Part XVIII: A (Tough) Love-(Soft) Hate Relationship
Purpledolpin05: I have been dying to write a Jaz chapter ever since the story started. I love Jordan and Kaz's relationship, which is conflicting as Kaz and Maya are also a couple in the story, while I ship Jaz and Joshaya at the same time. So this could be a friendship sort -of chapter.

Jordan: You know how I hate helping, right? Ok fine. Ugh! This authoress here owns nothing, she doesn't own Disney or the other cameo OCs, she just owns her OCs. I'm out!
"Hello fellow readers, this is Evie Queen, along me are my friends. This is Lou." Evie Queen introduced herself, before introducing her friends in order.
"Hiya!" Lou grinned.
"This here is Jay." Evie motioned as the camera turned to focus on Jay.
"'Sup." Jay gave a flirty wink. Cues fangirls squealing or swooning from the other side of the recording studio.
"These are the two siblings: Tracy and Jones." Evie turned to Tracy and Jones.
"Wait, where is Jones?" Evie asked.
"He's having a finals paper now. He won't be back until next chapter." Tracy replied, before giving an awkward but polite wave.
"What's with the red getup?" Jay asked, Tracy was wearing a red blouse with black leggings with matching brown and red shoes.
"Oh? This one is for the Lunar New Year. Mom wants me to dress up so my aunt can recreate the 10-Year Challenge with my cousins." Tracy explained.
"You look hotter than usual." Jay flirted, before Tracy kicked him in the shins.
"Creep!" Tracy hissed.
"Moving on!" Evie exclaimed, before turning to Carlos, "And this here is Carlos De Ville. Back off ladies, he's mine friend, yeah! My friend!"
"And I thought AD and I were clueless!" Sakura shouted from behind the screen. She and Adam were spending Valentines' Day teaching children in Camp Kikiwaka about taking care of animals and flowers.
"Uh, remember why we're here?" Lou reminded, before holding the envelop that contains the Couple of the Chapter.
"Why is Lou so usually happy?" Jay asked.
"I think it's because she's now dating that Hollywood actor Josh Wilcox." Carlos replied.
"Awww, I ship Lou and Josh." Evie giggled.
"Just as long as he doesn't break my friend's heart, he won't be dead before Thanksgiving." Tracy snarled.
"Wow, you're getting scarier!" Carlos gulped.
"I know, I am SO PROUD OF YOU! EMBRACE YOUR INNER DARKNESS!" Isabella shouted from the other Rec Room.
"Who invited Isabella?!" Lou shrieked.
"I invited myself, duh." Isabella shrugged.
"No party like an Isabella party." Tracy commented, before eating on a seaweed cracker she and her mother made from home.
"Ok, so today, we will be watching Jordan and Kaz celebrating Valentines' Day!" Evie declared.
"How is it possible? I mean, isn't Kaz dating Maya in the stories?" Carlos asked.
"And the fact that Maya and Jordan are good friends onscreen and offscreen makes it more complex if Jordan and Kaz were to develop feelings for each other." Tracy added.
"One way to find out. Roll the clips." Jay nodded, playing the clips.
~ Couple: Kaz Radcliffe x Jordan Hook-Carter (Friendship) ~
Kazimeras 'Kaz' Radcliffe is one out of 11 of his siblings, and one of the children of Roger and Anita Radcliffe. Yeah, surprisingly, his parents thought having 11 kids is a good idea since they both took care of 101 Dalmatians. But they just stopped caring about naming the kids after kid number 7. His youngest sister's name is just the letter 'K'.
Jordan Hook is the middle child out of three of Captain Hook's (legitimate) daughters, because she does not know who else on the Isle could be her potential half-sibling. She is not as close to her father as she despises her father for having affairs with other women of the Isle (but infidelity is unfortunately a common thing for Isle folks as few of them have a sense of loyalty to their spouse), but is told to resemble him a lot.
Once again, it's Valentines' Day, again.
Jordan rolled her eyes at all the couples acting all lovey-dovey to each other. Honestly, Valentines' Day bores her to death.
Although after arriving at Auradon, she found out she is not the only one who hates the day of 'Love', she's met a few friends who aren't fond of the idea of spending time with a lover on that day. There was Jones Li (the asexual friend, he does appreciate things that are beautiful but not in a romantic manner), Cyd 'Ripley' Clayton (the punkish tomboy), Spark Arendelle (the spunky princess with an attitude), Pim Diffy (Her mentor), Maya Hearts (although she is currently in a relationship, but she still enjoys her own time with her friends).
Jordan was walking around the school area, there was a few more minutes until she has to meet up with her friends (Jones has nicknamed Jordan's 4-lady squad with Spark, Maya and Cyd as 'The Love Pentagon', which Shelby White also admits that it sounds like a cool girl-band name), when she saw Kaz sitting by himself.
"What up, K." Jordan went over.
"Hey Jordan." Kaz gave her a polite smile back.
"Why are you here by yourself? Shouldn't you be making out with Maya?" Jordan asked, before teasing, "did she dump you already?"
"Hurtful! I will have you know; Maya and I are going to the movies tonight after dinner!" Kaz replied defensively, as Jordan laughed.
"What about you? What's with the getup?" Kaz motioned to Jordan's outfit. "You look like you're dressed for the kill."
Jordan raised an eyebrow at him.
"I mean that in a 'You're terrifying, my friend' kind of way." Kaz stated.
"Oh, thank Hades. Back on the Isle, your 'compliment' would be equivalent to an Auradon boy calling his girlfriend 'pretty'." Jordan explained.
"Oh…I did NOT know that." Kaz blinked, realizing he was sort of 'flirting' with his girlfriend's best girl-friend. And according to Leo and Chase, Isle girls have a tight sisterhood to each other to the point they won't let a boy get in their way.
Chase also told Kaz that the Sisterhood pact became important among the Isle girls after some of the girls (Jordan, Cyd, Maya; along with Caitlin, Skylar and Bree) were being cheated on by the same guy they were 'dating'.
"Meh, Auradonians can be so slow at understanding Isle talk!" Jordan nodded, "the Love Pentagon and Jones are meeting up Miss Diffy for our evening class. So I guess Maya is meeting you after the class session."
"That probably explains why Maya cancelled on me." Kaz nodded. "Oh well, this gives me time to read the Tecton comics."
Kaz motioned to the pile of comic books he was reading.
"Isn't Tecton our Geometry teacher?" Jordan asked.
"Yeah. He saves the world in his spare time." Kaz answered, "he is my ultimate superhero!"
"I used to read his comics back on the Isle too." Jordan pointed out, picking up a comic book to read. "Although, I would always find old Math homework hidden in the comics."
Kaz gulped a bit, welp, at least now he knows where his homework went over the years. He used to hide his homework inside his comic books but I guess his mom or his older sisters must have accidentally threw his Tecton comics out and somehow landed on the Isle of the Lost.
"Is that also why you tried to 'kill' our last Principal Howard back at Dragon Hall?" Cyd passed by and joked.
"Dang, girl!" Spark grinned.
"THAT WAS ONE TIME. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW HE HAS AN EXPERIMENTAL PLUTONIUM HEART?!" Jordan groaned at the memory.
"Who's Principal Howard?" Oliver and Skylar were walking by, before Oliver asked.
"He's our ex-principal back at Dragon Hall. He is also a cyborg and Jordan tried proving her conspiracies right by accidentally using a radiation detector to activate his heart to malfunction." Skylar Storm explained.
"Is that also why you stabbed Tecton's knee with a spear last week, to prove he is 'indestructible'?" Oliver turned to Jordan.
"I was right, wasn't I?" Jordan replied defensively.
"At least Tecton didn't press charges." Skylar tried to be optimistic.
"Why are you guys all here?" Kaz asked.
"Skylar and I are heading off to the amusement park by the pier." Oliver explained.
"There's this new ride called The Wind Ticklers, The Baxter-Carter twins: Booker and Nia gave it 4 thumbs up." Skylar grinned.
"I am gonna go now. I am meeting Naldo for some chimichangas with Jones and Spark." Cyd grinned.
"I am just gonna ask: why is Jones always tagging on your 'dates' with Naldo." Kaz asked Cyd.
"CHIMICHANGAS!" Cyd and Spark (who was tagging along) cheered loudly.
"JONES/CYD/NALDO!" Caitlin screamed from the asylum (Oliver found Caitlin very disturbing, and Jones said 'something HAD to be done').
"NO!" everyone else (including Jay, Tracy, Lou, Evie, Jones from the rec room across the kingdom) yelled.
"HEY! Polyamorous relationships are a common thing back on the Isle!" Caitlin replied with a shrug.
"Yeah, remember the time Troy West cheated on Bree with Myra Tremaine (from Girl VS Monster), and somehow convinced the two girls to go on a 'group date'?" Cyd laughed.
Cues Bree angrily destroying a table at the mention of Troy West from a distance.
"Isn't Myra one of the Tremaine grandkids?" Oliver asked.
"Yeah. Caitlin has a few half-siblings. Like Ellie (from Stuck In The Middle), Aidan (from Stuck in the Middle) and his brother TJ (Andi Mack, TJ is short for Tremaine Junior, and was named after his late grandpa AKA Lady Tremaine's first husband). Kerry has a few half-siblings as well. We all have a lot of extended family members." Skylar explained.
"Isn't Myra one of the girls who had a crush on Roman? She was obsessed with him, as much as Aspen is." Cyd asked.
"Myra looks like that girl Bryn who keeps flirting with Roman." Skylar added an afterthought.
Offscreen…
Tracy: WHAT?! (eyes twitching, rips the paper folder she was using) JONES, PIM, JORDAN, CYD, SPARK, MAYA, PACK YOUR STUFF, WE'RE GOING OGRESS HUNTING!
Isabella: WAY TO GO! FIGHT AND KILL FOR YOUR MAN! Hey, you can help me kill Karen Wheeler as well. I need someone to help me hold her head steady while I chop her body to tiny bits and pieces.
Billy, Nancy and Mike from Stranger Things: ISABELLA NO!
Zachary, Blake and Serpentina 'Tina': ISABELLA, YES!
Jay: HEY! I AM HALF HER MEN TOO! NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO MAKE MY GIRL SAD!
Back to the story…
"Any guy ever asked you out back on the Isle, Jor?" Kaz asked Jordan in a teasing tone.
"Psh, who would?" Jordan snorted. "My dad is tough and strict, so no dating."
"Well, Rory seems to have a crush on you." Cyd added.
"Who is Rory?" Kaz asked.
"He's one of Brett, Roman and Riker's younger brothers. He's the same age as I am." Jordan replied, "he's my partner-in-crime when Cyd, Maya and Sakura are busy."
"I like Rory, he was not a dirtbag like all the other Isle guys." Cyd grinned.
"You also had a crush on you back when we were in 3rd grade." Jordan added.
"Shouldn't you guys be eating lunch or going on rollercoasters?" Kaz asked.
"RIGHT!" Spark remembered, before she and Cyd rushed to meet up with their friends.
"We are gonna be SO LATE!" Oliver remembered, before he and Skylar rushed to the pier for the Wind Ticklers.
"Maya just texted me. She mentioned something about Riley, Shelby and Andi accidentally let loose half a dozen of bunnies on loose in her dorms." Jordan received a text message from Jordan.
"Why doesn't she text me about it?" Kaz questioned.
"Because unlike you, I am her close friend." Jordan snickered.
"Ok, point taken. You and Maya have history AND chemistry than me and her combined." Kaz groaned a bit, before questioning, "Are you sure you and her never dated?"
"Maya is one of my closest and most trusted friends, so I want what's best for her. I mean, she's got a delusional and narcistic older sister Tawny Hearts, and she is as much of a pain as my two sisters: Ocean and Pinky." Jordan explained, lowering her 'tough girl' façade.
"You up for a game?" Kaz challenged Jordan to a video game contest.
"You're on. If you win, you get my limited edition Tecton water tumbler." Jordan stated.
"Done!" Kaz immediately agreed.
"But if I win, you have to give me your pants!" Jordan added.
"What? Why?!" Kaz frowned as he protested.
"Are you chicken?" Jordan taunted.
"No! I can never back down on a challenge. I am literally biologically incapable of backing down from a dare!" Kaz exclaimed.
"I never knew that. Ok, I dare you to kiss that old lady on the cheek!" Jordan motioned to an old lady walking by.
Kaz grumbled, before marching over to kiss the old lady on the cheek. The lady smiled as she gave Kaz a card.
Kaz looked at the card, before informing Jordan that the old lady is a therapist.
"You may wanna hang on to that." Jordan tucked the card into Kaz's shirt breast-pocket.
"Why must you roast me all the time?" Kaz frowned at her.
"Because teasing your best gal's boyfriend is a thing back on the Isle." Jordan shrugged.
"Talk about tough love." Kaz crossed his arms.
Although, that would explain why Spark and Jordan sang a duet and recently dedicated 'The Potential Breakup Song' by Aly and AJ on his and Maya's anniversary last month, saying if he breaks Maya's heart, the Love Pentagon will break his limbs.
"I like to think of it as Soft Hate." Jordan patted his shoulder.
"Race ya to the arcade." Jordan declared before she raced Kaz to an arcade nearby to play a round of Alien Slayerz 7.
Halfway through the game,
"KAZ! I dare you to kiss that old lady again!" Jordan dared Kaz, in the middle of his game.
Kaz sighed as he went over to kiss the therapist lady again, before he went back to his game. Jordan Hook watched as she laughed with glee.
So yeah in the end, Jordan won while Kaz lost.
"Haha, you lost. Time to pay the piper." Jordan smirked.
"You're a Hook, not a Pipe fixer." Kaz replied.
"That's a Plumber." Jordan corrected with a frown.
Kaz reluctantly removed his pants, but he was wearing an extra pair of jeans underneath his first pair.
"You wear 2 pants?" Jordan questioned, holding her 'loot'.
"How many pants do you wear?" Kaz asked, as if it was not a big deal, causing Jordan to raise an eyebrow at him judgmentally.
"Hey, back in middle school, Gus Hatter and Jones Li once challenged me and Oliver to a video game challenge, and they won. So me and Oliver had to run around the school yard in our long johns. Ever since then, it is mandatory for everyone or just guys who lose dares, to wear two pairs of trousers." Kaz explained.
"And you thought Isle people's customs were weird." Jordan snorted.
"Aww, what a lovely couple you two are." An old lady named Irma (from KC Undercover) went over and complimented them.
"What? No!" the duo looked at each other, before scooching away from the other and gagged loudly.
"We're not a couple! She's just a friend." Kaz explained.
"He's dating my best friend." Jordan clarified in a firm tone.
"Oh, my bad. It's just you two look so adorable together. It reminds me of my late husband Ford. He doesn't say much but we're always competitive." Irma laughed as she walked away.
"What gave her the idea we're a 'couple'?" Jordan questioned.
"Probably because you're holding my pants." Kaz pointed out dryly.
"Stealing people's clothes were a common thing back on the Isle. When I first met Sakura and Adam, they were hanging Chase's boxers over my dad's ship." Jordan shrugged.
"Anyway, it's a fun day. I had a good time with you." Kaz turned to Jordan.
Jordan raised her eyebrows at him.
"I like having fun with you."
Jordan starts to grip a hold at an emergency bottle she carries around her and an emergency hook her dad made her. The hook was Jordan's signature item, it was as black as her soul and sharp like her wits and sense of judgment.
Crap, this is sending all the wrong message of what Kaz thought of Jordan.
"I enjoyed spending time with you as a FRIEND!" Kaz clarified.
"Oh." Jordan nodded, welp, that cleared things up.
They looked at each other for a few awkward seconds, not exactly knowing what to say.
"It was nice spending time with you, because most of the time I'm either with Maya or Oliver, we should hang out more often." Kaz smiled over.
"Sure, I guess it'd be alright to socialize with you rather than having Gus and Marci around." Jordan shrugged. She loathes Gus Hatter; Marci Long is ok in Jordan's books (just a little weird) but when she's with Gus it is difficult to tolerate both of them in the same place.
"I never got to ask, who gave you that black hook anyway?" Kaz motioned to a black hook Jordan always carries with her like a lucky charm.
"It is a gift from my dad, made it himself. Each of my sisters have one, but Ocean's hook is ocean blue and Pinky's hook is fuchsia pink." Jordan replied, gazing at her black hook. She shares a lot of things with her sisters, birthdays being one of them. "Dad nicknames me and my two sisters as his 'Bermuda Triangle'."
"Sounds like it holds a lot of sentimental value to you." Kaz commented, giving a loop-sided grin.
"Yeah…" Jordan gave a tiny smile. "That was when our family was actually happy. The simpler days."
She hated her father for being unfaithful to her mother and to her and her sisters. Ever since then, she has a strained and emotionally distant relationship with her family members. It didn't make matters better when her parents got divorced and found someone new in their lives.
"You probably had a rough past, and I should not judge. But deep down, I think you're a cold-blooded swashbuckling butt-kicking video-game-unicorn-slaughtering pirate girl." Kaz commented.
"That might be the nicest compliment anyone has said to me in a while." Jordan gave a half-shrug.
"Anyway, I have to get going. I need to be meeting up with Miss Diffy. I told Jones I will be sparring with him first." Jordan stated.
"Ok, break a leg!" Kaz waved at her.
"Don't have to tell me that twice." Jordan smirked, as they walked off in separate directions.
As soon as Kaz walked off, Jordan turned back to glance at him.
Not that she would ever admit to anyone, but she may or may not have fond feelings for Kaz the moment she and her friends were sent to Auradon Prep. But she could tell that Maya and him immediately hit it off, so she respected that and kept the feelings to herself.
Only Spark seemed to know about Jordan's hidden feelings for Kaz, and they both bonded over the fact they like(d) Kaz but he's such a dumb guy to notice. Cyd admits she thinks Kaz is cute, but ultimately thought Naldo was cuter. (but Jordan and Spark noticed Cyd likes talking about her best bro Jones more than Naldo)
Love was considered a weak emotion on the Isle, and she never actually knew what love felt like as she never got around to care for someone romantically. She once considered dating a friend of hers, Rory (one of Bret, Roman and Riker's brothers) as he is one of the few people that she is willing to share her feelings with. Rory was mysterious but also considered handsome; but no, he's a good friend.
But hey, if Maya is happy with Kaz. Jordan should be happy for her too.

"God damn it, authoress! Why must you torture my heart like this?!" Lou demanded, half sobbing.
"I live to make and break feels." The authoress half-joked, before dodging a pillow Evie just threw over.
"Ugh, now I can't decide between which girl I ship with Kaz." Tracy groaned.
"JORDAN/MAYA/CYD/SPARK, THE ULTIMATE SHIP!" Caitlin shouted/suggested from a distance.
"NO!" everyone else yelled, before Jones (also with Pim Diffy's tutoring sessions) fired a grenade at Caitlin's direction.
"WAY TO GO JONES!" Spark applauded.
"It's kinda sad how Jordan has a crush on Kaz while he's with Maya. But she respects him enough to let him be happy with someone else." Carlos commented.
"So who ends up with Kaz?!" Tracy asked.
"That is for me to know and for you to find out." The authoress shrugged.
"WHAT KIND OF ANSWER IS THAT?!" Lou and Evie face-palmed.
"Am I the only seemingly sane one here?" Jay raised a hand and asked. He considers today to be one of the breaking points where all (or almost all) of his co-hosts had a mental breakdown over a ship they loved but knew it wasn't gonna happen anytime soon.
"Unfortunately, so." The authoress replied.
"How often does this happen?" Jay asked.
"If you have stayed around in fandoms where there's a lot of shippers," the authoress replied. "Why are you judging them? The fact Skoliver was never confirmed or showed an actual cannon scene where they are together kills me as much as the fact Phil and Keely are probably never gonna happen due to the time difference."
"This is from the same person who parallels Pheely (Phil/Keely) to Carvie sometimes." Tracy pointed out.
"Or Brakayla to Skoliver." Evie added.
"Ok, I get it. I have issues." The authoress smacked a hand over her face.
"So which couple are we observing next?" Carlos asked, trying not to trigger any further tears from the girls.
"Rodissiuss/Rina!" Jay read out loud, before asking, "wait, isn't Rina dead?"
"It's probably a flashback chapter, I guess?" Tracy shrugged.
"Wait, Authoress, I have some suggestions here about couples you can write on. I have been working on a manuscript, what do you think of 50 Shades of-?" Caitlin asked, before Evie used a sledgehammer and knocked Caitlin into space for the time being.
"I think I just threw up a bit in the back of my mouth." The authoress covered her mouth.
"And since you're doing time-skip in comparison to the 2016 Valentines Day couples, can you finally find some time to write me and Tracy? I am sick of watching her swoon over this Roman guy!" Jay raised a hand.
"That's all for today, see yall next time." The authoress turned to the camera as the rest started to wave.
"HEY! DON'T LEAVE ME HANGING!" Jay yelled.
So, in this re-vamped version of 'Be My Valentine!', it would have taken place after my version of Descendants 2 (I'm working on the details for the crossover version, since recently I was working on The Ghostwriter and The Lone Ranger series more, and school life has been keeping me busy lately) and in cannon-verse after 2018, Adam and Sakura are now officially and finally dating, they aren't as lovey-dovey as other couples but they're more of implicit love.
I liked Jaz as a friendship pairing and as a romantic pairing, and I liked exploring Jordan's emotions behind her tough gamer girl demeanor. In most of my AUs, Jordan's last name is Hook-Carter (Carter is her mom's maiden name) and sometimes mentioned her dad left the family before she was born and he has another family, so in 'The Mysteries of Auradon's Lost Princes', it was hinted that Jordan and her older sister Ocean are both related to Captain Hook. [I also ship Spark/Jordan as a bromance ship, since they can relate to liking Kaz. And them singing The Potential Breakup Song is now something I gotta edit with. Although, I once dreamt of an AU where Jordan and Spark pulled a Korrasami and ended up together while Kaz is alone.]
I feel like in Mighty Med, everyone's got family issues: Kaz is the neglected kid out his big family, Oliver has evil parent issues and absent (slightly older) father, Skylar has no parents since she is born out of a pod of nutrient solution on Caldera, Jordan seems emotionally distant from her family and rarely talks of them, and Gus has neglectful parents that give him money than attention.
Some references to other shows were mentioned (Raven's Home, Mighty Med when Jordan tries to prove her theories right) along with future possible characters to appear (TJ from Andi Mack, I ship him with Cyrus so much. Myra is from Girl vs Monster; Bryn from Jessie will be a character in Descendants 2 who will flirt with Roman)
