Chapter 23: Distress Call
In the prison cells of Rainbow Castle, Queen Chroma and a few citizens of Drawville are sitting quietly in a prison cell as they are concern for their freedom. A knight guard in armor who works for her queen looks up to her majesty with a question in his mind.
"Sire, everything alright?" the knight asked.
The queen heard him and grins. "Oh yes, I'm fine." she replied. "We may be trapped in here like rats, but I still believe sooner or later that the Pretty Cures will come to our rescue and save the day."
A woman civilian of Drawville heard her queen as she speaks, "I hope so. Things aren't looking so good in Drawville and Rainbow Castle. I heard through the grapevine that the Blots are getting stronger by the second."
A male civilian cheers the woman up. "Well don't worry," he said with confidence, "The Pretty Cures will triumph anything no matter if those Blots get stronger." The woman grins to see the man's courage and positive thinking, and so did the queen and the knight.
Just then on the prison cell's barred window, a rainbow parakeet appeared as it holds a letter in its beak. The captives see the bird, but Queen Chroma noticed and smiles. "Ah, Sature my good pet." she said calmly.
The other captives blinked in surprise. "That parakeet is your pet?" the man asked.
"Indeed, a good and loyal pet." the queen replied. She then looks at her pet, "What you got there my little friend?" Sature then flies towards Queen Chroma and gives the letter to her. She took the letter, opens it, and reads it. Reading the letter thoroughly, she smiles. The other captives are curious to know what the letter says.
"What does it say your highness?" the knight asked.
The queen still smiles. "Be happy everyone," she said to her citizens, "It says the Pretty Cures have successfully saved Blue Ocean in the nick of time. And they have just obtained the third Wonder Color." Hearing that news made the other captives really happy.
"That's great!" the man said with joy.
"That means they've only got to find five more of those Wonder Colors, and they will defeat the Blots." the woman said with a grin.
"Those Pretty Cures are really doing a fantastic job." the knight stated with a grin.
Queen Chroma pulls out a pen she hides in her gown as she makes a reply note on the letter. Once she's done, she gives the letter back to Sature. Sature takes the letter as he flies out the prison window. The captives watched the queen's leave safely.
The man then makes a curious thought. "Say your majesty, who sent that letter to you?" he asked.
The queen heard him, turns to him, and smiles. "Oh, a very good reliable man that I always count on." she said, "He is doing his job really well, especially while he is in incognito."
The knight realizes who the queen is talking about. "You don't mean…" he asked. The queen turned to her knight and nods. The knight smiled to see her queen's response. "That's our captain for you."
Back at Blue Ocean, the Pretty Cure team is back on the main land after riding on Bloat that carried the team to the mainland's shore. Princess Pearl, her three ladies, Sage Brushette, Conch, and Mollusk tagged along to say their partings to the Pretty Cures. The Pretty Cures went back into their civilian forms as they about to say their partings as well.
"That was an awesome beach party!" Erika shouted in great joy.
"Yeah, thank you so much for that wonderful offer." Itsuki said.
"Anything for our lovely heroes of Spectrum Land." the mermaid princess said with a gentle smile.
"We wish you could stay with us a bit longer," Moné said, "but I know you Pretty Cures have a mission to do and can't have any time to be wasting."
"True, true, true," Shelly agreed, "so all we can do for now is wish you the best of luck."
"Indeed," Octavia followed, "please do save our world of color. We all believe in you."
"And if you Pretty Cures ever need to stop by here again, well… don't hesitate to ask." Mollusk said with a grin.
"Yep, you are free to be welcome here again anytime you desire." Conch followed.
"Good luck Pretty Cures," Bloat said happily to the team, "Thank you again for curing me, and best luck on your adventure."
"Have a safe trip young ones." Sage Brushette said with a smile, "Many dangers are still waiting for you Pretty Cures to face, but I know you will come out on top and beat those Blots once and for all."
"Thanks everyone," Mana said, "we won't let you all down."
"Until then, see ya everyone." Ako said and waved goodbye.
"Later everyone!" Honoka said and waved goodbye.
The Pretty Cure team starts to head back to the painting portal that leads to Pigment Village as they all said their goodbyes to the residents of Blue Ocean. The mermaid princess, the elder of the village, Sage Brushette, Bloat, Mollusk, and the three ladies waved goodbye to the Pretty Cure team.
"Goodbye Pretty Cures! Take care!" Princess Pearl shouted.
"Farewell!" Conch shouted, "See you next time!"
"Bye Pretty Cures!" Sage Brushette shouted, "Good luck on your journey."
"Farewell your majesty!" Karen shouted back.
"Bye everyone!" Urara shouted.
"See you later!" Alice happily shouted.
And the Pretty Cure team continued on heading back to Pigment Village.
Meanwhile back at Rainbow Castle and inside the generals' lounge.
"GRRRAAAHHH!" Turp screamed in anger as he is bandaged up from his battle of the Pretty Cures and sitting on a reclining chair. "I WAS SO CLOSE! I was this close on getting my hands on that Wonder Color. And why? It's because those stupid, annoying, nitwit, and simple-minded frilly brats ruined my perfectly good plan!" Turp is really furious while he moans in pain.
Erass and Scribbelle are next to Turp staring evilly at their injured comrade.
"That's a very big disappointment there Turp." Erass stated, "The King does not like failures."
"Speak for yourself." Scribbelle said, "You failed of retrieving the Wonder Color from the forest."
"FYI, you lost your chance of taking the Wonder Color from the desert land." Scribbelle jolted in realization about her failure, but she blushes angrily at Turp.
"Will you two take your fight somewhere else?" Turp asked to the other two generals. Erass and Scribbelle heard him. "Head is spinning from the pain in that last battle and my anger. Please let me have some R and R."
"Erass! Scribbelle! Turp!" Suddenly, a voice so dark and evil appeared out of nowhere as it gave a shock to the three generals. Then a dark portal appeared in front of the generals, and in it is the face of King Splat staring madly at the generals. "What is the meaning of this!?" the king said angrily. "You incompetent dopes are so suppose to steal the Wonder Colors and defeat the Pretty Cures. But all I see is you three clowns getting whipped by those Pretty Cures."
"Sire, Please!" Erass panicked, "They have gotten three Wonder Colors so far, but there's still more out there that the Pretty Cures haven't obtained yet. It's still a long way for them, but to us we will get those colors in a snap before they do."
The king wasn't sure about Erass' words. "Are you sure?"
"Y-Y-Yes your majesty!" Scribbelle said in fright, "We just went a little too easy on those Pretty Cures. But this time will be different."
"Really, how?" Turp said in curiosity.
"Well Turp," Erass speaks and turns to him, "While you and Scribbelle were doing your own stuff, I manage to train my Blot crew to a stronger team. The Pretty Cures may have defeated the weaker Blots, but this time these minions are more powerful to beat the Pretty Cures." Turp turns to the king, "Sire, if you may, I'll head to the next location that the Blots discovered the next Wonder Color. And this time, the Pretty Cures do not have a chance to beat me and my minions."
The king wasn't sure again, but Erass' courage gave the king a trustworthy feeling. "Alright then Erass," the king said, "Proceed your duty, and make sure you really get those Wonder Colors." Then portal showing King Splat closes and disappears.
"The King doesn't feel happy." Turp warned Erass. "Are you sure you're up to do this for good?"
Erass remained quiet, but slowly speaks. "I'll make sure those Pretty Cures are gone for good." Erass then exits the lounge room and heads out for his search of the Wonder Color.
After Scribbelle watched Erass leave, she sighs. "Those Pretty Cures are definitely a pain." Scribbelle then looks at Turp who is still in severe pain. "You want me to bring some tea?"
"Please bring me the apple cider flavor." Turp begged. "Extra Sugar and Spice too."
"Coming up." But when Scribbelle turned her back on Turp, she said quietly, "You're going to need it for being humiliated defeated by those Pretty Cures."
"Hey! I heard that!"
Back at Pigment Village and inside the Warp Gallery Room, Sage Mark sits quietly in his rocking chair waiting for the Pretty Cures' return and protecting the room. Sage Mark then noticed the painting leading to Blue Ocean is shaking back and forth. He observed the painting for a few seconds, until… Pop! Pop! Splash! The Pretty Cure team returned once again in tip-top shape.
"Pretty Cures, welcome back." Sage Mark said with a smile.
"Sage Mark! It's good to see you again." Akane said with a smile.
"You wouldn't believe how awesome Blue Ocean is after we defeated the Blots." Nozomi said with great excitement.
"Yeah, we had a great beach party as our celebration of retrieving the Wonder Color and saving Blue Ocean." Urara followed up with a big smile on her face.
"Ooo, that's sounds like a nice and special reward for you Pretty Cures." Sage Mark said with delight.
"Speaking of which…," Matt speaks up, "The painting that leads to Blue Ocean?"
"Ah, I thought you might say that." Sage Mark then points to the painting of Blue Ocean. "Take a look."
The Pretty Cure team looked, and was happy to see the painting. The portrait that leads to Blue Ocean didn't contain a dark aura on it nor did it have any dark colors on it. In fact the painting only showed Blue Ocean with its magnificent blue colors of the ocean and sandy colors of the shore.
Sage Mark speaks, "Judging by the looks of that painting, I bet my staff that you Pretty Cures saved Blue Ocean just in time."
"Whew, that means this painting won't be sealed forever." Rin said in relief.
"It's a good thing we got the Wonder Color in time," Rikka said little relief, "otherwise it would too late."
Then Tint remembered something about the Wonder Colors. "Oh that's right!" Tint said in great realization, "Sage Mark, get a load of this news."
"Hmm, what is it?" Sage Mark asked in curiosity.
Everyone is out of the Warp Gallery Room as they are in Sage Mark's living room. Sage Mark is sitting in his comfy chair as the Pretty Cures are sitting on the floor.
"Is this true?" Sage Mark said in surprise.
"Yeah," Tint replied, "When Yayoi and Nao got the Wonder Colors in their hands, the two colors delved into their bodies and given them incredible powers."
"It's true Mark." Nao speaks up, "When I had the Wonder Color Yellow, I asked for its help, and then the color went into my body, and I gain an electrical and a powerful attack."
"Same thing to me." Yayoi speaks, "Only I had grass powers."
"What does this mean Sage Mark?" Tint asked.
Sage Mark begins to think very carefully for a few moments. The Pretty Cure team waited for the anticipation. Then the sage speaks, "This is most interesting. It seems the Wonder Colors do not only grant being's for better structures, environmental protection, or heartfelt desires, but they have the ability to grant someone extra power as they delve into a being. Yayoi and Nao, you two must've really pleaded for help of the colors' powers, and that's why the Wonder Colors aided you in battle of that Blot general." Sage Mark smoothes his beard in curiosity. "Pretty Cures, you now have to be really extra careful of taking care of those Wonder Colors. These Wonder Colors have the ability of hearing someone's wish that's desperate or heartfelt, but they don't sense if the being has a pure or impure heart. Which means anyone can use the power of the Wonder Colors to absorb them, and use them for any specific purpose they have in mind. We can't let those Blots get these Wonder Colors for good, and you Pretty Cures are the only ones who can use their power for the good of people. If one Blot manages to use one of the Wonder Colors to gain extra power…" Sage Mark turns away in disgust, "I don't want to find out."
"Then we really need to keep our head up in the game." Saki notes to everyone.
"Right, you better make sure those Wonder Colors don't fall out of that case again Matt." Kurumi warned him.
"Don't worry, it won't happen again." Matt replied calmly, "It slipped out of my bag by accident."
Yuri then begins to make a concern thought. "The Wonder Colors' powers can be used for either good or evil." Yuri noted, "We have to get all those Wonder Colors before those Blots do." Everyone agreed with Yuri.
Bum-bing-bum-ba-bum-boo! Bum-bing-bum-ba-bum-boo! Suddenly, everyone in the room heard a strange jingling sound like a phone call. It was then Megumi realized it is her Cure Line, her smartphone-like device, calling for her. "Oh, sorry everyone, that's my Cure Line."
"A what…?" said Matt in little confusion.
"A Cure Line." Hime replied, "It's like our Pretty Cure smartphones." Matt understands and is a little surprised in awe.
Megumi answers her Cure Line, and the screen shows a young boy with thick brown hair and wearing a red sweater. "Megumi, where are you?" the boy said on the phone.
"Seiji!" Megumi said in surprised, "Is that you?"
"Well who else would it be? But right now we've got a problem."
"W-What is it?"
Just then someone else's Cure Line is also ringing as everyone heard it. This time it was Iona's Cure Line that's ringing. She takes her Cure Line and answers it. The screen shows a young woman with dark gray hair and wearing a Pretty Cure outfit. "Sis, are you there?" the woman said on the phone.
"Big sister? What is it?" Iona said in surprise to see her older sister again.
"Things are looking bad here, and we need your help."
"W-What happened?"
"Say, what's going on?" The sage asked. "Who are you talking to?"
Megumi, Iona, and the rest of the Pretty Cure team looked to Sage Mark's quizzical reaction. But on Megumi and Iona's Cure Line, Seiji and Iona's sister heard the voice of the sage too.
"Hey Megumi, who's that?" Seiji asked.
"It's our friends back home on Earth." Megumi answers to the sage. "And we have them on our smartphones."
"Phones huh?" The sage makes a curious look, "You know, I like to see your world is doing, so I have an idea. Why don't you two put your… uh… smartphones on the table next to my crystal ball."
Megumi and Iona don't understand why, but the two looked at each other and nod. The two girls put their Cure Lines on the table and next to Sage Mark's crystal ball. Sage Mark then begins his spell by swirling his staff creating an aura ring. He then sends the ring to the phones and his crystal ball encasing them inside of the ring. The ring circled around the objects very fast, until in an instant the ring went into the objects and disappears. Then the crystal ball begins to glow as it makes a projection screen floating just right above the crystal ball. And appearing above the crystal ball are two screens showing Seiji and Iona's big sister.
"Hey, what happened?" Seiji wondered as looks around as he appears on the screen.
"I don't really know." Iona's big sister replied as she also looks around.
"Hey Seiji, it's good to see you." Megumi calls out to him.
Seiji hears Megumi and is surprise not only to see her, Hime, Yuko, and Iona, but the other Pretty Cure girls with them. "Hey, what's with those girls you're hanging out Megumi?"
"Oh, you don't need to worry about them." Yuko cheers Seiji up. "These other girls are Pretty Cures, and we are here to save this world."
"This world? What do you mean?" Iona's big sister asked.
"I can answer that." Sage Mark speaks. Seiji and Iona's sister turned toward the sound and see the sage.
"Hey, who are you?" Seiji asked.
"I can explain everything." The sage explained every single detail about Pretty Cures being in Spectrum Land and who the sage is to Seiji and Iona's sister.
"So that's where you are Megumi." Seiji said in a firm tone.
"We are worried that something bad happened to you." Iona's sister said, "We couldn't find you here on Earth."
"No, we're doing fine sis." Iona happily speaks.
"Wait Iona." Matt interrupts, "Is that your sister we heard back in Green Forest?"
"That's right Matt. I like all of you to meet my wonderful big sister Maria. As you can see, just like me, she's also a Pretty Cure, and they call her Cure Tender. She's really a strong Pretty Cure, and she loves to help others who are in trouble and need help." Some of other Pretty Cures are awe-struck to see another Pretty Cure who is famous.
"Well Iona my little sister, I'm not that strong." Cure Tender said in little shyness.
"And Seiji is my very good friend back home." Megumi stated to everyone.
"So Seiji, what's seems to be the problem?" Hime asked.
"Right, well things aren't going so well here on Earth." Seiji stated. "Weird things are happening not just in Pikarigaoka, but all around the world."
"That's right," Cure Tender speaks, "When Seiji and I saw this, we thought we should find you Happiness Charge Pretty Cures to solve this problem, but we couldn't find you on Earth, that is… until we called and found you."
"Why? What's happening?" Megumi asked in concern.
"Take a look at this." Using the Cure Line Seiji holds on Earth, he shows the Pretty Cure team the main problem. And using the camera on the Cure Line, it shows everything to the projection screen to everyone back in Sage Mark's living room. But what the Pretty Cure team saw is a shocking sight as they all widen their eyes and opened their jaws in fright.
On the screen showed Pikarigaoka that most of the buildings, the fields, the trees and plants, and the water of the rivers and lakes, have lost all of their color. Mostly everything in Pikarigaoka are all colored in black and white. The Happiness Charge Pretty Cures feared at this terrible sight.
"Our home…" Yuko said in fright.
"Everything's… all in black and white." Megumi said deep concern.
The other Pretty Cures also sees this tragic sight as they are deeply frightened of what's happening to the world.
"Oh no…" Tsubomi said in fright.
"All of those colors." Reika said in concern.
"And that's not only it." Cure Tender said in great concern. Everyone heard her and listened. "Look at this." Cure Tender showed everyone on the projection screen by using her Cure Line's camera. Once the camera got its view and the projection screen shows the scenery, everyone, the Pretty Cures, Matt, the fairies, Tint, and Sage Mark, all made a horrific and frightened look on their faces.
Showing on the screen are some civilian people lying on the ground unconscious… in black and white.
"No!" Aguri cried in shock.
"All those poor people." Hikari said in fright.
"This can't be…" Karen said in great surprise.
Then Cure Tender speaks, "I was investigating what caused this terrible phenomenal when I happened to encounter an innocent person who looked sick. I went up to him asked what's wrong. He said he felt slow and like he's losing his energy. It was then after that talk, he started to lose his colors and turned black and white. Before I knew it, he lost his consciousness. It's the same thing that happened to these people here."
"Megumi, what's going on?" Seiji said in great concern.
The Pretty Cure team all looked depressed and concerned.
"It's happening so fast." Reika said in concern.
"Pretty soon, our world will have no color and life." Kanade said in fear.
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Cure Tender asked.
Tint flies and floats in front of Seiji and Cure Tender and begins to speak. "I can explain everything to guys of what's happening." she said. Seiji and Cure Tender listened as Tint explained everything that the horrible cause of their world is the lost of the Prism Diamond, and without it in Spectrum Land, the galaxy will face a colorless fate of doom. After hearing every word of what Tint said, Seiji and Cure Tender understood.
"So that's the reason." Seiji said.
"That's why all of you are in Spectrum Land to get back the Prism Diamond and save our world and the galaxy's colors." Cure Tender stated.
"That's right sis," Iona speaks, "We're doing everything we can to retrieve and restore the Prism Diamond before it's too late."
"Seiji and Cure Tender," Megumi speaks, "You have to believe in us Pretty Cures that we will save the galaxy and bring back the colors."
Seiji and Cure Tender are a bit concern about their situation, but they agreed with confidence that the Pretty Cures will triumph in the end.
"Alright Megumi, everyone," Seiji speaks, "we believe in you all. Don't let us down."
"Me, Seiji, and of course the international Pretty Cures, will do everything we can save many people's lives. You just make sure you don't fall behind and fail."
"You can count on all of us!" Hime said with great confidence.
"We will save Spectrum Land no matter what." Yuko said with a smile. All the Pretty Cures agreed with confidence and a nod. Seiji and Cure Tender smiled and understood.
"Thanks you guys." Seiji said with a grin. "Take care." Seiji hangs up his Cure Line as the screen of him disappeared.
"I'm going too." Cure Tender said with a gentle smile, "So take care everyone. I'm out." Cure Tender hangs up her Cure Line and the screen of her disappears.
"Looks like things are looking desperate without that Prism Diamond." Sage Mark stated.
"I know," Tint responds, "The disappearance of the colors is progressing faster than we expected." Tint then turns to the Pretty Cure team. "Pretty Cures, we have to act fast and find those Wonder Colors quick before your world and the galaxy will lose all of its colors for good."
"Right, so let's get a move on everyone, and find the next Wonder Color." Hibiki said in a firm tone of voice. Everyone agreed with Hibiki with a nod.
Then Sage Mark stands up from his chair and speaks. "Alright, let's make no time to waste." he declared. "Let's all head into the Warp Gallery Room." Everyone agreed.
In the Warp Gallery Room, Matt places the Wonder Color Case on the pedestal. Then Tint opens the case and spins the center spinner as fast as she can. Then the case glowed really bright, and then a rainbow beam shoots out from the case and hits another blank painting. When the beam made contact on the painting, the painting glowed in a red aura. The beam disappeared and lines appeared on the painting to draw a picture. The picture is done as the painting fills its color. The painting then shows a picture of rocky hills and a red-orangey sky with a volcano in the background.
"Now what is that place?" Makoto wondered.
"Ah, that place maybe dangerous at first, but it's actually an exotic place." Sage Mark said, "That's Red Volcano."
"Red Volcano huh?" Rikka said in little concern. "Then we gotta be careful of encountering any hot situations."
"Right, who knows what dangerous hot stuff we will run into." Akane followed up.
"Well then everyone," Tint speaks up to the team, "Shall we head off?" The Pretty Cure team agrees Tint with a nod. "Alrighty then, let's move!"
The Pretty Cure team and Tint dash to the painting and hopped inside of it.
"Good luck again Pretty Cures!" Sage Mark shouted, "And watch out for those lavas and the flying fire rocks!"
