Chapter V
More than once he found himself on the precipice of right and wrong. As the honey in his hair flowed down the river he decided that it was more than enough time spent trying to ignore his need to know her name.
Most of it had to do with wanting to keep a part of himself a mystery. While the other part wanted to put a name to a face. Thanks mainly to his inner wolf.
It had nagged him in his subconscious since he had her drenched from head to toe in water. But the mischievous twinkle that he has witnessed before they left the cave was more than enough to be wary.
He never liked to be caught by surprise. It always made him antsy. Yet the woman succeeded in a way that many ninja in his life never have. They have called him many things when it came to natural ability but to have someone willingly mess with his hair...
He got up from his kneeled position with a grunt. Water dripping from his hair onto his linen shirt. Finger combing his silver hair making sure that there was no remaining residue of honey.
He gave a sigh of relief. It wasn't often in which he was caught off guard. But now he just needed to know. He needed to have a reason to...
He shook his head. He did not need to think about a future right now. Not when he just started living.
As he made it back to the campsite the woman's phoenix tattoo was glowing. It's colors of orange and red changing to that of a blue and purple.
"It's a chakra based art." She had told him when he sat down near the green tent. "It changes whenever it wants me to know anything important."
"What does blue and purple mean?" He asked.
Her cheeks warmed. Her brown eyes widening. "Nothing."
She was lying.
He could see the shifting in her body. He is holding back the need to growl.
She should not be irritating him with a such a little thing and yet...she lied. To him. About something small.
"What's your name?" He asked.
Her brown eyes widened in surprise.
"Hanako." She said softly. "My name is Hanako Hatake."
He can hear her heartbeat. It was slow, steady. She was speaking truthfully.
Hanako.
Her name was Hanako Hatake.
