Santana glanced up at her mate who was just staring at her, a huge dopey grin on her face and she suddenly felt a bit self-aware, she was hungry. And the fish had smelled absolutely delicious, they were perfectly seasoned and they were on these little sticks so she didn't have to get her hands dirty. She offers one of the skewers to Charlie, "You're going to need food for later."
Charlie takes the skewer, her eyes still focused on Santana as she bites into the skewer, and smiles when Santana shoots her a very pleased smile, "You have a healthy appetite," Charlie states, she had never once met a woman who could eat as much as she could.
For a moment Santana's not sure if that's an insult or not, but judging from how pleased her mate looked she simply shrugs, "You've never eaten with a predator prime before have you?" Charlie shakes her head, and Santana nods. She'd suspected as much. She chews on one of the skewers for a moment studying her mate, "Does it bother you? That I'm a prime, I know it bothers your grandparents. I think they'd much prefer if I was an elf or a dwarf."
Charlie immediately made a face as she bit into the fish skewer, "I've met a lot of beastkin, never a Prime though. I've never had a reason to visit the beastkin territories, maybe if I had we would have met earlier."
"Maybe, I don't think I would have been interested in meeting the princess of another country though, especially one I thought was human. I certainly would have tried to bed you," Santana tilts her head as Charlie coughs. "There aren't that many panther prime's and I dislike the other jaguar primes, I hate the lion primes, and predator beastkin and prey beastkin while we can co-exist we can't mate with one another. It simply doesn't work. Don't worry though I'll take it very slow with you, I know that you've never done this before."
Charlie flushed and smacked her chest, before reaching for her drink and draining it. "I know what to do, I've seen—pictures."
A wicked grin appeared on Santana's face, "Pictures, are you going to show me those pictures? I should know what I'm working with, and just how knowledgeable you are." Teasing her mate, was the best thing in the world, and if Charlie was a blank slate then that would mean she would be open to learning new things and trying new things.
Charlie immediately looks away, and motions for the hostess to bring her more booze. She wasn't sure what she had expected her potential partner to be, but she didn't expect that whoever she married would enjoy teasing her like this. "Well, since we're talking about this, how many children do you want?"
Santana nearly dropped her fish skewer and gives Charlie an odd look, "Why are you talking about children, we haven't even mated yet."
"I don't know, it always comes up in every one of these that I've attended. My mother insisted that I ask these questions, given my position."
"I want to have my own cubs one day," Santana admits. "I like your mom, she's nice but I'm not like all the humans that were picked out for you Charlie. I am a beastkin, we're not delicate dainty little things, I'm part of the panther clan which is a part of the jaguar clan, I assure you that I can handle myself."
"I know, I know, I just—"
"She's never been on a date like this before," Kara exclaims, interrupting. Lena groaned visibly at her remark.
"Sorry Charlie, you just carry on," Lena calls out as Charlie turns to look at them. "I thought you didn't want to interrupt them!" She hisses at Kara who rolls her eyes.
"I'm helping, she's going to blow it. It's Charlie," Kara whispers back rubbing where Lena had given her a quick pinch. "Unlike her I'm a good friend."
Lena waved at Charlie and Santana who look positively irritated at the interruption and looks at Kara, "Ever since I've known the two of you, you've tried to murder each other, this is not the—and look what you started," Lena groans as Charlie suddenly appears and grabs Kara by the arm and drags her out of the restaurant. "Well, there goes a nice dinner," Lena sighs. She watches as Santana stops Charlie and mumbles something to her and Charlie nods, she should probably introduce herself to Santana. It would be up to the two of them to make sure that Charlie and Kara didn't murder each other. With a sigh she gets up and heads over to the table where Santana barely acknowledges her presence. "It's good to finally meet you, I'm Lena, I married Kara for reasons that escape me right now."
Santana glances at the outstretched hand for a moment before slowly bringing the fish skewer to her mouth and chewing it, "You should have picked a better mate," Santana informs Lena.
Lena snorted, "Perhaps, but I suppose I could say the same about you. You gave Charlie permission to attack Kara, which was a mistake—"
"Charlie's part dragon, she wins."
"Kara's part giant, she wins," Lena challenges smirking at Santana. "It's not a good idea to let them fight for long though, or things will start getting destroyed and then they'll have to fix it. You have to understand that they've been doing this for years. Since they were babies. I mean it used to be Quinn, Kara and Charlie but they got too violent for Quinn and now here we are. They attack each other on sight."
"I'm not some dumb beastkin from the middle of nowhere, I understand that, I just don't like Kara, she grabbed me by the scruff, even my own mother doesn't do that," Santana bristled. She had seen cubs play before and it usually ended with someone being the more dominant one, she had only whispered to Charlie that if she won there would be good things in her future.
"Ah, well I apologize for that, Kara usually knows better, it's just whenever they are in the same room they act like children, which involves using their fists to smack each other. I blame the King, and Kara's aunt, they thought it was funny, and that's how we've gotten to this point. We really shouldn't be encouraging them to use their fists Santana, but their words."
"Charlie's not good with her words, I'm fine if she uses her fists," Santana says with a shrug of her shoulders. She wasn't going to tell Charlie what she couldn't or could do until after they were mated, and truthfully she was a part of the predator beastkin, displays of strength were common and if it got her mate's blood pumping then getting her pants off would be easy.
Lena paused, that was not the response that she had expected, if anything she hoped that they could form an alliance that would help them keep their respective mates from—
The door to the tavern swings open and Charlie appears dusting herself off, she grins at Santana and Lena, pleased with herself. "I—"
Before she can finish an arm wraps around her waist and she's flung backwards, before Kara's laughter can be heard.
"You know Santana, if they end up destroying the entire city block again, chances are whatever you have planned for tonight won't come to fruition. I don't believe that the Queen will be that forgiving. I know you may think it's best for them to just fight it out, but it's not, the last time Charlie and Kara destroyed half of the dwarven market district. They spent 3 weeks rebuilding the district. Unlike the Agron Kingdom, the Dwarven kingdom has extremely high standards. I assure you it was not a fun month for me, for obvious reasons."
Santana paused for a moment, if her night got interrupted she was going to scratch someone's eyes out. Her parents were coming and if she couldn't seal the deal she couldn't imagine what they would say if she didn't have a mate. The fact that Charlie was a dragon would make it even more impressive. She grabs the last three skewers and looks at Lena, "You interrupted our date, so Kara will be paying for the meal. I'll go get Charlie."
"That's—fair." Lena sighs, it was probably the best as she watches as Santana simply heads out, where Charlie and Kara are currently on the ground wrestling. She raises a brow at the scene for a moment before clearing her throat. "Come on Charlie."
Charlie shoves a hand into Kara's face pulling it away from hers and looks at Santana before kicking Kara away and rolling to her feet, "Are you done? I need to—"
"Kara's paying, lets head back."
"I'm pay—"
Charlie elbows Kara hard in the mouth and scrambles to stand beside Santana, "I'm sorry—"
"Don't apologize, I don't see that much destruction and if there is anything, Kara will fix it because she started it," Santana said, tugging Charlie along and offering her another skewer. "But next time, finish the fight quicker."
Charlie nodded and turned to glare at Kara who looked positively incensed, they would meet on the training grounds at some point later. She flips Kara off and immediately offers Santana her arm and smiles when Santana takes it, "Do we have to head back home just yet, I like spending time with you and if we get back home there will be people watching."
Santana crinkled her nose, "They'll watch us have sex?"
"No—definitely not, but I don't want my mother knowing immediately and I certainly don't want my sisters knowing, if you think that Kara is bad," Charlie puffed out her cheeks. She could only imagine her sister's teasing.
Santana nodded, she did want some privacy, "Well it's still light outside—"
"Do you want to visit the royal airship?" Charlie questions.
"I'm not flying with you in that thing, if panthers or humans were meant to fly we'd have wings," Santana insists. "You're not even that good at falling, Charlie."
"We don't have to fly it, I mean that would be expensive to get the entire crew awake, but they do have private rooms and we can be alone, without any prying eyes or dwarves looking for us."
"As long as you promise that we aren't going flying," Santana insisted immediately.
"We won't go flying I promise." Charlie vowed.
