It had been her goal to get back with Kyle when she first came to the Bay, now it was her goal to move him back to Melbourne where no one could interfere in their relationship. Kyle's brothers were getting suspicious of her, she knew they were. He wasn't going to turn against them, and if he would, it would take her a huge amount to make it sound convincing. He was even more against going back to Melbourne, he made that very clear, but it was the one thing she was set on.
The Pier Diner
"I saw your brothers down on the beach on my way here, why didn't they ask you to join them?" Phoebe asks as she sits at the table Kyle had got for them, which happened to be near the counter where Irene and Leah were working.
"They needed brotherly time, I wasn't expecting them to ask me." Kyle says, just wanting to keep her happy now, so nodded along to anything she said.
"Even though you are meant to be their brother?" Phoebe raises an eyebrow, trying to hide a smile.
"Only when they feel like it. They do a lot without me now, I'm done caring." Kyle lightly shrugs.
"You're done caring?" Phoebe questions, wanting to know about what he thought of his brothers now.
"It's always been just the three of them, now I'm here. They're never going to see me as a proper brother so I don't know why I was pushing to be one of them. Like you said, it's always been just us two, why do we need my brothers as well?"
"I've been trying to tell you that all along, how come you're only just seeing that?" Phoebe asks.
"Maybe I'm not only just seeing it, I just wanted to block it out because I thought they'd let me in and finally see me as a brother." Kyle says, knowing it would keep her happy, and that was his goal right now.
"If they really saw you as a brother, why did they never ask you to be a River Boy like they are? And don't play it down to them not wanting their 'little brother' to get hurt because Casey's a River Boy, he told me himself." Phoebe taunts.
It did actually get Kyle thinking about all the times they had proven that they didn't see him as a brother. Heath called Kyle a mate instead of his brother not long after he'd moved here, Casey disregarded him as a brother sometimes out of jealousy. Brax couldn't even care less unless it had a gain for him. Kyle remembered those times now, even though he knew his brothers hadn't really meant to make him feel that way.
"Why are you so happy living with them when they aren't happy living with you?"
"Who said I was happy?" Kyle mutters. "I don't enjoy it like I used to, things have changed massively in the past few weeks and I don't like it. I wish things would go back to how they used to be." Kyle sighs, and he was meaning before she turned up, but he wasn't going to make that known.
"Then why don't we just leave this place? You're not happy here, you've said it yourself, but you're refusing to move back to Melbourne. I don't understand that." Phoebe groans.
"Because Melbourne never felt like home. I may not be enjoying it here like I used to, but it's a lot better than anywhere else I've been. You wouldn't understand it." Kyle says.
"There's nothing keeping you here. Your brothers have proven they don't care about you, and yet you still go running back to them like they're going to be there for you. You need to start realising that I'm all you've got now, or soon enough you'll have no one." Phoebe says, and Kyle saw the warning in it.
"I know that, but they've still done a lot for me. It's not that I go running back to them, it's because they're my family and the only family I've got." Kyle says.
"They're not the only family you've got. Your father is in prison and not once have you gone to visit him." Phoebe shakes her head in disgust.
"You know I don't get on with him, he made my life hell." Kyle frowns, wondering how the hell she knew he hadn't gone to visit Danny in prison. "Who even told you I hadn't gone to see him?"
"No one, I was just making a comment about you having more family. These brothers of yours aren't anything special, and you'll soon realise your father is the one person who would have stuck by you." Phoebe says.
"The only thing he ever did for me was lead me to my brothers. Other than that, he was evil. Moving here was the one thing that saved my life and there's nothing you can say that will change my opinion about that. My brothers may not have done anything good for me, but they did give me a family and a safe roof over my head." Kyle says.
"Didn't last long though, did it? Two years and they've already gotten bored of you, real family wouldn't do that."
"Maybe not, but they're still my family." Kyle says before changing the subject to her upcoming gig as he knew she wouldn't drop the subject of his family else.
Braxton House
"You are here then." Brax comments as he walks into the house with Ricky, noticing Kyle sat on the couch on his phone.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Kyle frowns as he glances back at him.
"Who else is home?" Brax asks, wanting to make sure one person especially wasn't home.
"No one. I don't know where everyone else is, but Phoebe's gone out with Kat." Kyle replies as Brax walks over to the dining table, leaning back against it.
"I was in the diner earlier and heard some interesting stuff that happened earlier today. Apparently you were criticising our family and saying how we don't bother with you and we don't see you as a brother anymore. What's your problem with us, Kyle? I thought you enjoyed being a part of our family, and then I found out otherwise from other people." Brax asks, still shocked about finding out what Kyle had been saying to Phoebe during their visit there.
"I do enjoy being a part of this family, I just hate how you're all treating Phoebe." Kyle lies, feeling like that was all he was good for now. "You're always getting into arguments with her, Heath ignores her every chance he gets and Casey moved out just because Denny didn't like Phoebe."
"First of all, Phoebe is the one with the problem, not us, and I will fight that till you realise it. We were going to give her a chance because you were in a relationship with her and was happy, but she completely blew that chance. She was the one who started having a go at Denny and it's anyone's guess as to why, but Denny was willing to give her a chance as well." Brax argues, not knowing what had changed over the past few weeks.
"She didn't have a problem before that, I would have noticed it else! I just want you to all get on with her so this family can get along again. What's so hard about that?" Kyle sighs.
"There's nothing hard about it." Ricky says, not wanting a fight to break out. "I was going to be nice to Phoebe, so was Bianca, but she was saying some cruel things about this family. Can you not see that she's trying to twist things for god knows what reason?" She asks.
"Yes, I do. I've tried talking to her about it and she's going to change. She's just a city girl and moving here was a big change for her. She has been trying to move us back to Melbourne but I shut her down because it's not what I want. And I bet you weren't told that I did back you guys up, I just didn't want her to make a big deal about it." Kyle says.
"And why is that?" Brax asks. "Does she have some sort of problem, is that it?"
"No, she just doesn't like change. She's doing better now, she's opening up to the idea of staying in the Bay more permanently, so can you please just give her a chance to prove that she can be nice?" Kyle pleads, hoping his lies wouldn't be caught out.
"We can do that." Ricky nods. "But you would tell us if there was something else going on, wouldn't you?"
"Like what?" Kyle frowns, his heart starting to race in fear of everything coming out.
"Anything that you didn't feel comfortable with. If Phoebe's moving too fast in your relationship, I can try and talk to her about it." Ricky offers.
"No, it's going fine. I feel like things are going to be okay now, we sorted things out." Kyle says, smiling at them as he felt himself relax again knowing his secrets were safe.
