Hello, bots and cons. Centurion Maximo here and welcome back to Young Justice: Their War, Our World! This chapter may make people hate me, no matter how well written it turns out to be. Anyway, in the last chapter, the Machination attacked River City and mostly succeeded, grabbing a few civilians to experiment on in the process. What could this mean? Also, what is Project: Andromeda?
Now, back to the action!
*Happy Harbor. Mount Justice. 12:45 pm*
The League and Team were not having a good day. The Machination managed to snatch some people while attacking River City. Now, they were getting slandered on the news by Ms. Guigillone. "Though the League did save the city, they failed to stop the Machination. Failed to stop the Machination. Failed." They shut the news off.
"Attention Autobots, this is Cliffjumper. Can anyone read me?" Cliffjumper asked on the comms.
"Cliff? Is that you?" Blurr asked excitedly.
"Blurr? You speedster! Is anyone else with you?" Cliffjumper replied.
"Yes! Optimus is here as well!" Blurr responded happily.
"Thank Primus! I'm with embersting and a human named Perdita Vladek." Cliffjumper informed.
"Send your coordinates. King Vertigo will stop at nothing to ensure his niece's death." Blurr said.
"I'm transmitting coordinates now." Cliffjumper said. Everyone looked at the coordinates and saw Cliffjumper and Embersting were in Seattle.
"Blurr, you and Bumblebee will go to Seattle and provide backup for Cliffjumper and Embersting." Optimus ordered.
"Yes, sir!" The two transformed to their vehicle modes and sped off.
Suddenly, the alarms went off. Everyone but the bots ran to check it out. "The Machination's attacking Happy Harbor again!" Dick exclaimed.
"Seriously?! Conner threw his arms up in frustration. "With Red Tornado on their side, it's gonna be even harder to take them down!"
"There's also reports of a new Machination member with a katana slicing up people." Dick shuddered.
"I'll check that out." Batman stated. "It doesn't seem to be a Decepticon, I don't think."
"Alright, but be careful. If there's any sign of him being a bigger threat, get out of there and call for help." Superman reminded, to which Batman nodded.
*Happy Harbor. Seaside Cliff. 17:34 pm*
Batman was chasing the newcomer to the cliff when the latter stopped. "You must be very foolish to face me."
"Who are you?" Batman demanded.
"I am Bludgeon." Bludgeon introduced with an emotionless expression. "You are my latest target." He unsheathed just one of his swords and brought out a kanabo.
"I understand you're foolish to openly attack innocent people." Batman got into a fighting stance. Both were staring each other down intensely for two minutes before charging.
Batman attacked first by throwing batarangs at Bludgeon who evaded them easily, but this gave Batman an opening to hit Bludgeon in the stomach with a strong sidekick and bonk him in the head. Bludgeon was momentarily disoriented, but he managed to shake it off. However, Batman had another opening and used it to deliver a hard punch to his patella.
However, Bludgeon, while on his knee, hit Batman in the stomach with said knee which knocked the dark knight back a bit. Bludgeon took this opportunity to get a couple punches to Batman's face in. Each blow from both combatants felt hard. "You are impressive in hand-to-hand combat." Bludgeon suddenly complimented before unsheathing his swords. "But how are you with real weapons?"
Batman never let his guard down as Bludgeon unleashed a few slashes which the former evaded. The dark knight quickly threw a smoke pellet right in front of Bludgeon's eyes, momentarily blinding him. Throwing more batarangs, a couple managed to cut Bludgeon on his cheek, left hip, and even the right side of his neck. However, this didn't really deter the man that much, completely ignoring the bleeding. Bludgeon proceeded to slash Batman in the right thigh which made him hiss in pain. Suddenly, he managed to grab one of Bludgeon's swords and began sharing slashes with his opponent. While Batman was a very skilled warrior in his own right, but Bludgeon was proving to be a very difficult opponent to fight against.
Case in point, Bludgeon proceeded to slash the dark knight's chest with his sword, causing it to bleed. "You are indeed skilled, but not skilled enough."
"That remains to be seen." Batman retorted while hitting Bludgeon in the side of his head, disorienting him again which allowed the bat-themed superhero to make a slash on his left leg.
*Happy Harbor. 17:59 pm*
Wreckage was taking shots at the city in his tank mode while the Reds were wreaking havoc with the Team and League, even Red Tornado. Amazo and Mister Twister were staying at ground level. Tornadoes, fireballs, and whirlpools were popping up all over the city. Hellcrest was firing missiles in her helicopter mode, breaking down buildings. The Team and League minus Batman were dealing with the battle. Even the Bioship was getting in on the action as it slammed into Hellcrest, knocking him to the ground and causing him to transform to robot mode.
Techwerx was dancing with Strobe who was grinning wildly. "It's hard to believe you slipped by me last time!"
"I'm a squirrely one!" Techwerx retorted as she grabbed some metal junk and combined them into a pulse rifle. "Take this!" She fired her new weapon, making Strobe slip up and fall over.
"We have to take care of them and help Batman!" Superman reminded as he flew down and pushed Amazo into some cars when his guard was down.
*Happy Harbor. Seaside Cliff. Batman & Bludgeon. 18:45 pm*
Bludgeon had unfortunately gained the upper hand on the dark knight, but Batman had gotten quite a few good hits in and landed another one when he slashed Bludgeon's side. The latter saw this and his expression initially changed to angry. He lunged at Batman who dodged attacks from Bludgeon's kanabo. Suddenly, with a few precise hits, Batman broke the Kanabo.
Obviously, Bludgeon was legitimately surprised at this, but he wasn't done. He jumped into the air and landed hard kick after hard kick onto Batman's body, cracking his ribs. The last kick involved both of his feet which sent Batman skidding backwards in deep pain. Coughing up a little blood and clutching his chest in heavy pain, he was able to look up and see Bludgeon walking towards him, katana in hand. "Die." was all Bludgeon muttered as he swung his sword around a few times before plunging it right through his heart.
Time seemed to stop for the League and the Team as they witnessed what Bludgeon just did/ All Batman could do was gasp, cough up more blood, and stare at the sword protruding out his backside. Minutes later, after giving a last, actually heartfelt look to Robin, the light in his eyes, though under a mask, left him as his hands stopped grasping the weapon and fell to his sides.
Bludgeon kicked the new corpse off his sword and into the ocean, but Superman retrieved it before that happened and stared Bludgeon down with a hate-filled glare, but Bludgeon's eyes slightly unnerved him enough to back off. They looked cold and dead, those eyes. The latter turned to stare at everyone and they were angry and scared at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Machination members and Decepticons present were beyond shocked at what they were seeing. "Bludgeon, withdraw!" Wreckage ordered. Bludgeon started walking, but not before he stretched out his hand and Batman's utility belt flew towards him. He then attached to his hip like a prize and walked through the ground bridge. After that, the League and Team gathered around Superman cradling his fallen friend's body.
Suddenly, Batman's left hand started moving, albeit weakly. "L-Live on. F-Fight the good fight." He sputtered, blood leaking down the sides of his mouth.
"We will." Green Arrow said quietly.
"R-Robin..." Batman groaned, prompting his surrogate son to come to his side. "I-I never showed t-this, but I-I've always been p-proud of you. C-Continue to make me proud, e-even after this..."
"I will." Robin, promised, taking his mentor's hand and clasping it. Batman actually smiled gently before letting out a final breath and slumping to the ground, dead.
"What do we even do now?" Wonder Woman asked, tears pooling in her eyes.
"We have to do our best to honor him and take the Machination down." Superman said, sadness pure in his voice.
Everyone was trying their damndest to not weep, but it wasn't enough as everybody let out tears, either silently or vocally. Robin just fell to his knees, tears pouring from his eyes underneath his mask.
*Gotham City. Crime Alley. 21:00 pm*
A tall man with a slightly disfigured face with short black hair wearing a red hood was looking at his phone and gasped in utter shock. "It can't be…" He looked down at his hands. He tried his hardest, but a single tear fell from his eyes.
*Outer Space. Cybertronian Spaceship. 23:12 pm*
A white, red, and yellow Autobot with a pair of swords had just reached Earth. "So, you're here indeed." The ship then made a beeline for a secluded area on the planet. This Autobot seemed to have a decisive purpose.
Hello, everyone. Despite what happened, I hope everyone liked this chapter of Young Justice: Their War, Our World. Yes, what you just read has happened: Batman has been killed by Bludgeon after a grueling fight between the two. This may be the darkest chapter I've ever written since Bumblebee's death at the end of Dustformers: Season 1. The Machination and Decepticons have scored a critical victory in this chapter thanks to Bludgeon.
Also, Cliffjumper has revealed himself to the other Autobots. In the end, another Autobot is seen in space with a ship. Most people should know who it is based solely on the swords. Another thing is we pay a tiny visit to Gotham City where we see Red Hood aka Jason Todd who finds out that Batman is dead and is shocked. So far, the only good thing in this chapter is that Cliffjumper's made contacr with the Autobots, Blurr and Bumblebee heading off to his location.
The Justice League are being slandered a little further by Megan Guigillione. If you think Megan Guigillione is a Machination member in secret? Let me know.
