising any heads." Jaden offers.
"What do you think?" Pam asks looking at Cindy.
"We're not gonna be able to outrun anyone until these cuts heal." Cindy said.
"Well I guess I have some roommates for a while." Jaden chuckles making her giggle.
Seeing this Pam couldn't help but smirk.
"I must say Jaden you're quite the gentleman there must be some way we can thank you." Pam said walking up to him.
"That's not necessary really." Jaden said.
"Well consider this a thank you for saving our lives." Leaning in Pam kisses Jaden on the lips surprising her and Cindy.
Pulling back Cindy smirks seeing the reaction on his face.
"W-Wow I should save you girls more often." Jaden blushes making Pam giggle.
"Easy tiger, we're still healing." Pam teases.
"Uh…I'm gonna get lunch started." Jaden said going to the kitchen.
"What was that?" Cindy asks.
"What? I was just showing my appreciation. I bet if you showed him a little he wouldn't mind." Pam giggles.
"I just him." Cindy hisses.
"And he saved our lives. And I'll tell you one thing Babs. I've never seen you smile at a boy like that before." Pam whispers making her blush.
"I'm just grateful that's all. And no saying that name unless we're alone." She reminds looking away.
That night, Spider-Man was on the rooftops of Gotham examining the sight where the Ripper attacked the girls.
"I don't usually cover this area much. Too close to rich people's territory. But maybe I can find some clues on the border." Spider-Man said jumping over a gap.
Little did he know across the roofs the Batman spotted him and narrowed his eyes.
Swinging across Batman looks to see Spider-Man looking around carefully.
"So he's the Spider-Man I've heard about." Batman narrows his eyes.
As Spider-Man looked down at the people for any clues Batman slowly approached him causing his spider-sense to go off.
Slowly Spider-Man approaches a 4-way fork in the alley. "Hmm Eeny, meeny, miney, moe, catch a killer by the toe, if he hollers, let him go, eeny, meeny, miney, moe!"
Turning around quickly Spider-Man fires a web at Batman grabbing his chest. Yanking him in with all his might Batman flies towards him and gets kicked in the chest.
"Not bad you're pretty sneaky batsy." Spider-Man said.
"So you're the Spider I've heard about. How'd you know I was behind you?" Batman asks standing tall.
"Call it a sixth sense. Oh I'm sorry where are my manners. I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man I've heard a lot about you too. A pleasure to finally meet you." Spider-Man said tipping his hat to him. "Now I got some questions.
"I have some questions for you." Batman said pulling the webs off him.
"I asked first and I'm the one who's got the webs." Spider-Man said aiming his arms at him.
Narrowing his eyes the two found themselves in a stand-off.
Both wanted information but neither was gonna give it up that easy.
Making the first move, Spider-Man fired two webs at him.
Taking out a grappling hook, Batman throws it to the roof and swings out of the way and onto the rooftops.
"You're not getting away that easy!" Firing a web Spider-Man swung after him but right when he got reached the top bataraangs flew at him.
Yelping Spider-Man bends backwards as they cut the front of his coat revealing a little red under the cuts.
"Hey do you have any idea how much this costs me?" Spider-Man said only for Batman to appear behind him and kick him in the face knocking his hat off.
Tumbling across the roof Spider-Man grabs onto the edge to stop him from falling over.
Running towards him Batman goes on the attack but at the last second Spider-Man drops down avoiding the strike.
"What the?" Batman looks down to see Spider-Man crawling sideways along the buildings before leaping out and punching him in the gut.
Cringing Batman skids back to see Spider-Man pick up his hat.
"How are you doing that?" Batman asks.
"Sorry that's on a need-to-know basis." Spider-Man said putting it back on. "And unless you start talking you don't need to."
Going on the attack, Spider-Man delivers a fierce kick but Batman blocks it.
Trying to counter, Batman swings a fierce left hook but Spider-Man ducks.
Firing two webs at his chest Spider-Man yanks him and knees him in the gut.
Growling Batman grabs Spider-Man by his leg and slams him down.
Pulling his fists back, Batman delivers multiple strikes hitting Spider-Man.
Reaching down, Batman grabs him by the mask and pulls, but before he could see the face Jaden fires a web blinding him.
"Aaagh!" Batman screams unable to see.
Using this chance, Jaden slips away as Batman rips the web off his face.
"Incoming!" Leaping up Jaden wraps his legs around Batman's neck and delivers multiple punches before grabbing him by the mask.
Growling enraged, Batman threw him off but when Spider-Man went off so did his mask.
Panting heavily both look in shock to see who the other person holding their mask was.
"Bruce?" Jaden said surprised.
"Jaden?" Bruce said equally surprised.
Pausing neither one knew what to make of this. They had just met this morning and they had just tried to beat the other into a pulp.
"Well…guess Leslie was right when she said you and I had some things in common." Bruce said.
"Somehow I doubt she knows about this." Jaden said holding up his mask. "You're not the Ripper are you?" Jaden asks.
"No and I doubt you are. You talk too much to be the Ripper." Bruce said.
"I fought him last night." Jaden said getting his attention.
"You fought him? What happened?" Bruce asks.
"I had to ditch him." Jaden cringed.
"You let a psychopath killer get away?" Bruce said grabbing him by the sleeves.
"Two of his soon-to-be victims were dying. I had to get them fixed up before it was too late." Jaden counters shoving him off. "I don't know how you do things Mr. Doom and Gloom but I don't leave people to die."
"I can't believe Sister Leslie actually suggested we spend time together." Bruce said tossing Jaden his mask and taking his back.
"Look Bruce after tonight we can go back to our parts of the city and forget we ever saw each other but first I got a killer I need to find." Jaden said as they both put their masks.
"You do. I have a lead. Now if you know what's good for you Jaden you'll go back to your home and forget this night ever happened." Batman said.
"Wait. How do I know you're not gonna spill my secret?" Spider-Man asks.
"Do you plan on spilling mine?" Batman glares.
"Depends on what you do with mine." Spider-Man glares back.
"Just stay out of my way." Batman said firing his grappling hook and swinging off into the night.
'He said he had a lead. If I can find the Ripper I can help Pam and Cindy.' Spider-Man thought before turning in his direction.
A few blocks away, we see Selina Kyle making her way down the streets of Gotham all by herself.
As she made a turn towards an alley, she sees it was blocked.
Narrowing her eyes, Selina went in another direction, but little did she know the Ripper was watching her.
Following her, Ripper didn't notice Batman up on the rooftops.
With the chase beginning, Selina aware of the Ripper's presence started to run as fast as she could entering a slaughterhouse.
Running up the stairs, she goes up to the second floor only to see hanging meat carcasses. Clearly, this is where all the butchery took place.
However, before she could react a knife stabbed the door next to her making her yelp.
Leading him out into the middle of the room, Selina reaches under her dress to reveal a whip strapped to her leg.
Taking off her hat, she cracks the whip meaning she was ready for him.
Flicking the whip, it snaps part of the Ripper's coat but he didn't seem fazed.
Readying his knife he charges in ready to slice her in half.
Ducking out of the way, Selina kicks him in the chest knocking him against a big carcass.
Flicking her whip against him, Selina kept the Ripper at a distance until she flicked it wrapping around his arm.
Grabbing the whip, Ripper yanks her and punches her in the face.
Falling to the ground, Ripper wraps Selina's whip around her neck and began choking her.
With thunder echoing outside the Ripper was about to claim a new victim when Batman leaps in from the rafters and punches Ripper knocking him away from her.
Getting up, Ripper pulls out a knife and attacks.
Moving out of the way, Batman punches the arm with the knife making Ripper drop it.
Going on the attack, Batman grabs Ripper from behind but was soon thrown off.
As the two men exchanged punches Selina was slow to get up.
Nailing Batman in the gut Ripper grabs him and slams him against the wall
Pinning him to by his neck Ripper was about to chop his head off when a web flew in knocking it out of his hand.
"Hey Ripper remember me?!" Swinging in, Spider-Man kicks Ripper in the face.
"I thought I told you to stay out of my way." Batman said.
"How about a thank you?" Spider-Man said seeing it was his turn to face the Ripper.
Grabbing his knife off the ground Ripper was very eager for a rematch.
Charging in, Spider-Man takes his hat off and throws it to Ripper covering his face.
Reaching for his head, Ripper takes it off only to see Spider-Man right in front of him.
"Surprise!" Swinging an uppercut, Spider-Man nails him on the chin sending him flying back.
Landing against a pig, Ripper sees Spider-Man fire a web at him.
Moving quickly he pushes the pig in front of him using that as a shield.
"You know Jack if you really want to cut something up. Maybe you should work here. That way you can be psycho but you would help the city. What do you say? Interested in a little career change?" Spider-Man asks but in response Ripper pushes the carcass towards him.
Holding out his arms, Spider-Man catches the pig stopping it in his place.
"You could have just said no." Spider-Man said.
Using this opening Ripper slashes Spider-Man cutting a bit opening in his coat.
"Dangit. If you're not gonna respect me at least respect the suit." Spider-Man said unbuttoning it.
Getting up Batman sees under the trench coat was a light gray vest with black sleeves, dark grey pants and on his chest was a large red spider icon on his chest. (Google Blood Spider Logo)
"Really?" Batman raises an eyebrow.
"You have your symbol. I have mine." Spider-Man said dodging Ripper's slashes and kicking him in the chest.
Cringing in pain, Ripper grabs Spider-Man by the neck and throws him against the wall.
Coughing, Spider-Man looks up to see Ripper about to stab him.
Gasping Selina pushes a pig carcass on a chain sending it smashing into Ripper.
Seeing his original target was moving, Ripper switched focus and went after her.
As Selina flicks her whip at him, Ripper threw his knife forcing her to dodge.
Grabbing her by the neck, he throws her across the floor.
Without her whip, Selina was wide open.
Making his way towards her, Ripper raised his knife up high ready to end it when suddenly a trap door opens right below him sending him falling through to the first floor.
"You really should watch your step." Spider-Man said revealing he had pulled the switch.
"Are you alright Miss?" Batman asks walking towards Selina.
"Damn you." Pushing him away Selina looks down the trap door only to see the Ripper had escaped.
"Oh great he got away again." Spider-Man said.
"Because of you two. I'll never have another chance to stop that butcher and you two squandered it playing Knight in Shining Armor." Selina snaps.
"Don't be so sure. He's more skilled than I thought." Batman narrows his eyes.
"He's more than skilled with knife. He packs quite a punch too." Spider-Man agrees.
"I can handle myself and before you offer to gallantly escort me home. Let me assure you both I am quite capable of—" Selina looks to her side to see Batman was gone.
"Uh…I'll show myself out. Madam." Tipping his hat to her, Spider-Man swung out the window.
"Well thank you for that at least." Selina said.
Up on the rooftops, Batman looked out at Gotham.
"Boy that was some fight huh Batman?" Looking behind him, Batman saw Spider-Man sitting on the edge. "You, me, and even Ms. Kyle against him, and he was able to hold his own."
"What's your point?" Batman asks not having time for this.
"Look the way I see it you and I want the same thing. To catch the sicko before he kills all the women in Gotham, am I right?" Spider-Man asks.
"You're not wrong." Batman said.
"So what I suggest is you and I work together. A truce. What do you say Bruce?" Jaden offers lifting up his mask.
Narrowing his eyes Batman was unsure.
"Alright let's break down Gotham's defense against this psycho, shall we? We have an entire police force that is literally all bark no bite, me a guy in a mask with freaky powers and you another guy in the mask with a lot of moves and great detective skills." Jaden points out.
"That sounds about right." Batman nods in agreement.
"And since the Police aren't doing anything, I have got to believe Batman that together. We can figure out how to stop this maniac once and for all." Jaden said.
"Before I say anything why do you do this?" Batman asks.
"Why do you?" Jaden asks.
"I asked first." Batman said not budging making Jaden sigh.
"Well I'm not gonna lie this kind of power is tempting. I mean I could live the easy life no problem with these skills but uh someone once told me with great power comes—"
"Great Responsibility. Sister Leslie." Batman smiles.
"She told it to you too, huh?" Jaden asks as Bruce took off his mask.
"She's part of the reason I put on a mask. Alright Jaden I'll give you a shot." Bruce said.
"Seriously? So we're partners?" Jaden grins.
"For the moment, but if we're gonna do this, we're gonna do it right." Bruce said.
"Alright what do we do?" Jaden asks.
"You said you saved 2 women from the Ripper. Where are they?" Bruce asks.
"In a safe location healing their wounds." Jaden assures.
"Good. Keep them safe. We might need to have a word with them later." Bruce said putting his mask on. "By the way, you really should think about changing your costume. You can't see the symbol when you're wearing that trench coat." Batman said pointing at the big red spider.
"Hey the coat works great when I'm on night patrol." Jaden said putting on his mask.
"Even so you might want to make some adjustments." Batman suggests.
"So what do we do now?" Spider-Man asks.
"We need information. And I know just where to start." Batman said turning away. "You coming or what?"
Nodding Spider-Man and Batman leap out into the night. They didn't catch the killer, but a new team was born.
