A few days later, things were going well again. Kyle hadn't seen Phoebe since she first turned up in the Bay, so hoped she had left for good. Victoria had a lot of questions over their relationship, and Kyle was happy to answer them. He didn't want her to be kept secret from anything, but he still didn't tell her about the abuse he got in the past. That still remained as his and Brax's private matter. He was just glad Victoria didn't feel threatened as they were so strong together.
Braxton House
"Morning." Brax says as Kyle walks out, instantly grabbing some things from the fridge before placing them on the side.
"Morning." Kyle smiles. "Where's everyone else?"
"Heath and Bianca have taken Darcy to the diner, Casey and Denny went to work about an hour ago, and Ricky's behind you." Brax says, his girlfriend having just come in from the garden.
"Morning." Ricky smiles, taking a seat next to Brax at the table. "How are things with you and Victoria?"
"Great." Kyle says, lightly blushing as Ricky smirks at him.
"Sounded like it." Brax muttered, slightly shaking his head. "And next time you both want to stumble into the house at three in morning extremely boozed up, try to make it to your bedroom before going at it like rabbits."
"Sorry, we don't mean to be so loud." Kyle says, blushing even redder this time. "And we did make it to the bedroom first, so that can't have been us." He adds.
"So explain how I had to pick clothes up from the floor this morning after finding them sprawled all over the floor and through the hallway?" Ricky says.
"Enough of that!" Kyle complains, not thinking he could go more red if he tried.
"Well it's good to know this Phoebe chick hasn't come between you both." Brax says.
"Yeah, things have still been pretty great. And I haven't seen her around, or even heard from her since, so she's probably skipped town already." Kyle says.
"She's not going to be causing trouble around here if she never left, is she?" Brax asks.
"Phoebe? No, you've got nothing to worry about there." Kyle says. "She probably got the hint when I said I was with Vic or one of us would have seen her around by now."
"Are you sure that's it?" Ricky asks, sensing something up with him, then Victoria walks out in one of Kyle's shirts, kissing him.
"Babe, you said you were coming back to bed." Victoria grins.
"I was getting breakfast, but you're out here now." Kyle says.
"Well how about we just head back to bed then?" She smirks, walking back to their room with a slight skip in her step.
"Kyle, why are you acting weird?" Ricky asks, sensing something was up with him.
"Because I don't need my exes around town when I have a girl like Victoria." Kyle says.
"You said there was nothing to worry about with Phoebe in town." Brax frowns.
"There isn't but I don't think Victoria will feel great if Phoebe is brought up in conversation, or even if we bump into each other again." Kyle says. "Now can I get back to my girlfriend?"
"Yeah, we'll be out surfing." Brax says as he stands up.
"Great." Kyle smiles as he walks back to his room with some of the food and drinks.
"They're so cute together." Ricky smiles as they go to get their boards.
"I stick by what I say, she's good for him." Brax says before they both leave for the beach.
Braxton House
"Are you sure something's not up with you? You've been pretty quiet since talking to Brax and Ricky." Victoria says.
"I'm fine, just pretty tired from last night." Kyle smiles, although he wasn't convincing himself, so didn't know how he was going to be able to convince her. "Although everyone else is out, it's just us here. How about we eat our breakfast then make the most of that?"
"How do you know someone won't be home in that time?" Victoria asks.
"Well I don't, but that's half the fun. Plus I'm sure I could get my brothers to stay out longer if I tried." Kyle smiles. "And if they don't, then we could go out and do something."
"What do you have in mind?" Victoria asks as she takes a bite from a bagel.
"I'm not actually sure. I was half expecting Brax to ask me to cover a shift but he never mentioned anything. Neither of us have a shift until tomorrow night, so how about we go into the city for the night? There's that restaurant you saw that we never got to check out last time we went." Kyle says.
"You're making quite the habit of doing spontaneous things like this, aren't you." Victoria smiles.
"Just keeping things interesting." Kyle smiles. "So what'd you say?"
"Yeah, okay." Victoria nods. "This isn't just you trying to make it up to me for your ex showing up the other day, is it?"
"No, not really. I just want you to know it's you I want, and it always will be. I've loved these past few days with you and it's made me realise even more how much I love you. We've got something special." Kyle says.
"I know we do and I don't ever want things to change. I trust you, Kyle, and you don't need to keep trying to make up for her turning up. You couldn't have known she was going to turn up like that, or that she was going to try and break us up within minutes of turning up." Victoria says.
"Yeah, I guess. I'm just glad it didn't ruin things between us. You're so understanding and I've never been with someone like that before, it's great."
"Well all I know is that you're all mine, and that's not changing. I love you."
"I love you too." Kyle smiles, kissing her on the lips. "So should we stay at the same hotel as last time or do you think we should get one closer to the restaurant?"
"I liked that hotel, it's so different from all the others I've been to. You wouldn't think it's in the heart of the city, it's so quiet there!" Victoria says. "And it's also around the corner from the shopping centre, so maybe I could have a very quick trip to it while we're there."
"Quick? You don't know the meaning of the word!" Kyle laughs. "Last time you wanted to go to the shopping centre for one shop, and we ended up being there for the whole day!"
"So sometimes I get a bit carried away, but it's so easy to lose track of time." Victoria laughs. "How about we spend some time at the shopping centre, and then some time doing something you want to do. Like⦠Well what would you want to do?" Victoria asks, not really sure as he always wanted to please her when they went away.
"I'm not sure. You've got to remember about our shifts tomorrow afternoon and I don't think Brax would be happy being two staff members down. So maybe we could just hang out at the hotel or something. Or we could decide when we're there to make things a bit easier." Kyle suggests. "And so we have some more time to do what we want, we could leave just before lunch so you can spend the afternoon at the shopping centre."
"Okay, that sounds like a better plan. Then we could go for dinner tonight and see what happens tomorrow morning."
"Exactly." Kyle smiles. "So let's finish up this breakfast and then pack a few things up. I'll also call Brax to let him know what we're doing in case they were planning anything, which is unlikely."
"Also let him know that we'll try to be back in time for our shifts, but the traffic may be bad if we don't leave early enough."
"Good point." Kyle nods, grabbing his phone from the side to do it before he forgot.
He didn't know why, but everything always seemed a lot better when he was around Victoria. He never had a brief thought of abuse from his past, and he never had a thought about whether she was capable of doing the same. He knew he wouldn't have gotten this far without Brax's help. His brother had helped him realise what normal relationships should be like, and the traumas he went through shouldn't have to affect his life any longer.
There were days when he wasn't feeling as great, and those were the days that usually involved an argument between someone. He had ways to get through them, whether he took himself out of the situation, or focused on something else. They were all taught to him by Brax. He never actually thought about why his brother knew so much about it, and he wasn't sure if he really did want to know, he was just grateful for all the advice he got from him about things.
