Hello, bots and cons. Centurion Maximo here and welcome back to Young Justice: Their War, Our World. Well, this is it. The main event! I think some people were waiting for this one. In the last chapter, Optimus Prime revealed that he can use the Matrix to revive Batman despite Bishop's protests, but Amazo overhears this and no doubt goes back to the Machination with this information.
Meanwhile in Vlatava, King Vertigo recieves a gift in the form of a headpiece that will be able to affect Cybertronians as well as people, courtesy of Professor Ivo. In Metropolis, Lois Lane becomes a Blue Lantern after a blue lantern ring appears in her apartment.
Now, here comes possibly the longest chapter in this story!
*Unknown Location. Bludgeon. Unknown Time*
Bludgeon was training as per usual. He'd single-handedly given the Machination a massive opportunity that they were taking full advantage of, but he suddenly started thinking back to a person that wasn't too thrilled about the news.
-Flashback Start-
*Unknown Location. Bludgeon & Ra's Al Ghul. 23:30 pm*
"I'm impressed with your skills, Bludgeon." Ra's commented.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Bludgeon asked, noticing Shiva in the background.
"I am Ra's Al Ghul, leader of the League of Assassins." Ra's introduced.
Bludgeon nodded in understanding. "I see. What do you want with me?"
"I'd like for you to join the League of Assassins." Ra's offered. "You could be a big boost to our morale."
"NO!" Suddenly, Talia Al Ghul walked into view with a very pissed off expression. "Why would you even think of inviting this murderer into our fold?!"
"Daughter, Bludgeon could be very valuable…" Ra's began, but his daughter cut him off.
"This man killed my beloved!" Talia shrieked her heart out.
Ra's stopped when he heard his daughter. The Detective… dead? "Is that true, Bludgeon?"
"Of course. He was the enemy and I disposed of him. His corpse is probably eaten by now." Bludgeon answered nonchalantly, pissing Talia off even more.
"I see." Ra's said quietly. "If that's the case, then you are not welcome here."
"Are you kidding?" Bludgeon was confused. "Batman was your enemy from what I've heard. You should be jumping for joy at this news."
"How dare you!" Talia screamed angrily. "Get out!"
"Very well. If that's how you feel, I will take my leave." Bludgeon gave Shiva one last look before taking off. After Bludgeon left, Talia dropped to her knees and broke down, crying over her beloved being dead.
-Flashback End-
*Unknown Location. Bludgeon. Unknown Time*
"Hey, Bludgeon. We're heading back to Happy Harbor. The Autobots are planning something big that could cut off our advantage." Blightshot informed.
"Alright. Let's go." Bludgeon said calmly, grabbing his swords and walking out with Blightshot. "This time, they all die."
*Happy Harbor. Mount Justice. 01:32 am*
Optimus Prime had Batman's body set perfectly on the ground. "I need to focus completely, without any distraction." Suddenly, an explosion happened right next to the mountain. "The Decepticons."
"How the hell did they even find out what we're doing?!" Blurr shouted.
"They must've been listening in." Arcee realized. "They're not taking any chances on keeping Batman dead."
"We've got to fight." Ironhide said as he began walking outside along with the other Autobots save for Optimus, the League save for Wonder Woman and Superman as they chose to be with Batman, and the Team save for Robin went out with them.
"Let's do this." Green Arrow was ready with an arrow set up.
"For Batman." Black Canary growled.
Once the entrance opened, everyone went into battle. Black Canary unleashed a sonic scream that sent Hellcrest, Lucas, and the Terror Twins back.
Superboy and Miss Martian were toiling with Mammoth and Shimmer. Shimmer was waiting for Superboy to let his guard down fighting her brother and then strike. However, Miss Martian wasn't having that and telekinetically lifted Shimmer off the ground and a few feet away from them.
Bishop was duking it out with Wreckage who just let Bishop's shots bounce off him. "You think that's gonna work on me, Bishop?"
"Nope, it's just a distraction!" Bishop called out. "Now!"
All of a sudden, Ironhide slugged Wreckage in the faceplate, sending him crashing into Flamewerx. "Apologies, Flamewerx."
"It's nothing, Wreckage." Flamewerx said as he unleashed his fire shots at Artemis and Green Arrow.
"Damn it! We can't do anything as long as this guy's got us cornered!" Artemis yelled. However, a red arrow struck Flamewerx in the side and exploded, making him cease his bombardment. The archer duo looked up to see Red Arrow standing on top of a flipped over car.
"Roy!" Green Arrow smiled.
"Heard there was a party I wasn't invited to." Red Arrow smirked as he shot another explosive arrow at Blightshot which made her step back.
Unfortunately, Red Tornado, and Red Inferno flew in and performed a combined attack of her fire in a wind funnel created by Tornado. The resulting blast sent fire all over the battlefield, even reaching where Superboy and Miss Martian were fighting. Immediately, Miss Martian began feeling the effects of the fire, giving Shimmer the chance to kick her to the ground. She smirked, but that didn't last long as Techwerx sent a motorcycle her way.
Meanwhile, Bludgeon and Drift were clashing swords. "We meet again, Deadlock."
"As I said before, that mech died a long time ago." Drift growled.
"Before this day ends, you and him will be dead." Bludgeon said, kicking Drift in the chest and sending him back a couple of feet.
"Tsalb Erif!" Zatanna chanted and shot a fireball at Toxwing who couldn't dodge in time. So, the fireball partially singed her armor.
"You'll pay for that, human!" Toxwing fired multiple blaster shots at Zatanna who wasn't even there anymore. "Where'd she go?"
Zatanna reappeared behind the Decepticon. "Tsalb Erif!" Another fireball hit Toxwing in the back, knocking her down.
Wreckage fired a missile barrage at the ground, knocking Billy Baston off his feet. The Decepticon was quick to grab the boy to make sure he didn't try anything. "Any last words, little boy?"
Billy groaned in pain before he smirked. "Just one. Shazam!" Within seconds, the boy became Captain Marvel.
"How did you do that?!" Wreckage demanded.
"Trade secret." Captain Marvel kept his smirk as he shot lightning at Wreckage, knocking him into an abandoned building.
Mister Twister and Red Torpedo did a combo attack of their own, combining a tornado with water to create a mini-hurricane. Aqualad however, used this to his advantage and channeled his water bearers to redirect the water back at the enemy. "Aqualad! Keep the water going!" Captain Marvel shouted as he got an idea. Shooting lightning at the water, Captain marvel managed to shock most of the Machination Decepticon forces.
"Thanks for the boost." Strobe grinned as she shot shock beams from her arm-mounted guns. "When was Strobe able to do that?!" Bumblebee exclaimed, firing his plasma cannons before switching to his stingers.
Up in the air, a hooded figure was creating a construct of a missile which hit Toxwing who had toaken to the sky. Toxwing went down back to the ground as the figure created more missile constructs and shot them at Blightshot, Flamewerx, and Hellcrest, though Thunderclaw flew at them at high speed. Luckily, the figure made a new construct of a net, stopping the Mini-Con dead in his tracks.
Back inside Mount Justice, Optimus Prime was channeling the Matrix as a neon blue light shone in the area. "This has to work. It has to." Wonder Woman whispered. Robin didn't make a single sound. All that could be heard was the humming of the Matrix interacting with Batman's body. Superman was admittedly nervous, but how couldn't he be?
*The Afterlife. Unknown Time*
Optimus was floating through a void with pure white clouds, coming upon a gate. Passing through it, he found Batman sitting on a cloud. "Bruce."
Batman looked to his left and saw Optimus standing there. He was shocked. "Optimus? How are you even here?"
"That's a tale for another time." Optimus said. "You need to come with me."
"I can't." Batman lamented. "I've caused nothing but pain to everyone."
"That isn't true. Everyone misses you and are broken without you." Optimus said. "Your surrogate son Grayson, wants you back badly. You may think you've failed, but you've succeeded at more than you can imagine."
Suddenly, two silhouettes appeared. They were Bruce Wayne's parents. "Bruce, go with him." Thomas urged softly.
"But…"
"You've done so much good for Gotham, if not the world, sweetie." Martha cut in. "Besides, it's not your time."
"Mom… Dad…" Batman had tears threatening to pour out of his eyes. His parents hugged him tightly.
"Go, Bruce. Continue to do good." Thomas smiled.
"I will, Dad." Batman nodded with tears finally leaking out his eyes.. He then floated with Optimus and back to his body in the real world.
"We'll always be here for you, Bruce!" Martha shouted. "We love you, Bruce!"
*Happy Harbor. Mount Justice. 04:12 am*
Batman's heart began beating again. Wonder Woman gasped, hoping this wasn't a trick of her mind. His eyes opened up, but not too fast. "Was- Was I dead?" Bruce asked slowly, getting up at a slow pace.
Clark didn't know how to answer that without being blunt, but Diana, tears of joy pooling in her eyes, answered Bruce for him. "Yes." Suddenly, Diana hugged Bruce tightly, surprising him. After a couple of seconds, he hugged her back.
His gaze went to his surrogate son. "Robin… Dick, I saw your parents. They told me that they are very proud of you and they said hi." Dick had tears forming and a smile growing. There was no need for him to say anything.
"Welcome back, buddy." Clark smiled, shaking a little.
"I am glad to see you alive and well once again." Optimus smiled under his faceplate.
"How did you do this?" Batman asked, shocked that he was brought back to life.
"A story for another time." Optimus said. "Right now, we must help our friends with the battle raging outside."
"Let's go." Batman got up slowly.
"Easy, Bruce." Superman held him up for a couple of minutes.
Outside, a great battle was still taking place. So far, it was a standstill, but the Machination and Decepticons were slowly gaining the upper hand. Most of the League, Team, and Autobots were pinned down by enemy forces. Bludgeon was walking slowly towards Green Arrow who was pinned down by debris. Once he reached Green Arrow, Bludgeon raised his sword. "Now, you die like your friend!"
"NO! OLIVER!" Black Canary screamed, reaching her hand out despite being pinned down by Stormflow and Bitterfang.
Suddenly, a batarang knocked Bludgeon's sword out of his hand which he picked back up instantly. Everyone looked to see Batman standing there with Superman, Wonder Woman, and Robin right beside him. "Not today."
"How are you still alive, human?" Bludgeon growled.
"I had a little help from my friends." Batman grinned, shocking everyone present that he would say something like that.
"Funny, considering you shut them out all the time." Bludgeon retorted, but he sensed something. "Wait a minute, there are small traces of energy from the Matrix… Optimus Prime…"
Optimus Prime walked into view. "Surrender, Bludgeon."
"Never…" Bludgeon growled deeply. "I destroyed you all by killing this human. Allow me to do it again." Suddenly, Blurr sped in with Flash and Kid Flash, managing to disarm Bludgeon of his swords. "How dare you, Autobot! You desecrate my swords by touching them!"
"Can it, ya piece of scrap!" Blurr shouted.
"Check it out, souvenirs." Kid Flash grinned. Suddenly, Bludgeon stretched out his hand and his swords began floating back to him until Superman flew in and grabbed them.
"You won't be killing anyone ever again." Superman said with his signature stern glare.
Bludgeon raised an eyebrow. "Oh, no?" He did some strange motions, and a few seconds later, created a neon blue katana of pure energy. Bludgeon slammed the energy katana into the ground and used the distraction to reclaim his swords and retreated.
"What the hell was that?!" Kid Flash shouted.
"He's gone!" Bumblebee was a little shocked at what just happened.
"How did he do that?!" Superboy yelled. What no one noticed was the Scion XB transforming to robot mode and aiming its weapons right at the group.
Green Arrow was the first one to notice that. "We missed one!" However, just as it was about to fire, a blue construct of a drill bore through it and it exploded. "Who the hell did that?"
"I did." A new voice declared. A figure floated down wearing a white hood and white and black and blue uniform.
"Whoever you are, thank you for helping out." Superman stretched out his hand. The figure started giggling. "What's so funny?"
"Come on, Clark. You should recognize me from my voice." The figure took off the hood, revealing herself to be Lois Lane.
Superman's brain came close to short-circuiting. "L-Lois?!"
"I told you all will be well, Clark." Lois cupped Superman's cheek softly with a soft smile. Superman was still too shocked to say a single word other than her name. He began sputtering incoherently, to which Lois giggled again.
Meanwhile, Artemis and the others were looking over the remains of the broken Decepticon. "What is this?" Artemis asked.
"It's one of Soundwave's drones!" Shade exclaimed.
"Drone?" Aqualad raised an eyebrow. "This isn't a real Decepticon?"
"Not really, no. You could think of it as a decoy." Shade responded.
"How bout let's focus on the fact of Prime's plan working." Jazz smiled.
"Once again, Prime, you've proven me wrong." Bishop sighed. "I'm sorry for doubting you."
"I know you've lost hope in a lot of things, Bishop, but maybe now you can try to hope again for a better future." Optimus put his hand on Bishop's shoulder strut.
"See, Dick?" Zatanna smiled. "I told you it would work out."
"You were right." Robin smiled. "Thanks for keeping me hopeful."
*Isla Santa Prisca. 09:00 am*
The Machination and Decepticons weren't really happy seeing Batman alive again. "The scanners have picked up a signature matching that of one of Soundwave's drones!" Strobe exclaimed.
"We must retrieve the drone before the Autobots!" Venomsting screamed.
"Too late for that. The Autobots already have it." Stormflow cut in.
"That's not good." Lucas commented. "Anyway, where is Dr. Desmond?"
"On a special assignment in Bialya." Wreckage said. "One that could prove a new advantage to us if he succeeds."
*Bialya. Queen Bee's Throne Room. 10:12 am*
"I am glad to be here in your presence." Dr. Desmond complimented.
"Yes, yes, but tell me why you're here and how you're back to being you." Queen Bee ordered. "Last I heard of you, you were in Belle Reve Prison after those sidekicks took you down."
"The Machination broke me out instead of my previous benefactors." Dr. Desmond grinned.
"The Machination?!" Queen Bee's eyes widened in pure shock. "You're one of them?!"
"Please calm down." Dr. Desmond reassured. "I'm not here to kill you, otherwise, a couple of my new friends would've come with me. I'm here to make you an offer."
Now, that got Queen Bee's attention. "An offer?"
"Yes. One that could be incredibly beneficial for you." Dr. Desmond said.
"Alright, Dr. Desmond. I'm listening." Queen Bee leaned forward in interest. Maybe Dr. Desmond was telling the truth. It couldn't hurt to just listen.
*Deep Space. Thrull. Unknown Time*
"Lord Megatron, one of my drones went offline." Soundwave informed.
"Why is that, Soundwave?" Megatron asked calmly.
"It turns out the sidekicks of the Justice league and the Autobots destroyed it. The remains are now at Star Labs" Soundwave explained.
"So Earth is under the protection of not only the autobots but the Green Lantern Corps as well." Megatron remarked.
"Blackout! Set a course for Earth!" Megatron ordered.
"Yes, Lord Megatron!" Blackout bowed and set the coordinates. The Nemesis as well as the other Decepticon Cruisers lifted off from Thrull, save for one and made their way towards Earth.
Hello, everyone. I hope you all liked this chapter of Young Justice: Their War, Our World. Batman is brought to life again thanks to the Matrix of Leadership and is back in the game, much to the joy of the League and Team. Plus, I gave Bruce some actual closure with the death of his parents with the three talking before he and Optimus left the afterlife. Diana is overjoyed to have him back with the living. A massive battle happens, even gaining another appearance from Red Arrow. After the battle, Lois reveals herself to be a Blue Lantern, shocking Superman greatly. Bludgeon also nearly kills Green Arrow, so he'll be thanking Batman for saving his ass for a bit.
However, at the end of it all, we go to deep space, specifically the planet Thrull where Megatron and an entire Decepticon Battle Fleet which includes the Nemesis head to Earth after Soundwave's drone which was the Scion XB gets destroyed.
In the beginning of the chapter though, we get a small flashback with Bludgeon and Ra's Al Ghul inviting the former to join the League of Assassins, much to Talia's anger and chagrin. After hearing Bludgeon killed Batman, Ra's rescinds his offer. Bludgeon calmly takes his leave, but not without taking a glance at Shiva.
