The following morning…
Jaune woke up and took a shower.
Today was a big day for him. It was the day of his first step toward becoming a Hero in Remnant.
That's right, not just a Hero, but a hero on Remnant.
Why? Because Jaune is already considered a Hero in another world.
That world being Type-Moon.
There was even a power that tried to record him, but he intercepted and destroyed it.
Never mind about that information.
Today, it is all about Jaune being a Huntsman-in-training on Remnant, officially.
It took a lot of effort to ask for Terra's help to make a fake transcript that can fool even the most observant.
All Jaune had to do in return was to give Saphron and Terra a baby…or two, which he had no issues with.
Although, there was someone that got jealous.
Not Saphron, she was doing the do with Jaune… I meant Tiamat!
The Goddess wanted to feel connected to Jaune intimately. Hence, the immense endurance stat. It was quite an experience that Jaune would love to do again, but his being at Beacon is a bit of a problem.
However, he did have a plan for it.
The Emerald Forest is where the initiation would take place. Jaune plans to use that as a chance to scout the place and look for a location where he can place one of his 'Tiny Houses' so that he can do a bit of horizontal tango with Tiamat.
Jaune shook his head and turned up the cold water. He needed to calm down his raging erection at the thought of Tiamat.
After an hour of showering, Jaune headed to the kitchen to have breakfast.
Unlike other students that were waiting in line, Jaune manifested his food out of nowhere…to the eyes of others anyway.
In truth, all the food came from his inventory. A great perk in Jaune's opinion since he didn't have to carry anything, ever.
"Good morning, Jaune!" said Ruby. She was excited about the day.
Jaune looked up from his food and greeted Ruby back.
"Hey, Ruby. I see you're excited for today," said Jaune. The bubbly girl was bubblier today than she was yesterday.
"Of course! No more having to interact with people and more Grimm killing!" said Ruby. She is very eager to kill Grimm.
"You know, I heard that we would all be in a four-man team. You and your partner, plus another two that would be assigned to you. Sorry to tell you, Ruby, but you might not get your wish about not having to interact with other people," said Jaune. He got as much information as he could when he sent in his application to Beacon. He knows that every team would be a four-man team. He needed to act as if he did go to combat school. It was a shame that there is no exam for people that didn't go to combat school. Only for people with recommendations. Oh, well.
"What?! Oh!" said Ruby. She then slumped on her seat.
To cheer up Ruby, Jaune took out cookies and milk from his inventory and gave them to the young Rose…who was happy with the gesture.
"If that's the case, then I'll just have to find a way to have you and Yang on my team! Hmm…? Maybe there is a way to rig this partner thing. I can team up with Yang, and you, Jaune, can find a partner that you think will be able to kick butt with us!" said Ruby.
"And how would you achieve that, sis? None of us knows how our partner is going to be assigned. Or how the team would be formed," said Yang. She would love to be with her sister as a team, but no one knows how the initiation would be done in the first place.
Ruby, once again, slumped on her seat. Her plans failed before they could even start.
Jaune laughed at Ruby's antics and continued conversing with the two girls whilst having breakfast.
Not long later, an announcement was made by Glynda Goodwitch that initiation would start in an hour.
Jaune, Ruby, and Yang headed to the lockers to get their weapons.
In all honesty, Jaune could have just kept his weapon on him with his inventory.
But…nothing. He just wanted to put a weapon in his assigned locker. He was weird like that.
As Jaune took out the sword from his locker, Ruby saw it and was mesmerized as she ran to his side, leaving Yang on her own.
"Whoa!" said Ruby. She saw the sword Jaune took out of his locker. It was a simple white-bladed sword with a golden cross guard, a blue grip, and a round pommel. However, Ruby saw some sort of inscription within the fuller of the blade. It was a language she knows nothing about. Hence she couldn't read it.
Although the sword was simple in design. Ruby knew right away it was anything but simple.
"Oh? I see you like my sword, Ruby," said Jaune. Anyone who knows anything about weapons would be mesmerized by them.
"Where did you get that?! It's so pretty! Does it mechashift?!" asked Ruby. Thinking about it for a second…she thought it would be best if the weapon does not mechashift.
"It doesn't. Although I could have forged it with a secondary form, I wanted to make a simple-looking blade," said Jaune. He could have easily made the sword with the ability to change form, but he likes simple weapons as they are very reliable. No mechanism to ruin. And very easy to maintain.
"Well, I think it was for the best," said Ruby. She nodded at Jaune's answer.
"Can I ask you something?" asked Ruby. She wanted to know about the inscription on the sword's fuller.
"Sure," said Jaune. He didn't mind what Ruby was going to ask him. He already what she wanted to ask.
"The inscription…What does it mean? Or rather, what does it say?" asked Ruby. She has seen no such language before. Then again, even if she recognized it as Atlesian or Mistralian, or even Vacuan, she would not be able to read it.
"The inscription says, 'In their darkest hour. I burn brightest'," said Jaune. He smiled. He read the quote somewhere, but he doesn't remember where.
"What's the sword's name?" asked Ruby. Everyone she knows names their weapons.
"Eclipse," said Jaune. He smiled at the name. Why? Because of the color scheme of the sword, has nothing to do with the name.
"Eh? But it doesn't match the color scheme of the sword. Why would you name it that? Also, what does it do? Does it have a Dust chamber to fire Dust? Or is it just a normal sword?" asked Ruby. It did not make sense. Why not Daylight? That is more fitting for a white sword than Eclipse.
"Well, if you're lucky, you might see why I called it Eclipse during initiation. Although, it is highly unlikely that you would. As for Dust, I don't use any," said Jaune. Eclipse needs to be unsealed for its power to be released. None are strong enough on Remnant to make him unseal the sword. As for Dust? Why would he use it?
"I know that you said it would be highly unlikely, but I still look forward to seeing your sword in action," said Ruby.
Yang who heard what Ruby said nearly trip on her way to them. That sounded oddly sexual. But knowing her sister, that couldn't be the case. She was too innocent in Yang's eyes.
"Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation. Again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately," said Glynda over the PA system.
Hearing the announcement, Jaune, Ruby, and Yang headed to their next destination, Beacon Cliff.
Arriving at Beacon Cliff did not take long.
Jaune and the other students were standing on a platform they didn't know the purpose of.
"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest," said Ozpin. He took a look at each of the students in front of him. However, he took notice of Jaune more due to his sword. It was simple, be he can feel power emitting from it, but was faint as if it was being hidden or sealed away.
"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today," said Glynda. Many students groan at what they heard, but she ignored them.
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years," said Ozpin. He took a sip of the content of his mug to hide his smirk before continuing.
"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you may lose your life," continued Ozpin. The likely hood of the students dying during initiation was near zero. Not zero, but near zero thanks to all the teachers watching over all the initiates.
"You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene unless necessary. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" said Ozpin. He looked for anyone for questions, but no one raised their hands. He noticed that some had questions but was embarrassed to ask them due to no one else was willing to ask. This caused him to shake his head.
"Well then! Now, take your positions. And I wish you all happy hunting," said Ozpin. He once again took a sip of his mug. He looked at Jaune. He knew that the young man faked his way in. The transcript was very well made and was able to foul Glynda, but he was thousands of years, it took more than that to slip by him.
Everyone strikes a pose on their platform.
One by one, Ozpin shot the student into the air.
Jaune is the last one.
For safety reasons.
Ozpin hoped one of the initiates would help him, but he was shocked.
"What…?" said Ozpin. He was baffled.
As Jaune was flung into the air, he started flying.
"That's…Quite interesting. If he is a capable young man, why would he need to fake his way in?" asked Ozpin. He then shook his head. It was not unheard of for an untrained individual to activate their Aura and gain their Semblance.
Ozpin, however, felt as if he needed to keep a close eye on Jaune for now. So, he did, through his Scroll Tablet.
…
With Ruby…
She fired off a few rounds from Crescent Rose to slow her down, and turns the weapon into its Scythe Form to catch the branch of a tree in her blade and fall downward at a slower pace.
"Gotta find Yang! Gotta find Yang! Gotta find Yang! Gotta find... Yang! Yang! Oh, this is bad, this is bad... What if I can't find her? What if someone finds her first? Well, there's always Jaune. He's nice. He's funny! And I want to know the secrets of his sword! What about Blake?! So mysterious, so calm... Plus she likes books! Then again, I'm not sure I'd be able to hold a conversation with her... Ugh! Okay... Who else do I know in this school? There's Yang, Jaune, Blake, and...," she was interrupted as she met with a person she was hoping she would never bump into again.
Time seems to slow down as Ruby skids to a halt in front of Weiss as she is turning to face her. She stops just in time for their eyes to meet and a pregnant pause follows. This ends when Weiss turns on her heel and walks the other way.
"Oh, come on! How unlucky can I be?!" said Ruby. She hopes for anyone else now. It didn't have to be Yang, Jaune, or Blake. Just anyone but the crabby girl from the other day.
"Excuse me!" said the crabby girl named Weiss.
"You heard me!" said Ruby, crossing her arms on her chest.
…
With Yang…
Soaring right over the treetops, using her gauntlets and their fiery force to push her through the air further and further north, spinning and laughing with each blast, even when she crashes through the leaves of a tree and leaps off two trunks to tumble to the ground.
"Nailed it!" shouted Yang. No one was there to see her magnificent landing.
Yang started to walk around the Emerald Forest to try and find a partner…or Ruby.
"Hello~? Is anyone out there? Hello~? I'm getting bored here! Is someone there? Ruby? Is that you?" said Yang. She then peered into the bush that moved.
A low, inhuman growl is heard, and Yang's head rises as she stares at the creature.
"Nope! You're not Ruby," said Yang. She quickly rolls to the side as the Ursa charges out of the bush. She gets up and activates her Ember Celica, staring at the monster before another Ursa runs out behind her.
Yang leaps over the Ursa, and its companion runs at her again, only to get knocked back by a fiery punch. The other Ursa and Yang charge at each other, and Yang manages to get under it and deliver several punches and kicks to send the creature back.
"You guys wouldn't happen to have seen a girl in a red hood, would you?" asked Yang. She knew the creature wouldn't have answered.
One of the Ursa stands on its legs and swipes at her twice, Yang barely dodging the attacks.
"Geez, you two couldn't hit the broad side of a ba...," before Yang can complete her insult, a single strand of her golden hair falls in front of her face and lands on the forest floor.
"You...! You monster!" said Yang. She was enraged to see her hair cut off.
An inferno surrounds Yang for a moment, and she rockets forward, unleashing a devastating combo of flaming hits and blows on the offending Ursa, making it fly through several burning trees. The other monster runs over but stops short at her gaze while a tree falls to the ground behind her.
"What! You want some, too?!" shouted Yang. Still enraged.
The Ursa rears up and prepares to strike... right when a whirling noise is heard and the monster makes a befuddled noise, falling a second later to reveal Blake Belladonna with her Gambol Shroud in the beast's back.
Yang pants in exhaustion while Blake pulls her weapon back into her hand, sheathing it on her back and smiling to the side.
"I could've taken him," said Yang. Now purple-eyed again, speaks to her new partner over the smoking remains of the monster.
"Right…Sure, you did," said Blake. She smirked at Yang.
This caused Yang to have an eye twitch.
…
Back with Jaune…
He was enjoying the breeze on his face as he soared through the air.
However, he was enjoying it so much that he did not see that there was a red-haired beauty in front of him and slammed into her.
Now, the red-haired beauty in his arms, he looked at her emerald eyes and apologized.
"Sorry, about that. I didn't see you there…It's not every day you bump into someone in the air like this," said Jaune. This is the first time he hit someone in the air. It was a new experience.
"That's no problem. It's not every day you would think someone would hit you in the air as you fall," said the girl.
"I'm Jaune Arc," said Jaune. He looked at the girl in his arms and waited for her name.
The girl looked at Jaune and sensing if he was only being courteous or if he did not have an idea of who she is.
Upon concluding that Jaune did not know who she is, she introduced herself.
"I'm Pyrrha Nikos," said Pyrrha. She had a smile on her face.
Jaune looked at Pyrrha. Nikos? He heard of that name before.
"Nikos? Your mother doesn't happen to be Dahlia Nikos, is she?" asked Jaune. He remembered that she had a daughter the same age as him.
"Yeah, she is. How do you know my mother?" asked Pyrrha. This is the first time that someone recognized her mother over her…it was a refreshing experience.
"Oh, my Oum! It is you! Your mother would come over to our house when she has time since she was good friends with my mother! She would tell stories about her daughter's embarrassing moments. Like the story of when you guys went to the beach ten years ago!" said Jaune. He remembered all the stories that Dahlia would mention.
Going to the beach ten years ago? Pyrrha blushed hard at what she heard. She then paled as she remembered that time. It was the time she throw up on an old couple due to eating something she shouldn't have from the ground.
"P-Please don't tell anyone of my embarrassing moments!" said Pyrrha. As she was in Jaune's arms, she covered her face in shame. She couldn't believe that she is now partnered with someone that knew of her embarrassing moments' thanks to her mom.
"Relax. I'm not that kind of person. I just wanted to know if it is you that was in the stories," said Jaune. He then smiled at Pyrrha.
"Hold on tight…I'll speed up so we can arrive in the temple as quickly as possible," said Jaune. He sped up as he said, but there was a question he wanted to ask. So, he did.
It didn't take long for Jaune to arrive at the temple even at his slow flight speed...Well, slow to his usual flight speed. But there was something he found quite amusing.
In the air, Weiss and Ruby were clinging onto a Nevermore.
Jaune landed and stared at Ruby.
"Pfft! Ruby is quite bold to try and use a Nevermore as a means of transportation," said Jaune. He thought that it would be quite an interesting year if there are people like Ruby around.
"Uhm…Jaune?" called Pyrrha. She saw that Ruby was about to fall.
As Ruby let go of the Nevermore, she started to plummet to the ground.
Yang, who saw this was about to save her, but her descent was slowed down by the wind. It looked almost like the wind was doing so on purpose. She looked around and saw Jaune moving his hand along with the wind.
"Whoa! That's a cool semblance," said Yang.
"A what?" said Jaune. He never heard someone call magic semblance before. Is that what magic was called on Remnant?
"A Semblance. It is the manifestation of one's innate and personal power as an ability unique to each individual, with the effects varying greatly from user to user. You know, the power you get sometime after getting your Aura," explained Yang.
"Yeah, no. What I did was not my Semblance. I don't even have Aura, to begin with," said Jaune. He never heard of the power called Aura.
"Right…Wait, what?!" said Yang. She was confused. Jaune did not have Aura. She thought he was joking, but looking at his face, she could tell he had no idea what Aura was, or what a Semblance is.
"Uhm…Jaune? If you don't have Aura and a Semblance. How did you do what you did? Or how were you able to fly?" asked Pyrrha. She was curious.
"It's magic. With it, I can control different elements," said Jaune. He then showcased his elemental magic.
…
Ozpin, who was monitoring Jaune spat out the cocoa he was drinking.
"What?! How is he…?! This is not possible!" said Ozpin. He was shocked to see that Jaune was controlling the elements as if it was nothing.
"Ozpin. Who is he? How does he have magic?" asked Glynda. The first thing she thought was Jaune working for the enemy.
"Worry not, Glynda. I can alleviate your concern about him working for her. I know you are thinking that she must have given the young man magic, but I assure you she would do no such thing. As for how Mr. Arc has magic, that is a mystery for even me. But one thing is for sure, it isn't the power of the Maiden," said Ozpin. The power of the Maiden may control the elements, but only to a certain extent.
What Jaune was doing, forming the element with different forms, was not something a Maiden was capable of. Forming a tornado of fire sure, but a fire dragon that can breathe fire? Not a chance.
"If Mr. Arc isn't working for her, then it is in our best interest to keep him out of her reach," said Glynda. She worried. She did not want one of her future students to be harmed.
"The question is, would he even listen to us? Mr. Arc doesn't seem to be the type to heed warning if he was willing to fake his way into Beacon," said Ozpin.
Glynda was about to say something to Ozpin regarding doing such a thing, but he spoke before she did.
"Relax, Glynda. I saw potential in him. But I didn't think he had this much potential," said Ozpin.
Glynda stared at Ozpin. She didn't know if he was serious, or if he was only saying that.
Either way, Glynda was planning to mess with Ozpin to make sure that he does do such a stunt again.
What is the one thing that Ozpin hates the most? Paperwork.
Hence, Glynda was thinking of ways to make Ozpin busy with paperwork for the next six months. That should teach him to let people in without proper credentials. If the applicant didn't have the proper paperwork, they could have requested a special exam.
Glynda then looked at Ozpin, she asked a question.
"Ozpin, did you ever update the Beacon website to inform the prospective students that you could apply for a special exam for those that did not get to a prep school or a Huntsman or Huntress recommendation?" asked Glynda. She told him to update it two years ago.
Ozpin sweated. Because he didn't.
Seeing the look on Ozpin's face, Glynda already knew the answer.
What did Glynda do? She decided to use her semblance and toss Ozpin onto his tower.
The tower's window was open.
Unfortunately, Glynda missed the window and Ozpin created a new opening through the wall.
…
Back with Jaune and the others.
As Jaune used his magic, Grimm around the Emerald Forest converged on their location.
Hundreds of Grimm were upon them.
While Ruby and the others were planning a way to get out of the Emerald Forest safely, two people didn't want to, and they wanted to kill every single Grimm in their path.
It was Jaune and Nora.
Nora is a fair-skinned young woman with orange hair and turquoise-ish eyes. She wears a collared black sleeveless vest, with a blue central front section with red accents, her vest has her emblem, on the back. Under the vest, she wears a white sleeveless t-shirt with a heart-shaped cut-out above her breast line in the center accompanied by a pair of white detached sleeves on each arm, and a pair of light pink fingerless gloves. She sports a short pink skirt with a single white layer under it. Her white ankle boots sport pink soles with part of her emblem, the lightning bolt, on them and low heels with pink laces, the tops are folded over revealing the pink lining. She also wears a silver armor piece that wraps around her waist, under her breasts, and around the back of her neck with metal connecting each piece at the front.
Jaune liked her bubbly personality. It reminds him of his younger sister Olive.
"Well, while you guys decided to go back to Beacon, I plan to kill every Grimm here. It would be a good workout," said Jaune. Everyone looked at him as if he was crazy. He was someone without Aura. And he wants to kill Grimm.
"I'm with him! I want to kill me some Grimm!" said Nora. She did a pose to show she was ready to kill Grimm.
"Nora! These are not a few Grimm that we can just easily kill. There are hundreds of them. I don't think we could survive such a thing," said Ren.
"Pfft! I believe in Fearless Leader! He can do the impossible! I mean, did you hear? He said he can do magic! I bet he can even heal us with magic!" said Nora. She then looked at Jaune.
"Right?" asked Nora.
"Yup!" said Jaune. That's all he said.
"You are delusional! There is no such thing as magic! There is Dust! I bet you were using Dust when you showed off your so-called magic!" huffed Weiss. Magic? Please!
"Dust… Right, sure. Let's go with that. Why don't you show us how I used Dust to create a fire-breathing dragon made of fire with Dust," said Jaune. He rose an eyebrow at the crabby girl as Ruby would say.
Weiss was put on the spot, and she didn't know what to do. She did not have the capability of Jaune with Dust. How was she going to showcase such an ability with Dust?
"I…I can't," said Weiss. She had her head done.
"Well, then. What makes you so sure that it is Dust if you do not have such capability with it?" asked Jaune.
"I…don't," said Weiss. Ask Jaune questioned her, only a single push and she would be in tears.
Jaune saw this so he stopped. He was not someone that enjoyed seeing others cry.
Jaune would feel horrible if he made a girl cry. Or anyone.
Jaune looked at Pyrrha and asked.
"Are you going to fight the Grimm? Or are you going to head back to Beacon with the others? Either way, I plan to stay," said Jaune.
"What do you think are the chances of us beating all the Grimm?" asked Pyrrha. She didn't know, but she has a sense of trust toward Jaune.
"A hundred percent," said Jaune. He was sure that he could get rid of all the Grimm on his own.
"If that's the case, then I chose to fight by your side," said Pyrrha. She smiled and made her choice.
…
In the Auditorium back at Beacon…
"Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark. The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by... Cardin Winchester!" announced Ozpin.
The audience gives one more wave of ovation, while four students walk up to the stage to take their places in front of the headmaster as their faces fill the screen.
"Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR. Led by... Jaune Arc! Congratulations, young man," said Ozpin. He was thinking about how to speak to Jaune about his magic. When he saw what Jaune was capable of, he was shaking in fear. Even in his prime, he wasn't capable of such destruction with a single spell. Remembering the spell made him shiver.
"And finally. Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!" announced Ozpin. He was doing everything he can to remain calm and collected.
The entire time, NPR and RWBY did not react. They were still shocked at the devastation that Jaune caused during the initiation.
How?! How can a simple-looking sword destroy an entire mountain?
And Jaune…he was moving so fast that they couldn't even see a blur. All they saw was one second, the Grimm was fine, and the next second they were disintegrating.
How about the time that Jaune cut off the Nevermore's head without getting close to the Nevermore? He didn't even make contact! Yet! The Nevermore's head flopped to the ground the next second.
How?!
And then! There was a time when energy ruptured around a large area with Jaune as the center, causing the ground to rise in pillars, before rising into the air to form five enormous, light purple dragons above Jaune!
Weiss was a nonbeliever in magic not too long ago, but now, she believed!
