Part 6: Another Investigation?
"Hey." Heading downstairs to see the Sakuras active and raring to go one of them was in a rather pleasant mood. I hadn't woken up with the best of timings so I couldn't stop for breakfast.
"How was the night, kid?" Sojiro asked.
"Long. I'm a bit sick of the attention that the school has." Meanwhile, the other Sakura happened to be particularly sour this morning. I hugged her as usual but all I got was a one worded response in the form of:
"Idiot."
"Morning to you too." Idiot, huh? Making my way to school, I was glad not to run into anyone during the morning. Entering our classroom, nothing was out of the ordinary. For one, Kawakami acted the half-diligent, half-tired teacher as she promised. In Ann's case, it didn't seem she was made aware of last night's events. And most of all, my lunch with Shiho wasn't cancelled. If anything, she prepared a way nicer dish than usual. Reaching the end of the day, I made my way over to the council office.
"Thanks for showing up, Amamiya-san." These Niijimas are way too similar. A set of full boxes resided on the table and inside them were documents of several kinds. What was surprising was the presence of all the others looking through them.
"What are these?"
"It's what we've all agreed to do." Sumire replied.
"Getting the signatures for your pitch weren't easy, dude." Ryuji added.
"This one of your neglected jobs? I figured I'd need to help out or something so it's not a surprise, Makoto." I answered.
"It was at first. There's suspicious activity involving students in Shujin which I want to get ahead of and put a stop to. Principal Kobayakawa allowed this to go ahead without intervention and naturally, anything I impose as president will follow similar fashion. Even though you gave us a board friendly pitch and your friends got the signatures, it didn't negate the effort that my members put in tirelessly. Considering how expedited this proposal is and how exhausted they are, I'll have you cover for them for one thing. We should've had you do more but it would hamper the standard of the work we do. Principal Kobayakawa's expecting big from you, potential successor." She covered her bases well and given that I've soured my relationship with Kawakami, I don't have leeway. However, she couldn't have known that which made this a desperate move.
"Well, I'll just head to the toilet and when I'm back, I'll get started." Seemingly okay with this, I made my way over to the toilets. Out of nowhere though, things started going blurry. What the? I can't feel my legsā¦the sensation in my upper and lower limbs all but disappeared, having been cruelly snatched away. I didn't even hear the thud on the ground by the time I was out.
