Chapter 39 PeaceKeepers
The ship docked at the Republic City docks.
"What a nightmare. How did the Sith get past our security systems?" Asami said.
"Add that to the growing list of questions we have." Korra said with the Twins in her arms.
"Doesn't matter. Their here and whatever they want is nothing small." Sean said.
"Agreed. We need to find out what that is." Tarkin said.
"My question is how did they open the southern portal?" Korra asked.
"Using the force no doubt. The Darkside leads to a path of many abilities many would consider unnatural." Sean said.
"But then why try to trick Korra to open it?" Asami asked.
"Most likely because it was easier and wanted to mock her for falling for his deception." Tarkin said.
"We still need to stop them before they open the other portal." Mako said.
"Hence why we're going to the President to get the troops already here to go and stop them." Sean said.
"I'd feel more comfortable if Dooku was in his place." Korra said.
"Is that so?" Dooku asked walking to them.
"Master? What are you doing here?" Korra asked.
"I had heard the Sith were spotted in the South. I came here to confirm this." Dooku said.
"Unfortunately it's true. And Unalaq is in league with them. Has been for some time." Korra said.
"And he's not the only one. Clearly there are agents here on Earth that are helping them past security." Dooku said.
"Well, Hiroshi can't be one of them. He's on Coruscant in a shocked state. He's useless to them right now." Sean said.
"Which means it has to be someone else. Perhaps one of the remaining Triads who have avoided detection are helping them." Dooku said.
"I doubt that to be honest. Simple Thugs wouldn't be enough." Tarkin said.
"We'll find out soon enough." Sean said.
Arriving back home Korra placed the twins down in their cribs while Jinora did the same.
"I hope none are in the City." Jinora said.
"I don't think so. I don't sense any of them." Korra said.
"I just don't understand. How did they get back on Earth? Past the Blockade?" Jinora asked.
"I think Sinister is behind this. Since Hiroshi is captured he's the best inventor they got." Korra said.
Later
Sean and Korra were meeting with Raiko about the situation.
"So what seems to be the problem?" Raiko asked.
"We need the United forces to be ready to head to the South because Sith forces have invaded Earth again. And Unalaq is in league with them." Sean said.
"But thats impossible. No reports have come in from the blockade regarding them. How could they get past our defenses?" Raiko asked.
"We don't know just yet. But we are going to find out. Thats why we need the troops currently here to be ready." Sean said.
"I'm sorry but I can't do that." Raiko said shocking them.
"What?" Korra asked in shock.
"Look. Unless you have proof that they are here in large numbers I won't have the troops go to war. We're already spread thin enough as it is. I can't just send them unless I know I have to. You never said how many they have." Raiko said.
"It doesn't matter how many. The Sith being here is cause for concern. Last time they infiltrated a system they almost made a Virus that could wipe out the entire galaxy. And they have a massive super weapon that can destroy entire planets. Whatever their doing here involves spirits this time. And I don't need to remind you about the Basilisk incident." Korra said.
"I have no forgotten those reports. But nevertheless I will not send my troops unless you have full proof about what thier doing here. And thats all I will say." Raiko said.
"Raiko." Dooku said walking in.
"Ah, Dooku. What do I owe the pleasure?" Raiko asked.
"You are making a mistake not getting involved in this. The Sith have ruined entire systems with their presence alone. You must do something or the world will suffer." Dooku said glaring at him.
"I don't have to do anything. Especially not from a former Jedi." Raiko said.
"Watch it." Korra said in warning.
"This discussion is over. And I will not send the troops unless I have to." Raiko said as they left.
"He's being a coward." Korra said.
"I think he's more interested in getting rich and famous rather than lift a finger." Sean said.
"Raiko does not strike me as the kind who would care for the people of this planet. And I could easily tell back there he was lying about his reasons for not sending in his troops." Dooku said.
"Whatever his reasons are don't matter. If he won't send for troops here I will order some here." Sean said.
"It may take time. From what I understand the Sith empire has been making many pushes which has spread the Legion forces far as well as other armies as well." Dooku said.
"That can't be a coincidence." Korra said knowing the Sith wouldn't do that unless there was a specific reason for it.
"If they're spreading our forces out its because they want to occupy as many as possible. Which means getting troops here will be difficult." Sean said.
"I assume you have other allies." Dooku said.
"I got a few. One of them will want to take a crack at Unalaq and the Sith without question." Sean said as Korra suddenly saw visions of a woman she's never seen before.
"Korra?" Dooku asked.
"I...Just had some weird vision. A woman I've never seen before." Korra said.
"Must have something to do with this. We'll find out later." Sean said.
Later
Both Sean and Korra were meeting with Genral Iron regarding the Sith.
"So what seems to be the Problem?" Iroh asked.
"The South needs military support before the Sith pull something, But Raiko is refusing to give the order since he doesn't think they're a threat." Korra said.
"Hence why we came to you directly." Sean said.
"I see. Well, Suppose I were to take the fleet south on some routine training maneuvers. And lets say were were to accidentally run into a hostile Sith blockade. We'd have no choice but to defend ourselves, wouldn't we?" Iroh said.
"I guess you wouldn't. Thank you." Korra said pleased before.
"Swapping old war stories?" Raiko asked making his presence known.
"Mr. President." Iroh said saluting.
"I hope you're not planning to take any military action without an order from your commander in chief." Raiko said.
"Of course not, sir." Iroh said.
"Good, because if a single vessel leaves this harbor without my say-so, you'll be court-martialed." Raiko said before glaring at Sean and Korra. "Try to cross me again and I will have you both Arrested and I don't care who you both are. And those." Raiko said looking at the Twins. "Will be taken away from you and put into child protective costody where you will never see them again." Raiko said before screaming as Sean electrocuted him.
"You wanna say that again." Sean said taking his mask off showing Sickly yellow eyes making him gasp in shock.
"You may think just because your the President that you can do whatever you want but you can't. Try that again and we'll have you thrown out of office for abuse of power. Do we make ourselves clear?" Korra asked glaring at him.
"Yes...Very clear." Raiko said running off.
"What a waste of flesh." Sean said before Korra had more visions again.
"These visions are getting more intense. I think someone is trying to warn me about something." Korra said.
"A past Avatar?" Sean asked.
"No. I don't think it's an Avatar. Her clothes were more...Galaxy modern past. She looks familiar." Korra said.
"Then lets find out." Sean said.
Soon the two were at the Meditation center on Air Temple island.
"And what makes you think this person can help if she's not An Avatar?" Tarkin asked.
"Anything can be of use. As you once said." Sean said.
"True." Tarkin said as Korra went into the Avatar State.
Suddenly she found herself back in the Water Tribe.
"Hello, Korra."
Korra turned seeing a woman with white skin white hair blue eyes smiling at her.
"Why do you seem so Familiar?" Korra asked making her giggle.
"Is it really hard to recognize your own ancestor on your mother's side?"
This caused Korra to widen her eyes remembering the day of the clone wars began what Malgus said.
"You? You're Meetre Surik?" Korra asked.
"Indeed I am. Long ago when the wars ended and the Sith were defeated once more...I traveled the Galaxy and came to earth where I settled down to start a new life. And then I had my own child where your mother's linage began. And I learned many secrets before my time came to an end." Surik said.
"Like what?" Korra asked.
"The Origins of the avatar. Haven't you ever wondered how the Cycle began? Why the Avatar cycle goes in the circle of Water, Earth, Fire and Air? Why the avatar is considered the bridge to the spirit world?" Surik asked.
"Sometimes. What is the Origins?" Korra asked before two spirits appeared.
"These are the most important Spirits of all. Raava the Spirit of light and Balance. And Vaatue the Spirit of Darkness and Chaos." Surik said.
"What do they have to do with this?" Korra asked.
"Everything. You see every 10,000 years they would fight each other for the fate of this world. The Jedi never sensed it because Earth was so far away from the rest of the Galaxy. And Every time Raava always prevailed against Vaatu. However the last time they were to fight an incident occurred." Surik said.
"What kind of Incident?" Korra asked.
"A man named Wan had misunderstood a situation because of Vaatu's deception. He set him free and in doing so allowed him to cause Chaos with the world and spirits. That made him stronger while weakening Raava since their power is measured by what they represent. When he learned the truth he was horrified by his actions. But he vowed to make amends." Surik said.
"How?" Korra asked.
"Back then the human race was protected by Lion turtles which in those times served as moving cities to protect mankind and gifted them the power of the elements. He went to one each to learn the power of different elements." Surik said.
"Wait a second. Was he..." Korra tried to say.
"The very first Avatar. When he had mastered all four elements he fourth against Vaatu but was losing so he and Raava merged together and during the Convergence merged forever and imprisoned him in the tree of time in the spirit world. In order to keep the worlds safe he had the spirits return to their world with only a small few who refused to leave. And then sealed the portals to keep Vaatu contained." Surik said.
"Thats why Unalaq wanted them open. The Next Convergence is close isn't it?" Korra asked
"Very. In just 5 days. When that happens Unalaq will attempt to merge with Vaatu to become a dark Avatar. But that is not the worst of it. The Sith are under the impression that Unalaq will use this new found power to change the tide in their favor." Surik said.
"But he isn't is he?" Korra asked.
"No, he's just using them to a mean to an end. As all those who follow the path of darkness the path of betrayal lies ahead to only doom themselves." Surik said.
"So what is he doing?" Korra asked.
"Hidden within the Galaxy and the Universe are lay lines. Powerful currents that the Force flows through to keep all things connected to the force. Unalaq had learned about this and plans to use these lay lines for his own gains. If someone of their power and connection could become one they could use them to force people to do whatever they please. In other words." Surik said.
"He wants to make the Galaxy remade in his image by using these lay lines." Korra said.
"Correct. And with the growing conflict of the Clone wars creates chaos which only further feeds Vaatu. If they both merge together the Galaxy will lose it's free will...And be force to do whatever Unalaq tells them to. It will mean the end of all free will for everyone in the entire universe." Surik said horrifying her.
"How do I stop him. They already opened one of the spirit portals. The Answer to that lies within the spirit world." Korra said.
"You want me to close the portals from inside?" Korra asked.
"No. There is someone there that can help you find the answers you seek. An Old friend from a past life." Surik said before they both vanished.
Korra went out of the Avatar State seeing them.
"Well?" Tarkin asked.
"It was my ancestor Surik. She knows what Unalaq is up to. He's trying to free a Dark Spirit named Vaatu so he can merge with him during the Convergence to become a Dark Avatar and then use these lay lines the force is connected to all over the universe." Korra said.
"Lay lines?" Tarkin asked.
"Their used to connect everything in the Universe. He wants to use them to take away everyones free will to force them to be like him." Korra said.
"Is that possible?" Sean asked.
"With him and Vaatu and the Lay lines oh yeah...He could pull it off." Korra said.
"Would this require both portals opened?" Tarkin asked.
"Oh yeah. Thats why he wanted me to open one up. But because Dad exposed him and the fact that the other Avatars didn't agree with him that first part didn't happen. But the Sith found a way." Korra said.
"And yet no reports of the other portal opening have been heard." Tarkin said.
"Not yet. He probably knows it's difficult to open them in the way they did and wants to wait till the last minute." Sean said.
"I believe we need to visit Tenzin about this. If this is correct we need to prepare." Tarkin said.
"What about the Legion fleet?" Korra asked.
"With our forces spread thin...I'm afraid we must rely on the forces we have here." Tarkin said.
"Raiko won't allow that though." Sean said.
"Not unless we prove this to him." Tarkin said.
"Then we need to leave." Sean said.
