SPECIES: Titanus Gebarus
CODENAME: Gabara
AVERAGE HEIGHT: Fifty-five meters
AVERAGE WEIGHT: Twenty-one thousand tons
NUMBER OF SPECIMENS RECORDED
Since Emergence Day, seventy-eight years ago, there have been eight individual Gabara identified. Three were unborn, having yet to emerge from their eggs. Four were estimated to be juveniles based on size and physical development, while the most recent has been determined to likely be a fully mature adult.
KNOWN TERRITORY
Titanus Gebarus lay claim to the southeastern forests of Sanus. This territory is sporadic and constantly changing, as the Gabara show to possibly migrate every six months.
BEHAVIOR
The behavior of the Titanus Gebarus during the juvenile phase appears to be a constant throughout the species. Individuals will aggressively harass any kaiju that happen to be smaller than themselves, as well as those that are injured or unaware of the Gabara's presence.
These actions could be attributed to a top predator, if said kaiju were to eat whatever it happened to kill. However, RDF forces have not observed any Gabara specimens eating the few kaiju they manage to kill. Our behavioral analysts have developed a theory that a Gabara does this in order to appear stronger than it actually is. It, for all intents and purposes, will bully other monsters if given the chance.
A Gabara's sharp claws are their primary method of attack. Footage has been captured of a Gabara tearing through the armored carapace of a Titanus Speiga in one swipe. It stood roughly forty-eight meters tall, perhaps on the cusp of adulthood due to an increased musculature and striking power.
This aggression does not always work out in Titanus Gebarus' favor, however. Two separate incidents of a stronger kaiju retaliating against a Gabara have been recorded by field teams. The first involved a juvenile Gabara that was nearly killed by a Titanus Titanoaus, Codename: Titanosaurus, protecting her young near the southern coast. The second instance was the discovery of a dead Gabara on a previously unexplored island three-hundred miles from the southeastern shore of Sanus. The corpse had strange burns covering over 70% of its body, which to this day had yet to be explained. The most agreed theory was the belief that a currently undiscovered kaiju was responsible for the burns that killed the Gabara.
Due to the recent events that occurred in the city of Kakuko, experts are weighing in on whether or not the adult Gabara was simply defending its territory, or if the specimen was actively trying to intimidate and harass humanity. A simple-minded animal will defend itself from any perceived threat, which could explain the behavior of the mature individual. If, however, the mature Gabara was actively seeking to cause fear in the citizens of Kakuko, that would present the possibility of the kaiju being intelligent.
As of now there is no firmly accepted theory about whether the kaiju are capable of higher thought.
ABERRATIONS
The mature Gabara is the only one that has so far shown to have paranormal abilities. The adult was capable of generating electricity through its arms and hands. The level of amperage was so great that contact with people's bodies resulted in them exploding. The Gabara was also able to somehow channel electricity into the objects it touched and 'charge' them.
It is unknown if other specimens could utilize the same power or if this kaiju was unique.
THREAT LEVEL
*The Remnant Defense Force ranks Kaiju from I to V
The current ranking for Titanus Gebarus is a II.
While aggressive towards any other organisms within its territory, the fact that Gabara will back down when faced with a superior opponent keeps it from being much beyond a low-tiered threat. This does not mean Gabara are incapable of causing serious destruction, merely that all they have are strength and aggression. The RDF believes Titanus Gebarus to be low within the kaiju ecosystem of the planet, and recent development of stronger weapons may drop Gabara to a level I rating depending on field tests in the near future.
