In the arena for Combat Class…
Jaune was facing Cardin Winchester.
It was a random matchup made by the computer.
This is quite unfortunate for Cardin as he was being manhandled due to Jaune being vastly more powerful than he was.
Why was Cardin being manhandled?
Because Cardin learned that Jaune did not have Aura.
The app in the scroll which detects Aura did not work for Jaune.
Cardin in all his wisdom decided to say that Jaune did not belong to a school for Huntsman if he did not even have the necessary ability known as Aura.
That did not anger Jaune in any way, but Cardin decided to mock his parents.
There were many mockeries told by Cardin regarding Jaune's parents. This did not fly with Jaune, and he decided that he was not going to show mercy to the little shit before him.
"M-Mercy!" said Cardin. He did not think that his words would backfire. In his mind, taunting and mocking Jaune and his family would have angered the man and lose his cool. But that was not what happened. As it turns out, Jaune was calm when angry.
The truth is, Jaune was angry, very much so, but the Gamer's Mind helped him keep his mind calm.
You see, the Gamer's mind would not force Jaune's emotions to disappear, it would only help him to remain calm and nothing more.
"Hmm…? Sorry, I did not hear that. What did you say?" asked Jaune. He heard it loud and clear, but he chose to ignore it.
"I-I said…," Cardin was not able to finish his words before Jaune's fist was in his face, sending him a few meters away.
As Cardin flew from the punch, Jaune used Bo-Bup and got behind Cardin and used Axe, a jumping axe kick combined with a front flip which creates a huge wave of air that lifts the opponent from the ground when the leg hits the ground and leaves them open for follow-up attacks.
As Cardin was lifted into the air, Jaune used Bo-Bup once more and followed it up with Fangs, a double downwards elbow strike that sends the opponent hurling to the ground.
Cardin was in serious pain. His ribs seem to have been broken from Jaune's hits, it should have been impossible since he still had Aura.
Looking at his scroll, it was only now that he realized that his Aura never went down.
That's because Jaune was resonating his attack with Cardin's Aura. Doing so caused that attack to bypass Aura. The immensity of resonating his attack with the natural frequency of someone else Aura is beyond what the people of Remnant are capable of. But Jaune was someone who traveled to different worlds without even knowing it, believing that Create Instant Dungeon was merely creating a copy of the world within the comics that he used as a catalyst.
…
In the spectator area, team RWBY was watching the match with wide eyes.
"How did he do that? How was he hurting Cardin without lowering his Aura?" asked Wiess as she looked at her team leader and teammates. It did not make sense to her. Aura was supposed to take the damage for its wielder.
"Don't ask us! Who are we going to ask?!" said Ruby. How would she know how Jaune was able to do what he does? She can't!
"Right…sorry," said Weiss. She realized the people she asked were just as baffled as she was.
"Disregarding Weiss' questions, I didn't think Jaune had such a side to him. I saw him as this carefree person that wouldn't allow anyone's words to affect him in the slightest," said Blake. Although, she couldn't deny was hot when he beat down Cardin.
"You know, while all of you have these questions about Jaune, I already have all the answers to them," said Yang. She nodded at her words.
"What do you mean?" asked Ruby. She didn't understand what her sister meant.
"Go on, ask me a question about how Jaune is capable of doing what he did to Cardin. I have the answer for all of it," said Yang. She then smiled at her sister.
"Okay…Yang, how did Jaune bypass Cardin's Aura?" asked Ruby. She didn't know why her sister believes she knows how Jaune was able to do what he did to Cardin.
"He's Jaune, Ruby," said Yang. She smirked at her sister.
Weiss already realise what Yang meant when she said that she has the answer to how Jaune was capable of what he did.
"You can't be serious, Yang. Is that going to be your answer to everything? Because he is Jaune?" said Weiss. She sighed at her partner's sister.
"Hey! Don't knock it till you try it," said Yang. If there is anything Jaune does out of the ordinary when they ask how the answer is simple, he is Jaune and nothing more.
…
Not far from team RWBY was Jaune's teammates. They were more relaxed than team RWBY.
Well…Ren and Pyrrha were relaxed, as for Nora?
"Go! Fearless leader! Kick his ass for bad-mouthing your parents and family!" said Nora. If she had a family, she would kick the ass of anyone that dares to badmouth them. She would show them no mercy and break their legs!
"Nora, calm down," said Ren. He sighed at his long-time friend and crush.
"No way! I'm supporting Fearless Leader! No one messes with family and gets away with it!" said Nora.
While Ren and Nora did their usual antics, Pyrrha was intently watching Jaune as he bypassed Cardin's Aura with every hit.
"Jaune is truly an enigma…It's already been a month and Jaune's surprises have yet to cease," thought Pyrrha. Within the month of knowing Jaune, she has been drawn to him more and more. She wants to get to know him on a deeper level.
"Dang it! I think Nora was right…I might have the hots for Jaune," thought Pyrrha. At first, it was a harmless joke, but there is this thought in the back of her head that says it is not untrue.
"But he already has Tiamat, and I think he might even be doing his sister and her wife in Argus. He seems to head there a lot every week. He seems satisfied and with the smell of women all over him. Then again, he might have been doing it with Tiamat. But there was a time he went over to his sisters without Tiamat…This is all so confusing," thought Pyrrha. She was having a hard time understanding her feelings.
…
Back in the arena…
"That's enough, Mr. Arc. I don't know how you're doing that, but I think Mr. Winchester can no longer fight. He is only a hit from succumbing to unconsciousness," said Glynda. As she said those words, Jaune smacked Cardin. She sighed, then looked at the spectators.
"Now, normally there are no such circumstances during the tournament-style combat, Mr. Winchester would be able to continue if he dares to do so, but we can all see that this is an abnormal situation. In tournament-style combat, if your Aura is in the red, then you are eliminated. Again, please know that there is nothing to worry about during the tournament, and such circumstances as today will not happen," said Glynda. She would have to speak to Ozpin about what happened today.
"Remember, everyone, the Vytal Festival is only a few months away! It won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale! Mr. Arc, if you choose to participate, please do not do what you did to Cardin," said Glynda. She sighed at Jaune. He was normally a very easy student to deal with, but today was something she didn't think she would have to witness.
"Do not worry, Miss Goodwitch, I am normally a very amicable person. Insulting me would do nothing. However, insulting someone I care about? That is another altogether. As long as the students from the other kingdom do not do such things, then we are all good," said Jaune. He walked to his friends.
Glynda sighed. She would have to put a warning to the other kingdoms to not insult anyone during their stay at Vale and Beacon.
The bell rang, indicating the class was over.
Glynda said a few words before asking Cardin's team to bring their leader to the infirmary.
…
Ozpin's office…
Ozpin is watching the security cameras around Beacon as he needed to make sure that nothing was going on. The students from other kingdoms were coming and he did not want to deal with international issues that arise from his negligence towards security.
As Ozpin did his job, Glynda entered the room.
"Ozpin, we need to talk about setting up a few instructions for students arriving from different kingdoms," said Glynda. She had no time to greet Ozpin as she would normally do. This was important and needs to be dealt with.
Ozpin looked up from the screen of his holographic computer and looked at Glynda.
"Hmm…Why? I don't think there would be any issue that may arise from the students," said Ozpin. He didn't have many troublesome students besides CRDL, but other than that, none.
"Mr. Arc showed me otherwise. The man attacked Cardin," said Glynda.
Glynda's words went over Ozpin's head. Attack? Yeah, it is combat class after all.
"He attacked Cardin with the ability to bypass Aura. He did so after Mr. Winchester insulted Mr. Arc's family. I believe it would be safer if we put a rule of no insulting other participants, or better yet, they are all banned from insulting anyone in Vale and Beacon as long as they are here as a guest," said Glynda. She would rather have the instructions be overkill than have an international incident because someone couldn't keep their mouth shut.
"That can't be done, Glynda. You know that would be taking away the freedom of speech," said Ozpin. As much as he would like to make sure that Jaune did not attack the other students, he just knows that taking the freedom of speech from others would be more of a headache than asking Jaune not to attack anyone.
"I guess you're right. It's easier to talk to Mr. Arc than do all the things I was thinking," said Glynda. As much as she was afraid Jaune would attack other students, he was far easier to deal with than others. As long as you ask nicely, he would try and accommodate your request.
Ozpin nodded at Glynda.
Jaune with all his capability was not arrogant nor does he believe himself as superior. He simply likes to do what he wants as long as no harm is being done to others.
"By the way, Ozpin. I've been meaning to ask you this for a while now. Who is the person with Jaune all the time? The poor thing…I don't know how someone could do such a thing," said Glynda. She mistook Tiamat's retracted horns for one that was cut off.
"She isn't a Faunus," said Ozpin. However, he did not clarify.
Glynda was curious.
"Ozpin, what are you not telling me?" asked Glynda.
…
In the Bacon Cafeteria…
"So! There we were, in the middle of the night..." said Nora.
"It was technically in the day," corrected Ren. It was in the day; they merely were in a place that was night.
"We were surrounded by Ursai! Dozens of them!" said Nora. She was doing a gesture that indicates many.
"But they were no match! And in the end, Ren, Pyrrha, and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs!" said Nora.
Weiss, Yang, Blake, and Ruby were looking at Ren, waiting for him to make the corrections to Nora's stories as he has done in the past month.
"What?" asked Ren. He didn't know why team RWBY was staring at him.
"Aren't you going to make corrections to Nora's stories?" asked Yang. She was waiting for what happened.
"There is nothing to correct. What Nora said was true," said Ren. He did not lie, nor was Nora's story fabricated.
Weiss looked at Ren with an inquisitive look.
"I highly doubt the story is real. For one, Grimm leaves nothing behind when they die. How would Nora be able to sell Ursa skin rugs?" said Weiss. She didn't believe that it is possible. Unless, maybe, you are called Jaune.
Nora listened to Weiss with a smirk on her. She then took out something. She brought it just for this.
"No, way…" said Yang. She was looking at an Ursa skin rug.
"B-But how?!" asked Weiss. She couldn't believe it.
Ren and Nora looked at each other and said one thing.
"Jaune," said Ren and Nora.
Weiss' eye twitched when she heard their answer. Of course, it had to be Jaune. Who else could it have been?
"Sweet! How much are you planning to sell it for? I want to buy it," said Yang. Ursa skin rug on their dorm floor? That was epic.
"Oh, don't worry about it. You guys would be having a chance to get your own," said Nora. She smiled at them.
Team RWBY looked at Nora with excitement.
Jaune was letting them have a chance to get stuff like Ursa skin rugs? Count them in!
"So? Where is Jaune anyway?" asked Yang. She hasn't seen him after the combat lesson.
"We don't know," said Pyrrha. She shook her head as she spoke.
"Fearless leader said he needed to do something," said Nora. She did a gesture that indicated she was thinking.
"Knowing Jaune, he should have gone to Argus," said Ren. He remembered that when Jaune disappears, he would normally be with his sister in Argus. Like Pyrrha, Ren suspects that Jaune is fornicating with his sister, not that he minded. None of them did.
"Argus? That's many miles away. It is close to Atlas. How on Remnant is he going to get there and back before our next lesson?" asked Weiss. No bullhead would be able to get to Vale and Beacon within an hour.
"Don't you just remember? Jaune-Jaune is capable of flying. What you guys probably don't know is that Jaune is faster than you think when he is flying. I should know, I asked him for a ride. It was pretty fun," said Nora. Going to hypersonic speed is quite fun in her opinion.
"Ooooooh! I wanted to have a chance at that! No fair!" said Ruby. She pouted and crossed her arms.
"You can always ask Jaune-Jaune for a flight. I doubt he would decline. Except maybe when he is busy with something," said Nora. She couldn't see any reason for Jaune to decline Ruby's request for a flight.
Hearing what Nora said, Ruby became excited. She wanted to know what it feels like to be in the air without any enclosure. To fly freely…sort of.
