Chapter 38 Civil War

Sean burst out laughing seeing Unalaq in a cell who was glaring.

"I knew something was up when you said you knew how to solve this! It was just for you!" Sean yelled laughing.

"It's not funny." Unalaq said.

"It is when all the past Avatars disproved your ideals of spirits with all the trouble they gave." Sean said.

"Spirits bring enlightenment! Not trouble!" Unalaq yelled.

"Really? So what happened with that face stealer is enlightenment? The Panda who attacked a village who did nothing to him. And the Basilisk? Thats enlightenment?" Sean asked making him growl knowing he had no retort for that.

"And I think it's probably best that spirts and the galaxy don't have any contact since it would be more trouble than their worth. Hence forth the Legion has decided to find a way to permanently seal them away." Tarkin said shocking him.

"Oh I look forward to seeing that." Sean said laughing as he left.

"You will pay for this!" Unalaq said.

"Oh I very much doubt that. Besides your going to be executed in a few days. Not just for this but also sending Zaheer and the others." Tarkin said.

"FOR THE LAST TIME I DID NOT SEND THEM!" Unalaq roared.

"You can lie all you wish but I have proof now." Tarkin said.

"What proof?" Unalaq asked.'

"As your aware the Legion is allied with other universes. One of which told me about your involvement with the incident 14 years ago. You sent them." Tarkin said.

"What happened in one Universe does not mean it happened here." Unalaq said.

"And yet they all share nearly identical events. All of them have Amon for example but different ideals and views. But the same events regardless." Tarkin said.

"That doesn't mean anything. I didn't send them. I never even heard of Zaheer until after it happened. I am telling the truth." Unalaq said.

"Your version of the Truth. You have lied and deceived everyone including your own family. I would not be surprised if you were the one who sent those barbarians on your own tribe." Tarkin said making him growl.

"I was trying to keep my people on the right path." Unalaq said.

"Your path. It matters not. You are no longer leader of the Water Tribe and your going to be facing Death's row in a few days. Your father may have kept you safe to save himself...But he's not here to protect you this time." Tarkin said walking away

Sean smiled as he held his daughter who giggled.

"The bad man is going away honey. And we are going to enjoy our time here." Sean said.

"I can't believe he actually murdered innocent people just because they didn't share the same view as him." Korra said holding her son. (It wouldn't surprise me if he did in cannon)

"Doesn't matter. He's gonna be dead soon enough. And we can relax to enjoy their first birthday." Sean said.

"That I am looking forward to." Korra said.

Meanwhile

Tenzin and his family were enjoying themselves while Turok was next to Nexo who purred.

"Ahh, I haven't felt this at peace since..." Tenzin tried to say.

"Wahoo!" Bumi yelled jumping out in a robe with his underwear on.

"And it's over." Tenzin said.

"Good morning universe!" Bumi yelled with his robe opened making Kya cover her eyes.

"Bumi, Dear god. Cover yourself!" Kya yelled mortified.

"Well, Lookee here. Vacation Tenzin has finally decided to join us." Bumi said.

"Yes, he has. And it's I've really enjoyed having you two around. Reminds me of all those great vacations as kids with dad." Tenzin said.

"Ahem." Turok said reminding him.

"Oh...Right." Tenzin said forgetting.

"Finally realized we were never there?" Kya asked annoyed.

"I swear I thought you two were there." Tenzin said.

"Or just pretended you were there. My dad had a lot of responsibilities in the Republic before it was torn down but he always made sure my brother and I had equal attention." Turok said.

"See? His had even great responsibilities and actually made time for both of them." Bumi said.

"Now hold on. I know for a fact dad loved us all equally." Tenzin said.

"Loving equally and paying attention equally are two different things." Turok said.

"Exactly." Kya said.

"Meelo you idiot!" Ikki yelled dragging him to them.

"OW OW OW OW OW!" Meelo yelled in pain.

"What is going on?" Tenzin asked.

"Ask him." Ikki said presenting him to their parents.

"Wheres Omega?" Turok asked.

"Again ask him." Ikki said.

"Meelo. What did you do?" Pema asked.

"Nothing." Meelo said.

"He said clones aren't real people." Ikki said shocking them.

"WHAT!" Turok yelled.

"But they aren't. You just buy them. That means they aren't real people." Meelo said before yelling as Turok picked him up.

"You stupid little brat!" Turok yelled holding him above Nexo who opened his mouth making him scream.

"Enough. Lets go find her." Tenzin said.

"I'll deal with you later punkass." Turok said dropping him as he yelled while his mother glared at him.

"What? They aren't people." Meelo said.

"You are grounded for life." Pema said making him moan. (Dumbass)

Meanwhile

Sean was going over things with the council about Unalaq.

"So Unalaq committed mass murder over 20 years ago and his father covered it up." Kenobi said.

"Aye. I want him transported and ready for execution when we get back." Sean said.

"What about the Portal? If Korra's the only one who can open it that would stand to reason an Avatar from the past closed it. Clearly theres a reason for it." Anakin said.

"Maybe one of my counterparts knows. Where are they?" Sean asked.

"In their universes. When they get back we'll ask." Kenobi said ending transmission.

"So if an Avatar did close the portal then why?" Sean asked his father.

"That I don't know. But clearly he wanted it open and was willing to go to great lengths to do so. And I'm willing to bet he had something to do with those dark spirts to convince Korra to open it. And according my research theres another one." Tarkin said.

"There are two?" Sean asked.

"One in the South and the other in the North. But both of them are closed. Which leaves me to believe they are closed for a reason." Tarkin said.

"Whatever Avatar closed them was trying to keep something on the other side. Maybe theres something there that one Avatar fought and had to seal the portals to keep it contained." Sean said.

"Perhaps. I recommend Unalaq be interrogated to find out his true intentions." Tarkin said.

Korra right now was heading to Unalaq's cell before seeing Eska and Desna with him.

"Get out." Korra said.

"We do not need to listen to a traitor." Eska said before yelling as she airbended her into a wall.

"OUT!" Korra yelled as they ran.

"You ruined everything. I was going to make the world better." Unalaq said.

"Says the Murderer. A man who killed entire families just because some had different views. What happened to having a personal opinion? What no one but you can have one?" Korra asked.

"You want the truth. I don't regret what I did. The entire galaxy should be like me. Spiritually enlightened." Unalaq said.

"Spiritually enlightened is not what you are. Your just mad for power. Willing to do whatever you want to get what you want." Korra said.

"The other avatars would agree with me." Unalaq said.

"Funny you say that. They all agreed your view on spirits was wrong. Spirits caused nothing but trouble. Past events prove this." Korra said.

"What a few spirits do is of no concern." Unalaq said.

"Really? So the Basilisk was of no concern?" Korra asked.

"That was one Spirit." Unalaq said.

"It was more than one. There have been others before. Your just unwilling to admit it because you can't accept being wrong." Korra said.

"I am not wrong! I am always right. Unlike your father. I should have killed him when he was banished." Unalaq said.

"And now your going to die...Tonight." Korra said shocking him. "I'll ask Tarkin to approve it." Korra said.

"You'll regret this. I promise that." Unalaq said.

Meanwhile

"Omega? Where are you?" Turok called out.

"Over here."

Turok looked before Bumi walked out making him sigh in annoyance.

"Theres no sign of her anywhere." Kya said.

"I can't believe that little shit had the guts to say that shit. Clones aren't people. My fucking ass." Turok said.

"Ah I can only blame myself. Perhaps if I was around me to teach him right from wrong like Dad did for all of us..." Tenzin said.

"HELLO!" Both siblings yelled.

"Oh...Right." Tenzin said.

"Seriously why can't you just accept your wrong on the fact your dad played favorites?" Turok asked.

"He didn't play favorites...He just..." Tenzin tried to say.

"Focused more on you." Kya said.

"And less on us. Hell, I don't even remember one day where he even asked us to come with him on his trips." Bumi said glaring at him.

"Did you ask him yourselves?" Tenzin asked trying to calm them down.

"YES!" Both yelled. (You know hearing this makes me kinda hate Aang since I thought he'd be a good dad. Turned into a lousy one)

"Seriously. My dad had more responsibilities but at least he made time for both of us when we were kids." Turok said.

"Look, I realize our father didn't pay attention to all of us equally but I do know he loved us equally. There is no doubt about that." Tenzin said.

"Loving someone equally and showing attention equally are two different things since showing attention to one more than the others says otherwise." Kya said.

"She's got a point." Turok asked.

"Look it all happened years ago. Why are we even talking about this?" Tenzin asked.

"Because you have some delusion we all had a happy childhood. WE DIDN'T! You may have with Dad...But we didn't." Kya said walking away. "You know sometimes I wish mom married someone else who would pay attention to his kids equally." Kya said.

"Hey." Tenzin said offended by that.

"Oh let her vent. I know she doesn't mean it." Bumi said.

"You guys seriously have issues." Turok said.

Meanwhile

"What do you mean no?" Korra asked Tarkin.

"I mean we can't execute him yet. He may have information that is of great value." Tarkin said.

"I don't care. He's caused nothing but trouble. And I'll bet anything people loyal to him are planning to free him." Korra said.

"Perhaps. But if the information he had proves valuable it is worth the risk." Tarkin said making her sigh. "Besides now that his deeds are made public No in the north unless they were paid off will help him." Tarkin said.

"I hope your right." Korra said leaving

Arriving at her home she found her mother holding her granddaughter.

"Hard to believe they're almost a year old." Senna said making her smile.

"Yeah. Time flies." Korra said taking her son. "Wheres Dad?" Korra asked making her sigh.

"Oh, he's outside." Senna said before Korra left.

Walking outside she found him sitting next to a fire.

"You ok?" Korra asked.

"Yeah, I knew one day his crimes would be made public." Tonraq said.

"Why didn't you say anything from the beginning? Clearly you didn't approve of the idea to keep it covered up." Korra said.

"My father convinced me to keep quiet. Even though he threatened to banish me I still felt it was wrong. But he just didn't want the linage to face that kind of ridicule. He was always prideful in his position. If that was made public he knew his position would be compromised and someone would suggest a new linage." Tonraq said.

"But you didn't care." Korra said.

"No. I always felt being honest was the signs of a good leader." Tonraq said.

"It is." Korra said.

"So whats gonna happen to him?" Tonraq asked.

"He'll be executed since his crimes are severe. Add to the fact that he was probably the one making dark spirits also gives us a reason." Korra said.

"I suppose so." Tonraq said. "And Eska and Desna?" Tonraq asked.

"Don't care." Korra said making him chuckle.

Meanwhile

Bumi grumbled as Kya used her waterbending to heal him.

"I told you those rocks were slippery. You're lucky you didn't kill yourself." Kya said annoyed.

"You done with the lecture, Mom?" Bumi asked annoyed.

"Oh, Grow up. You haven't changed one bit since we were kids. You're still trying to prove you can do everything a bender can. Well, you can't. Deal with it." Kya said.

"And your not our mother. You don't get to tell me what I can and can't do. So deal with that. UGH!" Bumi said as she dropped the water she used on his head.

"Good luck healing yourself with your non bending powers." Kya said as he shook off all the water.

"Hey, back me up here, Tenzin." Bumi said.

"Kya's right. You're the oldest of us, but you always acted like the youngest. I had to become the responsible one." Tenzin said.

"You think you're the responsible one? Where were you after Dad died and Mom was all alone? Because I was the only one who packed up and moved my whole life to be with her." Kya said ticked off by that remark.

"Sure, after years of flitting around the world, trying to find yourself. It was time for you to settle down somewhere. You two have no idea how it feels to have the future of an entire culture on your shoulders." Tenzin said.

"Oh, Boo-Hoo. Must've been real hard for you, flying around the world with dad. Riding Elephant-Koi all day." Bumi said.

"Oh so thats what this is about." Tenzin said.

"Thats's what it's always been about. You think you're some savior who has to carry on Dad's legacy." Kya said.

"Who else is going to do it?" Tenzin asked.

"How bout all of us?" Kya said.

"Yeah, we're Aang's kids too." Bumi said.

"We never should have come along on this vacation." Kya said.

"I couldn't agree more." Bumi said.

"Well, I didn't want you to come in the first place." Tenzin said.

"WILL YOU ALL SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Turok roared shocking them. "You idiots disgust me. Tenzin, you are not your father. So stop trying to think you can be like him. Hell, your the reason they were ignored in the first place. And you can't accept your father wasn't the man you thought he was." Turok said.

"I...I admit I realize he wasn't the man I thought he was but I know he had good intentions." Tenzin said.

"See there you go again defending him like he did no wrong. You three are gonna sit here and talk this shit out, OR I'M GONNA MAKE YOU!" Turok roared shocking them as he got on Nexo who ran off.

Turok sighed before he came to a cave.

"By the ancient Jedi what a bunch of morons." Turok said.

"Who?" Omega said walking to him.

"There you are. Ikki told us what happened and you ran off." Turok said.

"Oh I wasn't bothered by that. Jinora said he was a selfish idiot who doesn't think." Omega said making him snort. "No I left so he would get in trouble." Omega said.

"Oh you played him. Nice. So why are you in here then?" Turok asked.

"This." Omega said seeing ancient drawings on the wall.

"Oh. Ancient Airbender stuff." Turok said before seeing what looked like two spirits fighting one another.

"I think this is during the days before the Avatar actually or when it first began." Omega said.

"Hmm. I can't read any of this. This is ancient writing." Turok said.

"I can." Tenzin said walking to them with Kya and Bumi.

"Finally sort you're shit out?" Turok asked.

"Yes. Now then." Tenzin said reading this.

"What does it say?" Omega asked.

"It speaks of two ancient Spirts. One of Light and Order. The other of Evil and Chaos. Both of them had fought since the days long before mankind. Till one day a Man had misunderstood the Light spirit's intentions. She was keeping her counterpart contained till their next battle. But he freed him when he made it sound like she was torturing him. He vowed to make amends for his actions." Tenzin said.

"How?" Omega asked.

"He began to learn how to use the other elements to give him an edge against this Dark spirt. I think this is speaking of the first Avatar." Tenzin said amazed.

"How was this not discovered?" Turok asked.

"When Sozin purged the Air nation much of our history was lost. But this will help us see the origins once more. According to this when the battle began both he and this Light spirt merged together and stopped the dark spirt by imprisoning in the spirit world." Tenzin said.

"So thats how the Avatar Cycle began." Turok said.

"But I can't help but wonder why they didn't just destroy him." Omega said.

"Probably because it wasn't that simple." Tenzin said.

Meanwhile

Korra smiled seeing the night sky.

"One of the benefits of living here." Sean said.

"Yeah. At least things are..." Korra tried to say before bright Aurora's were seen in the sky.

"What the?" Sean tried to say before they heard explosions at the prison making them rush off.

Arriving at the prison they found Unalaq's prison empty.

"Looking for me?" Unalaq asked making his presence known with a smug look.

"How did you do it? How did you open the portal without me?" Korra asked.

"At first I thought I could trick you into opening it but I plan ahead. You see while I despise the Jedi since they are pathetic...I do approve of the Sith." Unalaq said as Malgus appeared behind him.

"Malgus." Sean said glaring at his most hated enemy.

"In time this world and the whole Galaxy will belong to us. You will see." Malgus said before they vanished.

Later

"Unalaq is in league with the Sith. Since when?" Tonraq asked.

"Who knows. But they opened the portal somehow. We need to head back to Republic City and then get Legion forces here." Sean said.

"You both be careful." Korra said hugging her parents.

"We'll be fine. You just do what you can." Senna said.
