With things moving fast in their relationship, Phoebe was now sure Kyle was with her for the long haul. She thought it would have taken a lot longer to convince him that their relationship was real like it used to be, and she couldn't help but laugh at how gullible he was. Kyle believed everything she said, and she didn't even know how when she couldn't even convince herself half the time.
Although she hated living in Summer Bay. She couldn't have thought of a worse place to live. She was a city girl, she liked the hustle and bustle of a busy city, the loud noises, the rush of people. There wasn't any of that in the Bay. She couldn't even get that in Yabbie Creek, she hated it there just as much. Her goal was to move back to Melbourne, she just had to convince Kyle it was the thing to keep their relationship going.
She had left many hints at least a dozen times a day but she couldn't sense them working. Kyle just shrugged them off or replied with things he found great about the Bay. He used to be a city boy, liking it just as much as her as he used it as a means of escape. Since living in the Bay, he found that it was a lot better, more peaceful and quiet, something he grew to love. But there were parts he thought were similar, like how it was impossible to bump into some people even if you knew they were around. He hadn't seen Victoria since the break up, and he wasn't sure how to feel about it.

"Kyle, we need to talk." Phoebe says as she sits down on the bed in front of Kyle.
"Sure, what about?" Kyle asks, sitting up a bit as he takes his headphones out and puts them on the bed next to his phone.
"I think it's time we go back to Melbourne to stay for a while. It's getting too much being here and it's not good for us. We need something more exciting to fuel our relationship and this place is not it. There's some things I need to sort out but then I can get on to booking the flights. We're going to be back in Melbourne by this time tomorrow, starting our new lives together." Phoebe grins.
"What? No, Phoebe. I meant it when I said I wasn't going to leave this place, it's my home. If you want to go back to Melbourne for a couple nights, then that's fine, but I'm not moving back there. I don't know how many times I have to say that to you before you understand it." Kyle says, frowning as she stands up on the bed from where she was sitting.
"Are you serious?" Phoebe glares. "How could you stay in a dump like this and call it home? I'd rather go and live downtown from our apartment in Melbourne than stay here, and you saw how retched that place was!"
"It's not a dump and I'm not going to argue with you. I live here, and that's where I'm staying. We want different things, so maybe being in a relationship isn't for us. It didn't work in the past and it's not going to work now." Kyle says, trying to keep his breathing at a steady rate so he wouldn't start freaking out more.
"It didn't work in the past because you ran off without telling me and made me track you down to each place you ran to! You're so pathetic, no wonder Danny disowned you!" Phoebe snarls.
"And I'm glad he did, so use that against me all you want because it doesn't bother me. And you should have gotten the hint that we weren't good for each other. You got too much and I don't want my life here to be ruined again. Is that why you came here, cause you knew I wouldn't run from this place as well?" Kyle asks.
"Danny may have mentioned you were now living with your half brothers before he was arrested. Some of the stories he told me about it were so hilarious!" Phoebe laughs. "Like that one about you having a full on meltdown when he got drunk and your big brother had to come and rescue you like a child. Now that was my favourite one."
"You haven't changed." Kyle sighs, wondering how he couldn't see it sooner, but he had fallen in love with her all over again. He knew that was just lies and manipulation, but she made him feel like it was the new her.
"Are you questioning who I am?" Phoebe glares.
"Of course not, but you promised you wouldn't mention my dad again, but here you are. I think we need to take some space for me to think over som-"
Kyle's breath was suddenly blown right out of him as Phoebe swung her leg forward, right into his ribs. He lost all senses, not expecting her to get physical with him like that again. She was shouting a lot of stuff at him, but all he could focus on was the searing pain in his side. He curled onto his side, clutching his sore ribs as he tried to get some air back into his lungs, and when he started focusing back on reality, he noticed Phoebe had run out of the room in anger. This wasn't good, he knew it wasn't.

Kyle still went to his shift later that day. His ribs were killing him and he was starting to get a pretty huge bruise covering a large part of his right side where Phoebe kicked him. His ribs weren't broken, he was sure of that from all the times he'd had ribs broken in the past, but he was sure they were bruised. He found it so painful to work, even with the painkillers he took before leaving the house, but they weren't working as well as he hoped. And to make it worse, Brax had noticed something was up.
"You've been slouched over and taking it slow since you got here, what's up?" Brax asks as he stands in the doorway of the storeroom, where Kyle was checking the stock to occupy himself from the pain.
"Nothing." Kyle shakes his head.
"The truth, Kyle. I thought we were doing better now." Brax says.
"We are. I was running late for my shift, so I walked too fast to get here and got a stitch. It'll pass soon." Kyle lies, not daring to look at Brax as he knew he'd be caught out for lying, he always was.
"You know I'm not bothered when you're late, cause you've always made up for it by working a bit extra. So are you going to tell me the truth or what?" Brax asks.
"Brax, it's the truth. I know I've made up for it in the past but I'm trying to prove to you that I do want this job as a manager, and managers aren't late to their shifts." Kyle says, hoping it was enough, and sure enough it was.
"Okay." Brax nods. "Is there any stock that's low? I'm about to order some more things in."
"It all looks good, just the usual stuff." Kyle says.
"Great, I'll get on to it. Could you go into the kitchen to get Casey's order? He called up earlier and said he'll be in soon to get it but I might not be out when he arrives." Brax says.
"Sure, that's fine." Kyle nods as Brax then walks to the office to get the order placed while Kyle heads to the kitchen.
He lost track of time while he was in there, needing to be nudged out of his trance so he could get Casey's order out to him. His brother was already waiting by the bar with Denny, both of them talking to Brax, who had walked out moments before him. He could see the relief on their faces as they glanced over to him, and he wasn't sure what that was about, they weren't keen to say either.
"We're going to hang out on the beach and watch the sunset just like our first date. It's going to be so romantic." Denny grins.
"And it's going to be the perfect night for it as it's meant to be a really clear night." Casey says, having checked ahead to make sure it would be perfect for them, glad to see it was.
"Still no plans of coming home yet then?"
"Not yet." Casey shakes his head. "Maybe soon but we'll see how things go. Anyway, we better head off, see ya."
"I'm about to head off as well to meet up with Ricky, are you going to be okay here?" Brax asks as he grabs his phone from the bar.
"Yeah, I'll be fine."
"Alright, call me if you need anything." Brax says before walking out, leaving Kyle to go into the office to take some more painkillers.
