Present Day

Things had been great for Kyle since he moved in with his brothers. In the beginning, he was never sure how long he would be living with them, but two years later he was still here. He had worked through all the abuse he had gotten in the past, feeling a lot better about his life now, he'd even met someone new and eventually asked her to be his girlfriend after a lot of persuasion from his brothers. He didn't even think he would have started dating her if it wasn't for them, and they liked to remind him of that.

Surf Club - Angelo's

"Kyle, are you alright to man this place for a while? I've got a meeting with the suppliers to get to." Brax says to his brother.

"You know I will be. You made me manager so you didn't have to be here all the time, plus I've got Victoria around to help me." Kyle says, smiling over at his girlfriend.

"As long as I don't come back to this place being shut up just so you can spend some time alone together." Brax says as he picks the books up.

"That was one time and it was really quiet in here anyway with it being near closing time. It's not my fault you came looking for us." Kyle says.

"I went looking for you because you weren't answering your phone and it was gone midnight, which is when you normally get home." Brax says. "It's nice to know you two are still getting on really well though, no thanks to me and Ricky."

"You already know I'm grateful for what you did, but I didn't see the problem in waiting a little longer. She might not have been interested for all you know." Kyle says.

"You had been putting it off for months and I know Victoria well, she's the longest employee I've had here." Brax says.

"Yeah well you should be going before you're late." Kyle says, not wanting to be embarrassed about it again.

"Alright, see you later." Brax smirks as he walks out.

"What was that about?" Victoria asks as she walks around the bar.

"Just reminding me that he's the reason we're together. We're in charge while he's at a meeting." Kyle says, leaning against the bar next to her. "Oh and he's also made it clear he doesn't want to come back to the restaurant being shut up."

"Ah yes, the famous 'shoving us in the office to do fake paperwork' day." Victoria laughs. "I think we'd still be awkward around each other if they didn't do that though. Trying to get you to talk to me was like asking a cat to sit down. And that wasn't exactly our fault."

"I was not that bad!" Kyle frowns, then thinks about it. "Okay, maybe I was a little bit but you're a catch and I never thought you'd really want to date someone like me. It wasn't, but still."

"What happened to not putting yourself down? You're so handsome and I'm the one who thought you wouldn't want to date me." Victoria says. "I come from a family of cops and Brax made it clear he didn't like my parents. I'm surprised he even kept me on here when taking over Angelo's."

"What's up Restaurant Romance?" They hear from behind them, turning to see Heath grinning at them.

"Can you not call us that?" Kyle asks.

"Why not Kylie? You met here, you had your first ten dates here and your wedding is going to be here." Heath scoffs.

"No it's not!" Kyle huffs. "And our first ten dates weren't here, they were in Yabbie Creek. You should know that because you made sure to take Bianca to the same restaurant to embarrass me!"

"He's just messing with you." Victoria laughs. "Least he remembers where we met." She comments under her breathe.

"Oh yeah, where did you meet Bianca, Heath?" Kyle smirks, glad he could get one up on his brother.

"I don't see what that has to do with this. Now get me a beer." Heath says.

"That will be $10." Kyle says as Victoria grabs one from the fridge for him.

"$10?" Heath frowns. "Nah, I'm family I don't have to pay for a beer in our family restaurant and that's like triple what it is for anyone else." He says, taking it from her.

"Fine, then tip us." Kyle smiles. "I think it's the least we deserve after putting up with customers like you."

"Nice try little bro, you're not getting anything from me." Heath grins as he goes to sit at one of the free tables.

Despite everything he had gone through before moving to Summer Bay, Kyle was okay with the light teasing and name calling he got from his brothers. He knew they didn't mean anything bad by it and he knew they would probably be more careful around him if they knew about the abuse, and he didn't want that. Brax was aware of some of his past, and he was okay with that, he just didn't know what he'd do if it ever came out to everyone, he didn't even like to think about it.

He'd also got close to Casey not long after moving here either. As they were closer in age, they did a lot more together. Casey felt less left out of things with there being a bigger age gap between him and Brax and Heath, so he enjoyed finally being able to hang out with one of his brothers and have similar interests.

There was something a lot calmer in the atmosphere since Danny was put in prison. They knew they didn't have to worry about him coming back for Kyle since he was sentenced to 8 years in prison. They wished it was longer, but Danny made a deal with his lawyer - if he pleaded guilty he'd get 8 years rather than 20 years or more. They were still happy with the result though, it being long enough for them to forget about him.

"Oi Kylie, you free tonight?" Heath asks as he walks up to the bar again.

"I don't know yet, why?" Kyle asks, briefly glancing at Victoria as she goes to check on some customers that called her over.

"Bianca has some works thing tonight that I'm trying to get out of. I was going to use you as an excuse." Heath says.

"And there was me thinking it was to actually hang out." Kyle says.

"I was going to go surfing, unless you're going to finally take it up?" Heath says.

"Nah, you go. I'm sure if you told Bianca you didn't want to go, she'll be fine with it." Kyle says.

"She's already made me promise to go but if I tell her I'm with you, she'll be with him me not going." Heath shrugs.

"I just don't want you using me as an excuse just because you don't want to spend a night with Bianca and her work friends." Kyle says, having been used for it before.

"Geez if you're going to be such a girl then I'll ask Casey if he wants to go out instead!" Heath says as he walks out.

"What's up with Heath?" Victoria frowns as she walks back up to the bar.

"Annoyed because I wouldn't let him use me as an excuse to not go on Bianca's work night." Kyle replies. "It's his problem if he doesn't want to go. He's done this before, saying we'll go out for drinks instead and then bails at the last minute to hang out with River boys instead. I won't be covering for him this time if Bianca asks me about it."

"And so you shouldn't. Heath is a grown man and needs to tell Bianca himself if he doesn't want to go. But are you free tonight?" Victoria asks.

"Yep. I thought we could go into the city tonight if you wanted?" Kyle suggests. "There's a viewing on for that film you really wanted to see, and there's also a really nice restaurant which I think you'll love."

"Look at you the romantic." Victoria grins. "I'm so lucky to have a guy like you to call my own."

"So that's a yes to a night away from all of this?" Kyle asks.

"A million times yes!" Victoria nods. "Next you'll be asking me to marry you." She jokes, Kyle looking like a deer in headlights.

"Are you hinting that you want to get married?" Kyle mutters.

"No, of course not! It was a joke!" Victoria quickly says.

"So you wouldn't want to marry me?"

"I really would but we've already agreed that would wait a few years into our relationship before thinking about the really serious stuff. I'm extremely happy with our relationship how it is now. All I need is you." Victoria says.

"Okay, that's great to know." Kyle smiles, relieved that they were on the same page. "Anyway, why don't I go and book a few things for us tonight?"

"Sure, I've got this place covered for now." Victoria nods, them both kissing before Kyle walks towards the office to sort some things out.
