Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Snow-White Hearts. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RvB, Rooster Teeth does.

Carolina looked at the freelancer… One of the soldiers who she thought were dead. She thought that Epsilon… Church. She had forgotten that the AI rather liked his old name, it was the least she could do for someone that had helped her for a while.

"Church?" Carolina asked as she slowly looked over the wounded freelancer. "Do you know who this is?" Carolina questioned as she sighed.

Carolina was familiar with EVERY agent in project Freelancer. Every name had been burned into her brain by the end of things. It was not something she simply forgot at the end.

"Yeah, Agent Vermont… Damn, are some of these files, right?" Church asked as Carolina hummed.

She ran her fingers over the wounded mercenary's blue faceplate. Vermont had always worn green armor mixed with a little gold which Carolina had often found stood out like a sore thumb… Something she now looked upon with a roll of her eyes considering how NONE of the freelancers used to be very quiet.

Vermont was always a good assassin though; she remembered the director… Her father, she owed the man the blood connection at the very least. Her father often sent Vermont along with Indiana and Louisiana to take out VIPS that her and the others wouldn't. He was close to North's shooting, but he exceled at close range.

"Church, is he still…?" Carolina asked as the AI vanished for a second, downloading himself into the trooper's armor.

What the hell was he doing here? The usually laid-back soldier was NEVER someone that would just join a cause without believing in it. Carolina had known that he ALWAYS believed in the freelancers helping people even if he was shortsighted.

"Uh, sis?" Church questioned as he appeared once more. "He's alive and kicking, but he's uh… Got some company in that dome of his." Church said before Carolina blinked.

She had forgotten like an idiot. Mu, the AI that had escaped. The often-philosophical ai that paired well with the rather curious assassin. Wherever Vermont had gone? Muwould never stray far. She had forgotten, believing he was destroyed in a battle he had with enemy forces.

"Church, how far away are those enemy signals?" Carolina asked, curious if she could achieve what she wanted in time.

She swung her rifle around, eager for an answer.

"Uh, closing in, there's still some signals here and there." Church said before they heard a groan.

Carolina watched as the freelancer began to stir as Carolina turned to Church and nodded for the AI to depart. She was well aware of what Church would do if he was allowed to do something crazy.

"Vermont, you there?" Carolina asked, trying to temper the tone of her words.

She barely did so. The sting of her commanding tone had often been something that she was used to. Why wouldn't she be when you had the responsibility of being in charge of a strike team? Carolina was so used to being a commander that the time she wasn't? Often left her confused and alone with too many times to contemplate her own thoughts.

"Wha? No, I'm hearing things, Mu." Vermont said, his visor flickering. "Because there's no way that…" Vermont started to say before he blinked, his visor slowly going pale.

Carolina simply rolled her eyes, Vermont started to reach towards his gun only for Carolina to firmly set a hand upon the weapon preventing him from picking it up as he turned to look at her a moment later. He was busy focusing upon her features, trying to recall where he had seen her from.

"Vermont." Carolina stated, the familiar barking tone of a freelancer overtaking her voice once more. "Enough. You've been hurt, this is a military base… Do you remember who I am?" Carolina questioned as the soldier started to focus once more on the woman in front of her.

"Carolina." Vermont said, his other hand on his magnum next to him. "You're supposed to be dead… But you're not, why the hell am I not surprised at ALL?" Vermont asked, his other hand kept on his weapon which Carolina noticed instantly.

"It's nice to see you too, Roland." Carolina said as she turned to look at Vermont before the soldier pointed towards her with interest.

"Why the hell are you still here?" Carolina heard from Vermont as he turned to the side. "Come to kill me as well? Those damn mercs walked in here like they were kings of hell or something… Till I put a bullet in them, I guess they thought razing the base would have stopped whatever the hell happened… Didn't do anything to slow them down much, but it stopped them enough." Vermont said before another explosion cut them off.

"Church, how good can the healing unit work at the moment?" Carolina asked as she grabbed her magnum.

Vermont inwardly chuckled sat the awkwardness of this.
