Chapter 5 – come back home
5 years later
Lexa was now on her 4th tour. She had been deployed for 6 months this time only 8 more to go now. Anya had finally told Clarke 4 months and even though Clarke knew Anya telling her brought up feeling she didn't know she had about it. She was scared, she still loved Lexa and wanted her to come home.
She had been secretive for the last 3 months; she had been going to the studio working on a project. It was as much for herself as for people she doesn't even know.
She had called the gang as they were called as she wanted them to join her at a show she had organised.
"What is this show about does anyone know"
Mumbles of "no" and "who knows" where heard.
They all go take their seats as Clarke walks up to Anya.
"Hey, can we talk"
"What's up kid"
"You're only 2 years older them me I'm 24, nearly 25" she said with a little laugh
"Anyway, I need you to do something for me. When you told me Lexa was deployed it scared me, this show is for those with loved ones in the military. I would like to dedicate this to you and your mum for Lexa. So would you and your mum sit with my mum."
A teary "yes of couse we would"
As Anya went to get her mum and sat next to Abby, Clarke got ready to sing the song about the one thing that scared her most. She walked onto the stage ready to help those who knew how she felt.

They had just gotten back onto base when Lexa received a text from Anya
AW: put on channel 6, you need to see this.
Lexa was confused but walked into the communal tent.
"Someone put on channel 6, my sister said there is something for us"
The channel was quickly switched on. Every eye in the room on the tv. Just as she got to her seat to sit down Lexa heard the voice that makes her heart hurt.
As Lexa stared at the stage she could see Clarke, looking beautiful, she was in black skinny jeans a white t and her dads old army jacket. For a second Lexa found herself wishing it was her jacket Clarke was wearing. She snapped out of that thought when she heard the blonde begin to talk.
"I'm dedicating this song to all those who have served and those who currently serve in our forces. When I was 12 my dad was deployed to Afghanistan, he never came home, I've never delt with the pain or how I felt about it. Until recently I just shut it all out. Then 5 years ago someone important to me enlisted, recently they were deployed and I just want them to know no matter what, I want you to come home"
"ohhhh the princess has herself an Army boy" Murphy one of the guys in Lexa's unit shouted
Lexa laughed at this getting looks from her unit. "she's gay murphy you idiot"
The whole room erupted with laughter. "Well, she's still doing this for us all so we love the princess, shame your so shut off commander, you could have a shot" more laughter, Lexa had to force a smile, she knew she had already blew that chance.
Clarke started talking again. "I have some people here tonight who id like to welcome to join me on stage, first my mother, Abby Griffin. Secondly one of my best friends Anya, and her mum Indra, their daughter is currently deployed." At this Lexa felt herself go numb her jaw was so wide it was almost on the floor. This didn't go unnoticed by her unit.
"Cat got your tongue commander" Rory teased laughing.
"that's my mum and sister" she said to everyone shock. The room just went silent.
With the room silent everyone turned their focus back to the TV just as Clarke was introducing the song.
"This is called Come back home. I hope you like it"
She took a deep breath before adding, "Lex if you see this, this is for you, please come home." Lexa didn't realise all eyes in the tent on her as she was fixed on the blonde girl on the TV.

Photos started playing on the backdrop behind Clarke, photos of families with there loved ones in uniform. There was one of Lexa, Anya, Raven, Octavia and her mum at her pass out ceremony.

As Clarke finished the song a photo come up behind Clarke, it was the same one Lexa always carried in her pocket. Lexa felt the tears start to fall as she realised it was all out in the open, she was the idiot who let Clarke go.
"Woah, commander, you dated the princess, all those songs where about you. Why didn't you ever say anything." Maddie said in complete shock "I feel like an idiot it made you listen too all her songs and you never said a word"
"I let her go, I need to go I will see you all in the morning" with that Lexa stood and walked out the tent.
Clarke
As she finished the final photo came up, it was of her and Lexa, one of her favourites. She could feel the tears on her face. She quickly thanked everyone and ran off the stage. She got in her car and when to the only place she could think of. The beach.
At the beach she reached for her neckless, pulling it up she had her father's dog tags and a ring she had carried for a year after Lexa left. She realised in that moment she would always love Lexa. An idea popped into her head so she pressed record on her phone and stared to sing from the heart.
4 months later
Lexa come too trying to sit up only to be stopped by the weight of something on her chest. Scared Lexa grabbed the mystery weight only to hear a scream. Suddenly the was swung open to see Anya and Raven come running into the room. Lexa then looked to her side. Her heart stopped when she saw the scared dark blue eyes looking back at her. How is this possible she thought, this must be a dream in not here. Closing her eye all the memories come rushing back.
48 hours earlier
Lexa and her unit where on a mission to recover a captured comrade. Full combats on, the unit moved as one, well-practiced over the last 10 months. Only 2 months left in this shit hole Lexa thought. Everything was going to plan, then Lexa heard the scream, Quint had been hit in his leg.
"Ryder, Murphy get Quint to safety. Rory, Maddie on me" Lexa shouted her commands.
They rounded the corner and it went to shit. Lexa felt a pain in her left leg as a knife was thrown into her thigh, then she felt the warm running down her abdomen, she had been shot. Everything went black. All she could feel was the pounding her body was taking. All she though was that she was going to die. She told Clarke she would come home; she promised Anya she would come back she missed her family she missed the woman she loved the most.
Present day
The room was silent, Clarke sat there waiting for someone to say something, the Dr walked in feeling tension in the room he cleared his throat.
"Hello Commander Woods"
"Its Major, sorry for the confusion it's a nickname Sir"
"No worries, Woods. You are now back in the States. You were injured quite bad, you were shot in the abdomen, you have broken ribs. We removed your spleen; however, the worst is your left leg. We have done surgery on it but it will take a long time to heal. It was broken in 3 places and you had a deep stab wound."
Lexa looked around the room, everyone else already knew this information but it was new to Lexa. She was in shock. Yet again she tried to sit up only this time it was a hand to her shoulder to stop her. She looked up to see Clarke was now stood over her with her hands on the brunette's shoulder pushing her back down. She looked into the blue eyes; she went to say something only to be cut off with soft lips on hers.
The kiss was soft and gentle, she kissed her back until she tasted tears, she pulled back to see the blonde was crying. "I almost lost you; I told you I can't lose you. It might have been 5 years ago but I never stopped loving you, I always asked about you"
Clarke went in to kiss Lexa again, Lexa pulled back, "I'm sorry I can't" just then the door opened and in came a beautiful dark-haired woman, she looked worried, her Army uniform was immaculate.
She rushed over to Lexa and grabbed the brunette in a tight hug, kissing her on the forehead. "Lex, you fucking scared the shit out of me, i remember you saying after last time this wouldn't happen again"
"Again, Lexa what the fuck. And who are you" Lexa heard Clarke shout. As the blonde stared don't, he dark haired girl.
"I'm Lindsey, I am the commanders….."
Lindsey was cut of but Lexa putting her hand over hers shaking her head no. Clarke noticed this and felt her heart break all over again. Of cause Lexa had a girlfriend.
"I should go. Was good to see you Lexa." With that Clarke walked out the room.
As Clarke left Raven and Anya came back into the room. "Why did Clarke just walk out of here like someone broke her favourite guitar."
Raven stared at Lexa waiting for a response when Lindsey caught on, "fuck that was Clarke, shit."
Anya could see Lexa was about to break so shouted at everyone to get out the room. Once everyone was gone Anya walked over to her sister and held her as she let out all the emotion, she had held onto for 5 years being away from the blonde.
Outside the room Raven had Lindsey against the wall by he neck. "What the fuck did you say or do"
"Nothing I was about to tell the girl, who I now know is Clarke, that I am the medic on Lexa`s unit but Lex stopped me, I`m sorry if I hurt your friends' feelings. I can see why Anya wants to marry you your fisty"
