Surf Club - Angelo's

"I've got to head off, are you going to be okay here?" Brax asks his brother.

"Yeah, although I was wondering if I could get off a bit early? Vic's gone to meet her parents for the day so I thought it would be the ideal time to ask Phoebe to leave the Bay." Kyle says.

"Have you seen her today?" Brax asks.

"Nope but Casey said he saw her asking about me in the diner, so I'm expecting her to show up at some point before the end of my shift." Kyle replies, hoping it will be that easy.

"Okay, that will be fine then. Just make sure she leaves like you wanted and call me if you need a hand getting her away." Brax says.

"I will, thanks." Kyle smiles as Brax walks out.

Kyle had no idea what he was going to say to Phoebe. She was stubborn and got jealous easily, but he thought she was engaged, so got confused as he thought about it. He knew that was something he was going to have to bring up and maybe try and convince her to go back to whoever her fiancé was. And before he knew it, he was broken from his thoughts and she was standing on the other side of the bar. He wasn't due to finish his shift for a while, or was even due a break yet, but he didn't want her hanging around.

"Heard you've been asking around about me." Kyle says.

"Yeah. How about we talk over some drinks." Phoebe says, walking over to a free table as he poured her a glass of wine before joining her. "Where's your drink?"

"I'm on shift so I'm not drinking." Kyle says as she takes a large sip of her drink. "So why have you been asking around about me?"

"Just as inquisitive as you used to be, not much has changed. I was just wondering if anyone had seen you because I wanted to catch up. Is that such a crime?" Phoebe asks, staring at him.

"Of course not. But on the subject of things not changing, I heard you were engaged, what happened to that?" Kyle asks, and he notices something changes in her gaze.

"It wasn't working out. We wanted different things, and you've always been the man for me, so here I am." Phoebe smiles.

"Phoebe, I've told you many times since you turned up here, I'm happy with Victoria. Why can't you just accept that?"

"Because you two aren't meant to be together, we were made for each other. I'm not here to argue, Kyle, so let's just change the subject. What've you been up to since we last saw each other? Those brothers of yours are new." Phoebe says, taking another large sip of her wine.

"After we broke up, I moved straight here and haven't been anywhere else since." Kyle lies, not wanting to go into too much detail with her. "What about you?"

"Mainly doing gigs around Melbourne, and even a few in Adelaide. I had a gig in the city and then got wind of you being nearby." Phoebe says.

"You got wind of it? How?" Kyle frowns.

"Does that matter? I thought we could catch up."

"Phoebe, you didn't come here to catch up, else you wouldn't have been so horrible to my girlfriend." Kyle says.

"You can't be serious about her? She so different and-"

"The only girl I need. I love Victoria so much and nothing you say is ever going to change that. I haven't been more serious about my feelings for someone before."

"Blah, next conversation!" Phoebe rolls her eyes.

"Do you know what, I've got to get back to work." Kyle about, about to stand up when she grabs his arm.

"Please don't leave, we can talk about other stuff instead." Phoebe says. "Like how we used to have so many good times together."

"Yeah." Kyle mutters, pulling his arm away as he notices Victoria walk in, smiling as she sees him. "Hey Vic." He smiles, kissing her on the lips as she joins them.

"Hey, I thought I'd come and have lunch with you on your break but I see you're already busy." Victoria says.

"How about you join us?" Kyle suggests.

"No, it's okay. You two have fun." Victoria says with a smile.

"We will." Phoebe smirks at her.

"No, it's fine. We were just talking about nothing in particular, and we can have lunch afterwards." Kyle says.

"Okay." Victoria says, ignoring Phoebe's glare as she sat down.

After those amazing days she had with Kyle, she wasn't the slightest bit jealous over them hanging out together. She saw them as two friends, and also exes, remembering old days despite how much Phoebe was trying to make her jealous. She knew there wasn't something right with Phoebe, she was trying too hard trying to get back with Kyle even though he'd told her many times they weren't getting back together.

"We had the best dates when we were together. Remember that skyline view we had for our third anniversary?" Phoebe says. "Ooh, or maybe the road trip to the National Park when we spent the entire week at the lakes together."

"Yeah, we had some good times then." Kyle says, knowing exactly what she was up to but he knew it wasn't getting to Victoria, which he was glad about. "But I'm having better times now and making new memories with Victoria. It doesn't matter what memories from our past you bring up, it's not going to work."

"Why are you getting so defensive then? It's like you're realising what you really want." Phoebe says. "How many good things can you say you've actually done together?"

"We've done a lot of great things together. And yeah, maybe there are some places that me and Vic haven't been to that would be great for us, but we've got the rest of our lives together. I love Victoria." Kyle says, staring firm at Phoebe, not wanting her to try and ruin things any more.

"Fine, I can see things aren't going to be nice here so I'm leaving." Phoebe says, finishing the last of her wine before standing up, and Kyle breathes a sigh of relief. "But don't worry, this won't be the last you see of me. I'll be staying in town another night. Maybe we can catch up again another time, just us though." She says before walking out.

"She's becoming really full on now." Victoria says as she twists to face Kyle.

"Tell me about it." Kyle rolls his eyes. "I was hoping she'd get the hint and leave, but now I'm thinking that Brax is going to have to get involved. He said he'd make her leave town, and I think he's got more chances than I do now."

"How come she isn't listening to you? Is there something more to her that you haven't mentioned?" Victoria asks.

"I don't know. She's always been really stubborn and liked things her own way, I just never thought it would get worse as time went on. I don't remember her ever being this bad." Kyle says. "And am I just not showing how much I love you, or something? Do I need to show you more affection when she's around, maybe even propose to you so she knows it's serious between us."

"Babe, slow down." Victoria smiles. "We shouldn't have to rush anything in our relationship just because of your crazy ex. And I don't think you could be more affectionate if you tried. We love each other, I think that's all that matters. And if we have to put up with her being around town for longer just because she can't get the hint, then that's fine. What's the worst she could do?"

"Maybe murder us." Kyle jokes.

"Just don't let her get in your head because we're strong together. If you think you need Brax's help to get her out of town, then do it. He knows just as much as us how good we are together, and there's no way he could say no to his little brother on something so serious. It would make you happy, which is something he'd want for you." Victoria says, smiling at Kyle's face.

"What is this weird bond you and Brax have?" Kyle asks.

"We just get on well, is that such a problem?" Victoria laughs.

"A little too well sometimes. Maybe me and Ricky should be together instead, give you and Brax a chance." Kyle jokes, laughing as she shoves his arm.

"I don't think Brax could deal with me as a girlfriend, he can barely deal with me being an employee."

"Yeah, some of these arguments you have are over more stupid things than I could think of. Weren't you two arguing about who took a longer break the other day?" Kyle laughs.

"Hey, I was on a double shift that day!" Victoria smirks.

"That reminds me, I've still got a while until my next break. Do you wanna hang around for a bit to keep me company or are you going to head off?" Kyle asks as they walk over to the bar.

"I'll stick around, I've got nothing better to do." Victoria says, taking a seat at the bar.
