It had been a fair few days now since Kyle and Phoebe last saw each other in Angelo's. He knew she was still in town, and refusing to leave, despite Brax making a few attempts to get rid of her. He was lost for more ideas, now just waiting it out until she decided to show her face again. He was just glad things were still great between him and Victoria, and so were the rest of his family.
Summer Bay Beach
Kyle had spent the morning down on the beach with Victoria before his shift. He was meant to have been working a double but managed to swap it after a lot of convincing. After he'd gone up for his shift, Victoria stayed down on the beach, planning on seeing if one of the girls were free to hang out for a while. She was about to go up and get herself a drink when she bumped into the last person she was expecting to see.
"What a wonderful day it is today." Phoebe smirks.
"What're you after now?" Victoria asks as she puts her bag over her shoulder.
"Just wanted to have a chat with you." Phoebe shrugs.
"About what?" Victoria asks, slightly frowning at the evil glint in her eyes.
"If you think Kyle is the man of your dreams, the guy you want to settle down with and start a family with, then think again. He'll get what he wants, which by looking at you will just be sex, then he'll move on to the next slut. I'd walk away now if you had any brain in that head of yours." Phoebe says.
"We love each other and I know he wouldn't do that to me." Victoria says.
"Does he really love you? Does he do spontaneous things like booking getaways, taking you on all sorts of adventurous dates, or does he just do the same old boring thing all the time to keep you interested in him?" Phoebe taunts.
"You have no idea what you're on about. We actually do a lot of spontaneous things together and he's done plenty in our relationship. We don't need to be like other couples to know we love each other. You don't know him like I do." Victoria shakes her head.
"Don't I? I have dated Kyle before you know. And you can ask all of his other exes, there's plenty of them." Phoebe scoffs. "You're just another chick he is using for sex, and as soon as he's done with you, he'll be looking for his next mission. I'm surprised he's stayed with you this long to be honest with you." Phoebe says.
"I'm not listening to this." Victoria glares, walking away up the beachfront.
Surf Club - Angelo's
"Hey Vic, I thought you were going to be hanging out with the girls the rest of the day?" Kyle asks, placing down the glass he had just finished cleaning.
"I was but then I had a visit from Phoebe." Victoria says, her blood still boiling at the encounter.
"Really?" Kyle frowns, seeing Phoebe had just walked in, sitting at a table near the back of the restaurant.
"Yeah, she was saying a lot of horrible things actually." Victoria says as Kyle leads her to the office.
"Like what?" Kyle
"I know we said our pasts never mattered, but how many exes have you had?" Victoria asks, feeling her stomach turn at the thought of saying it out loud, she didn't know why she was letting Phoebe get to her so much.
"Only a couple. Why are you asking?" Kyle frowns.
"And you always took them for nights away when things started getting boring in the relationship or whatever?"
"Vic, where is all this coming from? You know I do that stuff to keep you happy, so we can spend time together without worrying about being in a house full of people." Kyle says.
"And what about when you start getting bored of things?" Victoria asks.
"Bored of what?"
"Our relationship. Are you going to leave me for someone else who can give you more entertainment?"
"Seriously Vic, what the hell has Phoebe been saying?" Kyle asks, hating that it was getting heated between them. "You know I could never get bored of our relationship, I love you so much."
"That doesn't answer my question. What happens when one day you wake up and decide that you don't love me anymore, or I don't give you enough?"
"You're being ridiculous. You know that I could never get bored of you, you've been the best thing to ever happen to me." Kyle says, confused about what had been said about him by Phoebe.
"And what if another girl came along that was a lot prettier than me, would you decide that you want to be with them instead?"
"No! I wouldn't look at another girl and think that because I have you!" Kyle groans, getting more confused by the second "What do I need to do to prove to you that you're the only girl for me?" He asks.
"Be truthful with me." Victoria says. "You know, now that I think about it, a lot of things in our relationship have been a mystery to me. You've always lied to me about your past, you've even got Brax to lie to me about it. And it just makes me wonder what those lies are. Are you going to tell me now, or are you going to give me more lies?"
"Please, Vic, don't make me do this." Kyle pleads. "There is nothing about my past that affects our relationship, it's just really personal stuff."
"I am your girlfriend!" Victoria shouts. "When we first started going out I told you everything about me, I didn't keep anything a secret and I thought you told me everything as well!"
"I know, and I'm sorry that I've been keeping some stuff a secret, but you're not the only one. Brax is the only person I told because it's not something I want going public." Kyle sighs, not wanting to bring it up now either.
"Has it got something to do with Phoebe? Is that it?" Victoria asks.
"Why does this keep coming back to Phoebe?" Kyle asks.
"Geez, I don't know Kyle! How about the fact that I'm now realising how long I've been fooled for thinking you were some great guy, and that's only been since your ex came to town! So what number girlfriend is she? Cause she sounded pretty certain you've had plenty of them in the past." Victoria says.
"She's lying to you, Vic! What happened to us being stronger than anything she could throw at us?" Kyle asks.
"That was said before I realised how stupid I had been trusting you. You've been lying to me since the day we got together and unless you tell me the truth now, we're done." Victoria firmly says.
Kyle didn't know what to do. He didn't want to tell her the truth, knowing it would get out between more people and there was no way he was ready to deal with the fallout from something like that. But he also wasn't ready to lose Victoria. She was the first girl to make him feel special and capable of having the life he wanted. Now it was crumbling away chunk by chunk.
"I'm sorry, I'm not ready for it to come out yet." Kyle says.
"Then I guess we're over." Victoria says.
"No, Vic, please don't break up with me!" Kyle sighs. "I really want to tell you, I do, I'm just not ready yet. We can work through this, I know we can."
"No we can't, Kyle. You're still going to keep secrets from me and that's not the type of relationship I want to be in."
"You won't even give us a chance to sort this out?" Kyle asks.
"How can we sort this out if you won't be truthful with me? I'm not asking for a kidney, I'm asking for you to just tell me the truth." Victoria says, not thinking she was asking for a huge deal.
"And I've said I'm not ready for people to know yet. You know I don't want to keep this from you, but it's for the best."
"Then it's best if we break up. Get used to it." Victoria says before storming out.
Kyle suddenly felt so alone, unable to think straight about what happened. They had always gotten through everything that had gone their way before and it scared him knowing he couldn't go and talk to Victoria about it. She was always the first person he went to about stuff, unless it was about his past abuse, and now he couldn't do that. Phoebe had spun her lies, taunted her about their relationship, and now they had broken up. It wasn't something he was ever expecting, and now he wished they had done more to get rid of Phoebe before it led to this.
