Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Snow-White Hearts. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own RvB, Rooster Teeth does.

The first bullet from Carolina's rifle hit one of the mercenaries in the head, dropping the man to the snow-covered floor. Both Vermont and Carolina took cover behind a warthog sized series of rocks.

"This feels like every single mission we used to have; this happens." Vermont said, firing his assault rifle, dropping shell casings left and right as he did so.

The assault rifle was NOT his weapon of choice, but it wasn't like he had much of a choice currently. He dropped a clip and dipped back into cover, loading his last magazine into the rifle before peeking out to unload once more.

"We've been in worse, Roland." Carolina said, gaining a glare from Vermont. "What?" Carolina asked to which Vermont rolled his eyes below his helmet.

"You're the ONLY one who calls me by my name." Vermont questioned as he continued shooting. "It's Vermont, Carol… Mu? How many of them are there?" Vermont questioned as he shook his head.

"At least a dozen guys, some of them are cloaking their signals." Vermont heard from Church as the duo shared a look. "So, Agent Vermont, huh?" Church questioned to which Vermont nodded, pausing to think about how this could go.

Carolina continued to fire her battle rifle, casings raining into the snow-covered plains as they did so. The Charon mercenaries still fielded alien technology and both of them did not. If you combined that with their numbers? For every soldier they killed, more gunfire seemed to pelt their location.

"So is your plan to shoot all of them to death?" Church asked, eyebrow asked as both looked at the ai.

"No, just the ones shooting at us." Vermont snarked as he was rewarded with a click as he cursed and threw the gun to the side. "And now we're running out of bullets to shoot them with." Vermont added, pulling his pistol from his hip.

He could only ponder what Carolina's plan when it came down to it. They had not broken out of their confinement as both continued to shoot, the duo was curious how they'd get out of this.

"Do you want us to annoy them to death?" Vermont asked, watching one of the pirates attempt to flank them.

He fired, a bullet bursting through their visor as it exploded into shards of glass. The man crumpled to the snow-covered plains as the Freelancers continued to shoot, their bullets conflicting with the rest of the alien like weapons the mercenaries fielded.

"This isn't going that well when you think about it." Carolina heard from Vermont as he dropped the clip. "I'm almost out, what about you?" Vermont questioned, eager to get this done and dusted.

"Not yet, no." Carolina put in, her rifle smoking as the duo took cover once more. "But we do need to get out of here, their pinning us down. Epsilon, how do we get out of here?" Carolina questioned, both eyeing the hidden warthog.

Carolina had hidden the vehicle for good reason. If the pirates knew where they had hidden their getaway vehicle? They'd destroy the ATV and strand them. If they were smart, at the very least. They didn't seem to have the best grasp of battlefield tactics compared to the two freelancers did when it came down to it.

"Well, if they're not smart like they don't seem to be? Then they don't have the warthog destroyed." Church stated to which he got a nod. "I don't know how it's best to run, but you could try it. I know they won't keep chasing me." Church added, getting a look from his friend and the newbie.

The duo was well aware of how this plan was turning out. They both slowly started to sneak out of cover. Vermont turned to Carolina as the two freelancers pondered the best move to employ here.

"None of your armor mods happen to be helping with us getting to cover, do they?" Vermont asked as a gunship sparked right next to his head. "Because it seems like their flanking us, I'd be happy to fight them head on if they weren't in a position to almost kill us. I'm running out of ammo fast." Vermont stated, nodding towards the group of soldiers.

He was eager to get his hands on one of those alien guns. If they were this good? Then he'd SURE as hell be taking them with him when it comes down to it.

"One or two, you?" Carolina questioned to which he was only able to look at Mu.

"Agent Vermont's active camouflage is currently online, but it will drain energy from his other ability to use." Mu reported to which Carolina watched as Vermont sighed, more annoyed then offput.

"Well, that complicates things a bit, should be fun." Vermont said as he slowly straightened up. "I'll draw their fire, you get the warthog, pick me up, we get as far away from them as possible." Vermont added, pausing to think if this was going to be as easily as he assumed.

Then again? Vermont was no stranger to insane missions like this when he thought about it. He had dealt with worse in his career.

"Don't be an idiot, their shoot you before you even get close." Vermont heard from Carolina as he sighed.

"So? Someone is always trying to shoot me." Vermont added as he crossed his arms, holding his pistol under his list. "We need a plan. I have one and unless you have a better plan? I think we try something crazy and stupid." Vermont put in, gesturing to the formation of rocks.

He paused to allow Mu to put energy into the camouflage unit. Vermont slowly started to sneak into their ranks as Carolina sighed, unsure of what to do at the moment.

"So, is he always eager to die?" Church questioned, appearing next to Carolina as she watched the Freelancer vanish into the snow, the only sign she could notice his footprints. "Because he seems like kind of a dumbass." Church added, crossing his arms as Carolina hummed and prepared to ask for the speed unit to be used.

"No, he's just very eager to fight." Carolina stated as she prepared to keep firing. "And he's very stubborn when it comes to this." Carolina said before turning and gunning down a Pirate who attempted to flank her.

Carolina sighed, knowing this battle was going to lead to Vermont getting himself killed. That was how he was ALWAYS was, but she was ready to fight anyway.

"Church, just keep an eye on MU at the moment." Carolina ordered as she put a hand to her helmeted temples with annoyance.
